  • Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi 5G models are compatible with Airtel 5G service
  • Mobile subscribers will get up to 600Mbps speed in 5G network
  • Reliance Jio is providing unlimited 5G data during the beta trial

In Brief

If there is one important buzz doing the rounds in the technological field, it is the 5G services, which was launched by PM Narendra Modi in the first week of October 2022 with much fanfare and publicity.

The launch received an extremely positive response from the general public, which is why Bharti Airtel also launched 5G services live in 8 cities on October 6, 2022, which has left many users excited at the prospect of living in the city that has been given the honour.

Bharti airtel

The cities in question are Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Siliguri, and Varanasi. However, consumers that are getting 5G services have to continue paying as per their existent 4G plan.

When it comes to telecom revolution in India, Airtel has been leading at the forefront since 1995, which makes it 27 years in the business and still continue going strong. Such a feat is not easy to accomplish, which is why Airtel is at the stature and position it is today due to continuously upgrading itself to cater to the new generation of users.

As of now, Bharti Airtel plans to give out the services as per the 4G plan because while Airtel subscribers getting 5G signals in their area can immediately shift to 5G services, they can also switch back to 4G if they feel that 5G is consuming a large amount of data.

Airtel’s 5G Plus Service are becoming quite popular all around and there are many 5G models that are compatible with them namely Apple, OPPO, Xiaomi, Samsung, OnePlus, Realme, among others.

5G Network will allow subscribers up to 600mbps speed during the initial launch phase as the handsets are expected to work at par with professional devices like PCs and laptops for data processing and gaining access to apps while Bharti Airtel’s rival, Reliance Jio, is providing unlimited 5G data during beta trial for a handful of consumers having 5G handsets.

Indian Flicks with Insane Visual Effects; Dime a Dozen

  • Indian Films
  • Visual Effects
  • Movie Benchmarks

What is it about movies that attract us the most? It is perhaps the most consistent in providing the entertainment quotient, along with sports, which is why they’re both so beloved all over the world.

In Brief

India is a large country where two things are worshipped beyond all and they both belong to the entertainment field- movies and cricket, and although things have changed considerably when it comes to hero-worshipping, there are many celebrity icons from both fields that continue to be revered like gods.

The Indian Film Industry has completed more than 110 years with the very first flick being released in 1913, which was called Raja Harishchandra, and Indian Cinema too, along with Hollywood and other film industries, has gradually evolved with each passing decade in terms of technology, visual effects, box office revenues, and a lot more.

Despite the tremendous achievement of Indian Films, it is still considered light years behind Hollywood in all departments but that is far from the truth because there have been many great luminaries in the film industry, be it actors, actresses, directors, stuntmen, etc. that are at par with the best that Hollywood has to offer.

If Hollywood had films like Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur, Indian Cinema had Mughal-E-Azam and Mayabazar, around the same time. Indian films, contrary to popular belief, stands at par with Hollywood/American Cinema, right from the beginning.

If there are certain genres and departments where Hollywood is better, there are also those genres and departments where Indian Cinema scores heavily. If there is one area where Indian Cinema needs improvement, it is the visual effects department, which is why it is considered 10 to 15 years behind Hollywood.

While it is true that Hollywood too has many films with bad VFX and CGI effects, Indian cinema’s list of duds is considerably high, despite the fact that the budget of both Hollywood and Indian films is quite vast.

It is true that in the times when the aforementioned films were made, there was no VFX or CGI in existence and these films had worked on the basis of practical effects instead of computer generated ones.

Hollywood has scored heavily in terms of VFX in their films via the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and other superhero films, but Indian Cinema is truly catching up in the visual department and 2022 alone had quite a few movies that heavily relied on VFX.

List of Films

Let’s take a look at some of the Indian movies that had the maximum number of VFX shots so as to showcase the potential of Indian Cinema in the past decade alone as many can give the best Hollywood superhero flicks a run for their money.

  • RRR– The biggest of the lot that has created a huge sensation in the western world that has been completely blown away by the phenomenon that is RRR and a big reason for it was its VFX, which had more than 2800 of them in the whole filmIndian VFX
  • Baahubali: The Beginning– The movie that started the pan-India revolution in the country had more than 4500 VFX shots that took the whole nation by stormBaahubali
  • Baahubali 2: The Conclusion– The perfect sequel to an already iconic film had around 2400 VFX shots, which is a little less than the previous film but the impact was just as bigIndian VFX
  • Brahmastra– The latest entrant in the list and the most recent one that came out in September 2022, that scores over all others in terms of VFX at more than 4500 shots, thereby paving way for two more sequels to complete the trilogyIndian VFX
  • Son of Sardar– A lesser film in terms of scale and budget of the above 4 but no less when it comes to VFX with more than 3900 shots in the entire filmSon of Sardar
  • Krrish 3– At 3500 VFX shots, the film has surpassed that its two prequels, Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish, in this field because it had more visual spectacles than the other two put togetherKrish 3
  • Syeraa Narasimha Reddy– Another Telugu language spectacle that scored heavily in terms of VFX with more than 3500 shots added to increase the excitement levelSyeraa Narasimha Reddy
  • Bigil– Although a typical Tamil mass entertainer, it had more than 3000 VFX shots to boast of that made this average flick get far more attention than it deservesBigil
  • 2.0– This one is a sequel to the 2010 release Enthiran/Robot that had Rajinikanth in the lead but this one had the added bonus of Akshay Kumar as the main villain and more than 2200 VFX shots2.0
  • Adipurush– The soon to be released Adipurush is being helmed by Om Raut, who also made Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior that met with massive acclaim, and even though its teaser is being bashed left, right, and centre for its cartoonish special effects and showing Ramayana in a bad light through its characters’ portrayals, the movie itself, apparently, boasts of more than 8000+ VFX shots, the highest for an Indian movie so farAdipurush

“Listen to your consumer, they know it better” says Sanmeet Singh Kochhar, Vice President- India & MENA, HMD Global

0
Sanmeet Singh

India is one of the biggest and key focus markets for HMD Global, with the biggest opportunity in the premium feature phone segment says, Sanmeet Singh Kochhar in an Interview with Divya Mohindroo, My Mobile India.

The electronics & smartphone industry is humongous and very cut throat in terms of competition, So we would love to know HMD Global’s perception towards this market.

  • Timing is the number one factor that determines if a relaunch will be successful; If your idea comes too early, customers may not be ready for it. However, if your idea comes too late, you may not be able to squeeze in front of a market crowded with competitors. You can’t ignore timing even though there’s no scientific process for determining it.
  • We have the longest standing and the most trusted mobile phone company felt somewhere lost in the clutter of the plethora of mobile phones available in the market. While brands are spending millions of marketing and PR moneys on staying ahead of competition, we chose to stay away from the rat race and rebuild the brand bottom up through its compelling offerings in the feature phones and budget smart phone segments.
    • People love Nokia phones for its ethos and the experience which we provide backed by loyal consumer base
    • Today we are sitting on a goldmine of loyalists who are nostalgic about Nokia phones and the experience which we provide through our devices

Can you please tell us, that what is the most prominent target segment, does HMD Global strike for while releasing it’s product and how does its accessories provide value to its customers.

  • Consumers who are buying their first smartphones or upgrading from their first smartphone, in the budget/affordable segment have tremendous potential in a market like India and our plan is to tap this opportunity with innovative products that are relevant to the usage and utility of the masses. HMD Global’s focus will be building portfolio in features and mid- budget segments smartphones. We put our customers first, which reflects in our customer centricity and service offerings and that is what makes Nokia phones very desirable and trustworthy.
  • Given the current consumer sentiment in India, the legacy of trust in a brand is as important for many consumers, as the value they derive from their phone.
  • Last year, Nokia mobiles was rated as #1 Most Trusted by Counterpoint Research across the three key parameters of build quality, software and security upgrades and Android Enterprise Recommended phones

India is a massive market with quite a dense niche for tech products, so we are very keen to know the HMD Global’s market experience in India so far, mostly in terms of competition, market penetration, and local business conditions of India?

In past 5-6 years since our entry into India, we’ve had a steady performance in the market. Globally also, bi. We’ve had a great experience so far with interesting launches across smartphones, feature phones and tablets. Our entry level Smartphones range the  Nokia C Series has been a great success in this category. We have also recently launched our second tablet in India in the budget segment in India. Though it is too early to tell,  but our  recently -launched tablet, Nokia T10 has also received phenomenal response so far.

We have been growing at a 41% YOY and we plan to maintain a similar pace going forward too, which is primarily going to be feature phone and mid- segment budget smartphones.

Singh Kochhar, Vice President- India & MENA, HMD Global

HMD Global is one of the big market players, in the industry, and we are very interested to know HMD Global’s insights on the biggest challenge and the biggest opportunity, that it considers while planning it’s business expansion in a market like India ?

Like I mentioned, India is a key market for us. We have been expanding considerably in India over the past few years with a diverse portfolio across smartphones, feature phones and now, tablets. One of the biggest opportunity for us is the premium feature phone segment. We recently launched, Nokia 2660 flip, Nokia 8210 4G and Nokia 5710 XpressAudio in this segment. All these feature phones are 4k+. They’ve had phenomenal performance in retail, and been very much appreciated by the media and our fans. Social media detox and reduced screen-times are increasingly becoming a focus in India, and people have started to prefer a simple modern feature phone as a secondary device. This is an opportunity we will continue to tap.

We also see much potential in the budget tablet segment. Our just-launched Nokia T10 has received a great response as well. We are also very keen on expanding our Make in India segment and exports, and we see much potential there.

Also the 5G launch in India is an exciting opportunity for us. We have bagged 102 contracts this year in India across 5G core, 5G radio, transport and visualisation of the core. We are very well positioned in India in terms of 5G, and will close more deals in the coming months.

In terms of challenges, India is indeed a competitive and highly-price sensitive market. We see this as an opportunity to push ourselves further to provide the best value across segments to our audience. We are committed to Made in India and all our feature phones, C series and G- series are made in India. In fact we have started exporting Nokia 105 from India and we are exploring opportunity for our other devices as we firmly believe Made in India, Made for the world.

What do you strike for while launching a new product, is it the quality or the price of the product, is it the combination of features & quality or the price & trend?

  • HMD believes in evolving with our customers. With the ever-changing demands of world, customers have cut down on luxury spending and focus on essentials. With the digital adoption the consumers are naturally progressing towards smartphones but feature phones continues to be a natural choice in the hinterland of the country.
  • HMD Global is committed to making quality technology accessible to everyone. And in a market like India, finding that fine balance between quality and price is key.
  • Our devices are known for their trusted quality and durability. We have tried to diversify our portfolio to cater to the diverse audiences in India so that we can provide the best deal in terms of price and quality for everyone.

Trends are changing very frequently, So what are your views in terms of this ever-changing non-lasting trend environment & do you take this as an opportunity or as a challenge ?

While trends are very fluid in nature, they are very interesting to understand the ever-changing consumer preferences. Hence, trends inherently can pose an opportunity and a challenge to manufacturers. While most trends die out without much impact, others leave a lasting change in the market dynamics. It’s therefore important to look at the larger picture in terms of trends.

At HMD Global, providing the best mobile experience across segments is our key focus. Our key focus is to provide durable technology with the best user experience, at the best price. And we will continue to do so diligently.

Singh Kochhar, Vice President- India & MENA, HMD Global

In such a competitive market, How do you set yourself apart from the rest of the competition ?

At HMD Global, our focus is to make quality technology accessible to everyone. Nokia phones are known for their quality and trusted durability. We offer 2 years of OS upgrades, and 3 years of security updates on our smart devices.

We have a diverse portfolio in India with a good mix of smartphones and feature phones, and recently, tablets. Our key focus is currently the budget segment, and we wish to provide the best value to our consumers here. Also, as mentioned, Make in India is a key focus for us. Our popular products, including the G series, C Series and features phones are all manufactured India. We are looking to expand the same to the entire range of devices

We have been growing at a 41% YOY and we plan to maintain a similar pace going forward too, which is primarily going to be feature phone and mid- segment budget phones.

So which platform works best for you in terms of sales, is it the online platform or the offline channels?

HMD global, the home of Nokia phones, has an Omni channel strategy in India. While we are catering to the online consumers we have a strong dealer network and we are present in over 100,000 counters in India and we are ase available on Nokia.com and other ecom sites.

India is a price-sensitive market, So how does HMD Global combat this challenge of providing a good quality product but keeping it inexpensive and affordable?

  • With rapid digital adoption, consumers are naturally progressing towards smartphones but feature phones continue to be a natural choice in the hinterland of the country.
  • Consumers who are buying their first smartphones or upgrading from their first smartphone, in the budget/affordable segment have tremendous potential in a market like India and our plan is to tap this opportunity with innovative products that are relevant to the usage and utility of the masses. HMD Global’s focus will be building portfolio in features and mid- budget segments smartphones
  • We put customers first which reflects in our customer centricity and service offerings and that is what makes Nokia phones desirable
  • Given the current consumer sentiment in India, the legacy of trust in a brand is as important for many consumers, as the value they derive from their phone
  • Last year, Nokia mobiles was rated as #1 Most Trusted by Counterpoint Research across the three key parameters of build quality, software and security upgrades and Android Enterprise Recommended phones.

Being a new and growing handset company, expansion of your reach is a must to develop a strong customer database, So, what is your ‘Growth Strategy’ regarding the same?

“Listen to your consumer, they know it better”

  • Mobile phones have become an integral part of our lives, almost an extension of our physique. So people know what they want from their phones.
  • And at HMD Global, we listen to the consumers to understand what they need from technology – Love, Trust and Keep.

In the end we would love to know, your honest opinion about the technology and electronics industry, current market conditions & upcoming trends globally !!

  • Features in phones: Faster charging, longer battery, camera, strong connectivity etc.
  • Utilities: Education, Entertainment are high engagement applications
Video consumption is peaking higher every quarter
  • Embracing 5G: There is a buzz in India towards the adoption and impact, given the launch tomorrow.
  • Last mile connectivity: Democratising information accessibility with broadband reach
  • Digitalisation: Emphasis on Digitalisation is a motivation for consumers.

How fond are you of Apple devices? Do you like their smartphones or laptops more? Do you love their AirPods or Beat headphones more?

Brief Summary

There are innumerable tech giants across the world that have reached a size and stature that is difficult to match for upcoming shots with Apple and Samsung leading the fray among others, which is a huge achievement as sustaining yourself for so long is no easy task.

Apple has achieved benchmarks of such level that very few can match up to its stature, which is why it can expand its wings even further in the tech industry and aim for higher skies.

But even in the tech world, sky is the limit and there are so many other accomplishments lying in wait that would be difficult even for Apple to complete. However, since India is one of the biggest markets for all tech giants across the globe, even Apple attempts to cater to the Indian audience in more ways than one at regular intervals.

The latest buzz doing the rounds is that Apple Inc. has instructed its suppliers to shift AirPods and Beats Production to India because Foxconn, Apple iPhone assembler, is all set to manufacture Beats headphones in the land of tropics.

Then, it aims to move even further with the production of AirPods and wants to capitalize on the billion plus population of India to cater to the tastes and needs of its people of different ethnic groups.

This will be a huge achievement for the central government as it will help encouraging local manufacturing, which has been encouraged by the Modi government since they came to power in 2014.

Apple will collaborate with Luxshare Precision Industry, which is a Chinese supplier to the company, and take its help in manufacturing AirPods in India. However, at the moment, Luxshare is preoccupied with on its Vietnames AirPod operations, which will take some time to begin production of the pods, thereby starting out slow in comparison to its rivals.

Apple has been consistently shifting certain areas of iPhone production away from China to India, along with other countries, beginning with the manufacturing of iPhone 13 models in the early part of 2022, and also hopes to begin iPad tablets in India as well.

Conclusion

It remains to be seen as to how successful this endeavour will be as Luxshare does not seem to be in a position to begin production any time soon but it goes without saying that, Apple AirPods and Beats Headphones will bring in a revolutionary change in terms of manufacturing devices in India.

Are you fond of music? What are your favourite brand of earbuds? Would you like to own the best model in town?

In Brief

No matter how old you become, there are many people that don’t lose the rebellious streak they have since childhood and they show it through their actions. Rebellious doesn’t meant to oppose anything or everyone just for the sake of it but to do what you feel like, as long as it is within ethical grounds, without feeling embarrassed.

Wings Phantom 550 Gaming Earbuds

We all have loved video games since childhood and why not? When you have the likes of Super Mario, Dangerous Dave, Contra, Swat Kats, Aladdin, and their ilk to look forward to, nobody can be safe from the spell cast by such games.

We all need to lead a stress free lifestyle to keep our physical and mental health intact, which, sadly, not many people take seriously and it has become a huge problem for many of them in both personal and professional life due to which they’re not able to handel the pressure that ultimately takes a toll on their health.

One of the best remedies for stress, since times of yore, is listening to music in order to keep your mind free of distress, which has been proven true many times. Music has different forms and facets that appeal to each person as to what kind of music they prefer to hear.

In this day and age, we have mobile games galore although those who grew up in the 90s and 2000s would never lose that rebellious streak they had and continue to play games on their PlayStations without any embarrassment of being mocked or ridiculed by the millennials.

With technological advancements taking place every decade or so, now we can even get earbuds that can enhance our gaming experience to a whole new level, which is why we are going to talk about a new model of earbuds that have just come out in the market.

Wings is one of the most prominent audio accessories we have in existence that has just come out with the brand new Phantom 550 Gaming TWS Earbuds in India, which has been receiving good reviews as of late especially among gaming aficionados.

Wings

My Opinion

To put it simply, Wings Phantom 550 has joined the long list of TWS Earbuds from various brands, which is on its way to join the illustrious list of its predecessors, thereby adding another feather to the already overcrowded cap of Wings.

The earbuds come in a purple and squared box, which is small as a fist but they look quite exquisite even in the design cover. The purple box has ‘WINGS PHANTOM 550 GAMING EARBUDS’ at the top with the buds in the case while the Wings logo is on the top right hand corner.

Below the logo, you will the features listed along with their symbols that users can avail upon trying it out. The box is light to hold in one hand that gives a strange feeling that cannot be put into words.

Upon opening it, you find a small cover in which the buds case is kept and is black in colour with ‘WINGS’ engraved in the front while the logo is right beneath it, which I opened and found the earbuds placed inside their respective slots.

The charging slot is right at the back that some might find difficulty locating initially because normally people expect its slot to be on the left or right side of the device but in this case, it is quite different.

Wings Phantom 550 Gaming Earbuds

The case is extremely light to hold while he buds fit snugly into the ear without any issue after a few attempts as they were slipping off in the first few tries. The inner box in which the earbuds has to be removed carefully, which I was instructed to do.

Once removed, I reached the bottom of the box in which the charger pin, USB Cable, and four spare earbuds were kept, which were black in colour and last, but not the least, was the user/safety manual with specific instructions on how to operate the device.

Features & Specifications of Wings Phantom 550 Gaming Earbuds

While its features have been receiving good reviews, the one that most people can’t stop talking about is the Bluetooth V5.3 chip, which is said to be the fastest in terms of speed, with the help of which your device can pair up with it up to a distance of 15 metres.

Once you enable the game mode, you get an ultra-low latency mode of up to 50m for lag free gaming audio that switches in 2 seconds while the sound quality is quite topnotch as well, and why not?

With True Bole BASS Technology that powers large 13mm premium graphene drivers with deep bass, fantastic vocals, and clear highs, while the EQ modes are customized for bass and vocals to provide a balanced sound, which will make watching games, movies, and sitcoms a beautiful experience.

Upon fully charging, Wings Phantom 550 Earbuds provide full 10 hours of playback while with the case you get an additional 35 hours. It comes with an Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) Mic that is quite good, while the layout has all the necessary things; charging case, Type-C port, case lights, microphone, and touch sensors.

Gamers can enjoy 45 hours of playtime along with Google & Siri Assistant Support for touch controls, IPX5 Rating, which implies that it is invulnerable to sweat and water, which means you can wear it in heavy rain or while sweating it out profusely in the gym.

It also comes with a silicone ear tips that is quite skin friendly while the buds are made from lightweight ABS plastic, etc.

While charging the earbuds, you need to peel of the protective film on their charging points and place them inside the charging case, so that the lights are turned on, which indicates that the buds are being charged and once done, the lights will go off automatically.

Sometimes, the buds require resetting because sometimes when you see ‘Phantom 550’ in your Bluetooth device menu on your smartphone or hear music only through one of the buds, it indicates that both are not auto paired with one another.

First of all, disconnect them and remove ‘Phantom 550’ from the list of paired devices and then tap the sensor on either of the buds 5 times so as to quickly clear the pairing data, so that the LED on both buds will turn ON and then off within 3 seconds.

Put them back in the charging case so that ‘Phantom 550’ is ready for use to automatically turn back on and pair again. Reset is complete and now you can hear music through both earbuds.

Wings Phantom 550 Gaming Earbuds

Safety Precautions
  • Always keep the earbuds dry, and never put them in humid conditions or hot places to avoid short circuit
  • Never expose the buds in the hot peak sun or heat for extended periods of time as it can damage the battery
  • Never put the buds in cold places to keep the PCB board intact
  • Never dismantle the product as it is unsafe for use for non-professionals
  • Never you chemical products, oily liquids, or detergents to clean the earbuds
  • Never scratch the surface with sharp instruments as it can damage the case
  • Never charge the buds for more than 5 hours as it can harm battery life

Try to avoid hearing music at maximum, ear-piercing volume for longer periods as it can damage your eardrums and your hearing altogether.

Conclusion

All in all, a device well worth your time and money so as to give you a whole new experience while watching movies, playing games, and other things but, at the same time, the safety precautions too have to be followed.

My overall rating for Wings Phantom 550 is 4 out of 5 stars.

The laws like Information Technology Act of 2000, IPC 1860, IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, etc. are non-exhaustive, non-stringent, and are very generalized to govern the subject matter of digital security in India and further these legislations have not covered the suitable provisions to govern the aspect of information and data privacy. Moreover, the digital economy in India is anticipated to reach a valuation of $1 trillion dollars by the year 2025 so the risk occurrence level anticipated is high. Certainly, a paradigm shift is needed in data laws that can direct the legal framework towards attaining an exhaustive set of procedural compliance which is technically efficient, economically sound, legally justifiable, and ethically sustainable.

How are cities will be smart?

  • A city is considered to be “smart” when it can collect and analyze mass quantities of data from a wide variety of industries, from urban planning to garbage collection. In a smart city, a complex network of interconnected sensors, devices, and software must be built and maintained. This should allow the city to become a more sustainable and efficient environment for its residents.

Do you think progress on smart cities is on right track?

  • COVID-19 has impacted practically every country on the planet, creating major economic and healthcare problems. However, in the months after the lockout, the ambition to construct 100 smart cities in India has witnessed a boost, with money almost doubling in use. One of the most pressing issues confronting smart cities is how to fund them. Smart city infrastructure necessitates a significant financial commitment. For the effective implementation of India’s smart city initiative, the government is focusing on increasing Public-Private Partnerships (PPP)

Smart homes will be the next big thing in real estate.

  • Smart Homes have sparked a lot of interest. And it’s safe to assume that they’re the next big thing in real estate. The world’s largest technical businesses are now openly competing for a piece of the smart home market. It’ll only be a matter of time before we’re surrounded by mind-blowing technology and innovation in the smart home space.

How do cities become safe if they are converted into smart cities?

  • Smart Cities imply the implementation of digital technology to improve the quality of life of a city’s inhabitants. The purpose of these cities is to solve some of the problems that are expected to emerge in the cities of the future, fostering a better and more sustainable resource management, among other advantages. However, it will be vital to take smart security measures to guarantee that these improvements are not compromised or threatened. All actors in a smart city environment – government bodies, municipal leaders, local businesses, citizens and visitors – must practise good cybersecurity hygiene. Good authentication policies, such as frequent and regular changing of passwords, multi-factor authentication and increased adoption of biometrics, are essential. There has to be a personal commitment made by anyone accessing smart cities’ digital services, but automated policies should be mandated and installed by governments.

Instagram Profiles to Now Feature Ads; Page Exploration an Added Bonus

Do you have an Instagram account? Are you fond of ads? Would you like a profile with new ads?

In Brief

Among the numerous social media platforms in existence, Instagram is arguably the most popular one we have today along with YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, among others but these days, it seems Instagram and TikTok are the ones that have captured public imagination.

Almost every individual who owns a smartphone will have Instagram installed in it where you constantly post images, videos, stories, and regular posts, similar to WhatsApp where everyone could smoothly work things out through its features.

However, if there is one thing that many people hate while watching videos are the ads that constantly pop up in the middle of any video they’re watching, which only results in frustration.

The latest buzz doing the rounds is that from now on, even Instagram profiles will feature ads, which is seen as a bad move as Instagram has been receiving enormous backlash from the public for its increased focus on video content but it seems that the platform is going ahead with the plans.

This implies that we will soon see ads on Instagram profiles and also on the Explore tab, which users already had to see while scrolling through the feeds of the Explore page, but from now on, Instagram has also given permission to businesses to put ads on the Explore homepage as well.

The explore homepage is the one that you see upon first opening the main tab where you find a grid of videos and images but there are also ads that are quite large in size due to which they occupy a massive portion of the explore grid.

You will find many ads that are ‘sponsored’ along with the account holder’s name and a ‘learn more’ button, which clearly specifies that it is an ad. But now with profiles to also feature ads, users will now have to deal with them while scrolling through another’s account in his/her explore grid.

Instagram

Conclusion

This is a clever content strategy by Meta as it is hoping to cash in on ads via Facebook Reels while the Instagram profile ads are currently in its testing phase so, as of now, they’ll be only in the ‘non-teen, public profiles’.

Meta has had to deal with a massive plunge in Facebook revenue in the last quarter, which is why it hopes to earn some money with the help of ads on Instagram profile, which will also help it in overtaking TikTok in terms of popularity.

Adipurush Courts Controversy; Temple Priest Demands Ban

Highlights

  • Adipurush Movie Release
  • Ram and Ravan Portrayal
  • Negative Publicity
  • Ram Temple priest asks for ban

Are you looking forward to watching Adipurush when it releases? Are you satisfied with the teaser and the portrayal of demigods by its actors? Do you support the proposed ban on the film?

In Brief

India is the country from where four religions came into being- Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism, but due to centuries of invasions and plundering from invaders all over the world, it has a significant population of Muslims and Christians as well.

This is the place where people with different ideologies and beliefs co-exist amongst one another and if any of them is attacked or besmirched, especially in the name of religion, then it leads to riots and destruction, which has been seen since many centuries.

India is also the country where two forms of entertainment are considered akin to religion-movies and cricket, but, over the years, they too have fallen victim to divisive politics, religion, bigotry, ideology, and many other controversies, not least of which includes terror links, casting couch, black money, etc. to name a few.

This is the country that has the largest film industry in the world where movies of different languages release almost every other day and is considered no less than a festive season by hardcore cinema lovers.

Bollywood/Hindi Film Industry is the largest branch of Indian Cinema that accounts for nearly 43% of box office revenue, followed by Tamil and Telugu Cinema at 18% each, with the rest coming from other industries.

As of now, there is huge demand for massy entertainers with punch dialogues, after the massive success of RRR and KGF 2, from Telugu and Kannada Industry, respectively, and Bollywood has renewed hopes, after facing a dull phase, with the success of Brahmastra and has Adipurush lined up for release in a few months.

However, Adipurush has become mired in controversies with just its teaser release of less than 2 minutes where many Hindus have complained that it wrongly portrays both Ram and Ravan that has hurt their religious sentiments.

The head priest of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple has demanded a ban on Adipurush as he feels it wrongly portrays, Ram, Hanuman, and Ravan, and maliciously intends to show an alternate version of the epic Ramayana.

The makers released a near two minute teaser of the film that immediately riled up many Hindu religious groups and organizations who feel that this will create a negative impact in the minds of youngsters by creating a wrong impression of the mythological characters.

Satyendra Das, head priest of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, has claimed that Ravan looks more like a Mughal ruler with the long beard and kohl trimmed eyes, along with a buzz cut, due to which he feels that Ravan is being ‘Islamized’ in the name of entertainment and creative liberty.

Adipurush

Conclusion

Given the negative reviews that the teaser has been receiving, it seems that Om Raut, the film’s director who also made ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’, has a lot of answers to give to the public and the religious groups to explain his actions otherwise it will have a bad impact on the box office fortunes of the movie when it releases in January 2023.
