While this doesn’t bode well for India’s economy, budget smartphones have a lot to gain as there might be a 5-7% increase in their prices during the period of October-December 2022, while top brands did not pass down the increase in price rise to consumers due to the festive season.

If the rupee price continues to be the same, then it is likely that things might change from November 2022 and if prices increase, then the average selling price will surge to a record Rs.20,000 during the October-December period from Rs.17,000 during the April-June 2022 period.

While budget friendly smartphones might witness an upswing in fortunes, premium smartphones will not be affected by the weakening of rupee, at least for now as Apple has already hiked its 5G iPhone price in September 2022 due to rupee’s abysmal performance, which Samsung had already done in 2021.

The festive season is just around the corner due to which analysts have penned their hopes on Diwali but there are many of them that predict the bad phase to continue for another eight to ten months.

The festival season will definitely lead to an upsurge in sales and customers that have been delaying purchases are sure to expect excellent discount offers and massive promotions on devices, not to mention price drops on devices belonging to older generations.

Whether the market will recover or not depends on whether sales during Q4 phase pick or not, which is seen as the proverbial turning point for the market that might work wonders if all goes well.

Apple was the only tech giant that had a massive positive growth in the September quarter, which was due to high demands for iPhone 14 even though its market was fragile but the company has improved its market share from 15% to 18% in the 2021-22 period while Xiaomi and Samsung’s share was stable at 14% and 22%, respectively.

Motorola has strongly hinted the prototype of a rollable smartphone that can extend and retract by a couple of inches for which the company showed a demo video with the smartphone, although only the front panel was glimpsed by the public as Motorola did not reveal any more pictures of the device.

There were reports that Motorola had been working on a rollable smartphone model that went by the codename ‘Felix’, which was rumoured to extend vertically that was interestingly similar to the smartphone prototype that was hinted at the Lenovo event.

Many people are guessing that this could be the Felix model that Motorola has been working on around early 2022 and is speculated to be small in size and quite pocket friendly when unrolled.

Since the device was in the early stages of development at the time, there were many reports doing the rounds that that the company was using a modified Motorola Edge 30 Pro for software tests that were being conducted.

It seems that Motorola has not revealed anything about its plans to launch any smartphone based on the prototype model shown at the Lenovo event, which is why people are highly curious to gain more knowledge on the matter.

The video shown at the event only showed a glimpse of the front panel and since many other smartphone brands are doing their own bid to launch their own foldable handsets, users are quite confused as to which brand model it could be.

However, it was revealed at the Lenovo Tech World 2022 event that the smartphone measures 6.5 inches when extended and goes down to 4 inches when retracted but the demo video did reveal that this rollable handset will have a flexible OLED panel, despite only a glimpse of it being shown.
