For disappearing messages, the platform is implementing changes to the media visibility option. Previously, all media files were automatically saved to the Camera Roll. However, with this new version, users would have to explicitly adjust the settings. A feature called ‘View Once’ had been added to the Windows beta app by another WhatsApp update to the Universal Windows Platform app. The function, which was first made available to Android and iOS users last year, allows a message to self-destruct once it has been viewed once.

WABetaInfo found that “WhatsApp is now automatically turning off the option “media visibility” for disappearing chats on WhatsApp for Android, which let people view media in their phone’s gallery. This is to ensure a better privacy experience when using disappearing messages and to help keep media more private in disappearing chat threads.”

He further added, “In addition, WhatsApp is rolling out the same change on WhatsApp for iOS, where the option “Save to Camera Roll” is automatically turned off for disappearing chats. In this case, images, videos, and GIFs are never automatically saved in your camera roll if the general setting is enabled.”

In a latest tweet, Parag Agrawal, the Twitter CEO has announced that Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk is not joining the company’s board. Earlier, Agarwal expressed excitement over the Musk’s joining of Twitter’s board after Musk became Twitter’s largest shareholder. Elon Musk has bought 9.2% shares of Twitter at around $3 billion.

“Elon has decided not to join our board. I sent a brief note to the company, sharing with you all here (sic),” reads a tweet by Agarwal. A short note is also included with his tweet which does not clarify as to why Musk is not joining the Twitter board.

In the note included with his tweet, Agarwal mentions that the Twitter will continue to  value input from our shareholders whether they are on our Board or not. Elon is the biggest shareholder of Twitter and we will remain open to his input,” Agarwal wrote.

The latest twist is quite interesting as Musk has been posting and asking several questions about the future of Twitter and its policies. In one of his tweets, Tesla CEO wrote that everyone who is signing up for Twitter Blue (a paid subscription service the company is testing in select countries) needs to get an authentication checkmark and that it should have no ads.

He also insists Twitter is a key public platform, and asked his followers in a poll whether Twitter is rigorously adhering to the principles of free speech. He also asked his followers whether the Twitter headquarters should be converted into a shelter for homeless, since no one uses it anymore.

World Parkinson’s Day: Noida school students develop device to help Parkinson’s disease patient

To counteract the problem of hand tremors and restore confidence among individuals facing challenges in their daily lives with excessive shaking of hands, a group of school students have developed an innovative and user-friendly solution. The innovation has come ahead of the World Parkinson’s Day on April 11. The device called Dextrabot is for those suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

Six students; Vaidehi Saxena, Madhavi Ojha, Subah Raman, Tvisha Raj, Oorjit Mahajan and Viryansh Rastogi from class X of Shiv Nadar School (an initiative of the philanthropic Shiv Nadar Foundation), came up with the innovation. They worked on tackling the issue of hand tremors among Parkinson’s disease patient.

They conducted an internal online survey and found that 32.9% were suffering from the problem of hand tremors or knew someone who faced this issue.

These students develop DEXTRABOT, a device that is both inexpensive and effective in the treatment of hand tremors. It enables individuals to perform daily actions like eating, drinking, pouring and brushing with better hand stability.

‘Dextrabot’ is a gyroscopically stable robotic handle (Gyroscopic motion is the tendency of a rotating object to maintain the orientation of its rotation) with options for adding various attachments including spoon, fork, toothbrush, and more which can help people suffering from essential tremors. This light weight device stands out for its unique sensory mechanism and is designed using electronics and robotics. The product comes with an ergonomic handle, dual-axis correction, and works on the Arduino Nano technique which helps control the sensor.

The product was created with inputs from patients and doctors from the start to ensure that ample input is married into the designing phase. Following a thorough research that highlights the life of people affected with this issue and little interventions available in the market to improve their quality of life, the team wants to cater to this niche group by collaborating with NGOs and old-age homes. The medicine which is the first and main line of treatment for hand-tremors is expensive, therefore, this product aims to make a difference in the lives of affected individuals by offering a lasting and empowering solution.

The innovation is an outcome of the Capstone Project at Shiv Nadar School, where students are encouraged to ideate and devise economically viable and creative solutions to address real-world problems.

According to sources in the media, Meta is considering implementing a centralised in-app currency system that will be shared throughout its different platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Meta appears to be concerned about the future of its finances as a result of Facebook’s declining popularity, forcing it to look for methods to diversify beyond ad revenue and better engage users.

Though not officially named “Zuck Bucks,” internal staff are said to have given the project the moniker in a reference to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Instead, it is expected to function similarly to the in-game currencies found in many mobile games. OnePlus along with Warner Music India announce the launch of My Country, My Music – a rich collaboration brought to life between music maestro Shankar Mahadevan and JioSaavn. Shot entirely on the OnePlus 10 Pro, the newly launched music video for the first track of My Country, My Music – ‘Dil Ki Dhun’, utilizes OnePlus’ superior camera experience backed by Hasselblad’s 80+ year lineage of camera expertise. The globally released song is now available exclusively on JioSaavn.

Dil Ki Dhun stems from the core campaign thought “Find Your Dhun” – created and conceptualized by JioSaavn’s creative agency, Creativeland Asia. Produced by Creative Studios and directed by Ishaan Nair, the Shot on OnePlus music video leverages the state-of-the-art Second-Generation Hasselblad Camera for Mobile featuring the OnePlus Billion Color Solution.

Conceptually, the video showcases that we are surrounded by dhun in the most common things around us. From slow traffic to a fast train and from tea being brewed and poured at a local stall to a group of children playing gully cricket – every instance carries its own quintessential dhun. The film covers many of these instances that we experience every day, along with Shankar singing the beautiful song in his melodious voice. The concept is brought to life by the power of the Sony IMX789 sensor, which is capable of recording in 4K at up to 120 fps, in 8K at 24 fps and Movie Mode that supports video capture in a LOG format, preferred by videographers.

The initiative further strengthens Warner Music India’s vision of their recently launched label Maati, which focuses on providing a national platform for Indian folk music and its artists. In the months following the release of the first track – ‘Dil Ki Dhun’, the label will launch one track per month in collaboration with Shankar Mahadevan and musical maestros from various parts of the country. All tracks will be accompanied by videos Shot on OnePlus and hosted on JioSaavn.
