WhatsApp to extend the time limit to delete messages
WhatsApp is working to extend the time limit of deleting your messages to 60 hours. The updated limit is even more than the rival’s 48 hours limit. The update was first spotted in February when it was still in development mode. The limit was first decided to be 7 days, but that would’ve been an exaggeration. However, it appears to have chosen a somewhat lower limit that still offers users plenty of time to reconsider and remove submitted messages.
The 60-hour time restriction was initially designed when Meta (then known as Facebook) created the Delete For Everyone option for its wildly popular messaging service, the latest research claims. A limited number of beta customers are now starting to test the increased time restriction. A public deployment may come after a bigger beta rollout in the upcoming weeks. We’ll keep you informed. Similarly, WhatsApp is getting ready to enable group managers to remove messages submitted by any group member. Administrators would be able to delete a message from the chat for everyone if it violated the group’s rules or was improper. Members can view the message that was removed.
Apple users are in for a surprise because the company has now decided to add a new feature to the device which is the Lockdown Mode. This feature will be available for tablet and laptop as well.
This is because of the increasing risk to the data that is becoming more and more vulnerable to hackers with each passing day and they have a strong spyware that breaches through even tight security arrangements.
Although security measures have increased to a great level, a determined person can always devise new ways to break them which is why this new feature will act as a remedy to the problem.
The spyware used by these devious hackers is highly sophisticated in nature that sometimes sends your brain into knots but luckily Apple is one step ahead and has paid a $10 million grant to increase cyber security experts to research and develop a new mercenary spyware to counter the hackers.
Measures
Lockdown Mode, which mostly focuses on privacy features, is expected to come out within the fall is what the makers claim and it will be interesting to see how things will work out because it is estimated that protection enablement will make the devices less useful.
While some users are not happy that certain features in their iPhone will be not function as strongly as before due to lockdown mode, they can at least heave a sigh of relief that their device is less vulnerable to cyber-attacks.
Cyber-security personnel have always held a high opinion on Iphones, or any Apple device in particular, which is a big reason why it is also the favorite of high profile and influential people like politicians, businessmen, movie stars and social rights activists.
Pegasus, an Israeli tech firm that has strong spyware that hopes to breach the security measures of many electronic devices is going take Apple head because the latter has privacy tools of the lockdown mode.
There are many other state sponsored malware that this new feature will take on where Apple mentioned in a recent news report that the addition of Lockdown mode in phones, tablets and laptops will harden the defences in the device at the cost of a few other applications that suffer from limitations.
They include slow opening of certain apps, block to message access, web browsing and FaceTime calls and while some youngsters may not like it, they’ll understand that it was for their own good.
Test Version
This feature is going to be tested thoroughly before its launch to make sure that it will serve its purpose once it comes out where it will help identify bugs and other potential weaknesses.
Apple has even invited security research team to decode bypasses in the Lockdown Mode and reward them based on the success they achieve through the Apple Security Bounty Programme.
This isn’t the first time that a big tech giant has worked on enhancing data security of its users because Google tried it out a couple of years back through Advanced Protection in an effort to prevent fraudulent access to accounts, phishing and sharing of documents to third parties.
Microsoft isn’t far behind either because it has the Super Duper Secure Mode that is on similar lines for safeguarding data but what sets Apple apart from others is that Lockdown mode will be available to all users and all Apple devices.
Some important features have to be disabled so that the Lockdown mode works flawlessly although its exact functions have yet to be disclosed so users have to wait until further information on the matter by Apple.
Apple filed a lawsuit against NGO Group last year for trying to hack iPhones through Pegasus and while the case is subjudice, the final outcome would be interesting to learn about.

Inflation is a huge problem that has plagued India since independence. The bad news for youngsters with a fondness for electronic gadgets is that their favorite gadgets without which they cannot survive is slowly going beyond their budget.
The latest example being Xbox Series X, which is now Rs. 52,990 from Rs. 49,990. This is a 6% jump compared to its previous cost and many people are not liking it. Part of the reason is the falling of Indian Rupee compared to USD.
This time the plunge is nearly 6.5% since the Xbox Series was launched back in November 2020. This has made Microsoft give a statement citing ‘market conditions’ as the cause where it also furthered its reasoning to the regional marketplaces changing.
The change in marketplace happened in early June, which happened to coincide with the fall in Rupee against USD that has added insult to injury. Microsoft India has elaborated in the whole issue in detail.
Price Issue
Xbox has a number of online retailers but Prepaid Gamer Card is the only one of the lot that has provided an estimation on delivery and it gave the confirmation that Series X is now Rs 52,900.
Amazon and Flipkart, two of the most prominent ecommerce websites in India for online shopping, are offering Series S at a 10% discount of Rs 34,990, which was the original price of the model.
So those interested in buying old stock can definitely give it a try based on the offer although it hasn’t been made clear if the discount offer is due to online retailers or Redington, a distribution partner to Microsoft India.
Although it might seem like a consolation prize, the deal is quite good as Series S is the cheapest model of Xbox in the market as of now but in view of a probable price hike of Rs 36,990, the offer is worth considering.
To add further, Series S is the only new generation console that can be purchased easily in India apart from PlayStation 5 and Series S/X so before there is a rise in price, you can take the offer with both hands.
Amazon India has different pages for numerous electronic devices and their models but the one for Series X is blank, which implies that currently it isn’t in stock while the ones on Reliance Digital and Flipkart labels its cost at Rs 49,990.
Given the current situation, it is better to purchase one from the nearest game store in the vicinity because there are some that might not be able to afford it.
Xbox hardware isn’t much better off either with both the wireless controller and headset experiencing a price hike last month that they have reflected across many of their online retailers.
Prepaid Gamer Card has high hopes that the situation will improve in the coming months as they’re of the view that price fluctuations are normal in such cases and will become stagnant.
WWW is a term that we all our familiar with but very few know about its full form so for the unversed it is World Wide Web. Web 3.0, also known as Semantic Web, seems to be a new phenomenon in the horizon that many people are excited about.
Before getting into Web 3.0, let us refresh about Web 1.0 and 2.0 as there are many that have forgotten about it. Web 1.0 was the prevalent internet that began in the late 80s and lasted till 2000.
This website was limited to gathering limited amount of information on any topic with a few servers that we could interact with apart from a few search engines and ecommerce websites like Ebay and Amazon.
2.0 was an upgraded version of 1.0 with features that were more advanced than the latter and far more collaborative, capable and interactive that gave us smartphone and other electronic gadgets with technical finesse.
Definition
Now it is time for the 3rd generation, or rather 3.0, to come in as it will have the defining characteristics that far exceeds the technical advancements of 1.0 and 2.0 by a wide margin because it is considered the evolution of web tech.
The age of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is upon us and so is Web 3.0, also known as Semantic Web, is speculated to be defined by intelligence and expertise
that will have features of high level caliber.
While 1.0 and 2.0 had interactions limited to users and websites, 3.0 will be between software and hardware but the story is much more than what meets the eye as the difference between 3.0 and its predecessors is vast.
Web 3.0 is predicted to act as the defining future of internet that will work on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Etherium with the use of blockchain technology. Unlike the previous two, no single entity will be incharge of 3.0 but it will be a trustworthy venture.
Users are known to follow the consensus protocols and with 3.0 predicted to have intelligence to rival that of the human brain, the network that comes into being will be open and require no permission.
Just like any upgraded feature of a new operating system, Web 3.0 too will be upgraded and remove the inconveniences caused by the now obsolete versions of 2.0 and 1.0 where we’ll have the websites in ubiquitous form in any device be it smartphone, desktop, tablet, etc.
A user can now connect to web with any device from anywhere, which would imply that all your software devices with all the stored data is linked with the web and work in a synchronized manner.
Features
Some important features of Web 3.0 are as follows:
Semantic Web
As mentioned above, it is going to be an advanced and upgraded version of 2.0 where web technologies will be able to generate and share relevant content that just requires searching and analyzing said content where it won’t be limited to keywords but the entire summary based on how quick the web is in grasping it
Artificial Intelligence
It is difficult to fathom that electronic devices will have the capability to think and analyze on the level of human beings but tie acute combo of semantic expertise with language processor, you can achieve results at a quicker pace
Connectivity
Relevant data is stored because Web 3.0 has a stronger connection due to semantic metadata that will make it easy for users to access information on the topic due to the speed in connectivity
Ubiquity
Due to the sheer volume of electronic devices, anyone can access websites and other online content from any part of the world and isn’t just limited to your desktop PC
Edge Computing
With the new feature, saved data and applications can be processed on numerous electronic devices through network edge. This process is called Edge Computing
3D Graphics
All the websites and online services for Web 3.0 will be available in 3D Format like ecommerce portals, games, messaging, etc.
Blockchain
This technology will be a gamechanger for 3.0 as it will encrypt and protect all the data in the system without leaving it vulnerable to external interference
There are numerous assets and data available but this data network will allow users to have complete ownership over them that’ll make it easy for them to login without being tracked or identified
