After successfully introducing Tiago EV for Indian roads, Tata Punch EV is all set for launch somewhere around September 2023 with manufacturers planning on holding a showcase during the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo.

Although the power output could be higher compared to the Tiago models.

The Tata Punch EV is most likely to come in two battery pack options with one for medium-range travels and one for long-range travels.

As for the design department, Tata might stick to the overall petrol variant design, however, some electric-themed styling tropes including EV-themed detailing and electric-specific teal blue share are inevitable.

Apple Market Cap Plummets Below $2 Trillion, Losing 1$ Trillion in One Year

0
Apple
Apple

Apple Stock Market seems to have fallen in extremely rough waters as the market cap/value fell drastically below $2 trillion mark for the first time since 2023, which is one of the biggest tech casualties in a long time.

This is just a year after Apple became the first ever company to reach the massive $3 trillion juggernaut (approx. Rs.2,48,51,900 crore) milestone in market capitalization, which is an herculean feat.

Highlights

  • Apple‘s market value was previously below $2 trillion in 2021 and now it has lost more than $1 trillion in a single year.
  • The firm’s shares declined 3.7% to $125.07 (roughly Rs.10,400), which is said to be a major fall by tech experts.
  • Apple is said to have told suppliers to manufacture fewer product parts so as to avoid any further tech mishaps.

Apple Market Cap Drastically Plummets Below $2 Trillion

Apple has achieved so many milestones for a consistent period of decades that it is impossible to keep count but it has also seen many setbacks every now and then with the latest one being a massive drop in the stock market, which fell below $2 trillion, meaning they’ve lost $1 trillion in one year.

iPhone 14

This is the first time since March 2021 since Apple’s stock market value crashed so abysmally low, which is also just a year after the California based tech giant became the first company to reach a $3 trillion milestone in market capitalization.

The share declined to $125.07 (approx. Rs.10,400), which is a 3.7% drop, after Jerome Ramel, analyst from Exane BNB Paribas, degraded the tech giant from “outperform” to “neutral” and slashed his price target from $180 (approx. Rs.14,900) to $140 (approx. Rs.11,600).

It isn’t Apple alone going through a rough patch as other big tech companies too have experienced market declines at a much steeper percentage, like Amazon and Facebook market shares fell by 50% and 63%, respectively since 2022, while Apple was down by 31% around the same time period, which is relatively better.

On January 3, 2023, Apple’s share fell by nearly 4% after many reports raised concerns regarding consumer demand for its products, while the company has notified several of its suppliers to build fewer parts for most of its popular devices for the first quarter, which includes iPhones, MacBooks, Apple Watch, and AirPods.

Many investors are attributing Apple share’s debacle to high inflation and a global economic slowdown, which prompted Apple to tell its suppliers to reduce making parts of their devices, although it must be said that the company’s value is just ahead of Microsoft, which is valued at $1.8 trillion (approx. Rs.1,49,11,600 crore).

Apple Sold Over Half of the World’s ‘High level’ Smartwatches

Apple Market Cap Conclusion

All in all, Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, and Microsoft now account for a combined stock market value of about 18% of the S&P 500, which is lower than the value of 20% in 2022, so it needs to be seen how things turn out in the future.

Upcoming Android Smartphones Soon to Get Own Variant of Apple’s MagSafe Charging Technology

0
MagSafe

Android users can rejoice as the upcoming models will be getting their own version Apple‘s MagSafe charging technology, which will provide a major boost to the charging of the smartphones as many users constantly complain about it.

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) recently announced the Qi2 standard as a successor to the Qi technology, which had recently become the single unified wireless charging standard as of late.

Highlights

  • Android smartphones will now be getting their own variants of the MagSafe charging technology, which belongs to Apple, as the news was recently confirmed.
  • Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) announced some time back that Qi charging technology will be getting a follow-up option in the form of Qi2.
  • WPC Executive Director Paul Struhsaker has clarified that since everyone wants energy and efficiency in equal measure, Qi2 will come with a perfect alignment that will provide of both of them.

Android Smartphones Soon to Get their Own Version of Apple MagSafe Charging Option

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) recently held an event where it announced the Qi2 standard for fireless devices as the proverbial follow-up to Qi, which in itself is the single unified wireless charging standard.

MagSafe

Apple is one of the prominent members of WPC that provided the basis for the brand new Qi2 standard that builds on its MagSafe charging technology, which it hopes will directly prove beneficial to the Android ecosystem.

WPC is confident that Qi2 will not only be a worthy successor to Qi but also prove to be a new version that matches Apple’s MagSafe charging technology, which is saying something as considering the popularity of Apple’s charging variants.

Qi2 is set to come with a new Magnetic Power Profile that will align the charger with the device that will provide a major boost to energy and efficiency in equal measure so that manufacturers too will be able to crank up their charging speeds, although WPC has confirmed that Android devices will be supported by a 15 watt limit, just like MagSafe.

“Energy efficiency and sustainability are on everyone’s minds these days,” says WPC executive director Paul Struhsaker. “Qi2’s perfect alignment improves energy efficiency by reducing the energy loss that can happen when the phone or the charger is not aligned. Just as important, Qi2 will greatly reduce the landfill waste associated with wired charger replacement due to plugs breaking and the stress placed on cords from daily connecting and disconnecting.”

Although not confirmed, WPC hopes that the very first devices equipped with Qi2 wireless charging support will be available around 2023 holiday season, although currently it appears to be in testing phase, but if all goes out well, it may be available around Christmas 2023.

Apple is working on a low-cost AirPods mode, which it has termed AirPods Lite where it hopes to add another variant to the not-so expensive Apple earbuds, which would be a tough task as wearable audio devices are showing a decline in popularity in 2023.

The company hopes to introduce a mid-range variant that can easily compete with other variants of its range, while Apple aims to put it in the 2nd generation AirPods that could see a dip on price, which would be around $99.

Highlights

  • Apple working on a new ‘low-cost’ AirPods Lite model.
  • The new model could be offered to compete with other less expensive non-Apple earbuds.
  • Reports also show a sign of decreasing demand for Apple’s wearable audio accessories in 2023.

Apple May Soon Launch AirPods Lite, Cheaper Version of AirPods

Apple has created numerous milestones in the past few years that are extremely difficult to surpass, whether it is smartphones, laptops, tablets, or wearable accessories, which is why people don’t think twice before straightaway going for an Apple product as soon as it comes out in the market.

Speaking of AirPods, Apple seems to be currently working on a new set of cheaper models called AirPods Lite that will be in the mid-range category that will be available at an affordable price where they can compete with other mid-range earbuds in the market, while several analysts have suggested that its price could be lower than $129 (approx. Rs.10,700) for which the 2nd generation AirPods currently retails.

Another theory is that AirPods Lite could slot in above the ageing 2nd generation AirPods whose price could drop even further at $99 (approx. Rs.8,200) in case the AirPods are launched today, although the launch date, features, and specifications haven’t been revealed as yet.

Vi 5G Launch

Vodafone Idea

The delay in Vi joining the 5G bandwagon is understandable if you have been paying attention to the company’s finances.

It is widely expected that the telecom will finally announce the launch of its 5G networks soon in 2023.

Vodafone Idea MD and CEO Ravinder Takkar, while speaking to the media about this said, “Our network is very much 5G-ready. When the 5G auction takes place, we will be able to launch 5G. However, there is a need to develop India’s 5G use cases. India is unique and some global use cases might not be relevant.”

BSNL 4G Rollout

BSNL

According to some recent media reports, BSNL is all set to roll out the 4G network to its customers as early as January 2023.

The company received 4G trails permission some time back and speculations around its eventual availability have been making news since then. Infrastructure has already been upgraded in the metro cities for a possible rollout.

While we are waiting for BSNL 4G, the Cabinet Minister of Communication Ashwini Vaishnav also recently confirmed that BSNL will also foray into 5G networks by August 2023. Whether both 4G and 5G deployments happen simultaneously or in segments is something yet to be confirmed.

Increase in 5G Data Consumption

If it wasn’t obvious, the telecom sector in 2023 will be all about the 5G network. One of the biggest trends that the industry is hoping to cash on is the increase in 5G data consumption across the country.

With customers getting upgraded speed and latency, most industry experts have speculated more data per second compared to 4G. This will also push telecoms to be prepared to offer more data benefits with 5G plans to meet the increase in demand.
