In your own words, can you describe the product that Qubo has launched today and its utility?
Ans: Absolutely. Our offerings are divided into two primary segments: home and auto.
For the home, we are primarily driven by the twin pillars of security and automation.
On the security side, we have a varied range of cameras which cater to different user needs.
Automation sees us presenting solutions like smart plugs, smart bulbs, and even smart locks which enable homeowners to have a more connected and controlled environment.
On the auto side, which has been the highlight of today’s event, we are passionately working on ensuring safety and enhancing the driving experience.
We’ve launched an array of dash cams with different resolutions tailored to different user needs and a specialised tracker for bikes.
Given Hero’s background in bikes, this product is expected to integrate well with the vehicles we sell.
The underlying theme of these products is the infusion of ML and AI capabilities, enabling them to, for example, notify owners if their vehicle is being towed, or if there are signs of a potential theft.
We understand the emotional and financial investment Indians put into their cars, and our aim is to offer them peace of mind.
At the beginning of the event, there was a strong emphasis on ‘made in India’ software and hardware. Can you explain the reasoning behind this?
Ans: Certainly. The Hero Group fundamentally believes in India’s capability.
While India has already showcased its prowess in the software services domain with giants like TCS and Infosys, we believe there’s an untapped potential in product manufacturing.
This belief has only been strengthened by the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Our approach has been holistic: we have in-house teams dedicated to various facets from hardware design, firmware design, all the way to cloud services.
This gives us an unparalleled edge in terms of ensuring product integrity, devoid of issues like Trojans.
Moreover, being based in India allows us to swiftly address any customer concerns and roll out upgrades promptly.
Another advantage is our strong inclination towards AI, which we seamlessly integrate across our products, aiming to offer smarter and more intuitive solutions than our competitors.
Given that your products revolve around capturing images and videos, how are you addressing potential privacy concerns?
Ans: Privacy is paramount for us. We understand the sensitivity of the data our products collect.
To ensure the highest levels of security, we undergo rigorous third-party audits that specifically focus on data privacy and protection.
Our storage solutions are meticulously designed to guarantee that only the rightful owner, the customer, can access their videos.
This is made possible through a robust authentication mechanism which uses multiple levels of checks like the user’s mobile phone login, Gmail address, and even a two-factor authentication.
Our priority is to ensure a secure environment where customers feel confident about the safety of their data.
Can you shed light on the utility of the GPS tracker that was announced?
Ans: Of course. The GPS tracker has diverse utilities.
For bikers, a prominent concern is bikes being towed, especially without their knowledge.
Our system instantly notifies the owner if such an event occurs.
Another concern is the bike tipping over when parked; our system is sensitive enough to detect this and alert the owner.
For four-wheelers, we’ve incorporated features like overspeeding detection, which can be a valuable tool for parents or spouses concerned about their loved ones’ driving habits.
Additionally, the system is equipped to detect hacking attempts or outright theft, providing real-time tracking.
Even if someone doesn’t have the app, we have provisions for them to track their vehicle through a simple webpage, similar to tracking a cab on platforms like Ola.
Qubo, with its smart home ecosystem, seems to be well-received. What is the future vision for Qubo, say five years from now?
Ans: Our journey has just begun. While we are currently focused on home and auto, the landscape is vast.
In the home domain, our next step is transitioning to smart appliances.
We’ve already made a foray with an air purifier.
Our vision is to create appliances that not only serve their primary function but also offer additional value.
For instance, in the case of air purifiers, our system can intelligently notify users when a filter change is due, simplifying maintenance.
The auto sector also holds immense promise.
Beyond tracking and dash cams, we’re looking at expanding into areas like infotainment and other vehicular accessories.
