Specifications of OnePlus upcoming flagship phone, the OnePlus 12 have been leaked.
Confirming an earlier report, Chinese tipster Experience More has recently revealed more information regarding the upcoming phone.

OnePlus 12 is expected to come with better camera hardware and faster charging speed than its predecessor.

Early next year, the Chinese mobile phone brand, known for its high-end devices, OnePlus, is expected to launch its new mobile phone, OnePlus 12.

This is following its usual launch pattern for previous models which arrives at the beginning of the year.
Despite the fact that there are still many months before the official release, it is never too early for the rumour mill to roll out juicy details which we usually take with a grain of salt.
A recent Weibo leak reveals some salient details about the OnePlus 12.
The Weibo handle, @ExperienceMore has had some decent leaks in the recent past. Here are its claims regarding the OnePlus 12

* Launch Date: December 2023
* Chip: Snapdragon 8g3
* Display: Center single punch hole Samsung 2K ultra-narrow curved screen
* Camera: 50MP IMX9 series main camera + 50MP wide-angle + 64MP ov64b periscope telephoto
* Battery: 5000 mAh
* Charging Capacity: 150w
* Others: high probability centred symmetrical circular module

OnePlus 12 Camera

According to @ExperienceMore and Gsmarena, the new 64 MP OV64B by OmniVision will replace the lovely 32 MP IMX709 telephoto lens.
Under the hood, this device will also come with a 5,000 mAh battery which is fairly enough for a 2023 flagship going by the battery capacity in recent high-end phones. Also, this device will support 150W fast charging.
It will not be the first time a OnePlus device uses such high-power charging.
However, there are still some questions about the coming flagship that begs for answers.
Recall that the OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 11 downgraded the triple digit charging standard in North America.
At the moment, we can not tell if the company will also downgrade the charging standard of this OnePlus 12 in North America.

OnePlus has been making pretty decent Android phones in the market, and its latest flagship, the OnePlus 11, is no exception.

However, when it comes to the camera, OnePlus has always lagged behind its competitors.
But that might change with the upcoming OnePlus 12, which is rumoured to come with improved cameras.

Just as the leak implies, Sources also claims that this device will debut in December 2023.

However, it is important to note that previous models like the OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 11 did launch in January.

Periscope Zoom Camera

To corroborate this leak from @ExperienceMore, popular and trusted Weibo leakster, @DigitalChatStation (@DCS) has previously revealed the camera improvement of the OnePlus 12.

According to Android Central, OnePlus is testing a periscope zoom camera for its next flagship phone.
The company has primarily stuck to more conventional zoom cameras in the past.

But it looks like OnePlus may finally catch up with its next flagship.

@DCS also recently revealed that OnePlus and Realme are testing periscope cameras for use on the SM8650, which is expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
This claim is also the same as the recent report from @Expereince More.

This suggests that the OnePlus 12 may be able to get much closer to the action with its new camera lens.
The addition of the new and improved periscope lens means that the OnePlus 12 will be capable of offering better zoom functionality.
For those who love to take photos of distant objects, this is great news.
The current OnePlus 11 offers a 2x optical zoom camera, which is surprisingly decent even when zooming in beyond that point. However, many of the best Android phones have better zoom capabilities, and OnePlus has been lagging behind in this regard.

Another leaker with a pretty decent track record, Yogesh Brar, has further confirmed the camera upgrade of the OnePlus 12.

His report further claims that the phone will have a 6.7-inch QHD OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Two leaks from Experience More and Yogesh Brar agree on the camera, chip and battery. Another leak from @DCS also agrees with the chip info.
However, Experience More and Yogesh Brar vary in their charging capacity. While the former says 150W, the latter presumes a 100W ceiling.

Improved Camera Performance

Trusted Reviews claims that OnePlus has never quite matched the flagship camera experience of its rivals.
This is despite the association with the specialists at Hasselblad.
The absence of long optical zoom has been felt, but it seems the company might be on the way to resolving one of the biggest complaints.
The OnePlus 11 improved the situation, but there are still some niggles that stop it from being the best camera phone around.
With the OnePlus 12, the company is expected to add the final piece of the camera puzzle.

Software Optimization

OnePlus has always been known for its software optimization.
The company claims in a blog post that it has been working hard to improve its camera performance through software updates.
The company has been releasing regular updates to improve the camera performance, and the results have been impressive.
However, the OnePlus 12 is expected to take the camera performance to the next level.

OnePlus 12 periscope camera tipped

The highlight of the leak is a new periscope camera for the OnePlus 12.
This would the make the OnePlus 12 the second phone from the company to feature a periscope camera, assuming the OnePlus V Fold, which is launching later this year, to be the first.
Earlier, tipster Max Jambor had also spoken about the OnePlus 12 getting a periscope lens.
To recall, OnePlus had tested a periscope camera for one of its OnePlus 10 Pro iterations, but it never reached the market.

The OnePlus 12 camera combination is said to be 50MP+50MP+64MP, with the main rear camera having an IMX9 series sensor, all housed in a circular camera module. We assume it could be Sony’s 1-inch IMX989, which is present on the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Vivo X90 Pro+.

The ultra-wide camera will also be 50MP, while the telephoto lens will be upgraded from 32MP IMX709 to the 64MP OV64B by OmniVision.

Further, the tipster, through his Weibo post (via), has tipped a third-generation Snapdragon 8 series chipset for the phone.

Another notable detail is the higher charging speed, with a 50 percent increase in wattage as compared to the predecessor, OnePlus 11.
A wired charging speed of 150W has been tipped for the OnePlus 12.

OnePlus 12 Quick specifications (expected)

Here are the specs the phone is expected to come with based on the latest leak.

Display: 2K Resolution, Samsung panel with Ultra-narrow bezels and centre punch-hole. The display specs of the phone have also been tipped earlier, speaking about an OLED display with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset which is expected to come with a new Adreno 750 GPU, later this year.

Camera: 50MP IMX9-series Main camera sensor, along with a 50MP Wide-angle and 64MP Omnivision OV64B Periscope camera sensors, an upgrade over 50MP+48MP+32MP setup present in the OnePlus 11.

Charging Speed: 150W, an upgrade over OnePlus 11’s 100W fast charging. The brand earlier brought this feature to OnePlus 10R.

Battery: Similar to its predecessor, the OnePlus 11 will come with a 5,000 mAH battery.

Design: The upcoming phone is expected to feature a Circular Camera model at the centre of the back panel.

OnePlus 12 launch timeline

The brand is expected to launch the OnePlus 12 in its home country in December of this year, slightly earlier than the January release that OnePlus 11 received. Following the usual timeline, the phone should make its way to global markets early next year.

The OnePlus 12 is expected to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor. The improved camera performance is one of the most anticipated features.

With the addition of the periscope zoom camera, the OnePlus 12 will be capable of offering a better zoom function.

This is great news for OnePlus fans who are also mobile phone camera enthusiasts. OnePlus has always been known for its software optimization.
The company is expected to take the camera performance to the next level with the OnePlus 12.

Faqs on OnePlus 12

1) OnePlus 12 leak claims very fast charging is on the way . All Details?

Ans) The OnePlus 12 is the company’s next top-tier handset, which is already rumored to launch earlier than the predecessor models. While we recently saw rumors hinting at a new-gen display and better cameras, a new leak corroborates previously leaked specs and reveals top-tier charging speed.

The latest spec leak comes from a leaker on Weibo who put out the specifications of the alleged OnePlus 12 in a new post on the micro-blogging site.

According to the tipster, the OnePlus 12 will likely be powered by the next-gen Qualcomm processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is also expected to be unveiled early this year at the Snapdragon Summit in October.
That’s not too surprising, as it’s what previous leaks have stated.

The tipster also predicts the launch is likely to happen in December this year, a month sooner than the previous OnePlus flagship launch.

The launch timeline also corroborates the earlier leak and could be due to the Snapdragon launch, which has also been moved up from last year.

The tipster also states that the OnePlus 12 will feature a centered punch-hole camera housing, with a display made by Samsung featuring slightly curved edges and a 2K resolution.
It could be a part of a new-gen display alongside the symmetrical design, as mentioned in the earlier tip from last week.

The new display aesthetic would deviate from previous OnePlus premium phones like the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus 10 Pro, which always featured the selfie camera aligned to the top left corner.

As for optics, the OnePlus 12 could come with two 50MP cameras, of which the Sony IMX9 series one could act as the primary camera coupled with another 50MP wide-angle lens.
The tipster adds that another 64MP periscope lens would also be added to the camera island.
It is also expected to be aligned symmetrically around the center at the back of the device.

Lastly, the OnePlus 12 could see a 5000mAh battery capacity with a whopping 150W fast charging support, already glimpsed in some of the best Android phones, like the Realme GT Neo 3 and the OnePlus 10R.
Overall, OnePlus appears to be gearing up with a whole new design with the OnePlus 12 aided by impressive specs on paper and a better zoom camera (as hinted in the previous leak).

Aside from the flagship, we also anticipate the launch of the OnePlus Fold, which is rumored to be happening in the coming months to take on the leading foldable phones in the market.

2) What are OnePlus 12 specifications (Expected)?

Ans) Based on the latest leak, here’s a look at what the OnePlus 12 is expected to come with.
* Display: The OnePlus 12 is expected to feature a 6.7-inch QHD OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
* Processor: Under the hood of the phone could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor which will debut towards the end of this year. It will be Qualcomm’s flagship mobile chipset and offer a 35 percent improvement in energy efficiency.
* Battery, charging: The smartphone is said to pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging.
* Cameras: The OnePlus 12 is said to feature a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a 64MP periscope lens.
* Speaking of which, the periscope lens will be a major camera upgrade for the OnePlus 12 since it will be able to offer much better zoom capabilities. This is already present in most premium flagship smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Google Pixel 7 Pro that offer 10x optical zoom and 5x optical zoom, respectively.

3) OnePlus 12 key specifications leaked months before launch.Details?

Ans) * OnePlus 12 is expected to launch in China in December 2023
* A new leak has revealed the key specifications of the device
* It will come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and a periscope zoom camera
OnePlus 12 key specifications have been tipped. The leak, courtesy of tipster Yogesh Brar, has revealed information on the display, processor, rear cameras, battery, and charging capabilities of OnePlus’ next flagship phone.
The leak reveals that the OnePlus 12 could be the first smartphone from the brand to feature a periscope zoom camera. Qualcomm is expected to announce the next-generation chip in November this year. It is likely that the said chip will power the OP112.
According to the tipster, the OnePlus 12 will be equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED display that offers a Quad HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

It appears that it will continue to feature a punch-hole screen with curved edges and an in-display fingerprint scanner, like the OnePlus 11.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is likely to power the OnePlus 12.
While it is not mentioned in the leak, it appears that it could be equipped with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

The device is expected to run on Android 14 OS and OxygenOS 14.
There is no word on the front camera of the OnePlus 12.
However, the leak states that it will be equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel periscope zoom camera.
The OP12 will arrive with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 100W charging. It is unclear whether the device will lack support for wireless charging.
The OnePlus 11 debuted in December 2022 in China and was announced in February this year in India.
Hence, it is likely that the OnePlus 12 will arrive in the Indian market by the first quarter of 2024.

4) OnePlus 12 rumor suggests incoming periscope telephoto lens.Details?

Ans) OnePlus has been making huge progress with its phone cameras in recent years.
The OnePlus 11, in particular, is one of the best camera phones around.
The OnePlus 12 might be taking things a little further and adding a long-awaited piece of camera hardware: a periscope lens.
This rumor comes from a Weibo post (via PhoneArena (opens in new tab) ), claiming OnePlus is testing a new periscope lens to improve the optical zoom capabilities of the OnePlus 12.

Considering the OnePlus 11’s telephoto lens currently offers 2x optical zoom, that upgrade would be long overdue.
The leaker claims that Oneplus and RealMe “both have periscope arrangements.

They are currently testing on the SM8650 product line.” SM8650, as PhoneArena notes, is the expected codename for the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
That would line up with this being a OnePlus 12 feature, since the chip isn’t due until later this year and the OnePlus 12 won’t be arriving until early 2024.
Other phone companies are fast increasing their phones’ level of magnification, so this is a feature OnePlus can’t afford to ignore — not like it’s sort of done with wireless charging.

Even Apple, a company that also doesn’t rush to offer new hardware features is said to be adding a periscope lens to the iPhone 15 Pro Max — and potentially even the iPhone 16 Pro next year.
The thing about telephoto lenses and optical zoom is that they need space — and the higher the magnification the more space is required.

Keeping a traditional horizontal lens naturally limits how much magnification you can offer, because going too high inevitably increases the thickness of the phone. And if there’s anything modern smartphone companies hate, it’s unnecessarily thick phones.
The periscope lens helps solve that problem, by bending the light 90 degrees into a vertical telephoto lens setup. Just like the periscope of a submarine.
Storing the lens vertically means there’s a lot more available space to exploit, allowing phones to offer much higher levels of magnification without altering the exterior design too much.
We declared the OnePlus 11 as the best value flagship Android phone in our OnePlus11 review. The camera was particularly noteworthy, especially given OnePlus’s now-long-running partnership with Hasselblad.
It’s not enough to seriously compete with better camera phones, like the Pixel 7 Pro.
The 2x telephoto zoom was a particular let down, especially after the 3,3x optical zoom of the OnePlus 10 Pro.

Here’s hoping that this new periscope camera can fix that problem, and offer some serious magnification on the OnePlus 12. And hopefully for a similar kind of price to the OnePlus 11.

5) OnePlus 12 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and feature a big camera upgrade says tipster.Details?

Ans) A post made on the Chinese social media site Weibo by tipster Digital Chat Station (via AndroidAuthority) indicates that OnePlus is looking to upgrade its camera array for the next flagship release.

The tipster, who correctly leaked Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon naming plan before it was announced by the chip designer back in 2021, now says that OnePlus is testing a periscope camera on a product associated with a model number of “SM8650.”
The latter turns out to be the rumored identity code of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
So let’s add up the clues. The device in question will be powered by Qualcomm’s 2024 top-of-the-line application processor, it is expected to have a periscope camera, and it is being manufactured by OnePlus. It’s not too hard to figure out that Digital Chat Station is writing about the OnePlus 12. In his Weibo post, the tipster says that both OnePlus and Realme, both brands that are under the umbrella of Chinese manufacturer BBK Electronics, are testing the inclusion of a periscope camera on phones that will sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

The post also notes that not all of the phones will use the OmniVision 64B image sensor which has backed several telephoto lenses using a periscope camera.

A periscope camera offers greater optical zoom capabilities than you would normally be able to get from a device as small as a smartphone.
That’s because normally the focal length of the lens cannot exceed the thickness of the handset.
But with a periscope camera, the lens inside the device is folded up and mirrored prisms are used to help bend the light helping to take it from the lens to the image sensor.

For example, without a periscope camera, the OnePlus 11 delivers 2x optical zoom. The Pixel 7 Pro, which does have a periscope camera, can give users up to 5x optical zoom and the periscope camera on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra gives users up to 10x optical zoom.

6) OnePlus may finally adopt a periscope zoom camera.Details?

Ans) A big trend in smartphones over the past few years has been the “periscope” zoom camera, and it seems OnePlus will finally adopt the tech in an upcoming release.
Periscope lenses in smartphones allow for zoom that goes beyond 2-3x. Google uses the technique in Pixel phones to hit up to 5x optical zoom, while Samsung uses it for the 10x telephoto lens on its Ultra devices, and countless other brands have been jumping on board too. Even Apple is rumored to introduce a periscope lens on its next iPhone.
But OnePlus, surprisingly, has yet to use a periscope zoom lens in its smartphones. The OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 11 both maxed out with traditional zoom methods at 3.3x and 2x respectively.
It seems that may soon change, though. Digital Chat Station reports on Weibo that OnePlus has a “periscope arrangement” in the pipeline, with testing underway. It’s unclear what optical zoom level OnePlus is aiming for, but the simple fact the brand is finally jumping on board is great to see.
Presumably, this would make its debut in the OnePlus 12 sometime next year. OnePlus’ next smartphone is expected to be its first foldable, which would be a relatively odd place for the tech to debut. Periscope lenses are quite rare in foldables, with Google’s new Pixel Fold offering the tech, as well as Huawei’s Mate X3 and some others. But most stick with rather basic camera hardware for the sake of space.
