Today Tecno unveiled the Pova 5 – the first phone in the new Pova 5 series, which will also feature the Pova 5 Pro and Pova Neo 3. There’s also a limited Free Fire Special Edition of the Pova 5, in collaboration with the Garena-hosted battle royale game.

The Pova 5 features a futuristic design that Tecno calls Turbo Mecha. The lines resemble the giant robot mecha of popular sci-fi.

The Tecno Pova 5 draws power from a 6,000mAh battery with 45W charging support. The included brick can take the phone to 50% in 21 minutes and to full in 60 minutes. And, if you have some extra battery left, the Pova 5 can reverse-charge other devices via cable up to 10W.

The battery is also backed by Battery Lab 3.0 software for endurance and STS Secure Battery Technology for longevity and peace of mind.

MediaTek’s 6nm Helio G99 is at the helm and it comes packaged with 8GB of RAM. The phone features a total of 10,749mm2 heat dissipation area comprised of a 1399.65mm2 vapor chamber, and a 9349.39mm2 graphene heat sink.

The display of the Tecno Pova 5 is a 6.78-inch 1080x24460px IPS LCD of 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate.

The Tecno Pova 5 has a 50MP camera on the back, accompanied by a depth sensor, and an 8MP selfie on the front.
There are also niceties like a z-axis linear vibration motor and dual speakers with DTS Sound.

Tecno will offer the Pova 5 in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America in Hurricane Blue, Amber Gold, and Mecha Black. The pricing will be announced for each individual market later on.

As for the Tecno Pova Neo 3, it brings a bigger 6.82-inch display, but with a lower 720x1640px resolution. But its biggest asset, literally, is its 7,000mAh battery.

The Pova Neo 3 uses a 12nm MediaTek Helio G85 with 4GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
There are two cameras on the Pova Neo 3 – a 16MP main unit and an 8MP selfie. The phone will ship in the same three colors as the Pova 5.

Alongside, the Pova 5, Tecno also has unveiled the limited Free Fire Special Edition of the Pova 5, in collaboration with the Garena-hosted battle royale game.

Furthermore, the phone also has a 10,749mm2 heat dissipation area, comprising of a 1399.65mm2 vapour chamber, and a 9349.39mm2 graphene heat sink.
Under the hood, the device is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 SoC which is coupled with 8GB of RAM.

In terms of imaging, the device features a dual-camera setup. The camera module consists of a 50MP primary camera and a depth sensor.
On the front side, the handset features a 8MP selfie camera. The phone packs a 6,000mAh battery which supports 45W fast charging.

The charging adapter is included in the box. Tecno claims that the smartphone’s battery can be charged to 50% in 21 minutes and to full in 60 minutes.

Additionally, the handset also supports 10W reverse charging. Last but not least, the handset also has a  z-axis linear vibration motor and dual speakers with DTS Sound.

Alongside, the Pova 5, Tecno appears to have also introduced the Tecno Pova Neo 3. The device features a 6.82-inch display with a HD+ resolution. Powering the smartphone under the hood there is a Helio G85 SoC.

The phone comes in 4GB or 8GB RAM options along with 128GB of internal storage. For the optics purpose, the handset has a 16MP primary camera and a 8MP selfie camera.

The whole package draws power from a 7,000mAh battery. The device will be available in the same colour options as that of the Pova 5.

Ans) The Tecno Pova 5 just went official and we got a chance to check out its special Free Fire Special Edition. Here’s what we found inside that roomy box.

If you’re not familiar with Free Fire (Seriously? It has 1 billion downloads on Google Play), it’s a battle royale game, by Garena. So Tecno now partnered with the developers to offer the Pova 5 done up in this custom guise.

What it includes is an Amber Gold variant of the phone with a Free Fire sleeve for the box, a gift card valid for in-game purchases, and custom Free Fire stickers (with Kelly).

The other accessories inside the box are a bumper case, a 45W charger, USB cable, and earbuds.

The changes also run inside the phone, where you’re greeted with the Free Fire theme. It has a customized live wallpaper (featuring Hayato, Kelly, Moco, Maxim, or Wukong), custom app icons, and even special ringtone and notification sounds.

Note to potential owners – you will still need to download Free Fire as strangely enough it’s not preinstalled.

After you’ve downloaded it, the Pova 5 has a built-in Game Space powered by what Tecno dubs the Panther Engine – it lets you tweak the gaming experience as well as to limit your distractions.

A note on the Tecno Pova 5’s interesting finish. The design on the back is Mecha-inspired, aiming to replicate the look of a futuristic giant robot. Ours is the Amber Gold variant, but it’s not always yellow in hue. In fact, when looked at an angle, the rear panel is more of a subtle cyan color.

It’s really lovely to look at but that quickly fades due to the smudge-prone glossy finish. The sides are also glossy with a mirrored finish, which perhaps is meant to emulate stainless steel. An impressive design indeed, but also one that’s properly hard to keep clean.
