Poco has unveiled its first true wireless earbuds, dubbed Poco Pods, for the Indian market.
The earbuds will go on sale on July 29 for an introductory price of Rs 1,199 against an MRP of Rs 2,999. Similar to other Poco smartphones, the Poco Pods will go on sale on Flipkart.

The company sells a range of smartphones under Rs 20,000 in the country, hence the new earbuds are also targeted towards budget-focused customers.

The new earbuds will also be useful for Poco F4 users as the smartphone comes without an audio jack for wired earphones.

Poco Pods

Ahead of the official launch, the Poco Pods‘ official Flipkart page is live. The page reveals the design and the earbuds don the company’s distinct black and yellow colours.

Additionally, the earbuds have a relatively long stem and silicone earbuds — borrowing the design from Apple AirPods Pro. The charging case features an egg-shaped design, with the Poco branding in yellow at the front.

In terms of features, the earbuds support the standard SBC Bluetooth codec, primarily designed for Android smartphone users. However, iPhone users can also connect the earbuds via Bluetooth.

Poco claims the earbuds will provide 30 hours of music playback with the charging case. The wireless range is set at 10 meters from the source.
The charging time is set at 1.5 hours, though it remains unclear whether the case includes a USB-C port or a micro USB port.

Poco claims the Poco Pods earbuds are sweat proof and offer “deep bass.” The earbuds also come with built-in microphones for calls. However, they are quite no-frills in terms of features to maintain a competitive price.

It means users won’t have access to features like active noise cancellation and transparency mode, which are becoming common in earbuds under Rs 5,000. Nevertheless, given the in-ear design of the Poco Pods, users can expect a certain degree of noise cancellation.

Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO has officially launched its first true wireless earbuds, the POCO Pods in India today.

The POCO Pods comes equipped with a 12mm driver which offers fine-tuned and accurate bass performance. POCO claims that these earbuds deliver impressive rich, clear, and precise sound quality.

The earbuds feature a similar design as that of Apple’s AirPods, and they have a stem and silicon ear tips. They also have environmental noise cancellation (ENC) support, which allows users to enjoy crystal-clear audio and uninterrupted calls without external interference.

Furthermore, these new earbuds also have an IPX4 rating for splash resistance, which also provides durability and reliability during intense workout sessions.

These earbuds have support for SBC codec, Bluetooth v5.3 LE, and Google Fast Pair support as well which enables users to connect with their devices seamlessly in just a single tap.

The earbuds also have a low latency of up to 60ms as well as touch controls through which users can control the music and calls.

Additionally, by tapping the Pods twice, the user can play/pause the music and answer the call. Also by tapping thrice, users can skip the next track or reject a call.
As for the battery life, POCO claims that the POCO Pods can last for 30 hours on a single charge.

Additionally, with fast charging of up to 10 minutes, the earbuds can provide an additional 90 minutes of listening time. The earbuds can be charged to 100% in about 1.5 hours.

If the company implements account sharing, some people will need to buy their own subscriptions with new restrictions in place said the sources.

The company had detected internally that only around 5% of its premium subscribers logged in from more than four devices.
Furthermore, the second source also added that the planned restriction will also apply to its cheaper plan which will limit usage across two devices.

Data obtained from research firm Media Partners Asia revealed that Disney’s Hotstar topped India’s streaming market between January 2022 and March 2023 which secured a 38% share of viewership, whereas rivals Netflix and Prime Video held 5% each.

* Madhav Sheth is likely to be the CEO of Honor in India.
* Honor, the Chinese smartphone brand, is making a comeback in the Indian market with a new phone called the Honor 90.
* Former Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth is rumored to be leading Honor in India, with employees from Realme already joining the company.
* The Honor 90 is expected to be unveiled in September and will likely have similar specifications to the global variant, including various color options.

Honor used to have a market presence in the Indian smartphone market, but it hasn’t launched a new phone in the country in recent years.

However, there are recent reports that the company is planning a comeback, with Realme’s Madhav Sheth as the head of its Indian operations.

The Honor 90 is rumored to be the first device to debut in the country after years, and a new report claims it will be unveiled in mid-September with a price tag under Rs. 50,000.

Honor is preparing to re-enter the Indian market after a long period. The company left India after the US banned Huawei from using Google services.
Later, Honor was separated from its parent company. Another Chinese technology company bought the company.

Recently, Honor has filed a trademark in India for Honor for Knights with Madhav Sheth as proprietor.
A separate report claimed that many employees also left Realme to join Honor. A recent report tipped that Honor is trying to re-enter the Indian market with its Honor 90 series smartphones.

A YouTuber had tipped the launch timeline and revealed the specifications of the upcoming device. A new report from IANS has tipped the price range of the upcoming device.

IANS reports Honor 90 will be unveiled in the first half of September.
The news agency did not reveal the exact date but claimed the Honor 90 will be priced in India at around Rs 45,000.

If true, Honor 90 will have to face cut-throat competition as this category is already filled with impressive phones like OnePlus 11R, Oppo Reno 10 Pro, and even the flashy Nothing Phone (2).

Honor 90 is already available for purchase in Europe with a starting price of €550. It brings notable features like a big 6.7” AMOLED display with 1200p resolution and 66W charging support for the 5,000mAh battery.

Of course, there are other factors that drive sales, such as extensive ad campaigns and influencer collaborations.
Honor’s return to India could be great news for consumers, as they will have more options to choose from.

WhatsApp explains video messages are a “fun” way of communication and help people connect better, similar to voice notes.

Since the duration has to be 60 seconds, users have to share to-the-point messages, which many users would appreciate. The feature is similar to Snapchat’s instant video messages, though those are ephemeral messages that automatically get deleted once opened.

In a blog post, Meta states that video messages are a “real-time way” to respond to chats with whatever you want to say and show in 60 seconds.

WhatsApp Video Message Update

The post adds, “We think these will be a fun way to share moments with all the emotion that comes from video, whether it’s wishing someone a happy birthday, laughing at a joke, or bringing good news.”

Video messages are now coming to WhatsApp. Just like voice messages, you will soon be able to send video messages on WhatsApp.

As the name suggests, you will be able to record video messages on WhatsApp and send it quickly. This feature has started rolling out, and it will be available to all users in the coming weeks, WhatsApp announced.

Once the feature is available, the usage is simple. It will sit with the voice note button on the chat tray.

The user will need to tap to switch to video mode and hold the record button. Users can also swipe up to lock and record the video hands-free — similar to how voice notes work.

Videos will play automatically on mute when opened in a chat, and tapping on the video will start the sound. WhatsApp notes video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption to keep your messages secure.

WhatsApp Update

While WhatsApp lets users record and send videos with a dedicated in-app camera, the video messages feature brings a fresh look that may appeal to many users.

Unlike voice notes, video messages do not get playback speed, which may irk some users. WhatsApp lets users adjust the playback speed of voice notes, which makes it fun and convenient in a fast-paced world.
With no playback speed option for videos, users may also find the feature inconvenient.

WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart is also using the opportunity to share the update on WhatsApp’s sister platform, Threads — Meta’s Twitter alternate.

In a post, Cathcart writes, “We are adding instant video messages to WhatsApp. Voice messages are incredibly popular, and this builds on that: record and send a short video, all within a chat.”

Mark Zuckerberg also posted about the feature on Facebook and offered a demo. Video messages can work on both one-on-one chats and group chats.

Video Messages on WhatsApp

WhatsApp already has an in-app camera so you can still record videos and send them within the app. But the idea behind video messages is to send “instant video messages” on WhatsApp.

You will be able to record and send 60-second videos on WhatsApp, and it will be as easy as sending voice messages.

How to Send Video Messages on WhatsApp

How to Send Video Messages on WhatsApp

Sending a video message is as simple as sending a voice message. When in a chat, users can easily switch to video mode with a single tap and hold the record button to capture their personalized video message.
WhatsApp will also users to swipe up to lock and record hands-free videos.

Availability of new Video Messages Feature
The rollout of video messages has already begun, and users around the world can expect to see this feature in their WhatsApp app in the coming weeks.

If you want to send a video message, you will just have to tap on the microphone button to switch to the video button.

You can then press and hold to record a video message.
You can also swipe up to lock the screen and record the video hands-free.

Whenever you receive a video message, it will play on mute but you can tap on it for the audio.

New Video Messages Feature

Using the new Video Messages Feature is a simple process. Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1 – Open the Whatsapp App.
Step 2 – Open the chat of your preferred person or group where you want to send instant video messages.
Step 3 – You can see a microphone icon right next to the text section, in the bottom right corner, tap that icon to switch to video mode.
Step 4 – Record the video by holding that icon or you can swipe up to lock the record button so that you don’t have to keep holding it.
Step 5 – After recording the video either leave the hold button to send or click on send if the recording button is locked.

WhatsApp says that video messages like any other content on the app are end-to-end encrypted.

You will also be able to react to the video messages with different emoji, and reply to them individually. Mark Zuckerberg announced the new feature yesterday on the Meta Channel on Instagram.

Since the feature has just started rolling out, it will take a few weeks to reach all users on both Android and iOS.

Faqs

1) Meta’s Q2 Results And Push in the Field of AI.Details ?

Ans) The announcement about the new feature comes at heels of Meta’s Q2 results which have shown promising growth. Meta has managed to beat expectations for the second quarter in a row.

The growth in Meta’s revenue has been attributed to better advertising reach thanks to AI as well as Instagram Reels. Meta’s near future roadmap includes the release of Llama 2, Threads, Reels, new AI products, and the highly anticipated launch of Quest 3 in the fall.

2) How to send a video message on WhatsApp?

Ans) To send a video message on WhatsApp, switch to video mode and then hold to record the video. To go hands free, simply lock and record the video by swiping up.
If you receive a video message in a WhatsApp chat, it’ll automatically play on mute until you tap the display to start the audio.

Meta said that the video message feature has already started to roll out and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks, so be patient if you’re not seeing it yet.
The latest upgrade comes just a couple of months after WhatsApp added another feature allowing users to edit messages. The much-desired feature means you can quickly correct an annoying typo or rephrase something to make it read better, though it has to be done within 15 minutes of hitting the send button.

Before that, the only way to edit a WhatsApp message was by going through the somewhat laborious process of deleting it before repeating the compose and send process.

OnePlus Nord 3 Review: A Breath Of Fresh Air In A Crowded Segment

0

Hightlights

  • The OnePlus Nord 3 5G impresses with its excellent AMOLED display, robust performance with MediaTek Dimensity 9000, and efficient 80W fast charging
  • It features a capable 50MP primary camera with OIS support that delivers nuanced and vibrant shots
  • The Nord 3’s 5000mAh battery promises reliable performance with a full day’s power backup on a single charge
  • The device also has a stereo speaker setup, an IR blaster and 5G support

The OnePlus Nord 3 has been available in the Indian market for a few weeks now and it comes with a starting price of Rs 33,999.
This marks a notable shift from the earlier Nord series, which primarily targeted the lower mid-range segment.

However, that is not say that the Nord 3 doesn’t pack a punch. A quick look at the specifications reaffirms the impression that this device is a strong competitor in the Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 price range.

Even so, the handset does have to contend with several competitive offerings from the likes of Moto, iQOO and more.
Does the OnePlus Nord 3 have what it takes? We got to test out the OnePlus Nord 3 for a while and here is what we thought of it.

OnePlus Nord 3: Pricing and Availability

OnePlus Nord 3: Pricing

The OnePlus Nord 3 5G, launched on July 5, 2023, is priced currently Rs. 33,999 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

A second variant offers 16GB RAM and 256GB storage which costs Rs 37,999. Sales have already started as of July 15, 2023, through select online retailers, including the OnePlus official website.

The OnePlus Nord 3 5G is available in two colours – Misty Green and Tempest Gray.

OnePlus Nord 3 Pros and Cons

Pros Cons
Excellent display Ultra-wide and macro sensors could be improved
Primary camera is very capable Low light photography can improve
Battery life is decent, and charging is fast
Design language is quite good

OnePlus Nord 3: Unboxing

Opening the commercially available box for the OnePlus Nord 3 you find the usual accessories packed inside.

A separate compartment inside the box houses a black silicone case which adds a measure of durability to the Nord 3’s exterior.

Apart from that you also get a standard silver SIM ejector tool and the regular paperwork which includes warranty and operating manual.

OnePlus Nord 3: Unboxing

However, there are also some Nord branded stickers that look quite funky.

The phone itself sits below this compartment, wrapped in a translucent material. Finally, the signature OnePlus red charging capable is present at the extreme bottom along with the 80W white charger.

OnePlus Nord 3: Design

OnePlus Nord 3: Design

The OnePlus Nord 3 largely retains its familiar modern design, evolved from the second-generation lineup. While the Sandstone finish seen on last year’s Nord 2T would have been a welcome touch, the matte-glass finish of the Nord 3 is by no means lacklustre.

In fact, the Tempest Grey variant, which we have in hand, feels more refined than the glossy Misty Green variant, thanks to its ability to resist fingerprints and smudges. Other standout features on the device include two prominent camera rings, enclosing the triple-camera setup of the Nord 3.

There are two LED flash modules for reasons not entirely clear, as only one appears functional during testing. We were told this was more for design than function.

However, the addition of an IR blaster on top of the device, enabling it to act as a universal remote, certainly adds functional value.

Apart from that the phone imbibes most of what the Nord series is known for, in terms of in-hand feel. The Nord 3 is quite light in our hand and has moderate thickness levels that will trouble very few people, if any.

We are also happy to see that the signature OnePlus alert slider has been retained on the side and is as useful as it was 10 years ago, when it debuted on the OnePlus 1.
The rest of the phone is quite standard in appearance with a stereo speaker flanking the phone’s top and bottom.

There’s also the USB Type-C slot, again pretty standard and a volume rocker bar and power button on the left and right respectively.

OnePlus Nord 3: Display

OnePlus Nord 3: Display

The Nord 3’s display notably impressed us with its nearly edge-to-edge screen, with bezels minimized to the utmost, presenting a symmetric appeal all around. The display resolution stands at FHD+ (2772×1240), albeit OnePlus brands it as 1.5K.

Importantly, the panel retains the expected sharpness and vibrancy in visuals. Thanks to the 10-bit depth of the panel, the colour reproduction is vivid, with customisability offered in the settings.

As for the refresh rate, the display gets an upgrade to 120Hz, up from 90Hz, with an intelligent capability to reduce to 40Hz for battery preservation when needed.
The device also boasts an HDR10+ certification, ensuring superior dynamic range for compatible content on OTT platforms.

The display can achieve brightness levels of up to approximately 1,450nits, which should suffice for use in even the brightest outdoor conditions.
Lastly, the punch-hole camera has been minimized, further maximizing the expansive screen real estate.

OnePlus Nord 3: Cameras

OnePlus Nord 3: Cameras

The OnePlus Nord 3 introduces, what we believe to be the best camera sensor to grace a Nord series phone. Primary image taking responsibilities lie with Sony IMX890 50MP shooter which also has OIS support.

There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro shooters that act as the supporting cast. Finally you have a 16MP selfie camera which is housed in the punch-hole up top.

Talking first about the star of this camera show, the primary shooter, images snapped from it are very refined, at least for a smartphone that sells under Rs 40,000.

There is a healthy dynamic range on offer that the sensor plays around with in post-processing, giving the final shot a very nuanced feel. Focusing speeds are sharp and with OIS, minor shakes while shooting are negated.

Colour-wise the output feels a bit saturated but that could play in the hands of users who post often on Instagram. Sharpness levels are metered across the frame with the focus lock helping a lot in this respect.

We also like how good the sensor is with close-up shots and how it generates a very natural bokeh in the background.

When it comes to the ultra-wide camera, there isn’t much novelty as the sensor has been employed in multiple other devices. It manages to do a sub-par job in terms of colour temperature consistency with the primary sensor.

The level of detail it provides could be deemed below acceptable. The macro capability, too, isn’t particularly refined, largely attributed to the lower-resolution sensor. Images captured using macro shooter can be challenging to focus and often exhibit subpar colour output.

In the videography department, the device can record up to 4K video at 60fps, with an additional option for capturing 1080p HDR videos at 30fps. We feel the phone’s video making skills are on par, if not better, with the competition.

The device’s performance in low-light photography tends to vary. Images leveraging some surrounding ambient light generally turn out well, while in darker conditions, the overprocessing to minimise noise results can output blurred details.

The dedicated Night mode does not do much to remedy this situation. Lens flare is also an issue we encountered from time to time.
The 16MP selfie shooter is nothing out of the ordinary and captures skin tones to a high degree of realism without oversharpening facial features.

In terms of the overall camera quality, the photos captured are good enough, but it would seem that low light imagery is one area that OnePlus can devote some more time to.

When it comes to performance, the OnePlus Nord 3 5G makes use of MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 SoC, a flagship chipset from last year. Despite its age, this chipset excels in handling daily tasks effortlessly.

This includes seamless switching between multiple resource-intensive applications. We also tested the Nord 3 5G’s capabilities with demanding mobile games such as BGMI and Asphalt 9: Legends.

The device managed these games effectively, with BGMI particularly standing out, achieving a consistent 60fps at HDR graphics.

Our review unit features 16GB of snappy LPDDR5X RAM and thanks to it app memory retention was impressive. Apps resumed from the exact spot where they were left off.

However, extremely big apps, like the aforementioned BGMI, need to reload if you return to them after some time. Extended gaming sessions can lead to some amount of heating, but it didn’t raise any concerns.

Apart from this, for memory needs you have up to 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage. The phone also performs well under load with the CPU Throttle benchmark showing the device operating at 76 percent of its peak capacity for a 15-minute test

In terms of benchmark performance, the Nord 3 5G achieved a score of 931,780 on AnTuTu (v10), which is slightly less than certain more affordable phones equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

On Geekbench 6, it managed to rack up 1,029 points in the single-core test and 3,443 points in the multi-core test.

OnePlus Nord 3: Software and Features

OnePlus Nord 3: Software and Features

The OnePlus Nord 3 5G runs on Oxygen OS 13.1, based on Android 13. The skin offers a variety of customisation and personalisation possibilities.  Not just wallpapers and themes, it lets you modify icon shape, size, and fonts.

Supporting Android’s Material, You theme, Oxygen OS 13.1 harmonises the system and UI colours with your wallpaper. The drop-down menu and the settings interface are also easy to navigate around.

However, the entire interface resembles quite a lot with OPPO’s own and you can say that although, OnePlus is calling its UI as OxygenOS, but, it is very much a replica of OPPO’s ColorOS.

Apart from that the phone has an IR blaster, a novelty not offered on many devices. It worked well via the IR Remote app on the phone but to get it work with any compatible electronic appliance is a laborious task.

The audio quality emanating from the Nord 3’s stereo speaker setup is also more than acceptable. The OnePlus Nord 3’s call quality, 5G capability and microphone did not pose any issues.

The Nord 3 5G also has several OnePlus and Oppo apps preinstalled, including OnePlus Store, O Relax Zen, Clone Phone, Space Community, among others.

The device does come with a minimal number of third-party apps, which include Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Spotify, but all of these can be uninstalled. Apart from that the interface remains relatively clean.

OnePlus Nord 3: Battery and Charging

OnePlus Nord 3: Battery and Charging

When it comes to battery performance, the OnePlus Nord 3 5G’s 5,000mAh cell is good enough to give a day-long power backup on a single charge.

We managed to have about seven hours of screen-on time during moderate usage days. When used for excessive media consumption and even gaming, this time dropped to about six hours.

We think this is more than acceptable battery life for this price segment. The phone also comes with a 80W Super VOOC charger that can juice up the phone completely in about 40 minutes.

OnePlus Nord 3: Verdict

OnePlus Nord 3: Verdict

In conclusion, the OnePlus Nord 3 appears to be a robust offering for its price point. Its design and display quality are exceptional and can even be classified as flagship-tier.

When it comes to optical performance, the Nord 3’s main camera delivers satisfactory shots under various lighting conditions, although the ultra-wide and macro lenses could use some improvements.

Performance-wise, it should suffice for most users, but for heavy gamers, a device with the 8 + Gen 1 might be a better fit.

The battery life is acceptable, as are the charging speeds. OnePlus has clearly put in significant effort to deliver a superior smartphone experience, and it largely succeeds in doing so.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Live Image Revealed, seen on Wireless Power Consortium Website: Official Launch Confirmed

0

HIGHLIGHTS

* Samsung Galaxy S23 Fan Edition has been officially confirmed.
* It is expected to launch soon before the end of this year .
* Its live image has appeared through WPC certification.
* Samsung Galaxy S23 FE bears the model number SM-S711U.
* The marketing name of the phone has been confirmed through the Wireless Power Consortium website.

Back in 2008, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Wireless Power Consortium was formed to promote the universal and widespread usage of a wireless charging standard among all types of phones.

That led to the creation of the Qi standard, which is a form of power transfer that most of the best wireless chargers are using today.

It seems like someone made a slight mistake on the Wireless Power Consortium website, however, as a listing for the all-but-confirmed Galaxy S23 FE has appeared.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has been confirmed to be in the works and is expected to debut later this year.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE 3C Certification

After appearing on China’s 3C certification and Geekbench, the upcoming Samsung phone appeared on the Wireless Power Consortium website this week.

This reveals Qi wireless charging support and it confirms the phone’s name and model number SM-S711U.

There is also an image of the phone in complete black but the design appears similar to the renders that leaked recently. Beyond this, the listing doesn’t give any information about the specifications.

Samsung launched the Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 smartphones yesterday, and now we all are waiting on the next big innovation of Samsung .

Next in line is S24 flagship series, but we are actually first the Galaxy S23 FE is expected to launch as it was certified by WPC (Wireless Power Consortium) with a live photo of its front panel.

WPC (Wireless Power Consortium)

Meanwhile Justin Hume, VP of Mobile at Samsung South Africa, spoke to Android Authority confirming the phone is “imminently coming”.

The executive admitted there is an FE-sized gap in the company’s portfolio between the Galaxy A54 and the Galaxy S23.

The phone is expected to have an Exynos 2200 chipset, although we also heard reports on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and we might see the phone with different chips in different markets.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Expected To Feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

In the listing, an image of what is presumed to be the Galaxy S23 FE is pictured (via Slashleaks).

The phone in the post matches what we’ve seen from previous leaked illustrations, too. As we noted before, it looks more like the Samsung Galaxy A54 line of phones than the flagship S23.

In addition, the page notes some of the S23 FE’s wireless charging info, much of which is the exact same as the rest of the S23 line of phones.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Launch Imminent

While the S23 FE utilizing the same Qi wireless charging standard was expected and assumed by consumers, it’s nice to see yet another bit of proof that an announcement of the S23 FE is imminent.

Just recently, in an interview done by Android Authority, Samsung’s vice president of mobile for Samsung South Africa Justin Hume said that there is an “FE-sized gap” between the Samsung Galaxy A54 G5 and the S23.

He also said that there was to be an “imminent” announcement made. We can presume that Hume is talking about the S23 FE, especially due to leaks like this Wireless Power Consortium posting.

Images suggested Samsung Galaxy S23 FE might match the body of the Galaxy A54 with a top-tier chipset, and since the phone is on its way, we will only have to wait for some more time to see it .

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE’s Confirmed

According to the publication, during an interview, Justin Hume, the vice president of mobile for Samsung South Africa, was asked about the gap between the Galaxy A54 5G and the Galaxy S23.

He responded by acknowledging that there is an FE-sized gap between the two models at present. However, he hinted at an upcoming announcement, suggesting that Samsung is planning to fill that gap soon.

Recent reports have revealed that Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S23 FE in the third quarter of this year in some markets. It is expected to arrive in other markets in the last quarter of this year and the first quarter of 2024.

Some leaks of the S23 FE say that the device will have a 50MP camera that matches what the main S23 has.

It is also rumored to use the Samsung-made Exynos 2200 CPU, which may be quite disappointing to potential buyers.

The rest of the S23 line uses Snapdragon processors worldwide, which have shown to be much faster than Samsung chipsets.

Regardless of what’s inside the S23 FE, it’s nice to see this type of phone return after the lack of a Fan Edition in the S22 line. It’s been over a year and a half since the S21 FE was released.

How soon the S23 FE’s release is depends on how quick the announcement is going to happen ,and that may be sooner than we think.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Specifications (Rumoured)

As per recent reports, the Galaxy S23 FE will come equipped with the Exynos 2200 chip. It is unclear whether Samsung plans to launch the S23 FE with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 onboard in other markets.

The device is expected to feature a 6.4-inch S-AMOLED display that offers an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
It will pack a 4,500mAh battery with 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

The Galaxy S23 FE will ship with 6GB / 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and One UI 5.1.1-based Android 13. It will have a 32-megapixel front camera and an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel triple camera unit on the back.

Xiaomi is all set for the launch of the Xiaomi 13T series smartphones such as the Xiaomi 13T and the Xiaomi 13T Pro. Both these devices are rumoured to debut in September.

For those unaware, the Chinese tech giant is gearing up to launch the 13T and 13T Pro smartphones. The latter is the higher-end model, which was spotted on the IMDA certification website carrying the model number 23078PND5G (Via TechOutlook).

This listing reveals that the device will support Bluetooth, WiFi, and NFC connectivity, which isn’t groundbreaking information. However, such a listing does hint that the Xiaomi 13T Pro’s launch isn’t too far off.

Just a couple of days ago, the UK pricing of the device and its launch date was leaked on Amazon. The smartphone would apparently cost around £799, which is about £100 higher than the £699 price tag of its predecessor.

Apart from this, another leak also hinted at some of its key specifications as well. The Xiaomi 13T Pro will reportedly be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC that will be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

The device will likely run on Android 13 OS based MIUI 4 out of the box as well. Under the hood, a large 5,000mAh battery pack is expected to power the device, which might support 120W fast charging as well.

So stick around for more as we will be offering updates when additional information is available regarding this device.

The IMDA certification of the upcoming smartphone indicates that the global launch of the smartphone is nearing. The listing reveals that the upcoming 13T Pro smartphone will bear the model number 23078PND5G.

Previously, the IMEI database listing had revealed the same model number for the forthcoming device. The IMDA certification also adds that the device will have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC connectivity.

The upcoming Xiaomi 13T Pro smartphone will likely be an affordable variant of the vanilla Xiaomi 13 Pro.
Amazon UK had accidentally listed the 12GB + 512GB variant for £799 (approx. Rs 83,400).
Xiaomi would also launch the smartphone in 12GB + 256GB configuration.

The Amazon listing also reveals that the brand will launch the device in a Meadow Green colour variant.
Xiaomi will continue the Leica partnership with the upcoming Xiaomi 13T series smartphones.

Amazon UK listing indicates that the device would have a leading 4nm processor. The smartphone could be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset.
The previous trends of Xiaomi ‘T” series smartphones indicate that the Pro version will likely be equipped with a Qualcomm chipset built on a 4nm process.

The Amazon listing also confirms that the device will be backed by a 5000 mAh battery which supports 120W fast charging tech. Xiaomi will equip the smartphone with a CrystalRes AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 144Hz.

The smartphone will run on MIUI 14 based on Android 13 out of the box. Tipster Snoopytech reveals that Xiaomi will launch the smartphone on September 2023.

The vanilla 13T smartphone is also tipped to launch alongside the 13T Pro smartphone in September 2023.
The vanilla model will likely feature a MediaTek Dimensity chipset built on a 4nm process. The chipset will pair with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The primary difference between both smartphones would be the chipset, configurations, and fast charging speeds. The device will be backed by a 5000 mAh battery with 67W fast charging support.

Xiaomi will likely price the smartphone at £599 (approx. Rs 62,470) for the 8GB + 256GB variant.

The Xiaomi 13T Pro is expected to come as a rebadged Redmi K60 Ultra. According to the leaked listing, the Xiaomi 13T Pro will launch with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of Internal Storage.
The listing suggests that the 13T Pro variant with 12GB and 512 GB will cost £799.

That’s £100 more than the 12T Pro, but there are a lot of factors to consider.
The Xiaomi 13T Pro will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and inflation has stroke the world in the past months, so smartphones are costing more than used to cost one year ago.

The phone will also sell in a 12GB/256GB trim which will cost less. The listing also confirms the launch date for September 1, with shipments starting on September 6.

The Amazon UK listing also revealed that the phone will launch in a Meadow Green color. It will come with a 144 HZ CrystalRes AMOLED screen and will get Leica tuning on the back. It will be the first T-series smartphone to employ Leica tuning.

In addition to that, the listing also suggests a 5,000 mAh battery with 67W fast charging.  Apparently, the phone won’t employ the 120W charging of the Redmi K60 Ultra.

The Xiaomi 13T Pro was teased with a “flagship 4nm processor”, which is believed to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The 13T Pro, on the other hand, will come with a “leading 4nm chipset”, which is rumored to be the Dimensity 9200. Both devices will run Android 13-based MIUI 14 straight out of the box.

There is a long road ahead until September 1. Therefore, we expect many more details to appear in the next weeks.
Xiaomi will also do its best to build the hype for its next flagship devices.

Indian Video Game makers write to PMO, Meity; request for clear distinction From Real Money Games

0

HIGHLIGHTS

* 45 Indian video game companies have written a joint letter to PMO Office to seek clarification from Real Money Games and Video games over 28% Online Gaming Tax.
* The letter stated that the lack of distinction has created the scope that that the decision to apply a 28% GST on real-money gambling will affect the whole gaming business in India.
* The GST Council will meet on 2 August via Video conference to take final decision on on the levy of 28 per cent GST on online gaming, casinos, and horse racing.

Amidst the ongoing outcry against the 28 per cent goods and services tax (GST) imposed on all online games, on Wednesday, as many as 45 video game companies in India, wrote to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, seeking a public clarification distinguishing between the real-money gaming industry and video games, to dispel “widespread confusion”, clubbing the two together and assuming that the high tax slab was applicable to the latter, when it is not.

The 28 per cent levy is on real money gaming industry, which consists of fantasy sports, poker and rummy among others where users can deposit money and compete with other users, a move that the industry widely criticised.

The generic termonline gaming”, used by the government as well as the real money gaming industry has triggered the confusion.

Indian video game
Indian video game

Video gaming companies including Outlier Games, SuperGaming, Firebolt Entertainment, Nodding Heads Games, Hitwicket, 99Games and GameEon Studios among others have now requested an audience with the government to discuss the issue and arrive at a distinction.

This has resulted in hesitation to invest in Indian video game companies and discouraged potential investments, co-productions, and strategic partnerships,” it further added.

It may be recalled that earlier this week, investors in online gaming also wrote a letter to the Prime Minister’s office, lobbying against the 28 per cent levy.

The video game companies are now calling for categorising games that involve wagering real money as ‘iGaming’, as is standard practice globally. “To sustain and further develop our industry’s growth trajectory and economic contributions, we emphasise the critical need for clear differentiation and categorisation of video games as separate entities from real money games and fantasy sports (iGaming) as it is done across the world,” the letter said.

“With every new law, comes some amount of misinterpretation,” said Tarun Hinduja, founder and director of Firebolt Entertainment, adding that clear distinction will boost the growing gaming industry.

Let me break the bubble – the Indian game industry is more than Real Money Games, and believe it or not, they are here to stay. No matter what they try to tell you on social media, your beloved games will not be taxed 28 per cent; that privilege is reserved for Real Money Games,” said Chirag Chopra, founder and CEO, Lucid Labs. “So, as long as you are not chasing the fake paradise, you can continue enjoying your Clash of Clans, Valorant, and PUBG,” he added.

About 50 video game developers have petitioned the government to clarify the policy distinctions between video games and real-money gaming and fantasy sports companies, The Economic Times (ET) reported on Thursday.

In a joint letter, developers, including Outlier Games, Dot9 Games, Lucid Labs, Newgen Gaming and SuperGaming, stated that media campaigns by the real money gaming industry “project a homogenous image and suggest that the entire games industry of India is adversely affected” by the proposed 28 per cent goods and service tax (GST) on online gaming.

The letter, sent to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the ministries of electronics & information technology (MeitY) and information & broadcasting, said, “Globally, irrespective of skill or chance, a clear distinction is drawn between games involving wagering (categorised as ‘iGaming’) and games without wagering (categorised as ‘video games’). Unfortunately, in India, these mutually exclusive categories have been consolidated under the common umbrella of ‘online games’.”

On July 11, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council decided to impose a 28 per cent tax on the turnover of online gaming companies, horse racing and casinos.

The panel, headed by the Union finance minister and comprising representatives of all states and UTs, decided on the tax rate based on the recommendation of a group of ministers that looked at taxing casinos, horse racing and online gaming.

The tax on online gaming firms would be imposed without making any distinction based on whether the games required skill or were based on chance. The council exempted those games that are played without stakes, which will attract a tax rate of 18 per cent.

A government official said that the GST Council would meet on August 2 to decide if the tax should be imposed only once on the total funds deposited to play an online game or each time a bet is placed – something the gaming industry fears will lead to repeated taxation.

Since Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the plan for the tax on July 11, the online gaming industry has asked the government to review the decision, which they say will increase the tax burden on both companies and consumers.

1) What the letter says ?

Ans) ET has reviewed the copy of the letter which has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office, the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY), and the ministry of information and broadcasting (I&B). “Globally, irrespective of skill or chance, a clear distinction is drawn between games involving wagering (categorised as ‘iGaming’) and games without wagering (categorised as ‘video games’). Unfortunately, in India, these mutually exclusive categories have been consolidated under the common umbrella of ‘online games’,” said the letter.

“…we wish to express our sincere appreciation to the GST Council, the Department of Revenue, and the Government of India for exempting Video Games from the recent 28% GST decision. Recognising that Video Games do not involve any form of wagering or staking, we are truly grateful for this thoughtful consideration, which acknowledges the diversity of business models within our industry,” the letter added.

Incidentally, this is not the first time that video game developers have sought this demarcation. The need to make clear differentiation has been there since quite some time and was also raised following the notification of online gaming rules issued by MeitY in April.

2) What is Real money gaming industry’s plea?

Ans) The real money gaming industry on its part claims that the GST Council’s decision of 28% tax could drive users away to illegitimate gambling and betting platforms. In addition, investors in these companies have also argued that the decision could lead to a potential write-off of the $2.5 billion capital invested in the sector.

The letter requests the Indian government to implement a distinct recognition of the games industry in India, and to avoid video games and e-sports from being clubbed with real money gaming and online fantasy sports.

3) What is a Video Game in India?

Ans) The letter’s signatories, which include Indian video game companies such as SuperGaming, Outlier Games, GameEon Studios, and others, have underlined that the newly announced 28% GST on online gaming does not apply to video games. “The Indian Video Games Industry (valued at $812 million — about Rs. 6,660 crore — as of 2022) has not been impacted by recent GST developments because these sectors continue to be taxed at 18 percent and will be assisted by the Indian government through the planned AVGC-XR Policy,” the game companies’ consortium said in a press release.

Furthermore, the signed letter to the PMO, MeitY, and the I&B Ministry demands a clear distinction between video games and real money gaming/ fantasy sports, noting false information methods that link the two. “While this assertion is objectively false, due to the usage of an overly broad term like ‘Online Games’ different industries are unjustly clubbed together, leading to widespread confusion. This confusion, in turn, fueled controversies and heated debates surrounding the imposition of 28 percent GST,” according to the letter.

As a result, video game companies have urged for games that involve wagering real money to be classified as ‘iGaming,’ as is typical practise internationally. “In order to sustain and further develop our industry’s growth trajectory and economic contributions, we emphasise the critical need for clear differentiation and categorization of Video Games as separate entities from Real Money Games and Fantasy Sports (iGaming),” the letter states.

The PR further adds that global market revenue of $184 billion excludes revenue from RMGs and Fantasy Sports. The letter also claims that the umbrella term “online gaming,” and its subsequent link with real money games, has left the Indian video game sector dealing with “unfair social stigma” and “clouded investor perception.”

While video games are not included in the new taxation policy, a 28 percent GST will be paid on fantasy cricket applications, which have grown in popularity in the country in recent years, as well as other fantasy and real-money games. These applications have also prompted worries among gamers about addiction, which might lead to financial harm if real money wagering is involved.

The VC area reaches 9140mm², the only 10,000-level VC in the industry, and is more than twice the mainstream specification of a single-chip VC in the industry.

Spatial structure

Tiangong cooling system is the world’s first aerospace-level space cooling structure, bringing the mobile phone cooling system to the era of three-dimensional cooling.

Through the innovation of space structure, OnePlus said that it has integrated dual-circulation heat dissipation system in a piece of VC.

The working water volume is doubled, which can absorb more heat; at the same time, the cavity volume of the gas-liquid circulation is doubled, from the traditional single-heat zone gasification to double-heat zone gasification; the heat source contact area is several times.

The substantial increase has increased the equivalent cooling cycle speed by 50%.
The Tiangong Cooling System is the first in the world to imitate the heat dissipation structure of the space rocket engine nozzle design, bringing the Laval airway on the space rocket into the mobile phone VC.

The dual-circulation design and the Laval air channel have raised the industry’s planar heat dissipation dimension to the space heat dissipation dimension, and the heat dissipation efficiency has been improved intergenerationally, and the heat conduction capacity has increased to 4 times that of the industry’s traditional VC.

This uses world’s first aerospace-grade diamond thermally conductive gel and aerospace-grade superconducting thermal graphite.

Compared with the previous generation, its thermal conductivity has increased by 60%. The new generation of aerospace-grade superconducting thermal graphite, compared with the heat-dissipating graphite currently commonly used in the industry, has a 41% increase in thermal conductivity.

The Tiangong cooling system can adapt to all scenarios, from daily use to heavy games, covering almost all usage scenarios of mobile phones, said the company.

It also posted a video demo. In the 1-minute and 3-minute tests of 6.5w (the power consumption of the phone when playing Genshin Impact in high settings), it is 8.5°C and 12.8°C ahead of its competitors, respectively.
In the 1-minute and 3-minute tests of 8W, we were 8.7°C and 14.4°C ahead of the competitors, said the company.

The Tiangong cooling system allows the performance of mobile phones to reach an unprecedented new height. It makes the ultimate gaming experience and a comprehensive and smooth performance experience possible, said OnePlus.
