HIGHLIGHTS

* Cybercriminals are now using a new tactic of ‘look who just died” to lock users out of their Facebook accounts.
* Victims are sent a phishing link claiming to be news of the death of someone they knew or admired.
* They are asked to provide their Facebook credentials to access the news, after which they are locked out of their accounts.

A new ‘look who just died’ scam is locking unsuspecting users out of their Facebook accounts. It’s no news that cybercrime is on the rise, and social media platforms are the hot targets for cybercriminals.

The new scam is a spear phishing attack where the victim receives a Facebook Messenger chat from one of the contacts saying look who just died with a phishing link to steal Facebook credentials.

2019 Symantec study revealed that people are more susceptible to phishing attacks with emotional triggers, which is precisely what is happening here.

Don’t Click on Links in Facebook Messages Saying ‘Look Who Just Died’

Facebook Messages

In this new type of Facebook scam, victims receive messages saying ‘Look who died,’ followed by a suspicious link, as seen in the image above.
These messages are accompanied by shock and sad emoji, phrases like ‘I know you knew him’ or ‘Died in an accident,’ and so on. These emotional triggers trick the prey into clicking on the accompanying link.

It’s clear that scammers are playing with the emotional side of unsuspecting victims, making them think someone close to them or know personally has died.

According to several Reddit users, the scam has existed for a while and continues to exist. The accompanying messages keep changing.

However, the MO of the entire scam remains the same. While the ‘look who died’ Facebook scam is the most popular and potent emotional trigger, scammers sometimes change lanes and use phrases like ‘Look, it’s you in this video’ and other such messages.

Facebook Messages

Those who fall prey and click on the link are either hacked as soon as they click or asked for their Facebook credentials to access the news.

Once they provide their credentials, hackers take over their accounts and lock them out. The buck doesn’t stop here, as the perpetrators then go on to send the same message and link to everyone in their contact list.

It’s advised not to click on suspicious links, even from someone you know. The best way to spot this scam is to look at the URL. If it looks like garbled alphanumeric series, steer clear of it. Lastly, the scam is not limited to Facebook, you might receive such messages on other social media platforms, SMS, and email as well.

What does the message read

Facebook Messages

The message says, “Look who just died,” and contains a link that seems to lead to a news article about the person’s death. The message may include phrases like “So sad” or “I know you know him/her” to make the recipient think that the deceased was a famous person or someone they know personally.

Why is it Risky

Facebook Messages

Clicking on such links can lead to malware and put personal information at risk.

How does the ‘look who just died’ scam works

Facebook Messages

Scammers may ask for Facebook login details, which can lead to account access and potential theft of financial information. Fake news links may also install malware on the device, giving hackers access to personal data.

How your friends may also be at risk

Once the hacker gains control of your account, they can lock you out and then send similar messages to your friends from your account.

Beware Of Facebook’s ‘Look Who Just Died’ Scam: How To Protect Your Account

Don't open this Messenger message! 'Look what I found' scam is back | Express.co.uk

Several Facebook users have been warned about a new scam called “look who just died” in Australia that is designed to steal personal information and money by claiming the death of someone they know. The ‘look who just died’ scam is the newest scheme used by hackers on the social media platform.

How Facebook’s ‘Look Who Just Died’ Scam Works

The scam begins with a direct message from a hacker posing as a friend that says “look who just died” and includes a link to what appears to be a news article. The message might also include terms such as “so sad” or “I know you know him” to trap users into thinking they know the person.

To read the article about the alleged death, victims are asked to enter their Facebook username and password. The link to the fake news contains malware that allows scammers to steal login information and personal details from Facebook users.

The victim is then locked out of their account and taken over by the hacker who sends the same message to their friends’ list, according to a report by Daily Mail.

Moreover, the report said that the scammers can then steal any personal data associated with the Facebook account, such as email addresses, phone numbers, and birth dates, which they can then use to break into non-Facebook accounts.

How To Avoid Being Scammed On Facebook

If you get a suspicious email or message claiming to be from Facebook, don’t click any links or attachments. You can view recent emails sent from Facebook in your Facebook settings.

* Slow down: Scammers often try to create a sense of urgency or threaten you with losing your account or other action. Take the time to ask questions and think it through.

* Spot check: Scammers often mention a problem to encourage you to act. Do your research and double-check the details before clicking links or downloading files. Does what they’re telling you make sense?

* Don’t send: Scammers often pretend to be from a familiar organisation. They may use an employee photo that they stole from the Internet to convince you. No reputable organisation will demand payment on the spot.
On social media, look out for the following signs when considering whether to accept a friend request or respond to a message:

* People who you don’t know or famous people asking for money.

* Asking you for advance fees to receive a loan, prize or other winnings.

* People claiming to be a friend or relative in an emergency.

* People asking you to move your conversation off Facebook.

* People claiming to want a romantic connection with you quickly and then asking for money.

* Messages or posts with poor spelling and grammatical errors.

* A message asking for your urgent response because something is wrong with your online account.

* A message that simply asks you to log in with your social media, email address or bank account to read an important message about the services that you use online.

* Accounts that have no friends, profile photo or real-looking activity on Facebook.

Tips to keep your Facebook account secure

* Don’t click suspicious links: If you get a suspicious email, text or social media message claiming to be from Facebook, don’t click any links or attachments. First, check in your Facebook settings to see whether it came from Facebook.

* Do not download files or software coming from people that you don’t know: Use caution when installing browser extensions and third-party apps, particularly when they offer functionality that sounds too good to be true or require you to log in with your social media credentials before even using them.

* Don’t answer and report messages that ask for your password, social security number, financial information, such as credit card numbers and strengthen your online security:

* Enable two-factor authentication to add an extra security layer to your accounts across the Internet. Two-factor authentication is one of the most effective tools for combating account compromise attempts here.

* Never reuse your password across multiple websites.

* Use trusted antivirus software. It is important to keep this software up to date and scan your devices for malware regularly.

* Turn on login alerts so that you’ll be notified if someone is trying to access your account. Make sure that you review your previous sessions to ensure that you recognise which devices have access to your account.

Faqs

1) ”Look Who Just Died” Text Message Scam Overview?

Ans) The “Look who just died” or similar messages are phishing scams where cybercriminals play with the emotions of their targets by falsely reporting the death of someone they supposedly know. The scam is often targeted at Facebook users but can also affect those using other social media platforms.
Hackers add a short condolence message and a phishing URL they present as their news source. By doing this, scammers convince their intended target to click on the link to learn more, and in the process, they hack the victims’ accounts.

2) How Does the “Look Who Just Died” Phishing Scam Work?

Ans) When you click on the phishing link, you are mysteriously logged out of your account, taken back to your account’s login screen, and instructed to log in again. On this screen, scammers can monitor your activity. If you enter your login details here, scammers will see this sensitive information. In this way, you unknowingly divulge these critical details to scammers.
The moment hackers gain access to this information, they can access your account and carry out whatever plans they had for it. They can misuse your identity in several ways to fulfill their malicious intentions:

* Scammers can ask your friends for financial assistance or a loan. When doing so, they would create an impression that it is you who is asking for help.
* They can engage in any illegal activity, which you could be held responsible for.
* Fraudsters can use your account’s ads manager to launch campaigns if you have funds there.
* Scammers can change the admin roles of notable pages, groups, or communities you manage and use them for malicious purposes.
* Even worse, they can send the same message to your friends to expand their scam chain.

Faqs on Nokia 2660 Flip

1) What is Nokia 2660 Flip Phone: Price And Availability?

Ans) The price of the Nokia 2660 in Europe is about €79.90 ($85) and it is available from several online retail platforms. The Nokia 2660 is also available directly from Nokia in the UK for £64.99 ($81). The two new color options for the Nokia 2660 could catch the fancy of some demographics of the market. We expect the feature flip models to perform well in the market, considering the sudden rise in the demand for flip phones among Gen Zs.

2) What are Nokia 2660 Flip Phone: Specifications?

Ans) There are no new features, the 4G gadget will still have a 2.8-inch primary screen and a 1.77-inch secondary screen. It is equipped with an MP3 player, Bluetooth 4.2, and a wireless FM radio and is run by a Unisoc T107 CPU. The 1450 mAh battery on this phone is charged using a micro USB port. It has a 0.3 MP camera with an LED flash as far as the camera is concerned.

The manufacturer promotes this phone as a tool for digital detoxification that encourages present-focused living. According to IDC research, the Nokia 105 will be the most popular feature phone globally in 2022. This indicates that a segment of consumers who are concerned about the healthcare system and mental health problems brought on by smartphones and the internet are looking ahead for such possibilities.

3) RETAILERS SHOW THE NOKIA 2660 FLIP IN NEW COLOURS.Details?

Ans) Last year, Nokia Mobile brought back the 2007’s Nokia 2660 in a new avatar with a ‘Flip’ added to the name alongside two more phones from the Nokia Originals series. It is the first non-KaiOS flip phone by the company.

This 4G device has a dual display setup of a 2.8-inch primary and a 1.77-inch secondary screen. Powered by the Unisoc T107 processor, the phone has an MP3 player, Bluetooth 4.2, wireless FM radio, and microSD card support of up to 32 GB. Inside, it houses a 1450 mAh battery that charges through a micro-USB port. There is a 0.3 MP camera alongside a LED flash. It also has an emergency button that can help one reach up to 5 contacts at once.

It was launched in Black, Blue, and Red colours. Now, a few Austrian retailers have added two new colour options, Lush Green and Pink, of the Nokia 2660 Flip to their databases. The specifications detailed on their website are the same as mentioned above.

The Nokia 2660 Flip in Lush Green colour has a gold-tinted D-pad and camera island, while the keypad has a darker tone of green than the body colour. Check the images from the retailer’s website in the slideshow below.

Coming to the pink colour variant, the device has a dark pink toned keypad. The camera island and D-pad have a rose pink colour finish. The chances are slim, but if the pink Nokia 2660 Flip were to be associated with the upcoming Barbie film, it would go well with the pinkish theme of the movie. Anyways, below is the pink Nokia 2660 Flip’s image gallery from the retailer’s website.

There’s no word from Nokia Mobile yet about these new colour options on the Nokia 2660 Flip’s product page on the official website, so it remains to be seen when these will become available and in which countries. The pricing should remain the same (€79.9) as that of the existing colour variants in Austria as per the retailers.

Xiaomi 12 Pro

Despite being over a year old, the 12 Pro packs some quality hardware. Xiaomi dropped the price of the 2022 flagship phone soon after it launched the 13 Pro in India.

The former flagship series smartphone was available for Rs 52,999.
Xiaomi has announced another offer on the 12 Pro, bringing its price to under Rs 50,000. Xiaomi 12 Pro can be bought for an effective price of Rs 42,999 for the base 8GB RAM variant. The offer price also applies to the 12GB RAM variant of the phone.

Xiaomi 12 Pro

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is typically available for Rs 52,999 on Mi.com, Mi Home Stores and other channels. However, the company has announced a new price, which can be availed during the sale period.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is available on mi.com for as low as Rs 44,999. If you have an ICICI Bank credit or debit card, you can avail a Rs 2,000 discount, which brings the price down to Rs 42,999.

The 12GB RAM variant, which also offers 256GB of storage, can be bought for Rs 46,999, which is inclusive of the Rs 2,000 cashback offer on ICICI Bank cards.

The device is also available in three colours — Couture Blue, Noir Black and Opera Mauve.

For the price, the 12 Pro offers a flagship experience at a relatively affordable price. The device features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which is still quite capable and can handle almost any task you throw at it.

It also packs a sizeable 4600mAh battery, offering support for 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Xiaomi 12 Pro: Specifications

Xiaomi 12 Pro

The USP of the 12 Pro is its camera system. There is a triple-camera setup on the back. The phone has a 50MP Sony IMX707 primary camera, a 50MP sensor with an ultra-wide lens and another 50MP sensor with a 2x telephoto lens. There is a 32MP front camera for selfies.

The 12 Pro does not get the Leica camera optimisation and filters, which is currently exclusive to the 13 Pro. That being said, the camera performance is quite premium.

On the front, the phone has a 6.73-inch Samsung E5 OLED display with a 2K resolution. In addition, the screen offers support for up to a 120Hz refresh rate. It also has an HDR10+ certification along with support for Dolby Vision.

Xiaomi 12 Pro

Lastly, the screen has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for protection against drops and scratches.

Security-wise, the phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner and support for AI-based face unlock. It runs Android 12 out of the box with MIUI 13 out of the box. However, the Android 13 updated with MIUI 14 on top has been rolled out in India.

Should you buy the Xiaomi 12 Pro right now?

Xiaomi 12 Pro

In certain scenarios, the Xiaomi 12 Pro performs remarkably well. It retains its impressive large display, excellent primary camera, dependable performance, and incredibly fast charging capabilities.

However, it falls short in a few areas, such as poor battery life in QHD mode, thermal issues with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, and a slightly underwhelming front-facing camera.

Nevertheless, considering the bundled offers, the Xiaomi 12 Pro’s current value of INR 42,999 positions it as one of the top contenders in the affordable flagship smartphone market.

Xiaomi 12 Pro Key Specifications

Amazon launches ‘Echo Pop’ smart speaker in India: Price, Features and Availability & Review

0

HIGHLIGHTS

* Echo Pop comes in a completely new form factor.
* Echo Pop has a front-facing directional speaker.
* It is the cheapest current-gen Echo smart speaker you can get.
* The Echo Pop is the latest smart speaker from Amazon.
* It comes in a unique semi-sphere design and in four colour options.
* Here’s all you need to know about the Amazon Echo Pop smart speaker.

Amazon India has introduced its newest affordable smart speaker Echo Pop in India. It comes in a completely new form factor, and as you might have guessed from the name, there are some new colour options too.

It joins the Echo Dot (5th Gen) in the 2023 Echo lineup, which arrived in the country a few months ago. So let’s check out what this new Echo smart speaker brings to the table.

Amazon Echo Pop

Amazon today launched a new Echo deviced in India. Amazon Echo Pop is a new smart speaker that has a semi-sphere form factor and comes in four colour option.

Just like the other Echo speakers, the Echo Pop also comes with Amazon Echo built-in for hands-free voice commands, and has Bluetooth support.

Amazon Echo Pop: Features

Amazon Echo Pop

The first thing you will notice about the Echo Pop right off the bat is its design. It comes in a completely new form factor and looks like a semi-sphere. It has a light strip at the top that glows whenever Alexa is active. There is a front-facing directional speaker, so the sound is directed at you and is easier to listen to.
It delivers loud sound, balanced bass, and crisp vocals.

It is powered by Amazon’s new AZ2 Neural Edge processor, which is also available on the latest Echo Dot models. It simply means Echo Pop will be able to process your questions and deliver responses faster than an Echo device with an older processor.

This, essentially less waiting time, is beneficial when you are in a hurry or want to ask multiple questions.

Amazon Echo Pop

The next new thing about Echo Pop is its colour options. You can choose from Black, Green, Purple, and White colours. This should give you the freedom to pick the one that goes the best with your room’s decor.

Since it is an Echo smart speaker, you get access to hands-free Alexa. You can use Alexa to ask all sorts of questions, get timely updates about sports/weather/traffic, control your smart home appliances, set reminders, pay bills, stream music, and more.

In addition, it can be used as a standalone or Bluetooth speaker by connecting with your smartphone.

Amazon Echo Pop

The Echo Pop has a total of three buttons on the backside. Two of these are your volume rockers for increasing and decreasing the sound level. The third button, which is actually in between the volume rockers, is the mic-off button.

It will help you disconnect the speaker’s microphones. It adds an extra layer of privacy and gives you the surety that Alexa is not listening. You can also visit the Alexa app settings for more privacy controls.

Amazon Echo Pop: India Pricing

Amazon Echo Pop

Amazon has priced the Eco Pop at Rs. 4,999 in India, which makes it Rs. 500 cheaper than the latest Echo Dot. You can get Rs. 500 off if purchased along with Fire TV. It has bundle packs with 9W smart bulb and smart plug, but you will need to pay Rs. 200 and Rs. 949 extra, respectively.

The Amazon Echo Pop has a unique semi-sphere design that will definitely make it stand out wherever you keep it. Adding to its unique design are the four colours, especially Green and Purple. It also comes in White and Black colours.

* The Echo Pop can also be used to control smart devices such as smart lights and electrical appliances from popular brands like Wipro, Syska, and Xiaomi. There’s also the option to connect to non-smart appliances through smart plugs.

Amazon Echo Pop Review $39.99

THE GOOD

* A bargain at $40
* Nice design — it comes in purple!
* Good sound for its size
* Speedy responses

THE BAD

* Fewer hardware features than the Dot
* Doesn’t hear voice commands as well as the Dot
* No Alexa Action button

Echo Pop vs. Echo Dot

Amazon Echo Pop

The biggest question, though, is if you’re looking to get a cheap Echo smart speaker, should you get the Pop or the Dot? Here’s a look at how the two stack up.

Sound: The Echo Pop is fine for listening to a podcast or the radio and acceptable for listening to music if you’re in a small room and sitting right next to it. It’s noticeably better when stereo paired with another Pop. But this is not a device to buy for banging tunes.

While the Dot isn’t, either, and actually has a smaller front-firing speaker, it has a richer sound and better bass, so if that’s a consideration — spend the extra $10. Plus, with a Dot, you can tap it to pause music quickly. With the Pop, you have to use a voice command.

If you already have a better Alexa speaker and / or a decent Bluetooth speaker, you can pair the Pop to either of those and save the $10. But neither the Pop nor the Dot has a 3.5mm audio jack.

If you want to add voice control to a dumb speaker using a wire, the third-gen Dot was your cheapest option. But Amazon has discontinued that model, so if you need that feature and can find one, grab it. (The $100 fourth-gen Echo also has an audio jack).

Amazon Echo Pop

Speed and performance: The Pop and the Dot have the same AZ2 Neural Edge processor, so execute most commands faster than older Echos. But the Dot responded marginally faster in side-by-side testing, picking up my voice quicker from farther away.

If you’re putting a Pop on your desk or bedside table, though, you won’t notice the difference.

Sensors: The lack of a temperature and ultrasound sensor makes the Pop less useful as a smart home controller. With the fifth-gen Echo Dot, you can use its temperature sensor to do things such as adjust your smart thermostat when a room gets too warm or have its ultrasound sensor turn lights on when you walk in.

Both the Pop and the Dot can trigger Alexa Routines based on sound detection, such as a dog barking, water running, or someone snoring.

Size and shape: As mentioned, I prefer the Pop’s look to the Dot’s. While it’s only slightly smaller (3.9” x 3.3” x 3.6” compared to 3.9” x 3.9” x 3.5” ), the design fits better on a desk or bedside table. I am a big fan of the new purple color, too, but I’ve always had a penchant for purple products. The teal is a bit muddy looking, more gray than green, but also more discreet than any of the other Dot colors.

What the Pop? Oddly, the Pop doesn’t have the Action button, which almost every other Echo does. This lets you call Alexa without saying its name. I actually use it a lot and missed it here. The only other Echo without it is the Echo Spot, which this device heavily resembles in form factor (although there’s no screen or camera).

There is also no option for a clock display with the Pop. My favorite Dot is the Echo Dot with Clock, which uses a dot matrix display to show the time and a few other bits of useful info. That’s not an option here, although Amazon did relocate the Alexa LED light from the bottom, where it is in the Dot, to the top, where it appears as a small strip (you can adjust its brightness in the Alexa app).

Should you buy it?

Amazon Echo Pop

If you are already deep into an Alexa-powered smart home, the Pop makes sense for the one or two rooms where you can’t justify spending $50 on another speaker (or couldn’t wait for one of Amazon’s frequent sales).

It’s also a good upgrade for any aging early-gen Echos you still have, anything older than the third-gen that came out in 2018. It’s worth upgrading from the third-gen, too, if you don’t need that 3.5mm jack, as the Pop is faster, sounds better, and looks way nicer. I wouldn’t replace a fourth- or fifth-gen Dot with a Pop, though, as you lose features.

Faqs

1) Which is the best echo speaker ?

Ans) The Echo (4th Gen) is still my top recommendation for an Echo speaker.
If you’re new to Amazon Alexa, get the Pop if you want to try out this smart speaker malarkey — $40 is a steal for a piece of tech that can do everything the Pop can. Also, consider this if you want to start adding smart devices to your home and are intrigued by the new Matter smart home standard.

This is the cheapest Matter controller you can buy — although it’s Wi-Fi only, so it won’t work with all Matter devices. For full Matter compatibility, you’d need to bump up to one that adds support for the Thread protocol, such as the larger Echo (4th Gen).

The Echo (4th Gen) is still my top recommendation for an Echo speaker, and it’s been on sale for as low as $50. If it’s a choice between a fourth-gen Echo and an Echo Pop — there’s no contest. While the Echo (4th Gen) still doesn’t have Amazon’s latest processor, it is an excellent smart speaker and a more useful smart home hub. It does everything the Dot can, plus adds Zigbee compatibility as well as Thread, and it sounds really good.

2) What is Amazon Echo Pop India price, availability?

The V-series claims to bring QLED TVs at an affordable price, but the exact pricing has not been revealed yet. Apple Stores in India Record Monthly Sales of Over Rs 22-25 Crore Each

0

HIGHLIGHTS

1. Apple Stores in India are generating record billings for the company.
2. The Apple BKC store saw opening-day billings of over Rs 10 crore.
3. Despite half the size, Apple Saket in New Delhi has generated similar revenue since its opening.

Apple opened its first official store in April in India. The first Apple Store in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) opened its doors to customers on April 18. Another Apple Store followed it in New Delhi’s Saket, which was opened on April 20.

The new Apple Stores offer a unique customer experience, such as Today at Apple, access to Genius Bar and experiencing all Apple products available for sale in India.

Customers are getting attracted to the physical Apple Stores in India if the first month’s sales report is to be believed. A new report claims that Apple stores in India generate record revenue for an electronics store.

Apple’s first two official stores in India have combined grossed monthly sales ranging between Rs 44-50 crores. The report, citing two industry executives aware of the details, claimed that the recorded gross revenues are over two times what could be the highest revenue for an electronics store in the country during the non-Diwali period.

Apple Stores in India

Apple Stores in India were inaugurated by CEO Tim Cook in April. The Apple BKC store saw a billing of over Rs 10 crore on the first day, according to the report. This is reportedly Rs 2-3 crore more than some major local electronic stores post in a month.

While Apple BKC did generate record billings and sales for Apple in India, the smaller Apple Saket store fared better when it came to per-square-foot revenue. Apple BKC is about 22,000 squar Apple BKC feet, whereas the Saket store is over 10,000 square feet.

The report stated that despite being more than half the size smaller than the BKC store, the Saket store recorded similar revenues for Apple. Both stores also had a footfall of over 6,000 people each on the opening day, according to a recent report.

Apple BKC is already among the top 10 Apple-owned stores by sales globally. That being said, it would be interesting to see if the company can see similar billings as the hype dwindles over the coming months.

Apple Stores in India

The India Apple Stores have reportedly exceeded the company’s internal expectations. “The two company-owned Apple Stores in India are setting new benchmarks in terms of absolute and per-square feet revenue,” said one of the executives cited above.

“This is due to the fact that the average selling price (ASP) of Apple products is much higher, which leads to higher revenue, and (since) footfall is still high, with both stores remaining crowded on any given day,” the report, citing one of the two industry executives, added.

The presence of official stores in India will also likely push the iPhone’s ASP to over $1,000 (roughly Rs 82,500) from the current ASP ranging between $935-990 (roughly Rs 77,100 – Rs 81,700) for the offline market.

When it comes to e-commerce, the ASP is said to cross $950 (roughly Rs 78,400), a $100 rise compared to last year, according to IDC India associate vice-president Navkendar Singh.
According to Singh, the rise in ASP is expected to be due to Apple Stores not giving too many discounts and offers.

Monthly sales of Rs 25 cr each! Apple’s India stores hit it out of the park

Apple Stores in India

Apple’s new stores in Delhi and Mumbai have grossed monthly sales of more than Rs 22-25 crore each, The Economic Times (ET) reports. Industry experts have said that the figure is around twice the sales of an electronics store in the country during the non-Diwali period.

This makes Apple Store the largest electronics retailer in the country in terms of revenue. The Apple Store in Mumbai was opened on April 18, and in New Delhi two days after that. CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, was present at the inauguration of both stores.

The Mumbai store is in Jio World Drive, located at Bandra Kurla Complex. Apple BKC reported a first-day billing of more than Rs 10 crore, around Rs 2-3 crore more than some of the largest local electronics stores can do in a month, the ET report said.

Apple's first physical store in India is finally ready and this is what it looks like

Even during the festive season’s prime, large electronic stores in India can do Rs 3-5 crore in sales at their best. This signifies the popularity and demand for Apple devices despite their higher prices.

However, looking at revenue generation per square foot, the store in Saket, New Delhi, takes the cake. Apple Saket is over 10,000 square feet, large as it is, but it is less than half compared to the store in BKC, Mumbai, which measures 22,000 square feet.

The Mumbai store is double the store in Delhi, but the two stores generated similar revenues, ET reported. According to reports, the monthly rent for the store in BKC, Mumbai, is Rs 42 lakh, while the rent for the store in Saket, Delhi, is Rs 40 lakh.

How is Apple doing it?

Apple Stores in India

People aware of the industry trends were quoted in the report, which said that the two Apple stores could set new sales records because the average selling price (ASP) of Apple products is much higher.

This leads to higher revenue, and given the following of the Apple brand, both stores remain crowded almost every day. The experts added that the sales from Apple Stores exceeded the company’s estimates.

Associate vice-president of market research firm IDC India, Navkendar Singh, says that the iPhone’s ASP in India in the calendar year 2022 was $935-990 through offline channels; the figure stood at $890 for online sales.

With the two Apple Stores in the picture, iPhone’s overall ASP will likely cross $950. This figure is separate from the 18 per cent GST applicable on smartphones.

Indian market and Apple

The Indian smartphone market is identified as price-sensitive, looking for the biggest bang for its buck. Given this background, it will be interesting to see if the two stores can sustain their sales numbers.

A market expert said sales would obviously go up during an iPhone launch, and if Apple decides to allocate higher inventory to its stores, the sales at stores will only go up.
This is significant since there was a higher demand and relatively low supply of iPhones at the time of launch.

Faqs on Apple Retail Store

1) What is the size of the Apple Retail Store in Mumbai & Apple Retail Store in Saket Delhi ?

Ans) The 22,000-sq.ft. flagship store is coming at Reliance Industries’ Jio World Drive mall. The Delhi store, meanwhile, in Select Citywalk Mall in Saket will be spread over 10,000 sq.ft.

2) How many apple retail stores are there in the world ?

Ans) Apple has over 500 retail stores in major parts of the world, including Dubai, New York, Istanbul and London.

3) How has Apple financial graph been in India ?

Ans) Apple sold 2 million iPhones in India in the holiday quarter (Q4) of 2022, registering 18 per cent growth (quarter-on-quarter) for its flagship device. The India market share of iPhones reached 5.5 per cent for 2022, an 11 per cent growth (year-on-year).

Google Pixel 8 Listed by Wireless Power Consortium Certification Website; supported by 12W Wireless Charging Support

0
Google Pixel 8

HIGHLIGHTS

1. Google Pixel 8 is likely to launch in October 2023.
2. Ahead of the launch, the Google flagship has visited the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) certification website.
3. The listing reveals the wireless charging details of the upcoming Pixel smartphone.

Google Pixel 8 series is expected to launch later this year.
The company is likely to launch two premium smartphones under its flagship series in October.

Unlike last year, Google did not preview the Pixel 8 series at I/O 2023.

However, there have been a lot of leaks in the past, which have revealed some key details about the Pixel 8 series. Adding to the development is a new listing on the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) certification website.

The upcoming Google flagship has passed the regulatory website ahead of its official release.
The listing reveals that the Pixel 8 will offer support for wireless charging.

Google Pixel 8

While the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro aren’t expected to be introduced until October, the Pixel 8 visited the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and ended up on its certification website.
The certification reveals (unsurprisingly) that the Pixel 8 will support wireless charging.

The listing reveals that the smaller and less expensive of the two flagship models will come with a model number of GKWS6.

Some Pixel fans will not be too pleased to note that the listing shows that the Pixel 8 will feature 12W wireless charging which is the same as found on the Pixel 7.

No improvements will be seen in that area. And with support for Qi standard 1.2.4, the Pixel 8 will not have the Qi2 charging standard which would allow the Pixel 8 to charge wirelessly using magnets like Apple’s MagSafe feature allows.

Google Pixel 8

Don’t panic at the image of the “Pixel 8” used on the WPC’s listing of the phone. That is merely a placeholder and renders already seen for the Pixel 8 reveal thinner bezels than what you are looking at when viewing the WPC listing.

The latest rumored specs for the Pixel 8 call for a 6.2-inch OLED display which is a tenth of an inch smaller than the 6.3-inch display utilized by the Pixel 7. The screen will refresh at 120Hz.
The phone will be a little more rounded on the corners and the rear camera bar will make another appearance with a 64MP main camera, a 48MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.

A previous leak of a Pixel 8 case reveals that the phone will have three cameras on the back this year instead of the two seen on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7.

Google Pixel 8

A 16MP front-facing camera is expected. The Google Tensor 3 should be under the hood and the basic configuration will come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A 5000mAh battery will keep the lights on.

The latest rumored specs for the Pixel 8 Pro call for a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 1440 x 3120 (QHD+) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Tensor 3 will drive the device with the basic configuration weighing in at 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The rear camera bar will feature a 64MP main camera, a 48MP periscope lens telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. A front-facing 16MP camera will handle selfies and video chats.

Google Pixel 8

A 5100mAh battery keeps the lights on and the phone will have a sensor that takes the user’s temperature.

Let’s take a look at the Google Pixel 8 specifications, features and other details known so far.

Google Pixel 8: Won’t Get Qi2 Wireless Charging Support

Google Pixel 8

The Google Pixel 8 will be one of the two flagship smartphones from the company launching later this year. It has the model number GKWS6.
According to the listing, which explicitly confirms the moniker of the phone, the Pixel 8 will support 12W wireless charging.

In case you are wondering, yes, the wireless charging support is the same as the Pixel 7. Moreover, the listed Qi standard, which is 1.2.4, further reveals that the Pixel 8 will not support Qi2 wireless charging standard, which was announced recently to provide support for wireless charging using magnets like Apple’s MagSafe.

There is a placeholder image, which shows the Pixel phone with thick bezels around the display and a hole-punch cutout at the top centre. We revealed the exclusive Pixel 8 design renders, which show thinner bezels than the one used in the image for the WPC listing.

Google Pixel 8

The screen of the Pixel 8 will continue to remain flat and sport a hole-punch cutout at the top centre. We also revealed that the phone has a 6.2-inch OLED display, which will be marginally smaller than the current Pixel 7’s 6.3-inch panel.

The Pixel 8 is more rounded around the corners, which helps it differentiate from the Pixel 7’s sort of boxy design. The rear camera will continue to sit on top of a horizontal visor-like module.

There will be a pill-shaped cutout to house a dual-camera setup. The phone also has an LED flash module and a tiny microphone cutout next to the camera sensors.

Google Pixel 8

Our leaks suggest that the Pixel 8 will measure roughly about 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm. The device is also likely to feature the upcoming Tensor G3 SoC under the hood, which will likely have improved power efficiency over the predecessor SoC.

We can also expect the phone to launch with the latest Android 14 update out of the box. Other details about the phone are under wraps.

Like the Pixel 7 series, the upcoming Pixel 8 series is likely to launch in India as well. We will share more details about the same as and when available.

Faqs on Google Pixel 8 & Google Pixel 8 Pro

1) What are the specifications of Google pixel 8 ?

Ans) The report also goes on to reveal certain key specifications of the Google Pixel 8 Pro. It is expected to sport a 6.52-inch display panel with a punch-hole style cutout for selfie camera. The dimensions are revealed to be 162.6×76.5×8.7mm, with a thickness of 12mm around the camera bump.

Notably, we saw the first-ever Pixel 8 series leak in November 2022. It revealed that the codenames for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are “Shiba” and “Husky” respectively. The report also suggested that the Pixel 8 series could see a new processor, most likely the Tensor G3, which had been codenamed “Zuma”.

2) What are the specifications of Google Pixel 8 Pro?

Ans) The report suggests the smartphone will sport a 5.8-inch display with the same punch-hole camera design up top. Other than that, features around the smartphone remain largely same as those seen on the Pixel 8 Pro renders.

Furthermore, the dimensions are expected to be 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm, with a maximum thickness of 12mm around the camera module. This makes it smaller than the Pixel 7.
Apart from the dimensions and screen size, the Pixel 8 will likely be powered by the yet-to-be announced Tensor G3 processor from Google. The full-HD+ screen could come with a resolution of 2268 x 1080 pixels. Other specifications could be leaked closer to the expected Google I/O 2023 launch.

3) Pixel 8 Design Renders: What You Need to Know?

Ans) The Google Pixel 8 will be the entry-level flagship in the company’s premium smartphone lineup for 2023 and is expected to be unveiled in May 2023.
Ahead of the launch, tipster OnLeaks has shared the design renders of the upcoming Pixel flagship smartphone, which reveal that it will continue to feature a dual-camera setup.
The phone is likely to miss out on a telephoto camera sensor, which might remain exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro.

There is an LED flash outside the oval-shaped camera module on the protruding visor. The phone is a lot more rounded around the corners.

This itself gives the Pixel 8 a different look compared to the boxy design of the Pixel 7. The change in design also has resulted in the Pixel 8 sporting a smaller display.

OnLeaks tells us that the Pixel 8 will have a circa 5.8-inch display. The screen will remain flat and sport a hole-punch cutout at the top centre.

The Pixel 8 is also smaller than its predecessor, according to OnLeaks.
The phone will measure roughly about 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm. If you include the thick camera visor, the Pixel 8 will measure 12mm.

The frame is curved and houses the power and volume buttons on the right edge.
We can also see some antenna lines on the frame, suggesting that the phone will come with a metal chassis.

At the bottom edge, there is the USB Type-C port with cutouts for the primary speaker and the microphone.

4) Google Pixel 8 series: what we know so far?

Ans) There isn’t much known about the Pixel 8 yet but based on leaks so far here’s what we know:

Pixel 8 is expected to feature a FHD+ display with 2268 x 1080 resolution.
The smartphone along with the Pixel 8 Pro will be powered by a new chipset called ‘Zuma’ which will most likely be the Tensor G3 chipset.

Speaking about the Pixel 8 Pro, it will come with this new built-in thermometer that can be used to measure your body’s temperature. It has an infrared sensor that is placed at the back next to the cameras. This feature is however, said to be restricted to the Pro variant and not the Pixel 8.

The Pixel 8 Pro is also said to sport Samsung’s 50MP ISOCELL GN2 camera sensor that is 1/1.12-inch in size making it Samsung’s biggest camera sensor yet. A bigger camera sensor will result in photos having better images and higher resolution as well.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro is also expected to feature a 6.52-inch display.

5) Google Pixel 8 certification confirms no upgrade in wireless charging speed.Details?

Ans) No Qi2 wireless charging for the Google Pixel 8
The Google Pixel 8 with the model number GKWS6 has been certified by the Wireless Power Consortium to come with Qi wireless charging support. The certification also confirms that the Pixel 8 will offer a maximum of 12W wireless charging speed. This also means that we won’t see the new Qi2 wireless charging technology on the Pixel 8.

Announced earlier this year, Qi2 is an upgrade over Qi as it’s built on Apple’s MagSafe technology using magnets that ensures effective wireless charging. The iPhone 15 series is also reportedly getting compatibility for Qi2 wireless charging other than MagSafe charging, which means access to cheaper third-party magnetic wireless chargers.

There’s no confirmation on whether the Pixel 8 Pro will be compatible with Qi2 but considering how the Pixel 8 will not it seems unlikely for the ‘Pro’ variant too.
