Speaking about OTT, Khan said that he doesn’t believe that OTT is a “cooler version of TV” irrespective of the popular belief these days and that he has been in show business since 1989, yet he never did it.

He criticised OTT content saying “vulgarity, nudity, and gaali galoch (abusive content)” needs to stop and suggested that there must be censorship on these platforms too.

He expressed concerns over the accessibility of such content to young kids, “Ab 15-16 saal ka bacche dekh sakte hai. Apko acha lagega apki choti se beti ye sab dekhe… padhne ke bahane.”  Khan reiterated that there is a need to keep a tab on the OTT content, “Jitna clean hoga content, utna behtar hoga, viewership uski zyada hogi.”

Salman also took a dig at actors who have performed intimate scenes on screen. “Aapne sab kuch kar lia… love making, kissing, expose kar lia aur aap apne building mein ghus rahe hai aur apka watchman aapka content dekh raha hai,” said Salman, stating it can be a “security” concern. “Hindustan mein rehte hai, thoda boht theek hai lekin itna zyada beech mein ho gya tha. Ab jake thoda control mein aya hai,” he elaborated.

Salman emphasised on the fact that in the OTT race, some talented actors even manage to do such scenes but those who deny it are often left behind. He strongly suggested the idea of censorship and said if films and TV can have censorship where they provide adult certificates to movies based on censorship policies, then why can’t OTT content go through the same process of censorship evaluation?

The Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan actor added that some people who are ‘talented’ manage to do it but actors, who are not comfortable with it, are left behind in the OTT race. He wondered if films and TV can have censorship, why not OTT.

During the launch, he also shed light on the film industries shooting in smaller cities, citing the rebate they get from these places. Salman Khan said that Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and even Haryana pay a rebate to producers, and for small-budget films, that makes a lot of difference. He hoped that Maharashtra too would start the process which could help more people in the business.
