iQOO Neo 7 Pro

Tipster Abhishek Yadav has claimed the alleged launch timeline of the Neo 7 Pro. The tipster also listed some of the phone’s key specifications, suggesting that the device will be a rebadged version of another Neo series phone from China.

It was previously speculated that the Neo 7 Pro in India would be a rebadged version of the Neo 7 Racing Edition.
Yadav’s claim contradicts these rumours and states that the Neo 7 Pro launching in India is actually the Neo 8 5G from China.

The Neo 7 Racing Edition has the same SoC as the Neo 8 5G. However, the Neo 8 5G has a smoother display with a higher resolution—both phones some similar batteries and fast-charging tech.

However, when it comes to the camera system, the Neo 7 Racing Edition looks better on paper with an additional 8MP ultra-wide sensor, which is missing in the Neo 8 5G.

The Neo 7 Pro is expected to be priced under Rs 40,000 in India and will take on the likes of the OnePlus 11R 5G, Samsung Galaxy A54 5G and the Vivo V27 Pro 5G in India.

However, if the leaked specs are true, the Neo 7 Pro might be positioned as a performance-focused device instead of an all-rounder premium smartphone with a versatile camera setup.

Apple Stores in India Record Monthly Sales of Over Rs 22-25 Crore Each

0

HIGHLIGHTS

1. Apple Stores in India are generating record billings for the company.
2. The Apple BKC store saw opening-day billings of over Rs 10 crore.
3. Despite half the size, Apple Saket in New Delhi has generated similar revenue since its opening.

Apple opened its first official store in April in India. The first Apple Store in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) opened its doors to customers on April 18. Another Apple Store followed it in New Delhi’s Saket, which was opened on April 20.

The new Apple Stores offer a unique customer experience, such as Today at Apple, access to Genius Bar and experiencing all Apple products available for sale in India.

Customers are getting attracted to the physical Apple Stores in India if the first month’s sales report is to be believed. A new report claims that Apple stores in India generate record revenue for an electronics store.

Apple’s first two official stores in India have combined grossed monthly sales ranging between Rs 44-50 crores. The report, citing two industry executives aware of the details, claimed that the recorded gross revenues are over two times what could be the highest revenue for an electronics store in the country during the non-Diwali period.

Apple Stores in India

Apple Stores in India were inaugurated by CEO Tim Cook in April. The Apple BKC store saw a billing of over Rs 10 crore on the first day, according to the report. This is reportedly Rs 2-3 crore more than some major local electronic stores post in a month.

While Apple BKC did generate record billings and sales for Apple in India, the smaller Apple Saket store fared better when it came to per-square-foot revenue. Apple BKC is about 22,000 squar Apple BKC feet, whereas the Saket store is over 10,000 square feet.

The report stated that despite being more than half the size smaller than the BKC store, the Saket store recorded similar revenues for Apple. Both stores also had a footfall of over 6,000 people each on the opening day, according to a recent report.

Apple BKC is already among the top 10 Apple-owned stores by sales globally. That being said, it would be interesting to see if the company can see similar billings as the hype dwindles over the coming months.

Apple Stores in India

The India Apple Stores have reportedly exceeded the company’s internal expectations. “The two company-owned Apple Stores in India are setting new benchmarks in terms of absolute and per-square feet revenue,” said one of the executives cited above.

“This is due to the fact that the average selling price (ASP) of Apple products is much higher, which leads to higher revenue, and (since) footfall is still high, with both stores remaining crowded on any given day,” the report, citing one of the two industry executives, added.

The presence of official stores in India will also likely push the iPhone’s ASP to over $1,000 (roughly Rs 82,500) from the current ASP ranging between $935-990 (roughly Rs 77,100 – Rs 81,700) for the offline market.

When it comes to e-commerce, the ASP is said to cross $950 (roughly Rs 78,400), a $100 rise compared to last year, according to IDC India associate vice-president Navkendar Singh.
According to Singh, the rise in ASP is expected to be due to Apple Stores not giving too many discounts and offers.

Monthly sales of Rs 25 cr each! Apple’s India stores hit it out of the park

Apple Stores in India

Apple’s new stores in Delhi and Mumbai have grossed monthly sales of more than Rs 22-25 crore each, The Economic Times (ET) reports. Industry experts have said that the figure is around twice the sales of an electronics store in the country during the non-Diwali period.

This makes Apple Store the largest electronics retailer in the country in terms of revenue. The Apple Store in Mumbai was opened on April 18, and in New Delhi two days after that. CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, was present at the inauguration of both stores.

The Mumbai store is in Jio World Drive, located at Bandra Kurla Complex. Apple BKC reported a first-day billing of more than Rs 10 crore, around Rs 2-3 crore more than some of the largest local electronics stores can do in a month, the ET report said.

Apple's first physical store in India is finally ready and this is what it looks like

Even during the festive season’s prime, large electronic stores in India can do Rs 3-5 crore in sales at their best. This signifies the popularity and demand for Apple devices despite their higher prices.

However, looking at revenue generation per square foot, the store in Saket, New Delhi, takes the cake. Apple Saket is over 10,000 square feet, large as it is, but it is less than half compared to the store in BKC, Mumbai, which measures 22,000 square feet.

The Mumbai store is double the store in Delhi, but the two stores generated similar revenues, ET reported. According to reports, the monthly rent for the store in BKC, Mumbai, is Rs 42 lakh, while the rent for the store in Saket, Delhi, is Rs 40 lakh.

How is Apple doing it?

Apple Stores in India

People aware of the industry trends were quoted in the report, which said that the two Apple stores could set new sales records because the average selling price (ASP) of Apple products is much higher.

This leads to higher revenue, and given the following of the Apple brand, both stores remain crowded almost every day. The experts added that the sales from Apple Stores exceeded the company’s estimates.

Associate vice-president of market research firm IDC India, Navkendar Singh, says that the iPhone’s ASP in India in the calendar year 2022 was $935-990 through offline channels; the figure stood at $890 for online sales.

With the two Apple Stores in the picture, iPhone’s overall ASP will likely cross $950. This figure is separate from the 18 per cent GST applicable on smartphones.

Indian market and Apple

The Indian smartphone market is identified as price-sensitive, looking for the biggest bang for its buck. Given this background, it will be interesting to see if the two stores can sustain their sales numbers.

A market expert said sales would obviously go up during an iPhone launch, and if Apple decides to allocate higher inventory to its stores, the sales at stores will only go up.
This is significant since there was a higher demand and relatively low supply of iPhones at the time of launch.

Google Pixel 8 Listed by Wireless Power Consortium Certification Website; supported by 12W Wireless Charging Support

Google Pixel 8

HIGHLIGHTS

1. Google Pixel 8 is likely to launch in October 2023.
2. Ahead of the launch, the Google flagship has visited the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) certification website.
3. The listing reveals the wireless charging details of the upcoming Pixel smartphone.

Google Pixel 8 series is expected to launch later this year.
The company is likely to launch two premium smartphones under its flagship series in October.

Unlike last year, Google did not preview the Pixel 8 series at I/O 2023.

However, there have been a lot of leaks in the past, which have revealed some key details about the Pixel 8 series. Adding to the development is a new listing on the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) certification website.

The upcoming Google flagship has passed the regulatory website ahead of its official release.
The listing reveals that the Pixel 8 will offer support for wireless charging.

Google Pixel 8

While the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro aren’t expected to be introduced until October, the Pixel 8 visited the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and ended up on its certification website.
The certification reveals (unsurprisingly) that the Pixel 8 will support wireless charging.

The listing reveals that the smaller and less expensive of the two flagship models will come with a model number of GKWS6.

Some Pixel fans will not be too pleased to note that the listing shows that the Pixel 8 will feature 12W wireless charging which is the same as found on the Pixel 7.

No improvements will be seen in that area. And with support for Qi standard 1.2.4, the Pixel 8 will not have the Qi2 charging standard which would allow the Pixel 8 to charge wirelessly using magnets like Apple’s MagSafe feature allows.

Google Pixel 8

Don’t panic at the image of the “Pixel 8” used on the WPC’s listing of the phone. That is merely a placeholder and renders already seen for the Pixel 8 reveal thinner bezels than what you are looking at when viewing the WPC listing.

The latest rumored specs for the Pixel 8 call for a 6.2-inch OLED display which is a tenth of an inch smaller than the 6.3-inch display utilized by the Pixel 7. The screen will refresh at 120Hz.
The phone will be a little more rounded on the corners and the rear camera bar will make another appearance with a 64MP main camera, a 48MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.

A previous leak of a Pixel 8 case reveals that the phone will have three cameras on the back this year instead of the two seen on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7.

Google Pixel 8

A 16MP front-facing camera is expected. The Google Tensor 3 should be under the hood and the basic configuration will come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A 5000mAh battery will keep the lights on.

The latest rumored specs for the Pixel 8 Pro call for a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 1440 x 3120 (QHD+) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Tensor 3 will drive the device with the basic configuration weighing in at 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The rear camera bar will feature a 64MP main camera, a 48MP periscope lens telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. A front-facing 16MP camera will handle selfies and video chats.

Google Pixel 8

A 5100mAh battery keeps the lights on and the phone will have a sensor that takes the user’s temperature.

Let’s take a look at the Google Pixel 8 specifications, features and other details known so far.

Google Pixel 8: Won’t Get Qi2 Wireless Charging Support

Google Pixel 8

The Google Pixel 8 will be one of the two flagship smartphones from the company launching later this year. It has the model number GKWS6.
According to the listing, which explicitly confirms the moniker of the phone, the Pixel 8 will support 12W wireless charging.

In case you are wondering, yes, the wireless charging support is the same as the Pixel 7. Moreover, the listed Qi standard, which is 1.2.4, further reveals that the Pixel 8 will not support Qi2 wireless charging standard, which was announced recently to provide support for wireless charging using magnets like Apple’s MagSafe.

There is a placeholder image, which shows the Pixel phone with thick bezels around the display and a hole-punch cutout at the top centre. We revealed the exclusive Pixel 8 design renders, which show thinner bezels than the one used in the image for the WPC listing.

Google Pixel 8

The screen of the Pixel 8 will continue to remain flat and sport a hole-punch cutout at the top centre. We also revealed that the phone has a 6.2-inch OLED display, which will be marginally smaller than the current Pixel 7’s 6.3-inch panel.

The Pixel 8 is more rounded around the corners, which helps it differentiate from the Pixel 7’s sort of boxy design. The rear camera will continue to sit on top of a horizontal visor-like module.

There will be a pill-shaped cutout to house a dual-camera setup. The phone also has an LED flash module and a tiny microphone cutout next to the camera sensors.

Google Pixel 8

Our leaks suggest that the Pixel 8 will measure roughly about 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm. The device is also likely to feature the upcoming Tensor G3 SoC under the hood, which will likely have improved power efficiency over the predecessor SoC.

We can also expect the phone to launch with the latest Android 14 update out of the box. Other details about the phone are under wraps.

Like the Pixel 7 series, the upcoming Pixel 8 series is likely to launch in India as well. We will share more details about the same as and when available.

Faqs on Google Pixel 8 & Google Pixel 8 Pro

1) What are the specifications of Google pixel 8 ?

Ans) The report also goes on to reveal certain key specifications of the Google Pixel 8 Pro. It is expected to sport a 6.52-inch display panel with a punch-hole style cutout for selfie camera. The dimensions are revealed to be 162.6×76.5×8.7mm, with a thickness of 12mm around the camera bump.

Notably, we saw the first-ever Pixel 8 series leak in November 2022. It revealed that the codenames for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are “Shiba” and “Husky” respectively. The report also suggested that the Pixel 8 series could see a new processor, most likely the Tensor G3, which had been codenamed “Zuma”.

2) What are the specifications of Google Pixel 8 Pro?

Ans) The report suggests the smartphone will sport a 5.8-inch display with the same punch-hole camera design up top. Other than that, features around the smartphone remain largely same as those seen on the Pixel 8 Pro renders.

Furthermore, the dimensions are expected to be 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm, with a maximum thickness of 12mm around the camera module. This makes it smaller than the Pixel 7.
Apart from the dimensions and screen size, the Pixel 8 will likely be powered by the yet-to-be announced Tensor G3 processor from Google. The full-HD+ screen could come with a resolution of 2268 x 1080 pixels. Other specifications could be leaked closer to the expected Google I/O 2023 launch.

3) Pixel 8 Design Renders: What You Need to Know?

Ans) The Google Pixel 8 will be the entry-level flagship in the company’s premium smartphone lineup for 2023 and is expected to be unveiled in May 2023.
Ahead of the launch, tipster OnLeaks has shared the design renders of the upcoming Pixel flagship smartphone, which reveal that it will continue to feature a dual-camera setup.
The phone is likely to miss out on a telephoto camera sensor, which might remain exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro.

There is an LED flash outside the oval-shaped camera module on the protruding visor. The phone is a lot more rounded around the corners.

This itself gives the Pixel 8 a different look compared to the boxy design of the Pixel 7. The change in design also has resulted in the Pixel 8 sporting a smaller display.

OnLeaks tells us that the Pixel 8 will have a circa 5.8-inch display. The screen will remain flat and sport a hole-punch cutout at the top centre.

The Pixel 8 is also smaller than its predecessor, according to OnLeaks.
The phone will measure roughly about 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm. If you include the thick camera visor, the Pixel 8 will measure 12mm.

The frame is curved and houses the power and volume buttons on the right edge.
We can also see some antenna lines on the frame, suggesting that the phone will come with a metal chassis.

At the bottom edge, there is the USB Type-C port with cutouts for the primary speaker and the microphone.

4) Google Pixel 8 series: what we know so far?

Ans) There isn’t much known about the Pixel 8 yet but based on leaks so far here’s what we know:

Pixel 8 is expected to feature a FHD+ display with 2268 x 1080 resolution.
The smartphone along with the Pixel 8 Pro will be powered by a new chipset called ‘Zuma’ which will most likely be the Tensor G3 chipset.

Speaking about the Pixel 8 Pro, it will come with this new built-in thermometer that can be used to measure your body’s temperature. It has an infrared sensor that is placed at the back next to the cameras. This feature is however, said to be restricted to the Pro variant and not the Pixel 8.

The Pixel 8 Pro is also said to sport Samsung’s 50MP ISOCELL GN2 camera sensor that is 1/1.12-inch in size making it Samsung’s biggest camera sensor yet. A bigger camera sensor will result in photos having better images and higher resolution as well.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro is also expected to feature a 6.52-inch display.

5) Google Pixel 8 certification confirms no upgrade in wireless charging speed.Details?

Ans) No Qi2 wireless charging for the Google Pixel 8
The Google Pixel 8 with the model number GKWS6 has been certified by the Wireless Power Consortium to come with Qi wireless charging support. The certification also confirms that the Pixel 8 will offer a maximum of 12W wireless charging speed. This also means that we won’t see the new Qi2 wireless charging technology on the Pixel 8.

Announced earlier this year, Qi2 is an upgrade over Qi as it’s built on Apple’s MagSafe technology using magnets that ensures effective wireless charging. The iPhone 15 series is also reportedly getting compatibility for Qi2 wireless charging other than MagSafe charging, which means access to cheaper third-party magnetic wireless chargers.

There’s no confirmation on whether the Pixel 8 Pro will be compatible with Qi2 but considering how the Pixel 8 will not it seems unlikely for the ‘Pro’ variant too.

Razorpay Turbo UPI lets you make payments in just one step, 5 times faster than regular UPI; Partners with Axis Bank, NPCI

Razorpay Turbo UPI

HIGHLIGHTS

* Razorpay will now let users make UPI payments with just one step.
* This new feature is called Turbo UPI and it will soon be available with select brands.
* It essentially cuts the process from five steps to just one step.
* Turbo UPI allows direct UPI payments without getting redirected to a third-party UPI app during checkout.
* It is a 1-step payment experience for online customers as compared to a 5-step process on regular UPI.
* Razorpay collaborated with NPCI and Axis Bank for Turbo UPI.

Razorpay has launched a new and faster UPI system called ‘Turbo UPI’ which is said to offer a 1-step payment experience, five times faster than normal UPI, as claimed by the company.

The finance platform partnered with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Axis Bank for the launch of Turbo UPI. This new payment system will essentially make it easier and faster for consumers to make UPI payments to online merchants.

Razorpay has launched Turbo UPI as its one-step solution for a faster and more streamlined UPI payments experience. It teamed up with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Axis Bank.

Razorpay Turbo UPI

It is being touted as India’s fastest payment solution with a 5X faster payment experience than regular UPI. It is primarily aimed at online businesses but will also benefit customers making payments.

Commenting on the launch, Shashank Kumar, Co-founder & MD at Razorpay, said:
With India’s consumers swiftly adopting UPI as a digital mode for its transaction needs, it is crucial for businesses to have access to a hassle-free, seamless payment experience like never before.

Therefore, we wanted to build a solution that not only made the end-users’ UPI payment experience fast & frictionless but will also help businesses with a significant increase in success rate by 10% for UPI transactions, empowering businesses with higher revenue potential in the evolving digital landscape. So, as opposed to the 5-step process of UPI flow, our one-step solution reduces the scope of non-technical errors that can lead to drop-offs and provide a major boost to UPI transactions.

This new offering is in tandem with Razorpay’s commitment to taking on the challenges of payments head-on that businesses face in their day-to-day operations. By providing a simplified and seamless payments experience, we believe we are enabling businesses to grow and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

This continuous innovation in the digital payments industry is a testament to the fact that the industry is headed towards a glorious future, especially with India’s UPI success story becoming a global benchmark today.

What is Turbo UPI?

Razorpay Turbo UPI

In the official announcement, Razorpay has described Turbo UPI as a 1-step payment experience. This is because it eliminates the need for redirection to a third-party UPI app during the checkout process. It allows customers to make UPI payments directly by entering their UPI PIN.

Turbo UPI is primarily meant for merchants who will need to integrate the service into the payment gateway.
It is said to boost the payment success rate by 10%. Merchants will get access to granular insights into the end-users drop-off pattern and full control over the customer’s payment experience.

Some of its early adopters are Tata Starquik, Ixigo, FNP (Ferns N Petals), Trainman, and Dhan among others. A specific timeline has not been shared but customers of these businesses will be able to use the service “soon”.

Turbo UPI vs Regular UPI: What is the difference?

Razorpay Turbo UPI

It is a relatively lengthy process when it comes to making payments via regular UPI on websites. The first step is to either choose the preferred third-party UPI app or enter your UPI address.

The payment gateway then redirects you to the selected app where you have to use your face/fingerprint lock to access the app. The next step is to cross-check the business name and requested payment and then you enter your UPI PIN to complete the payment.

Afterwards, you are redirected to the merchant’s payment gateway to show the final payment status.

Razorpay Turbo UPI

In comparison, Razorpay says Turbo UPI will fasten the whole payment experience by eliminating app redirection steps. All you need to do is to select Turbo UPI on the gateway, enter your UPI PIN, and voila, payment would be done.

It should be noted that Razorpay is not the only one with a 1-step payment experience. Last week, Paytm launched UPI SDK with the same purpose where customers can make direct UPI payments without any third-party UPI app redirects.

It is powered by the same technology stack as Paytm Payments Bank. This SDK will also get support for UPI Lite and UPI on RuPay Credit Card in the future.

Razorpay Turbo UPI

Razorpay Turbo UPI

Razorpay Turbo UPI will let users make payments to online merchants directly and remove the process of redirecting to a third-party UPI app. This quick process is said to help increase the success rate of UPI payments by 10 percent.

In addition to this, Turbo UPI gives merchants control over the payment experience by showing them insights of the end-users drop-off pattern.

Razorpay has collaborated with popular brands to enable Turbo UPI on their platforms. Some of the first merchants for Turbo UPI include Tata Starquik, Ixigo, FNP (Ferns N Petals), Trainman, and Dhan.

So merchants will have to enable Turbo UPI to get the quick payment system.

How Razorpay Turbo UPI works

Razorpay Turbo UPI

* At present, UPI payments have a long process where you have to first choose the payment method, then enter your UPI ID.

* You will then be redirected to your UPI payment app or website and enter your UPI PIN to complete the payment.

* With Turbo UPI, the whole five-step process will be shortened to just one.

* All you’ll have to do is select the Turbo UPI payment option from the list of payment modes, enter your UPI PIN and the payment will be completed.

* The initial process will require you to link your bank account to your UPI account so you can easily complete the payment when you use the feature.

Razorpay Turbo UPI is similar to Paytm UPI SDK that launched just last week. This feature too lets users make UPI payments directly without getting redirected to another page during checkout.

Similar to Razorpay Turbo UPI, Paytm UPI SDK also lets you complete the payment by simply entering the UPI PIN from the merchant’s app itself.

Faqs on Razorpay Turbo UPI

1) Razorpay launches ‘Turbo UPI’ payment service.Details?

Ans) Razorpay has announced the launch of ‘Turbo UPI’ that allows customers of online merchants to make UPI payments directly without getting redirected to a third-party UPI app during checkout. According to the company, the new feature streamlines the payment process and helps businesses in successful completion of UPI payments.

Turbo UPI also offers insights into the end-users’ drop-off pattern and enables merchants to control the entire payment experience of their customers, end-to-end. For end-users, this means a 1-step UPI payment experience, as opposed to 5 steps.

About the launch of Turbo UPI, Shashank Kumar, Co-founder and Managing Director of Razorpay, said, “With India’s consumers swiftly adopting UPI as a digital mode for its transaction needs, it is crucial for businesses to have access to a hassle-free, seamless payment experience like never before. Therefore, we wanted to build a solution that not only made the end-users’ UPI payment experience fast and frictionless but will also help businesses with a significant increase in success rate by 10 per cent for UPI transactions.”

“This new offering is in tandem with Razorpay’s commitment to take on the challenges of payments head-on that businesses face in their day-to-day operations. By providing a simplified and seamless payments experience, we believe we are enabling businesses to grow and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape,” he added.

2) Razorpay unveils India’s fastest one-step payments solution Turbo UPI. Details?

Ans) Razorpay has launched ‘Turbo UPI’ which the fintech unicorn says is India’s fastest one-step UPI (unified payments interface) payment solution. This new product allows customers of online merchants to make UPI payments directly without getting redirected to a third-party UPI app during checkout.
Razorpay Turbo UPI aims to deliver a 5X faster payment experience. It streamlines the payment process and eliminates any redirection to external apps. This helps businesses achieve a significant increase in the success rate of UPI payments by 10 per cent.

This solution was developed in partnership with NPCI and Axis Bank.
“With India’s consumers swiftly adopting UPI as a digital mode for its transaction needs, it is crucial for businesses to have access to a hassle-free, seamless payment experience like never before,” said Shashank Kumar, co-founder and managing director at Razorpay. “So, as opposed to the 5-step process of UPI flow, our one-step solution reduces the scope of non-technical errors that can lead to drop-offs and provide a major boost to UPI transactions.”

Turbo UPI also offers granular insights into the end-users drop-off pattern and enables merchants to control the entire payment experience of their customers, end-to-end. For end-users, this means a simple 1-step UPI payment experience instead of 5 steps. Customers of popular apps including Tata Starquik, Ixigo, FNP (Ferns N Petals), Trainman, and Dhan among others will soon be able to get the benefits of this innovation.

Providing a frictionless customer experience has been a top priority for us. As a business, it is of utmost importance to provide customers best and most seamless payment experience, and ‘Turbo UPI’ has taken that up a notch,” said K. Radhakrishnan, Co-founder, Tata Starquik. “We are confident that this streamlined, frictionless, and time-saving payment solution will not only enhance our customers’ experience but also minimize drop-offs during the UPI payment journey.”

UPI has become the common and preferred mode of payment for end users. It is projected to reach 1 billion transactions per day and capture a 90 per cent share of retail digital payments by 2026-27, according to a recent industry report. However, businesses are actively seeking solutions to address issues such as reliance on third-party UPI apps, and a lack of visibility into their customer drop-offs during the payment process. Razorpay said Turbo UPI will help solve these challenges.
Razorpay has been powering innovations on UPI since 2017. These range from launching payment acceptance for UPI in 2017 to introducing the UPI Autopay feature to enabling CC on UPI.

3) Razorpay Joins Paytm, Launches ‘Turbo UPI’ For One-Step Payment To Online Merchants.Details?

Ans) Days after the launch of UPI SDK by Paytm, fintech unicorn Razorpay on Tuesday (May 30) announced the launch of ‘Turbo UPI’, a one-step payment solution for the UPI network.

Razorpay said the service would allow users to make payments without being redirected to a third-party app during checkout. The fintech startup launched the service in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Axis Bank.

It must be noted that last week, Paytm launched its UPI SDK (Software Development Kit) to allow customers to make UPI payments from within the app of online merchants without redirecting them to the Paytm app

In a statement, Razorpay claimed that Turbo UPI would deliver a faster payment experience by eliminating redirection to other payment apps. The fintech unicorn further claimed that businesses could see up to a 10% increase in the success rate of UPI payments on their platforms.

“Turbo UPI also offers granular insights into the end-users drop-off pattern and enables merchants to control the entire payment experience of their customers, end-to-end,” the statement said.

Explaining the rationale behind the new service, Razorpay said that while UPI is set to dominate as the preferred digital payment method, businesses are looking to reduce reliance on third-party apps and address the lack of visibility into their customer drop-offs during the payment process.

Turbo UPI has been integrated with apps and platforms like grocery delivery platform Tata StarQuik, online travel aggregators ixigo and Trainman, gifts and flowers platform Ferns N Petals, and stock trading platform Dhan, among others.

Commenting on the launch, Shashank Kumar, cofounder and MD at Razorpay, said, “We wanted to build a solution that not only made the end-users’ UPI payment experience fast & frictionless but will also help businesses with a significant increase in success rate by 10% for UPI transactions, empowering businesses with higher revenue potential in the evolving digital landscape,”

Kumar added that a one-step solution reduces the scope of non-technical errors that can lead to drop-offs and boost UPI transactions.

4) Razorpay Turbo UPI: How It Works?

Ans) It was stated that customers of online merchants would be able to use this to make UPI payments directly without being forwarded to another UPI application at the time of the transaction, helping businesses increase the success rate of payments by over 10 percent. For the end users, the newly introduced Razorpay Turbo UPI gets a 1-step UPI solution which is 5X faster than the regular 5-step process.

5) How Is RazorPay Turbo UPI Faster?

Ans) The process is simplified for the users by only requiring them to complete one step; otherwise, they would be unable to switch from the merchant’s application to another UPI application, slowing down the process. The user only needs to enter the UPI Pin to authorise the transaction without exiting the application as the pre-selected UPI account will be used.

6) Which Companies Will Use This Feature?

Ans) As per Razorpay’s statement, the companies like Tata Starquik, Ixigo, FNP (Ferns N Petals), Trainman, and Dhan will be using the Turbo UPI as per the company.

7) Razorpay launches ‘Turbo UPI’: How is it different from regular UPI.Details?

Ans) Indian fintech startup, Razorpay has launched a new product called Turbo UPI. For this product, Razorpay has partnered with Axis Bank and the National Payments Council of India (NPCI). Turbo UPI claims to make UPI payments faster and reduce potential payment failures. The company will also allow merchants to integrate Turbo UPI at the payment gateway. This will eliminate the need for customers to go to third-party UPI payment apps and they can pay directly from their UPI-linked bank accounts within the merchant app. Razorpay also claims that this product will also help businesses to achieve nearly a 10% increase in the success rate of UPI payments. Turbo UPI also promises a 2-step UPI payment experience for end-users. This also claims to make the payment experience 5X faster.

Early adopters of Turbo UPI

Turbo UPI is still in the pilot stage. However, some popular apps including Tata StarQuik, Ixigo, FNP (Ferns N Petals), Trainman and Dhan are among the multiple companies that are soon going to enable this product on their platforms.

Importance of platform-specific UPI payment solutions

Using third-party apps like Google Pay or PhonePe can make the payment process inconvenient due to the additional steps involved. At times, customers can also miss payments if messages or notifications for the payment prompt get delayed.
This is why major digital merchants prefer to build their own UPI payment solutions. For example, Amazon has Amazon Pay UPI, while Zomato recently launched Zomato UPI. Reports suggest that Walmart-owned Flipkart is also planning to start its own UPI payments solution.

8) Razorpay partners with Axis Bank, NPCI to launch Turbo UPI. Details?

Ans) Fintech unicorn Razorpay on May 30 launched Turbo UPI in partnership with Axis Bank and the National Payments Council of India (NPCI). Turbo UPI aims to make UPI payments faster and reduce potential payment failures.

Merchants can integrate Turbo UPI at the payment gateway, which eliminates the need for customers to go to third-party UPI payment apps. This will allow customers to pay directly from their UPI-linked bank accounts within the merchant app. The additional step of switching apps is estimated to cause almost 5-10 percent of payment failures.

Last week, Paytm, which also has a payment gateway solution, launched a similar product called “UPI SDK”. Paytm’s product supports UPI payments through UPI Lite, as well as Rupay Credit Cards linked to the UPI account. SDK stands for software development kit, or a software plug-in that a merchant can integrate with their payment gateway.

“This is a one-click process and the payment is completed much faster. Here no PSPs (payment service providers) are required, the merchant app will itself become a UPI App. The merchant will install a Razorpay Plug-in and the customer can directly link their bank accounts to the merchant app,” said Shashank Kumar, cofounder and Managing Director of Razorpay.

The additional steps involved in using a third-party app like Google Pay or PhonePe can make the payment process cumbersome. Sometimes, messages or notifications for the payment prompt may be delayed, which could result in customers missing the payments. This is one of the reasons why some large digital merchants prefer to build their own UPI payment solutions. For example, Amazon has Amazon Pay UPI, while Zomato recently launched Zomato UPI. Flipkart also has plans to start its own UPI payments solution.

The Vivo Y27 5G features 6GB of RAM and Android 13 OS, which is likely to be overlaid with the latest version of FunTouch OS 13. One of the live shots of the Y27 5G available through NCC certification reveals that it will pack a 5,000mAh battery.
The image of the charger confirms that the device will be accompanied by a 44W fast charger.

In the live shots, the Vivo Y27 5G can be seen sporting a waterdrop notch screen. It is equipped with a side-facing fingerprint scanner.  The back panel of the device has a dual-camera setup with an LED flash.

Its top edge has a microphone and a SIM slot, whereas its opposite side has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille.
The left side of the device appears to be barren, whereas its right edge has volume buttons and a power key, which is integrated with a fingerprint scanner.

The Vivo Y27 5G’s design and its key specifications that have surfaced so far suggest that it could be a rebadged or tweaked edition of the Vivo Y36 5G.

Faqs on Vivo Y27

1) Vivo Y27 arriving soon as it appears on Google Play with Key specs.Details?

Ans) May has been very busy for Vivo as it launched a bunch of new smartphones in both China and global market. These include the Vivo Y36, Vivo Y35m, and the Vivo Y78. In addition, the company is ready to unveil the premium S17 series in its home country tomorrow, which should also arrive in the international market but as Vivo V29. Before that happens, a new Vivo Y series model, dubbed Vivo Y27 has been spotted on Google Play console with its key specifications. Here’s what we know so far.

Vivo Y27 could be a rebranded Vivo Y36

The Vivo Y27 5G has been spotted on the Google Play Console website with model number V2248. This is the same model number as the recently launched Vivo Y36 5G, hinting Y27 might just be a rebranded version of this phone.

The listing reveals the MediaTek MT6833 SoC under the hood of the smartphone. Although this processor used to be called Dimensity 700 SoC, MediaTek’s new naming convention might dub it as the Dimensity 6020 SoC. The chip has two cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. Graphics are covered by the Mali G57 GPU.

According to the listing, the Vivo Y27 will get 6GB of RAM and run Android 13 out of the box. Other details of the smartphone are not known. But if it’s indeed a Vivo Y36 5G rebrand, we can expect it to get a 6.44-inch LCD panel with an FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The device may get a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth lens paired with an LED flash on the rear. For selfies, it could feature a 16MP shooter on the front.

Nothing Phone (2) Key Specifications Confirmed; to Feature a Bigger Battery Than Phone (1)

HIGHLIGHTS

* Nothing has revealed new details about the upcoming Phone (2).
* The device has been confirmed to launch in July 2023.
* Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.
* Nothing Phone 2 is expected to run Android 13 with Nothing OS 1.5 on top
* The smartphone will pack a 4,700mAh battery
* It also claims to use plastic-free packaging

Nothing has been teasing its upcoming Nothing Phone (2) since MWC 2023. The company first said the next-gen smartphone would launch in late 2023. However, in a recent interview with Forbes, Carl Pei confirmed that the launch is scheduled for July 2023.

The device was listed in BIS, indicating that the device will be launched in India. In addition, the micro-site listing has confirmed the Flipkart availability of the device. But that isn’t surprising considering Flipkart has been Nothing’s online partner since Ear (1) launch in India.

Nothing Phone (2)

Previously, we exclusively revealed the model number, which was later confirmed by the GeekBench listing of the device. A new tweet from Nothing reveals the display size, information about Android updates, and more about the forthcoming Phone (2).

Nothing Phone 2 is confirmed to launch globally in July. It will launch as the successor to the Nothing Phone 1 that was released in July 2022. Nothing CEO and former OnePlus Co-Founder Car Pei had previously confirmed a few key specifications of the handset.

The upcoming smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and will be backed by a 4,700mAh battery. The design of the Phone 2 is speculated to be similar to that of the first one.

Now, the company has also revealed the display size of the phone, and a few other details.

In a Twitter thread, Nothing shared that the display of the Nothing Phone 2 will be 0.15-inch bigger than that of Nothing Phone 1. The first generation smartphone from the company sports a 6.55-inch full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) display. Therefore, the Phone 2 will feature a 6.7-inch screen.

Nothing Phone (2)

Previously, alongside confirming the phone’s July launch, Pei said that the Nothing Phone 2 will come with a 4,700mAh battery, which is 200mAh bigger than that of the 4,500mAh battery of the Phone 1.
Today, the company said that these changes will “boost overall performance” of the upcoming handset, all while maintaining a carbon footprint of 53.45 kilograms, over 5 kilograms lower than the Phone 1.

Earlier this month Pei confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, a considerable upgrade from Phone 1’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+.

Initial tests of the phone claimed that the Nothing Phone 2 is twice as fast compared to Phone 1. It is said to be about 80 percent more productive than its predecessor.

Nothing Phone (2)

The company also announced today that it will offer 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates for the Nothing Phone 2.

Sold in a plastic-free packaging, the Nothing Phone 2 is claimed to have three times more recycled or bio-based parts as opposed to the Phone 1.

The upcoming model uses 100 percent recycled tin on 9 circuit boards, 100 percent recycled copper foil on the main circuit board, over 90 percent recycled steel on all 28 steel stamping parts, and 80 percent of plastic parts are sustainably sourced, the company stated in a series of tweets.

Alongside claiming that the Nothing Phone 2 uses 100 percent recycled aluminium made with 100 percent renewable energy for the handset’s mid-frame, Nothing claims that the final assembly plants of the smartphone are also powered by 100 percent renewable energy.

Nothing Phone (2) Key Specifications Revealed

Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing Phone (2) has an SGS-certified carbon footprint of 53.45kg, 5 kg lower than Phone (1). The company states that despite this, it achieved a 200mAh increase in battery and a 0.15-inch increase in screen.

Nothing confirms that the upcoming Phone (2) will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. There are reports that Nothing will continue to equip the device with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Carl Pei had previously revealed they would pack a large 4700mAh battery with the upcoming device. However, they haven’t commented on the fast-charging capability of the device.

Nothing Phone (2)

There are chances for the device to continue to support 33W fast charging tech. Previously, Nothing CEO revealed that the device would sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC built on a 4nm process.

The GeekBench listing of the device confirmed that it would pack up to 12GB of RAM. The listing reveals that the model number will be A065, and the device will run on Android 13 out of the box.

The smartphone scored 1253 and 3833 points in single and multi-core tests. Nothing is likely to launch the device with 8, 12GB RAM and 128, 256GB storage variants. There is no information regarding the rear and front cameras of the upcoming device.

Nothing Aims to Become the Sustainable Android Phone Manufacturer

Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing has revealed that the company will use a recycled aluminium mid-frame with the smartphone. The company also uses recycled copper foil on the motherboard, tin used on nine circuit boards, 90% recycled steel for 28 stamping parts, and also uses sustainability sourced 90% of plastic parts.

They will also offer plastic-free packaging with the upcoming device, which would be similar to the experience with the latest iPhones.

The company is setting a standard for other smartphone manufacturers on sustainability. The company also confirms that the upcoming device will offer 3 major Android updates and up to 4 years of security updates.

The intention towards prolonged updates is to increase the number of years which a user uses.

Nothing Phone (2) Battery Details

Nothing Phone (2)

Pei in an interview with Forbes revealed that the Nothing Phone (2) will pack a 4,700mAh battery. The charging details haven’t been revealed yet.

In comparison to the Nothing Phone (1)’s 4,500mAh battery, this is a slight increase but with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, it would be an 80% increase in overall performance improvement over the last gen.

On choosing the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip instead of the Gen 2, Pei gave the reason that this would make the Nothing Phone (2) remain accessible which is probably hinting at the price range for the smartphone.

Nothing Phone (2)

The Nothing Phone (1) sits at a comfortable spot in terms of pricing where it isn’t as expensive as the premium affordable smartphones but not too cheap either.

Going with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip would make the Nothing Phone (2) remain accessible.

Nothing Phone (2): Launch Details

Nothing Phone (2)

The Nothing Phone (2) is officially confirmed to launch worldwide in July. The exact launch date of the device has not been revealed yet. Ahead of the launch, Nothing’s CEO has revealed some new details.

Pei has confirmed that the upcoming Nothing flagship smartphone will pack slightly bigger battery than the outgoing model. He revealed that the Phone (1) successor will launch with a 4700mAh battery. The first Nothing smartphone, in comparison, came with a 4500mAh battery.

The charging details of the device have been kept under wraps. It would not be surprising if Nothing launches the device with the same 33W fast charging support that its predecessor came with.

Nothing Phone (2)

Pei had previously revealed that the Phone (2) will launch with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

When asked about why not going ahead with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Pei said, “Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a proven processor. It has been thoroughly tested and continuously optimised through numerous updates since its introduction a year ago. We prioritise user experience over being first in the specs race. Also, the latest technology comes at a cost which isn’t always justified from a user benefit standpoint. Choosing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 ensures that Phone (2) remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone (1).”

Faqs on Nothing Phone (2)

1) What are Nothing Phone (2) expected specifications?

Ans) There’s still a lot that hasn’t leaked about the Nothing Phone (2) but based on what we’ve seen and confirmed so far, here’s all we know:

* The Nothing Phone (2) is expected to feature a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also said to house an in-display fingerprint sensor.
* The smartphone is rumoured to house a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary camera with OIS.
* When launched, the Nothing Phone (2) will most likely come in three variants of 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB.
* As for the confirmed specs, we know the Nothing Phone (2) will come with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and a 4,700mAh battery.

2) Nothing Phone (2) launch timeline details?

Ans) Just earlier this month, it was announced that the Nothing Phone (2) will launch this summer. Pei has now revealed that the launch will take place in July and it’s going to be a global release. This means that the Nothing Phone (2) will launch in several countries at the same time so it should come to India soon.

In the interview, Pei also shared how the Nothing Phone (1) was a risky but successful launch as it confirmed that people are excited about something new in the Android smartphone market. He also pointed out how Apple doesn’t have a “really exciting alternative out there right now, especially for the younger generation.”
With the Nothing Phone (2), the company is most likely going ahead with the transparent design which was a big hit with the Nothing Phone (1). A very tiny teaser image of the phone also hints at this possibility.

3) Nothing Phone (2) is officially coming in July with a 4,700 mAh battery.Details?

Ans) Nothing’s second smartphone, the aptly named Phone (2), will arrive in July, according to CEO Carl Pei. He outed the information in an interview with Forbes today. Previously, Pei also revealed that the handset will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, making it a definite step above the mid-range Nothing Phone (1), while not quite being on par with 2023’s flagships that use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

That decision was related to the comparative costs of the two SoCs, and the company judged the latest chip not worthy of the premium. We’ll see how that pans out – we’d wager that a lot of people would be willing to swallow this if the price “is right”. If the price delta is too small compared to other flagships, then it will be a different situation.

The teaser image you can see above was shared by Nothing itself at the beginning of the month, and it now seems like the launch campaign is in full session, with the traditional OnePlus/Nothing style of drip-feeding us spec information every other week or so.
Speaking of which, today we got the battery size too: it’s going to be a 4,700 mAh cell. That’s 200 mAh more than the one in the Nothing Phone (1), but not quite up there with the standard nowadays, which is 5,000 mAh. How that will impact endurance remains to be seen of course.

4) How is the Nothing Phone (2) Chipset ?

Ans) Furthermore, the top executive explains the reason behind choosing the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC.

* Firstly, Carl Pei acknowledges the new chipset is a clear upgrade from Phone (1) which came with the Snapdragon 778G+.

* Probably having used the Nothing Phone (2), Carl Pei says that during the initial tests, the app opening speed is twice as fast compared to Phone (1).

* There is an impressive 80 percent performance improvement.

* Carl Pei says that opting for the Snapdragon 8 Series rather than the 7 Series brings significant improvements across the board including battery life, network connectivity, and camera capabilities.

* The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 features an 18-bit Image Signal Processor (ISP) capable of capturing over 4,000 times more camera data than the ISP used on the Phone (1). This results in the Phone (2) camera offering advanced features like Raw HDR and 4K recording at 60 fps.

* The Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 is based on 4nm TSMC and offers stable performance.

Interestingly, Carl Pei talks about pricing as well. The top executive says that “Sometimes the latest technology comes at a cost which isn’t always justified from a user benefit standpoint. Choosing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 ensures that Phone (2) remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone (1).“

5) What are Nothing Phone (2) Specifications Revealed Via Geekbench?

Ans) The Nothing Phone (2) will launch as a new premium smartphone later this year. The phone has visited the Geekbench website ahead of its launch.

The listing on Geekbench confirms some key specs of the device.
The Phone (2) has the model number A065. According to the listing on Geekbench, the device draws power from a Snapdragon processor codenamed taro.

This essentially is the codename for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which has a peak clock speed of 3.0GHz.

The SoC has three performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

The Nothing smartphone’s variant listed on Geekbench has 12GB of RAM. We can expect the phone to launch the device with 8GB of RAM as well. It is likely to launch with 128GB and 256GB of storage in various markets.

The Phone (2) scored 1253 and 3833 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests. It was also spotted running Android 13 on Geekbench. The device is likely to feature Nothing OS 1.5 on top of Android.

The listing does not reveal any other specs of the device. We previously reported that the Phone (2) is likely to pack a 5000mAh battery. It is also likely to sport an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The device has cleared the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) certification website, which hints at an imminent launch. It is also confirmed to be available for purchase via Flipkart soon after it has been launched in India.
The Nothing Phone (2) already cleared the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standard) certification, which suggests the Indian launch might be inching close.

Not much else is known about Phone (2) at the moment but we’re curious to see the direction Nothing is headed. We’re hoping to learn more details about the phone in the days to come.
