Now, there is no particular way to test this other than long term usage, but overall for the time we used the smartwatch, battery performance seemed decent.

The Government of India has reduced GST on home appliances and mobile phones. The GST introduction completes the sixth-year anniversary today, July 1, 2023.

The tax came into effect on July 1, 2017, through the implementation of the One Hundred and First Amendments of the Constitution of India by the Indian Government. The GST replaced existing multiple taxes levied by the central and state governments.

The GST for TV up to 27 inches was reduced from 31.3% to 18%, GST for Refrigerators reduced from 31.3% to 18%, GST for Washing Machine reduced from 31.3% to 18%, GST for electrical appliances like Mixer, Juicer, Vacuum cleaner, etc.

GST is the Goods and Services Tax in other words. GST is a successor to VAT used in India for the supply of goods and services. GST is a digitalized form of VAT where you can also track goods and services.

Both VAT and GST have the same taxation slabs. It is a comprehensive, multistage, destination-based tax.

It is comprehensive because it has subsumed almost all the indirect taxes except a few state taxes.

GST is imposed at every step in the production process but is meant to be refunded to all parties in the various stages of production other than the final consumer and as a destination-based tax, it is collected from the point of consumption and not a point of origin like previous taxes.

The Ministry of Finance celebrated six years of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in India.
The official social media handles of the Ministry of Finance shared an image highlighting the benefits of GST compared to the previous regime, where there were multiple taxes involved, which resulted in a higher cumulative value.

The timing of the post led to confusion among several users online, including some prominent, individual social media influencers, who celebrated the reduction of GST on mobile phones.

But is that really the case though? Well, sorry to burst the bubble, but no. The GST on mobile phones has not been reduced in India. At the time of the implementation of GST, the government set a 12 per cent tax on mobile phones.

Later, after the 39th GST council meeting, the Government of India increased GST on mobile phones and set it to 18 per cent effective from April 1, 2020.

Since then, smartphone companies have been paying up to 18 per cent GST on mobile handsets, which were transferred and taken from the consumer’s pocket.

During Budget 2023, the government reduced GST on mobile phones and brought it down to 12 per cent. However, consumers are yet to see the benefits of the same as the price of components, logistics, etc.

Have remained unaffected due to external factors, such as supply chain disruptions, the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and the fluctuating value of the Indian rupee against the US dollar.

This has led to consumers paying more directly or indirectly. If the prices of phones remained the same, they did not provide the same value in terms of hardware and features.

Alternatively, phones that featured upgraded hardware over the outgoing model attracted significantly higher prices.

Overall, the GST on mobile phones remains the same at 12 per cent and has not changed.
However, several users seem to have been mistaken by the latest post, which compared the taxes during the pre and post-GST eras.
The GST on various household appliances and mobile phones has been reduced.

Earlier, a consumer needs to pay 31.3 percent GST while buying a mobile phone.
This has now been reduced to 12 percent, which will allow mobile phone companies to cut the price of their phones.

3) Will Home appliances be cheaper?

Ans) Home appliances like refrigerators and washing machines, as well as fans, coolers, geysers, etc., will also be cheaper.

The GST on these home appliances has been slashed from 31.3 percent to 18 percent, which means a price reduction of up to 12 percent.

Other household appliances such as mixers, juicers, vacuum cleaners, LEDs, vacuum flasks and vacuum utensils have also got a GST cut.

The GST on mixers, juicers, etc. has gone down from 31.3 percent to 18 percent while the GST on LEDs has gone down from 15 percent to 12 percent.

4) What is the Government GST collection for May ?

Ans) Meanwhile, the government GST collection in the month of May 2023 was Rs 1,57,090 crore, which was 12% higher than the GST collection in the same month last year. The GST collection for May 2023 included 28,411 crore collected towards CGST, Rs 35,828 crore towards SGST, and Rs 81,363 crore towards IGST (including Rs 41,772 crore collected on import of goods).

The state-wise break-up of GST collections in May 2023 showed that Maharashtra posted the highest GST collection in absolute terms at Rs 23,536 crore. Other states like Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh also showed high GST collections. The GST collections for May 2023 were attributed to the improved economic activity and the increased compliance by taxpayer.

Samsung could add a new variant to its Galaxy S-series lineup in India. Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is expected to be updated with the Snapdragon 888 processor in the country. This move comes after the brand initially launched the phone in January last year.

A new tweet from tipster Tarun Vats has tipped that the South Korean conglomerate will launch the Snapdragon 888 Galaxy S21 FE at a price of around Rs 40,000 in India in July. The company has apparently started training its offline retail executives for this upcoming launch.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE was originally unveiled at a price tag of Rs 54,999 with the smartphone maker’s in-house Exynos 2100 chipset. The launch is rather unexpected but not the first time for the company.

What’s interesting is that the move comes ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE global launch, with the first look of the device leaking recently.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is all set to be relaunched in India if the latest reports are to be believed. According to a Twitter user @tarunvats33, the chaebol will soon relaunch the popular Samsung Galaxy S21 FE in India.

Notably, the new variant will flaunt the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Samsung already has the Exynos 2100 variant of the Fan Edition on sale in India, starting at Rs 32,999 in the country.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE to Get Snapdragon 888 SoC in India

As mentioned before, tipster Tarun Vats has claimed on Twitter that the South Korean brand is all set to launch the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE in India, this time with the Snapdragon 888 chipset.

According to the tweet, the new smartphone will launch in India in July, priced around Rs 40,000. Apart from the pricing and processor, we can expect the other smartphone specifications to remain the same.

Another tweet from Anvin (@zionsanvin) has revealed the BIS listing of the Snapdragon 888 variant of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE.
The Indian regulatory listing confirms that the smartphone is nearing its launch in India. The model number listed on the BIS website is SM-G990B2/DS.

Yet another popular tipster, Abhishek Yadav has recently claimed that the Galaxy S21 FE Snapdragon 888 variant will launch in the next 10 days. Yadav also shared leaked promo materials revealing that the smartphone will come in Navy Blue colour and 256GB storage.

Notably, both Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 SoC are fabricated on a 5nm process. These processors have a cluster of eight CPU cores, including Cortex-X1, Cortex-A78, and Cortex-A55.
The GPU on both chipsets differs – Adreno 660 graphics on Snapdragon 888 and Mali-G78 MP14 on Exynos 2100 SoC. The Snapdragon unit is said to be snappier and more efficient in terms of battery.

Coming to the specs, the smartphone features a 6.4-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The display offers a refresh rate of 120Hz, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and up to 240Hz touch sampling rate.
For cameras, the phone offers a triple 12MP + 12MP + 8MP setup on the rear panel and a 32MP selfie camera.

It boots OneUI 5 based on Android 13 and is powered by a 4,500mAh battery. The battery supports 25W fast charging.

The Exynos variant has 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. It remains to be seen what RAM configurations are offered for the Snapdragon 888 variant.

Samsung made a similar move with Galaxy S20 FE

Samsung brought the Snapdragon 865-laden Galaxy S20 FE almost half a year after launching the Exynos 990 variant of the phone, in March 2021. What’s different is that the S20 FE with Snapdragon 865 not only provided better performance but also enabled 5G in the market.

Redmi K70e, K70, and K70 Pro model numbers have emerged in the IMEI database, according to a report by Xiaomiui. These devices will replace the Redmi K60e, K60, and K60 Pro, which were announced in December 2022.

Apart from revealing the model numbers, the report has also revealed the chipsets of the K70 trio. In addition, two new POCO devices have also emerged in the IMEI database.

These devices, which are said to be the POCO F6 and the POCO F6 Pro, are likely to be rebranded versions of the K70 and K70 Pro.

According to the listing spotted by Xiaomi UI (via), the K70e has the model number 23117RK66C. There is also the K70 with the model number 2311DRK48C. The K70 Pro, lastly, has the model number 23113RKC6C. The model numbers suggest that the K70 series will likely launch in November 2023.

The report also mentions that the POCO F6 series has cleared the IMEI database. The vanilla F6 has the model number 2311DRK48I, whereas the F6 Pro has the model numbers 23113RKC6G and 23113RKC6I.

The IMEI database does not specifically mention any specifications or features of the upcoming K70 series or the POCO F6 series.

Since this is the first major listing of the K70 series and the F6 series, not much is known about the specifications or features of the flagship phones.

While some rumors claim the company will skip the unveiling of the Galaxy Buds 3, it looks like the company will unveil the Galaxy SmartTag 2.

The company’s next-generation object location tracker, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 (EI-T5600), has been spotted in the Bluetooth SIG database (via MySmartPrice).

The location tracker has passed the Bluetooth certification test, and the documents reveal that it will feature a newer version of Bluetooth (v5.3). In comparison, the first-generation Galaxy SmartTag features Bluetooth 5.1 (with LE).

So, the newer location tracker will feature a more stable connection and improved battery life.

Bluetooth 5.3 features various features to improve power efficiency, stability, and security. Devices using Bluetooth 5.3 can switch between high-power and low-power states faster, which means that when the device isn’t being actively used, it will sip less power.
