Review

First and foremost, let’s quickly understand what exactly is an Ultra Short Throw projector. It is a type of projector that requires very minimal space between the projection device and the surface aimed for projection, even to cast an image in a large format.

A UST projector offers a throw ratio of less than 0.4:1 as compared to the more traditional 2:1 throw ratio of regular projectors. This means we can get an 80-inch image projected from just 14 centimetres of distance using a UST projector.

The first that is instantly noticeable about Formovie THEATER is its compact design. Projectors are usually massive in size and sometime a bit of an eyesore, especially when used as home entertainment devices. But Formovie has taken care of that with this projector.

Formovie THEATER

The lightweight portable design of Formovie THEATER is probably the smallest in the market today. Moreover, the usual perception of a bigger projector means better sound or lens quality is myth Formovie breaks with their product’s performance despite being small in size.

Formovie THEATER supports HDR 10 Dolby Vision Dolby Atmos 2. It is being advertised as a laser projector, ultra short throw from LAPD with RGB plus technology. The image quality is quite outstanding considering the style of the projector. It has a maximum brightness of 2800 ANC lumens and is running on Android TV 11, which is the latest version.

Formovie THEATER is quite impactful for someone who hasn’t experienced UST projectors. The device has three brightness modes for users to adjust as per requirement. There is an “Office Mode”, “Viewing Mode” and “Night Mode.” All three settings simply decrease the brightness level of the display.

The built-in speakers from Bowers and Wilkins are really impressive and provide optimum sound quality as a part of this projector.

For connectivity, we get almost everything that one would expect from a UST projector. We have three HDMI ports with one HDMI E-ARC port, which is the Enhanced Audio Return Channel for better handling of all the plugins.

All ports are located at the back of the projector, which is something of a clever way to manage the cables but may not be the most convenient position for changing wires once the device settles in its space.

In such situations, the usual resolution is to reach out to a computer and connect to iTunes in order to regain access to your iPhone. When your iPhone is disabled, you don’t usually have to directly connect to iTunes via a computer. iPhone usually provides few chances for the user to remember the correct password and try again after “X” minutes to unlock the iPhone.

For example, for every 5 wrong passcode attempts, iPhone gets disabled for 1 minute and you can re-try entering the correct passcode to unlock the device after 1 minute. Similarly, after every 7 wrong passcode attempts, iPhone gets disabled for 5 minutes giving a chance of entering the correct password after 5 minutes.

During this time period, the iPhone remains disabled and it is only when you can’t enter the correct passcode after time-lapse that the prompt to connect to iTunes is displayed.

Tecno Phantom X2

Techno this week held its flagship launch event in Dubai to unveil the two new additions to the Phantom series – Tecno Phantom X2 and Tecno Phantom X2 Pro. Official successors to Tecno Phantom X boasting strong upgrades, both the newly launched flagship models have too much in common to differentiate as it appears from the specification sheet.

Keeping the similar design aspects aside, Phantom X2 and X2 Pro also have the same 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass screen protection, MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Chipsets, Android 12 OS, Memory Fusion (Virtual RAM), 5G connectivity, and 5160mAh battery with 45W fast charging support.

So, with all these similarities, what is the difference between both devices? And in case you would have to choose one, which one between Tecno Phantom X2 and Tecno Phantom X2 Pro would be the best for you? Let’s find out the answers to these questions in our quick Tecno Phantom X2 and Tecno Phantom X2 Pro reviews below.

Tecno Phantom X2 – 6.8-inch AMOLED Display, Dimensity 9000, 64MP Camera and More

The processor and camera are the highlights of Phantom X2, but we will get to that later. Let’s take a look at the display and design first. This comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED high definition plus dot notch display.

This is quite clearly not the best display in the segment, however, the brand does pack up some extra cool features to make it impressive. The 20:9 ultra-wide cinema-like screen ratio, P3 wide colour gamut and 120Hz refresh rate with the toughest Gorilla glass protection do make up for the otherwise ordinary display.

The Phantom X2 has a unibody double curved screen design for a smooth touch and is easy to use. The design is quite futuristic and has a delicate texture that lends a premium look to the phone. It has 71 degrees ergonomic golden grip angle and as per the brand’s claim in the advertisements, the world’s first 3.5D lunar crater with dazzling stained glass.

Overall, the smartphone does make an impression aesthetic-wise, even though the overall back panel is quite polarising in its appeal. Phantom X2 will be available in Moonlight Silver and Stardust Grey colour options.

Camera-wise, Tecno Phantom X2 is quite grand. But let’s talk about the rear camera setup at the back. The design, as mentioned above, is quite polarising with a big chunky design. It is packed with a 64 MP ultra-clear night portrait lens for night photography and videography. The lens is supported by light transmission glass, an RGBW sensor, a G+P lens, and an improved light-chaser sensor for providing more vivid night portraits.

Moreover, the ISOCELL light-locking tech in the smartphone will substantially reduce noise in your images. You also get a 32 MP ultra-clear selfie camera designed to facilitate crisp professional looking portraits. The selfie camera support in Phantom X2 comes further with a 3x ultra-clear lens, AI smart beauty features and a front flash.

Tecno Phantom X2 Pro – Eco-friendly edition, 6.8-inch AMOLED display, Dimensity 9000 & more

Before we take an in-depth look at the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro, let’s look at the original eco-friendly special edition of the device. Tecno has unveiled a variant of Phantom X2 Pro in Mars Orange colour that the brand is claiming as the world’s first renewable fibre back cover made up of more than 50 recycled materials and 100% renewable materials. The variant design was also recognised in the Loop Design Awards as an Honorable Mention 2022.

Apart from the special edition, Tecno Phantom X2 Pro has been launched in a regular Stardust Grey variant, which is almost identical to the Phantom X2 design and specification wise barring a few changes in the camera department.

A sureshot highlight of the Phantom X2 Pro is again the camera technology just as it is in the Phantom X2 but here there are special upgrades. This X2 Pro camera, as per the brand’s claim, is the world’s first ever retractable portrait lens on a smartphone. So, what does that mean? It means exactly what a retractable lens means. It is an expanding lens for expanding photography capabilities.

Supporting retractable lens is a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel, 2.5 x portrait lens and a 13-megapixel Ultra wide lens. Now, for a Tecno device, this is a much more sophisticated technology. This definitely enhanced the portrait imaging quality and coupled with the professional camera grader large aperture, this will surely offer high-end smartphone photography and videography experience.

The camera mould in ideal circumstances should take a second or two to expand and as per the brand, it is a dust-resistant lens that is robust enough to survive minor falls.

Other than this, Phantom X2 Pro also sports a similar 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass screen protection, MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Chipsets, Android 12 OS, Memory Fusion (Virtual RAM), 5G connectivity, and 5160mAh battery with 45W fast charging support as you would find in the X2 model.

The usual perception of Tecno as a smartphone brand is that its a budget or mid-range smartphone brand. But it appears the brand is striving to change that perspective by entering the flagship market.

The Phantom variants launched now are definitely a feat in that direction. Tecno is yet to reveal the price of both models. Tech bloggers have been expecting an arrival in the Indian market by the end of this month, so by the timeline, we should have a clearer picture of their price range.

Camera

What???? A 200 MP camera and you must trust, this delivers well on the money. Well is it well-balanced? Kind of! The 200 MP camera along with 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, 2MP macro camera, and 20MP front camera is barely setting well.

No doubt, the 200 MP camera is providing “unprecedented image clarity, low-light capabilities, and quick focus.” Moreover, it is enabling Night mode and Ultra Night Video with up to 8K resolution, along with motion-capture, motion-tracking focus, and eye-tracking focus. However, a 200 MP camera can not sail the boat with weak supporting cameras.

Pro Audio, graphics, and Performance

‘Crystal clear’ is the word for this supersonic dual speaker by Harman Kardon. Play music and get that ‘oomph’ you are never leaving the song in between and don’t start with the gaming experience with pro audio as you will be left highly impressed. Audio-wise, full marks and the Bluetooth 5.2 technology will surely make your experience remarkable.

Excellent Performance needs a strong processor and Xiaomi has powered Xiaomi 12T Pro with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and the world is gushing and praising the efficiency of qualcomm’s new chipset. Moreover, the handset has 12GB of RAM and 256GB for storage. Installing the essential and may some insignificant app will barely hit the performance hard.

Guess what, watched a movie, and played games on the handset the graphics were great with 120 fps.

Battery life

120W HyperCharge claiming “be ready in just 19 minutes,” from 0% to 100%, well it really takes over 20 minutes but who’s complaining? And 5,000mAh battery capacity is a game changer for 12T Pro that is indeed offering great battery life. Watching movies, talking to friends for hours, playing games, doing work, and what not with a little drop in the battery percent can be considered smart deals.

With a ridiculously fast charger and high battery retention feature this handset is serving some great Green flags. Started using this smartphone at 78% and might as well use it for the whole day long (approx. 12 hours) for almost everything from watching ‘The crown’ recent season to listening songs to playing call of duty and witnessed the battery dropping only to 30%. Insane right?

Xiaomi 12t Pro

Conclusion

This midrange Xiaomi 12T Pro will deliver well on money. A few negligible drawbacks here and there this phone can be in your cart to buy.
