How to use Dynamic Island on iPhone

Dynamic Island is a word that not many people have heard of but when Apple launched its iPhone 14 lineup, there were many rumours going around regarding a big change the company was about to bring in the new smartphone series called Dynamic Island.

For the unversed, Dynamic Island is the new pill design that Apple hopes would be a gamechanger in many aspects as it will be used for displaying notifications for transactions made on Apple Pay.

Highlights

  • Apple has come up with a new notch feature at the top called Dynamic Island for both iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
  • With the help of Dynamic Island, users will now be able to see the displayed notifications from Apple Pay transactions, AirDrop transfers, low-batter warnings.
  • Dynamic Island can also be seen in a longer window where you just need to tap the feature to launch it in its full-screen app.

Dynamic Island In Brief

Apple had launched the iPhone 14 series smartphones during the ‘Far Out’ event held in California on September 7, 2022, along with several other devices, but the company had promised to bring in major changes in the new smartphone models, which is the redesign of the iPhone notch at the top, which has been classified as notorious.

The redesigned feature is called Dynamic Island that has been confirmed to come in iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, which Apple has confirmed will be a new pill design and resolved to launch it soon after facing major flak from many Apple users over the smartphone’s notch, so now the notch is redesigned as a pill-shaped cutout called Dynamic Island.

While Dynamic Island is now featured on iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, it is unavailable on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, although Apple has confirmed that it will be featured on all iPhone 15 smartphone models launched in the future where users with a Pro model don’t need to enable or configure anything for the Dynamic Island to do the job as it automatically comes in once the phone is unlocked and any supported activity is running.

Steps to Use Dynamic Island

The Dynamic Island displays notifications for Apple Pay transactions, privacy indicators, low battery warnings, background tasks like Apple Maps directions, music being played, incoming phone calls, screen recordings, SharePlay sessions.

  • Step 1- Apple Pay

Once you make a purchase on Apple Pay, the dynamic island app displays a swirling green image to indicate Face ID authentication where you have to double-check the side button to confirm its transaction and when the face is authenticated and transaction is complete, the image turns into a green smiley face.

  • Step 2- AirDrop Transfer

AirDrop Transfer is another excellent way to use Dynamic Island as it works as a visual status indicator because once the items are shared with you, the AirDrop status indicator pops up once the files are transferred completely. How to use Dynamic Island on iPhone

  • Step 3: Timer Set

Another step is to set a timer through Dynamic Island, which can be done by opening the clock app and setting it up as the Island feature displays the countdown in minutes where you expand the info by pressing down the display. How to use Dynamic Island on iPhone

  • Step 4: Apple Maps

You can also return to the home screen while navigating Apple maps and see the turn-by-turn directions via Dynamic Island. All you need to do is to press the down display to show the next turn with an option to end the route.

Truecaller iOS
Automatically blocks calls not from approved contacts or flagged as potential spam

In this episode of the ‘how to’ edition, we bring you how to change the true caller name in Android-and iOS-based smartphones. The knowledge, the more the merrier. The question is, are you seeing the wrong name on your truecaller against a specific number?

Then you can fix it yourself and guess what it’s a cakewalk of a task. The curiosity and to maintain security just keep us active on the true caller. With the venerable usage of Truecaller services, one finds it the most reliable tool to get the name of unknown numbers.

And if you do not have this application on your smartphone, it will be vehemently advisable to install this app for true results. However, just like every other service, truecaller is also not immune to some bugs and issues here and there.

Among these issues changing the true caller name is one of them, the good news is it can be solved. Before going ahead and knowing the steps to resolve the problem let’s know the ‘why’ or reason for such a scenario.

Why is TrueCaller Showing the Wrong Name?

If we simply get into this, the details and the name of the contact are gathered by a true caller from the phonebook of the mobile where the app is installed. And via the crowd-sourcing method, truecaller gets all the information.

During this entire process, the name against that specific contact number gets amalgamated by their profession or where the person is working, resulting in giving a completely different meaning to the contact number.

Sometimes the case can be different if the phone number previously belonged to the other party and the truecaller has gathered the old information and the prior owner’s name for that number.

Concluding the scenario here, we can say why it is required to change the number on truecaller sometimes as follows:

  1. The wrong combination of a name with information gathered from the crowd-sourcing method.
  2. The discrepancies occurred on the newly acquired number, as the truecaller still shows the name of the former owner.

The steps to change the name on truecaller

Change the true caller name in the Android device:

  1. First, open the Truecaller App, and go to the profile icon that appears in the top left corner.
  2. Click on ‘Edit Profile’.
  3. There you can edit the name or rectify the name on the true caller.

2022 Winners and Loser Gadgets – Samsung, Xiaomi, and Apple

0
2022 Winners and Loser Gadgets

2022 wasn’t an easy year for the consumer electronics industry including the smartphone market segment with the pandemic after effects and looming economic downturn. The smartphone industry is competitive and always looking for market disruptors, which is why every brand constantly tries to reinvent its portfolio.

In this quest, we get a range of new products every year with some of them turning out to be winner and loser gadgets. Leading brands such as Apple, Xiaomi and Samsung also present an assortment of budget to mid range smartphones with some cool features and high-end specifications.

In order to understand how the top brands – Apple, Xiaomi, and Samsung – faired with their new product launches and which are the 2022 winners and loser gadgets, let’s get into the details of each brand one by one.

Samsung – 2022 Winners and Loser Gadgets

Samsung has been at the top of its game ever since it entered the smartphone segment. However, as a well-established brand, the journey henceforth gets even more challenging in itself and then there is always the competition from newer brands.

But this is where Samsung has always managed to emerge victorious with its capable portfolio of mid-ranges, flagships, accessories and other gadgets. Let’s look at the 2022 winners and losers for Samsung.

Winner: Galaxy S22 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is a perfect flagship product with premium camera features that most users can’t stop raving about. The Galaxy S22 Ultra has been one of the most popular products from the brand’s lineup and a clear winner for Samsung.

Winner: Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4

2022 Winners and Loser Gadgets

The Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 are again two absolute winners from the brand’s portfolio of the year. While the Galaxy Z Fold4 with its 50MP main camera and a 3x telephoto camera over its predecessor is an absolute star, the Galaxy Z Flip4 with battery and charging speed boost makes it a killer combination that is hard to miss.

Losers: Galaxy S22 and S22+

Let’s keep the Ultra model aside and look at the S22 series, disappointment is bound to happen.  No one can argue that the Galaxy S22 series remained underwhelming especially when you look at it as an upgrade from the S21.

There are many reasons to complain but let’s highlight the smaller rear panel and underwhelming camera set-ups.

Losers: Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro

Samsung brought the latest colour options and clad them with Sapphire crystal, something that does give the smartwatch a nice touch. However, both Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro use the same Exynos W920 chip and sensors as Galaxy Watch4. Now, this automatically reduces the appeal of the new watches as compared to the old ones.

Xiaomi – 2022 Winners and Loser Gadgets

Being one of the major players in the Indian smartphone market, Xiaomi was in the middle of a financially turbulent 2022. However, that never affected its gadget lineup as the company launched some great products throughout the year.

We got a range of Redmi Note 11 phones, some Poco phones and also an exciting Xiaomi 12 series beasts. But what turned out to be a winner and loser for the brand is what we are here to see. Let’s find out.

Winner: Xiaomi 12S Ultra

This smartphone was an instant winner when it arrived. The 1”-type 50MP main camera sensor with two more shooters provided one of the most capable camera setups that one can find in the market today at the given price range.

Now widely recognised as a cameraphone, Xiaomi 12S Ultra is a sure-shot winner without second thoughts for the year 2022.

Winner: Xiaomi 12T Pro

Xiaomi 12T pro

Another winner, if we had to choose one, has to be 12T Pro. When Xiaomi decided to have no Ultra phones this year, the Pro variants somehow turned out to be the next best thing on its portfolio.

Being the brand’s international flagship, the affordable Xiaomi 12T Pro with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and a 200 MP camera quickly became one of the sought-after smartphones in its entire portfolio.

Loser: Xiaomi Mix Fold 2

Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 Ultra - 2022 Winners and Loser Gadgets

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is Xiaomi’s second-generation foldable device, which interestingly never got an international release. As a second-generation gadget, most people would agree that the device was rather unprepared or half-baked.

Keeping everything aside, the custom MIUI limiting the multitasking capabilities of the smartphone is what takes away most of the value from the smartphone.

Loser: Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 series

This is a perfect case of when you don’t know how to handle the success of one product.  The Redmi Note family is surely one of the best-selling smartphone series in Xiaomi’s portfolio.

But in 2022, Xiaomi ended up confusing not only its customers but also many tech experts. The brand released the same phone with the same name but different specs in different locations and no one really got the better of it.

Apple – 2022 Winners and Loser Gadgets

Apple’s 2022 has been a good year with some good products and some great product launches. On one hand, we have the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max smashing through the high-end smartphone segment, on the other hand, we had accessories such as the Apple MR headset and Apple Watch Ultra launched this year. So, let’s look at the 2022 winners and losers from Apple’s lineup.

Winners: iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max

iPhone 14 Pro - 2022 Winners and Loser Gadgets

We can all them Apple’s best-seller of 2022. The 14 Pro has been the most moving Apple product out of the four iPhone 14 models.

The first Dynamic Island notch, the first truly high-megapixel camera on an iPhone, autofocusing ultrawide cameras, and the latest A16 Bionic chipset, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max gave us many reasons to be termed as the winners of 2022.

Loser: iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone mini

2022 is also the year when Apple decided to take the leap with iPhone 14 Plus and stop the already underwhelming Mini. However, even the 14 Plus couldn’t enter the trending list.

This, on the other hand, proves that customers aren’t keen on investing in an iPhone that is non-pro. Overall, it is not easy to assume which one between iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone mini performed worse than the other.

Glass Onion, a Knives Out Mystery: A Review

0
Glass Onion

Glass Onion, the effervescent sequel to Knives Out that recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, is probably more horrible—or, at the very least, awful in broader and more noticeable ways.

While Rian Johnson’s first whodunit focused on the stunted family of a famous novelist, individuals who at least pretended to be respectable, his latest one focuses on a gang of “disruptors” who are prominent enough to perform their respective grifts openly. Claire Debella (Kathryn Hahn) is Connecticut’s governor and an aspiring senator who talks tough on CNN while secretly permitting experimental technology in exchange for donation money.

Lionel Toussaint (Leslie Odom Jr.) is the head scientist at Alpha, the corporation responsible for the untested technology, and has hurried timetables and ignored safety measures at his boss’s request.

Birdie Jay (Kate Hudson) is a television celebrity turned sweatband brand owner who is prone to viral scandals to the point where her secretary, Peg (Jessica Henwick), keeps her phone. Duke Cody (Dave Bautista) is a social media star who has turned alt-right, using his pistol and his much younger lover, Whiskey (Madelyn Cline), as props.

Glass Onion

Miles Bron (Edward Norton), the host of the weekend vacation during which the story emerges, is the wealthiest and most repulsive of them all, a tycoon and reputed genius who doesn’t appear to do much except self-mythologize and use his money to bully people
around.

He owes a lot to Elon Musk, but all of these eroding foundations of modern society are meant to feel at least a little familiar. Glass Onion is larger and much better organised than Knives Out, but what makes it a more enjoyable film is that it spends more time with its characters rather than showing off their rot right away.

Instead, they have the hollowness that comes from a lifetime of little moral choices, culminating in a trip to a Greek island with some old acquaintances and discussing how the murder has to be planned.

Glass Onion

Obviously, there is a murder, though it occurs later rather than earlier in the film, as tensions build during an annual gathering on Miles’s private Greek island, where he’s built a delightfully hideous mansion complete with a see-through dome filled with billionaire bachelor pad décor—a douchebag Taj Mahal.

Miles plans to hold a murder mystery party this year, but he has two surprise guests. Andi (Janelle Monáe), his former business partner who unsuccessfully sued him after he fired her, was not expected to appear. And although Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), the master detective from Knives Out, wasn’t invited, he ended up receiving one of the special puzzle boxes. Miles had sent out to his chosen guests.

Craig’s obvious joy in playing Blanc is infectious, with his neckerchiefs and Southernfried dialect, while Glass Onion’s longer wind-up provides peeks into the character’s personal life, including some random but delightful cameos.

Johnson lets events unfold until a critical party sequence, which is rendered shaky by its slightly too fast editing, and then returns us to the beginning, revisiting situations from multiple perspectives and with unexpected data that adds to the mystery of the theme.

Glass Onion

Glass Onion is a movie that takes place at the beginning of the pandemic without seeming completely engulfed by it, despite the fact that it’s carefully crafted and situated in a lavish Mediterranean location.

Instead, COVID provides a setting as well as the inspiration for several important character traits, such as the iconic picture that Miles was able to borrow from a museum or Birdie’s preference for a pointless mesh face mask. Because so many of us were merely sitting at home, feeling frightened, alone, and incredibly bored, movies set during the early stages of our global familiarity with the novel coronavirus have a tendency to make us feel the same.

Even those who felt themselves to be nominally more responsible don’t seem like the kind of characters who would feel like they would be bound by those same norms under Glass Onion. In essence, they are building a pod in a very short, high-end version before launching immediately into the dramas that accompany the collapse of so many similar groupings.

Glass Onion’s critique takes into account the fallacies of the characters, who are of a suspicious nature. The very nature of rogues weaves the fabric that maintains the interest of viewers. This is in contrast to Knives Out, whose politics bordered on the self-congratulatory.

You miss the traditional building of a mystery (Agatha Christie-esque) in Knives Out, despite the ensemble cast and tale keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire time. The unsettling tension between people and their concealed motivations is released by Glass Onion’s increased aim to be a satire on Musk and social media.

Knives Out has excellent drama, storyline, and character development. Although Glass Onion isn’t as elaborate or difficult, it is undoubtedly twisting and fun to watch.

Johnson is a popular storyteller known for his excellent weaving of the theme that is not only entertaining but also satiric in the treatment of his characters. which is why Glass Onion is so entertaining.

Who will do what, and into what shades he has submerged his characters, are both unknown. A Knives Out Mystery, Glass Onion The story has layers of colour and many delightful surprises up its sleeve, just like its title suggests. Knives Out is
undoubtedly the one franchise I want to see continue with further chapters.

Pros

  • Excellent dialogue
  • Fantastic performances
  • Incredibly of-the-moment
  • Very rewatchable

Cons

  • Doesn’t really hit the highs of the first one

As far as the camera is concerned, the GT Neo 3 has a triple rear camera system with a 50-megapixel sensor at the core and an 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter along with a 2-megapixel macro lens. In the front, you can find the 16-megapixel snapper.

The MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset is impressive and when combined with the Realme advanced cooling system and software optimization, the GT Neo 3 150W editions simply fly in performance no matter what you do including heavy gaming. The Realme UI 3.0 based on top Android 12 is very fast and smooth all the time.

You can find a lot of features and customization options in the UI, where you can choose from a few always-on display designs, customisable icons, quick settings and a menu to choose from.

Overall, the Realme GT Neo 3 150W variant is a lot more about speed than performance. The race car-inspired design, the 150W charging system, the 120Hz refresh rate display along with a powerful processor, all promise a faster performance.

Therefore, we have compiled a list of the top Xbox Series X games available right now. Even this list is just a sample of the many excellent games available, so you can anticipate many more titles and exclusives for the platform in the upcoming months and years.

Best Xbox Series X Games

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

This combat mission game has 400 achievements and over 4000 gamerscore, so you can have the ultimate Halo experience.

Assassins Creed: Valhalla

Thanks to Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, the next generation of gaming consoles got off to the biggest possible start. On November 10, it debuted alongside the Xbox Series X. Due to its abundance of features, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla has a lot to offer.

The game offers a lot for players to get their teeth into, whether it’s creating a settlement, finding organic tasks all over the place, or creating the ideal raiding machine. Running at 4K and a stable 60 frames per second, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla looks quite unlike any other game in the series that has come before it.

Not only does it feel incredibly smooth and look stunning, but it also has mercilessly quick load times, ensuring that your journey through the Dark Ages of England in the 9th century is peaceful and demonstrating that the series is poised to expand its tried-and-true formula on the power of new hardware.

Xbox Series

Hitman 3

Hitman 3 is a stealth series with dramatic conclusions, and trust me on this, you are going to love the game. Agent 47’s latest adventure also happens to be his greatest. With his global journey now taking him to new locations like Dubai and the UK’s Dartmoor, the game
offers huge scope and inventiveness that bring each level to life.

Hitman 3 isn’t the kind of sequel that reinvents the series, but it’s very likely to satisfy you if you’ve previously enjoyed these games and are satisfied with minor tweaks rather than a drastic overhaul.

The stealth action game introduced an ingenious puzzle element to the long-running series, allowing players to find creative and outrageous ways to take out targets. The game levels are improved now, offering sprawling sandboxes filled with challenges and surprises.

The Dartmoor level is especially noticeable because of its murder mystery, which brings a classic murder movie setup to the game. Hitman 3 serves as the base for all three games. Its menu screen allows you to play every previous level in the trilogy.

Forza Horizon 5

Nearly flawlessly straddling the line between a racing simulator and an arcade-style “pick up and play” game is the racing game genre of Forza Horizon. With its newest instalment, Forza Horizon 5, the open-world racer displays some of the most exquisite locations and
vehicles ever seen on a console in Mexico.

Seriously, the beauty of this game alone makes it worth the purchase. It almost seems unbelievable that you also get the best racing game ever made on top of that. The game features hours of content to race through and runs buttery smooth at either 30 or 60 fps, depending on what settings you desire.

Xbox Series

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

The Yakuza franchise from Sega has been growing for a while. Just in time for Yakuza: Like a Dragon to welcome in the next-generation of consoles, the niche game has steadily grown in prominence in recent years.

Thanks to strong critical acclaim that made it one of the most talked-about launch games for the next generation, what was once a strange outlier is now an ace in the hole for Microsoft. In contrast to earlier Yakuza games, Like a Dragon substitutes turn-based fighting with beat-’em-up action.

Four characters are assembled into a party by the player, who can clash together in battle and take advantage of the surroundings. Even if the franchise’s central idea is new, the game’s sidequests and random missions nevertheless maintain their usual craziness. Like a Dragon is the ideal starting point for gamers who have never played a Yakuza game before and opens a new era for the series.

What Were the Biggest Streaming Flops of 2022?

0
Biggest Flops of 2022

2022 was a year of major streaming releases across platforms be it Netflix, Display Plus, or Prime Videos. Content poured in with some hits and many, many flops. The percentage of content that gets released on these streaming platforms versus the percentage of content that actually gets some noticeable viewers is not very pleasing.

Some streaming releases couldn’t even generate the right buzz for anyone to care about their release, which shouldn’t be surprising considering the high volume of content that gets added to streaming libraries every month.

Then there are OTT releases such as the Gray Man, Blonde, The Bubble and more that had the perfect buzz but failed to leave any impact upon release. In this article, we are looking at some of the biggest streaming flops of 2022. So, let’s get started.

What Were The Biggest Flops of 2022?

Blonde

Blonde

The second adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’s 2000 biographical fiction novel of the same name, Blonde is basically another mean attempt to sensationalise and exploit the life of iconic American actress Marilyn Monroe.

With Ana de Armas essaying the role of Hollywood’s top-billed actress in the 1950s and 60s, Blonde had caught the attention of cinephiles right from the announcement. Though the film soon faded away after generating a week-long chatter on online communities without leaving any substantial pop culture footprint.

Biggest Flops of 2022

The Gray Man

Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas – a star cast that should have ended all. On top of that, you had the Russo Brothers with an interesting spy thriller premise. Fans were expecting a high-octane popcorn entertainer but had to settle with a bland trying-hard-to-be-an-actioner instead.

The Gray Man received mixed to negative reviews upon release, though it also managed to gather some support amongst cinephiles on Twitter and Reddit.

The Bubble

The Bubble

It is still too early for Covid jokes but of course, Judd Apatow and crew at Netflix didn’t get that memo and decided to tell this story of pandemic lockdown days that no one asked for. The Bubble, quite aptly named, turned out to be just a bubble that burst right on arrival.

The plot of this Netflix original revolved around the film shoot of a blockbuster franchise while quarantining in a hotel, primarily using greenscreens. What was supposed to be a situational comedy seemed rather unfunny and insensitive for the time. A 21% Tomatometer reading on Rotton Tomatoes tells the rest of the story.

Biggest Flops of 2022

Pinocchio

Filmmakers have to stop remaking classics without any solid purpose in mind. These rehashed half-baked version of stories we all already are in love with isn’t working for anyone, especially not for them. Pinocchio, not the Pinocchio film on Netflix from Guillermo del Toro, but the one that has the legendary Tom Hanks as Geppetto arrived almost dead on Disney Plus this year.

The “live-action” film had nothing working in its favour and was immediately panned by both critics and audiences likewise. The Robert Zemeckis directorial received 27% on the Tomatometer and 29% Audience Score on Rotton Tomatoes.

Biggest Flops of 2022

Deep Water

With the kind of popularity Ana De Armas enjoys online, it’s hard to believe that she makes an appearance on this list of 2022 streaming duds three times. In Deep Water, Armas is sharing screen space with Ben Affleck in an erotic thriller directed by Adrian Lyne, the well-known erotic thriller master.

The film tries hard to be dark and exciting failing miserably to be both. Deep Water has to settle with 36% on Tomatometer and 24% on the Audience Score in Rotton Tomatoes’ ratings.
