Harbhajan Singh, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Manisha Koirala come together to laud World Esports Cup winners

0

Two cricket legends from India and Pakistan, Harbhajan Singh and Inzamam-ul-Haq and Bollywood star Manisha Koirala graced the gala virtual awards ceremony of South East Asia’s premier tri-nation esports tournament, World Esports Cup (WEC). The WEC virtual award ceremony is streaming live today on the YouTube channel of ITG.

The tournament witnessed top esports talents from India, Pakistan and Nepal fight it out in a three-month-long keenly-contested WEC, which kickstarted on November 25.

While the participants left no stone unturned, the championship saw a fitting ending with Harbhajan Singh, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Manisha Koirala coming together to draw curtains on the marquee event, which carried a total prize purse of Rs 75 lakh.

As WEC witnessed both esports professionals as well as raw talents from the three neighboring nations giving their all; there was no dearth of high-octane gameplay. The gamers from India, Pakistan, and Nepal displayed brilliant attacks as well as defensive strategies, tactics and coordination. But it was Total Gaming, India’s top Free Fire team that emerged winners and lifted the tri-nation cup title. India bagged the top four positions in the tournament followed by Nepal in the fifth and Pakistan in the sixth spot.

“While we walked the path to create some amazing IPR properties in Esports with Free Fire Team, our goal at the same time has been to bring Gamers and established Sports athletes on the same platform so that the Indian Esports ecosystem can not only witness revolutionary opportunities but also legends of the game can motivate and inspire the gamers from across the sub-continent. It will also help Esports get its due as a New Age Sport in India and globally. I am really thankful to cricket legends Harbhajan Singh and Inzamam-ul-Haq along with Bollywood star Manisha Koirala who came together to celebrate the winners at the virtual award ceremony of WEC,” said Vishwalok Nath, Director, WEC.

The inaugural edition of this tri-nation cup was held completely online and the three month long tournament registered a total viewership of 130 million+ video views across the social channels of India Today Gaming (ITG).

“For us it’s a new thing…we used to play for the sake of entertainment. But people are making a career out of it now. There are analysts for them, there are discussions around it and even coaching is provided to make them understand the nuances of the game. Not only the players but many people are now associating with it in order to be something. It is relatively easy for me to understand the demands and effort. I would suggest to these players that if you love esports then put in your hard work and become so strong that no one can beat you,” said Harbhajan Singh, former India cricketer.

The winning team took home a cash prize of Rs 35 lakh, while the runner-up bagged Rs 15 lakh. The Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) was given to Daksh Garg, aka Mafia of Total Gaming esports Team. Ajay Sharma, aka FozyAjay of Total Gaming, was awarded the Best IGL of the Championship. Nepal’s Team Khelmandap Brotherhood won the best underdog team while India’s Radhe Thakur was adjudged as the Best Clutcher of the Tournament. The fans voted Total Gaming as their favorite team. All the individual awardees received Rs 50,000 as prize money.

“The best part is everyone can participate in these games…like how for India and Pakistan matches we had the pressure to win, the same pressure was on these (esports) players…the traditional rivalry of India vs Pakistan matches like in cricket, hockey or kabaddi is high so the competition will be high, and it will continue in esports also,” stated Inzamam-ul-Haq, former Pakistan cricket captain.

The World Esports Cup had Infinix Smartphone as the presenting sponsor and was played under the aegis of gamer-centric campaign #GameHaiToFameHai with Tiger Shroff as the inimitable brand ambassador that encouraged players to showcase their top game and get recognised by the gaming industry.

Autonomous movers set for US launch in 2024

0

To address micro-transit needs across public and private communities, Benteler EV Systems, Beep Inc., and Mobileye, an Intel company, announced a strategic collaboration to develop and deploy automotive-grade, fully electric, autonomous movers in public and private communities across North America. Aimed at first- and last-mile use cases in urban areas, the shuttles are due to begin production deployments in the United States in 2024.

The collaboration between Benteler EV Systems, Beep and Mobileye will facilitate the development and deployment of a fully autonomous (SAE Level 4) electric mover for the US designed to meet automotive industry and safety standards for public road use. The purpose-built autonomous mover from Benteler EV Systems will be underpinned by Mobileye’s industry leading self-driving system, Mobileye Drive™, and supported by Beep’s proven deployment and operations systems, technology and services.

“Multipassenger micro-transit needs are ever-increasing in our cities and towns globally and must be addressed in order to reduce road congestion, protect the environment and provide safe, reliable mobility for all to access,” explained Hinrich Woebcken, advisory board member for Beep and former CEO of Volkswagen North America. “Bringing to market an affordable, automotive-grade, electric, autonomous mover is a solution that will transform mobility as we know it today.”

The trio can draw upon years of experience in important aspects of autonomous solutions – Beep in the operations of micro-transit and mobility solutions, Benteler EV Systems in the design and manufacturing of automotive solutions and safety systems, and Mobileye in the delivery of automated driving solutions.

Collaboration taps into cross-industry experience

Benteler EV Systems, a Benteler company and undisputed expert in full system technology for electric vehicles, is well known for its scalable and modular platform for electric vehicles, the Benteler Electric Drive System. Offering first-class engineering, excellent vehicle integration and global manufacturing expertise, Benteler EV Systems will develop an autonomous mover and integrate all individual subsystems into the final vehicle. This includes the industrialization and production of the mover. Production will take place in the US, with the ambition to roll out the mover to other countries helping deliver the mobility of the future.

“Autonomous movers are the solution for future public transportation, solving the mobility challenges of increasing urbanization and emissions,” said Marco Kollmeier, managing director of Benteler EV Systems GmbH. “These movers need to be robust for 24/7 public or commercial use, at optimized costs and with excellent riding comfort. Consequently, we decided to go for this strategic collaboration with our partners Mobileye and Beep, to build autonomous movers delivering exactly against these market demands. Another example of how we make the mobility of tomorrow lighter, safer and more sustainable.”

“The full benefits of autonomy can only be reached with scale. Working with Beep and Benteler, Mobileye aims to mass-produce first- and last-mile self-driving mobility solutions that will enable the convenient, accessible and safe movement of people across North America,” said Johann Jungwirth, vice president of Mobility-as-a-Service at Mobileye.

Beep enjoys a leadership position in the US, having successfully tested autonomous electric shuttles in many public road projects for tens of thousands of riders over tens of thousands of road miles in 2021 alone.

“Beep’s well-established US footprint for our autonomous mobility operations model, which incorporates machine learning, contextual route intelligence and Beep’s existing centralized command center platform, combine with Benteler’s and Mobileye’s manufacturing expertise to make this the first alignment of all capabilities needed to successfully scale the deployment of this important transformation in passenger mobility,” said Joe Moye, CEO of Beep.

Baazi Games, Indus App Bazaar come together for next phase of growth

0

Popular gaming platform Baazi Games has partnered with homegrown Indus App Bazaar to accelerate its next growth phase. The gaming company, which is a proud “Made in India” brand, has been associated with Indus App Bazaar since 2019.

Indus App Bazaar, which happens to be India’s largest indigenous app store, helps Baazi Games penetrate deeper into the target market through this collaboration. As an alternative app store, Indus App Bazaar is the key to tapping the right audiences for Baazi Games. Baazi Games is banking on reaching its target groups faster with Indus App Bazaar’s ability to gauge consumer preferences and suggest relevant apps for them to download.

Baazi Games and other similar game publishers can expect various means of support like increased app discovery, optimized revenue generation, language localization, and continuous developer support. With Google’s Play Store guidelines not allowing skill games apps to be present on the platform, Indus App Bazaar will help widen Baazi Game’s audience reach exponentially.

Indus App Bazaar

Suniva Rawat, AVP of Marketing at Indus OS, sheds some more light on how the partnership benefits both parties. She said, “Mobile app makers are constantly on the lookout for avenues of growth. With Indus App Bazaar, the room for expansion is raised significantly. Plus, developers have the freedom to maneuver with full confidence in our support as an app distributor. Our collaboration with Baazi Games is another chance to support their growth and we’re keenly looking forward to working with them.”

With the increasing popularity of “Made in India” games amongst Indian gamers (60% of Indians prefer games with the “Made in India” brand), Baazi Games is hoping to ride further up.

Varun Ganjoo, Co-founder and Marketing Director, Baazi Games, said, “We take a lot of pride in being a Made in India app. From the very outset, our aim has been to create an ecosystem for skilled games like Poker and make them a household game. Through this association, we look forward to widening our user base and continue to be a contributor to the ecosystem by identifying the audience who are willing to gel with us.”

“Made in India” gaming applications know the true user base lies in the tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Most of these applications are available in multiple languages and they are customizing their campaigns to reach out to various socio-economic classes.
