Xiaomi has announced “5G Plus” connectivity on all its smartphones after collaboration with Bharti airtel. Airtel 5G Sims do not need any update as they are already installed with the facility in eight cities namely- Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Siliguri, and Varanasi. JioBook, Reliance Jio’s foray into the budget laptop segment, is now available for purchase exclusively on Reliance Digital’s website. Following the grand success of the budget-friendly JioPhone, the company first announced the JioBook at the India Mobile Conference, held early this month in New Delhi, India. The JioBook was earlier made available for purchase to resellers on the Government e-marketplace for an entire time period.

The laptop has been developed by one of India’s leading corporate conglomerates, Reliance, in association with global technologies giants Qualcomm and Microsoft.

Interestingly, the JioBook will run on its own operating system, JioOS. The company developed and optimised its own operating system, especially for its first-ever budget laptops to hit the market. The laptop will also have pre-installed JioStore for users to download and use any application.

While the laptop was listed on the Government e-marketplace with a price tag of Rs 19,500, it is now available at considerably a much lower selling rate. Reliance Digital’s online website is now selling the laptop at Rs 15,799. Interesting customer planning to purchase from Reliance Digital’s online website can also avail of multiple offers including a 10 per cent instant discount with Axis, Kotak, ICICI, HDFC, AU, INDUSIND, DBS, Yes, and other major bank Credit cards.

JioBook Specifications

The Reliance JioBook is stylishly modelled with an 11.6-inch HD display, which supports 1366×768 pixels resolution. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC paired with Adreno 610 GPU, the budget laptop comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB eMMC storage. The storage is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. The laptop carries a 5,000 mAh battery, which the manufacturer claim can provide users with more than 8 hours of uninterrupted battery life on every single charge. To manage heat dissipation, JioBook also has a passive cooling mechanism.

As for the operating system, JioBook runs on Reliance-developed JioOS. The JioOS is similar to Microsoft Windows customised and tweaked to suit the requirements of Jio laptops.

As per the details mentioned on Reliance Digital’s website, the company will ship JioBook with an inbuilt 4G SIM card to all customers. For other connectivity options, the laptop carries Bluetooth 5.0 functionality, an HDMI mini port, and Wi-Fi. The laptop also includes dual 1.0W stereo speakers, a 2-megapixel web camera for video calling and a 3.5mm audio jack.

When listed on Government e-marketplace for resellers, the laptop was available in a single blue colour option. Now available on the Reliance Digital website, it is not yet clear how many colour options are currently available or if the company is planning on launching the laptop in any other colours.

For SIM activation, the users will have to visit the nearest Jio Store. The users will have to present the ICCID (SIM number) to complete their KYC formalities and choose their preferred data plans. The above process will activate the inbuilt SIM card for using the JioBook.

With the launch of their first budget laptop for end customers, Reliance can capture the interest of the otherwise untapped market segment of laptops. The company is eyeing a whole new demographic of interested buyers in rural areas or tier II or tier III cities.

Bollywood, after releasing a series of flop and underwhelming films, is going through a tough phase business wise. The film business has always displayed an enthusiastic upword trend during the festival season, which is why the industry is hopefully staring at this Diwali season. Two big films, Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu and Ajay Devgan’s Thank God, are slated for release and industry experts are hoping for both to end box-office’s lull phase. Country’s top multiplex owners, INOX and PVR, have already expressed their worry and reiterated how the last quarter has to perform well for the survival of many players in the industry.

Karan Taurani, renowned analyst from Elara Capital said, “Q3 is crucial (for the companies).”

Speaking to the media, top multiplex owners have time and again highlighted below average content from the industry to be the biggest reason for lackluster film business.

It is to be noted that a lot of the films recently releasing got delayed due to the pandemic and are basically pre-pandemic production. With audience viewing patterns shown drastic changes, the pre-pandemic content is now hardly being able to compel audience to flock to the theater.

The direct relation of audience flocking to the theater and industry witnessing upward trends in profits is widely known. Some of the year’s biggest movies schedule their release on these festivals, whether it is Diwali, EID or Christmas. However, looking at the reluctance that the audiences have shown in the past year, blame it on the pandemic or below average content, nothing can be speculated with surety about the film business anymore. It is thus that industry is looking hopeful for better business but still being careful.

Expressing industry concerns while speaking to the media, film producer and trade analyst Girish Johar said, “Even the Q3 releases, which happen to take place during the festive season, are somewhat muted and underwhelming in the response they are getting.”

Another reason that is often quotes for the lackluster theater performance of most films releasing post pandemic is the growing network of streaming service nationwide. Platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime have disrupted the content viewing patterns of the audience. For two years, people had to be locked inside their homes and these streaming platforms turned up as their saviour. Now, the trend shows only extra-ordinary content such as an RRR or a Brahmastra be able to compel audience to purchase theater tickets. Younger generation getting alienated from Indian cinema is also one of the reasons often cited for the lack of positive response at the theater ticket window. With film lovers getting easy access to International content, the appreciated for Indian films have somehow dimmed.

In any case, hope is high from both Ram Setu and Thank God. Both Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan, the leads of the films respectively, already had dull box office experience this year but still the stars are known for pulling major numbers. Moreover, leveraging on the religious angle in both Ram Setu and Thank God, many people naturally expect these films to do well after the tremendous success The Kashmir Files shown in the first quarter.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is celebrating 27 years of release as the all time blockbuster was released on 20th October 1995. Jr NTR Receives Special Gift During RRR Promotions from Japanese Fan

The grand success ride of RRR continues! The film cast and crew, including Jr NTR and Ram Charan, was recently in Japan for country wide promotions before its grand release. RRR was released in Japan on 21st October.

While the whole cast was busy in promotions, Jr NTR had an emotional moment with a fan in foreign land. A fan presented the actor with a special gift as she met him while she was working as staff in the hotel the crew stayed. The special gift made not just the actor but the entire Twitter quite emotional with many RRR fans sharing the video of their interaction on their handles quoting it as an emotional and iconic moment.

One fan on Twitter quotes the video saying, “I’m feeling double happiness as she’s from Nepal and she met him and he praised her as well.” Another quotes the same video with caption, “Only NTR fans can feel this high.”
