BSNL Broadband Plan
BSNL

Highlights

  • BSNL Fibre Basic broadband plan has been launched in India.
  • The pack offers 40Mbps speed, unlimited data and voice calling to any network, and 3.3TB FUP per month.
  • The BSNL Fibre Basic plan costs Rs.499 + taxes per month.

In Brief

Where would we be without our ever reliable Wi-Fi connection? Or the hefty mobile data through which we could surf the internet to our heart’s content? It is both virtually and literally impossible to imagine life without internet in the 21st century.

The internet phenomenon is nothing new because it has opened many doors for people as they no longer have to rely on hardbound books in schools and libraries to get the information they need as everything is available online.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is one of the biggest telecom networks in India whose history dates back to the British era but now it is under the supervision of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India.

The good news for many users is that it is planning to launch a new broadband plan across the country called Fibre Basic, which is designed to give customers numerous benefits of more than 3TB.

Although BSNL had started this plan much earlier, it was discontinued very soon for unknown reasons but now you can avail it at a revised price of Rs.499, excluding taxes, while the earlier price was Rs.449.

BSNL Broadband Plan

With this updated plan, BSNL plans to offer 40Mbps for the 3.3TB data but once it is exhausted, the speed will be reduced to a mere 4Mbps, while there is an unlimited voice calling to any network that buys this plan.

In addition, customers will also get a 90% discount up to Rs.500 the first month, while there is another broadband plan at Rs.449 by BSNL called Fibre Basic Neo, which reduces the speed from 40Mbps to 30 Mbps, although there will be no change in the data limit so customers will get up to 3.3TB.

Conclusion

With this new plan, BSNL has discontinued the older broadband plans that cost Rs.275 and Rs.775 launched in August 2022, but were cancelled on November 15, 2022, which is why the telecom network wants people to switch to the new plan immediately to avail its benefits.

Safe Mode
Safe Mode

Brief Summary

To say that you need to have a smartphone with you will be a gross understatement because now, in 2022, it is virtually impossible to exist without it, while many people equate losing a smartphone to losing their right arm, and it is easy to see why.

The smartphone is much more than a mere mode of convenience for conversing with others or sending/receiving messages because it has become a virtual biodata of its users as it stores all his/her personal information inside it.

Even many users are not completely familiar with each and every feature that their smartphone possesses but know better to learn as much about new and upcoming ones as possible.

It doesn’t matter if you’re using an Android or iPhone, it is impertinent to have a smartphone at handy in this day and age because even you wouldn’t realize how and when it will prove to be useful in more ways than one.

Android users should be aware of some important features that isn’t easy to recall from the top of your mind like Safe Mode, but first you need to know what exactly it is before moving further.

For the unversed, Safe Mode is a feature found in an Android device that proves to be of great use if your handset’s apps have abruptly crashed or it has become ridiculously slow because with this feature you can check whether a particular application is causing an issue on your smartphone.

Safe mode

This is why it is considered a lifesaver for any Android device because it is due to Safe mode that it restarts only with the software and pre-installed apps on your handset when you bought it for the first time.

For turning on safe mode, you need to first power off your device, then press and hold the power button, when the animation starts, press the volume key and hold it downwards.

You have to continue holding it until the animation is over so that your device begins in safe mode, following which the mode will appear at the bottom of your screen, for which you need to navigate to its option via volume keys so that your device is rebooted to safe mode.

Steps to Turn Off Safe Mode

First you turn off your device, press and hold volume control down and power the buttons so that the recovery mode opens up, following which you navigate to it for using the volume option, upon which you reset your device by pressing the power option, and finally, your device will exit the safe mode.

Top 5 God of War Ragnarok-like Games

The recently launched Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarok had fans in queues waiting since 2018 when God of War was first introduced to gamers. Now that the sequel is out, superfans have already dived into the adventures of Kratos and Atreus and many have even finished almost 20 hours of the game already. If games such as God of War Ragnarok have your fancy, then we have rounded up below some of the similar yet distinctively thrilling games for you.

Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima

The tone of Ghost of Tsushima, its action sequences and explorations, would seem fairly similar to anyone who has played the God of War. The storyline, however, is different which makes it a perfect game if you wish to play something similar to God of War but not a total rehash. The game has a historic touch. Here, you take on the role of Jin Sakai, a samurai.  Jin wishes to free Tsushima, his homeland from Mongol invaders. In this quest, Jin creates a team of other samurais, some assassins and when required his Ghost Stance, which gives the game its name.

Elden Ring

Elden Ring

It might not have the similar look and feel of God of War, but Elden Ring is definitely something that you should check out. FromSoftware’s collaboration with the one and only George R.R. Martin has everything to make that you expect from a classic Martin tale. With a multi-layered storyline, massive world-building, intricate characterisation, multiple small-time enemies, and too many big bad monsters, Elden Ring will immerse you in its world. Players, just like in God of War 2018, will have an extraordinary time exploring and experiencing the world of Elden Rings.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice - Top 5 God of War Ragnarok-like Games

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a story of a Celtic warrior named Senua from the Viking age. Senua in the game forges a battle for her dead lover’s soul and has to move through Viking hell so to speak. The haunting visuals and complementary audio make the experience of playing this game extra thrilling till the last moment. There is a stark similarity between God of War Ragnarok and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, both games use a single-take camera throughout. The makers have extra layers of intricacy and thrill by keeping the character of Senua on the verge of psychosis as she goes through tons of mental turmoil during the game.

Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West - Top 5 God of War Ragnarok-like Games

After the critical and commercial success of Horizon Zero Down, Guerilla Games’ introduced the sequel Horizon Forbidden West to follow the adventures of Aloy, the young female warrior. Aloy is in the post-apocalyptic United States and Horizon Forbidden West makers have beautifully designed and developed the open world. They have added rich characters, lore, and robots to complete the world and elevate the thrill levels. The stunning visuals will surely remind you of God of War Ragnarok, however, the storyline and overall vibe of the game are completely different.

The Last of Us Part 2

The Last of Us Part 2

Although the world, vibe and adventures of The Last of Us Part 2 and God of War Ragnarok are poles apart, there are some interesting thematic similarities that both game share. Most important of all is the element of loss in both storylines. The world again is masterfully developed and game design makes it appears as real as it can get. Also, if you are a gamer, you probably are already aware of the massive fanbase the game has created and the online community you can be a part of through this adventure.

  • It is currently rolled out to Indian units and is sized over 5GB.
  • The update bring Aquamorphic design, Quantum Animation Engine 4.0, and more.

In Brief

To say that 2022 has been a successful year for the tech industry would be an understatement. This was the year when many tech giants like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Google, OnePlus, OPPO, and many others had some excellent releases that were lapped up by the audience.

2022 is here to stay for a few more weeks following which the new year, 2023, will also see the launch of a slew of devices from many of the aforementioned names but since there is still a month to go, there are some devices lined up for release even now.

Among the well-known ones, OnePlus 9RT was released with much fanfare and positive reviews from common users and tech experts alike, but there is another update that they can avail as the company has apparently decided to reward its users with something more.

The latest buzz doing the rounds is that OnePlus has now rolled out Android 13 OS for its device OnePlus 9RT, which is soon finding its way into Indian models and has several unique features to boast of.

Users will be delighted to know that there will be many privacy features that will be added to the phone for enhancing data security, which is something that is a constant source of worry for many people.

OnePlus 9RT

Key Features

Among the key features include OxygenOS 13 stable that will be rolling out to the Indian OnePlus 9RT users that will be available for those users first that took part in the Open Beta program followed by others and if any Indian user with 9RT that is using Open beta will get a notification immediately.

Then there are features like the Quantum Animation Engine 4.0, Aquamorphic Design, Chat screenshot pixilation, etc. People that aren’t using open beta can update it manually by going to ‘Settings’, then ‘Software update’, which is over 5GB and the company itself advises 5.5GB free storage space prior to updating.

The phone’s battery has to be above 30% prior to updating, although OnePlus recommends it to be more than 50, just in case, because sometimes certain updates take a while to be completed.

The Always-On display shows regular updates about music, food delivery, app dependency, apart from optimizing earphone and screencast connectivity, while Bitmoji has colour palette and drawing tools for AOD, along with privacy features that will be pixelated.

TRAI Announces KYC Based Caller ID; Details Inside

0
TRAI
TRAI

In Brief

We all know how important it is having smartphone in handy because it is no longer just a device to be used for communicating with others but much more than that.

It is virtually impossible to imagine life without mobile phones these days because it has become a tool for housing many of our personal information other than phone numbers and messages.

The evolution of mobile phones to smartphones has been to the convenience of many users because now they can make even financial transactions with their devices due to their bank accounts now being linked to them.

However, the one problem that continues to persist is the constant number of spam calls that continue to pester the customers to no end because there is hardly a day that goes by without them getting a promotional call for customer care services like home loan, car loan, credit cards, and many similar ones.

This becomes quite frustrating after sometime because there is simply no way of figuring out whether it is an important call or a miscellaneous one with a salesman trying to sell one of his schemes.

While there are third party caller apps like TrueCaller where the anonymous caller’s name is revealed, sometimes the name turns out to be of the previous owner and are mostly based on crowd-sourced data.

Luckily, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has come up with a solution to the problem in the form of a KYC-based Caller ID system, which will be a robust caller identity system for identifying unknown callers and will be available in India in the coming weeks.

TRAI

With this feature, the caller’s real name will be displayed on the screen and there will be no alias to worry about like the usual made-up names that surfaces every time an unknown number calls up.

This upcoming Caller ID system will prove to be an ideal competitor to Truecaller, which is why the makers are leaving no stone unturned that its features are such that they live up to the expectations of the user.

Also, the telecom authorities will be able to keep a close watch on suspicious callers so as to see whether the protocols are being followed or if the telecom operators are resorting to shortcuts for storing user data.

Conclusion

If the reports are to be believed, the ID system would be applicable for WhatsApp calls as well through which WhatsApp users will be able to see the subscriber’s name and not the registered name created for calling.

Elon Musk Hints at Twitter Working on Direct Message Issue

Twitter Direct Message
Twitter

Highlights

  • Elon Musk has previously advocated for E2EE on Twitter
  • A line of code indicating E2EE was spotted on Twitter for Android app
  • Musk did not reveal an official launch date for E2EE

In Brief

Things have changed drastically ever since Elon Musk has taken over Twitter as its new CEO. Of course the path hasn’t been easy for the billionaire entrepreneur as he has been locked in a courtroom battle with the social media platform for nearly a year.

The Tesla CEO had proposed to purchase the social media giant for a whopping $44 billion but backed out of the deal, leaving Twitter no choice but to take the legal route, which is why the case had to go to court and now, Musk has become the undisputed owner of Twitter.

As of late, Twitter seems to be working on bringing end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for direct messages, on which it has been working on since 2018, but there was no definitive lead for some time, which is why it couldn’t make it to the final cut.

It appears that Twitter is going through a rough patch as Elon Musk has fired nearly 7,000+ employees as he wants to make the platform, in his words, engineer-driven and has issued an ultimatum for the remaining ones to work for 40 hours a week with high intensity if they want to continue with the company.

Twitter Direct Message

It is not yet specified as to when E2EE will be launched because ever since Musk took over, he seems more focused on relaunching Twitter Blue for which the date has been set at November 29, 2022.

There has been a line of code that indicates that E2EE for direct messages is under working phase, with Musk himself replying with a winking emoji to the researcher who had tweeted the line of code, apparently confirming that the feature is under development.

Many researchers have claimed that Twitter has been working on numerous options so that users can get a virtual tutorial on how to encrypt messages and starting a secret conversations, while the option for viewing encrypted messages of both parties was made available so that verifying a secure connection could be made easy.

Conclusion

Given that Twitter Blue will be relaunched on November 29, it is unclear as to when the end-to-end encryption feature will see the light of the day and things aren’t helping with Twitter employees voicing their displeasure of Musk taking over the platform, which has been made worse due to his no-nonsense attitude.
