With 16 of the best BGMI teams from across the country competing in one of Skyesports’ premium IPs, a record-breaking number of viewers tuned in to see who will be crowned the champions. The finals were played from February 9 to 16.

Skyesports Grand Slam 2022 was presented by AMD with Loco as the broadcast partner for the tournament. The championship commenced on January 28 with 3,000 teams, of which only 16 teams made it to the quarterfinals and finals. The 7-day finale concluded on 16 February, drawing attention from over 100K live viewers, consecutively for the last 5 days of the tournament on Loco.

On the final day of the Grand Slam, the tournament recorded a peak concurrent viewership of more than 159K which has set an all-new record on Loco. The number not only represents Skyesports’ ability to put up a captivating show for a huge audience but also shows the tremendous growth of Loco as a leading streaming platform in the country, garnering such high viewership numbers for the tournament. Prior to this, Loco’s Thug Invitational garnered a whopping 108K concurrent live viewers, marking the platforms first 100K benchmark, which was broken not long after by Skyesports’ BGMI Grandslam Tournament.

Loco is an Indian esports and live game streaming platform where various esports tournaments are streamed. Content creators across games like COD, GTA 5, Free Fire, Valorant, and more stream their gameplay regularly on the platform. The platform seamlessly connects streamers and creators to their relevant viewers, providing them with exponential content reach. Skyesports and Loco are continuing to set new benchmarks for content partnerships, and consumers can expect high-quality entertainment from both of us through the course of the year.”

After an intense battle that went on to the last game, Team XO emerged as the champions of the Skyesports Grand Slam 2022 taking home a prize win of 8 lakhs. The squad, consisting of IMMORTAL, Punkk, Fierce, SENSEI, and the recently-signed Snax, showed why they are a force to be reckoned with a consistent performance which saw them picking up the most placement points in the finals. Team Soul, which has been experimenting with different rosters in the past few months, seemed to have found their winning touch again with an impressive second-place finish, winning 3 lakhs. The BGIS champions, Skylightz Gaming, came in third, winning a prize pool of 1.5 lakhs.

“The engagement numbers from the audience is a testament to the production quality of Skyesports and the growing BGMI esports audience in the country,” said Shiva Nandy, the CEO of Skyesports. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have broken records on India’s homegrown streaming platform, Loco, and look forward to continuing this partnership in the future. There’s a lot more coming throughout the year.”

“I’d like to congratulate our dynamic team at Jet Skyesports for achieving yet another successful milestone with this Grand Slam 2022 tournament,” said Rajan Navani, the Founder and CEO of JetSynthesys. “With the tournament viewership growing rapidly, we’re happy to see the engagement of Indian audiences scaling up towards these eminent gaming titles.”

Nokia in the mobile world has left an unforgettable legacy. The brand (before owned by Microsoft) has given us many memorable and spectacular cellphones that catered to both the elderly and the young. Every launch was unique as well as a trendsetter in the mobile market. Also, every cellphone rolled by Nokia has some story or exceptional thought process associated with it.
We, as a part of Gen-Z, need to know the epic releases from Nokia, which actually revolutionized the mobile industry. Here’s a glimpse of the very best 7 Nokia phones the company ever rolled out.

Nokia 8810 (1998)

Nokia-8810

The legendary Nokia 8810 was a slider-style handset and among the most luxurious phones at that time. It was unquestionably a stunner with an internal antenna and encased in chrome plating. The in-built antenna helped in increasing the battery life, but because of the metal body, the manufacturing became very complicated and limited.

Nokia N95 (2007)

n95

Nokia N95 was another N-series flagship phone known for its portability and overall features. The design of this one was unique back then as it has a two-way slider mechanism used to access media playback buttons or the keypad. The N95 was considered a breakthrough technology. The phone was released in Black and Silver after that, it even promoted some limited editions in Purple and Gold.

Nokia 5110

5110

Nokia 5110 continue the legacy of Nokia as it was the most popular phone of that era. Everything on the phone, from the screen icons or the battery life, was huge. It was specifically designed for the business class and had a simple revamped interface called Series 20.
Another reason behind its popularity lies in your childhood memories. The most famous ‘Snake” game was also introduced with this handset only. The 5110 was not only subtle, but it was the absolute show-stopper.

Nokia 2110 (1994)

Nokia 2110

The Nokia 2110 was the first mobile phone capable of sending SMS messages. It was also the first to offer an unmistakable ringtone of Nokia. Furthermore, it included the ability to store the last 10 dialled, received and missed calls. Its retracting antenna also made it the device of choice for busy professionals who liked little more than pulling out the antenna with their teeth while dashing between meetings and looking far busier than their phoneless peers.

Nokia E71

2110

E71 came into existence right when iPhone was out for a year, and Blackberry was ruling the market of the business phones. It was a metal-clad phone distinguished by a QWERTY keyboard and a thin 1cm profile. The reason to buy the epic E71 was the average looks of Blackberry and the hiked prices of the iPhone.

The E71 was a great option for people interested in work and multimedia. However, it leaned more towards work. Surprisingly, with the E71, Nokia made screen switching possible. Now, with the two home screens, users could have used one for work and another for personal use.

Nokia N9 (2011)

nokia - N9

The Nokia N9 was the first Nokia device running on MeeGo operating system. It is also the only mobile to have a MeeGo system as the company’s partnership with Microsoft announced that year. The phone was initially available in three colours – Black, Cyan, and Magenta and later with a white version as well.

The N9 is widely known as one of the finest devices to date. Furthermore, it was praised for both its software and hardware, including the MeeGo operating system, buttonless ‘swipe’ user interface, and its high-end features. Its design looks the same as Windows Phone-powered Nokia Lumia 800 later that year.

Nokia 3310 (2000)

NOKIA 3310

The Nokia 3310 was launched to replace the last 3210 model. This model was one of the most successful Nokia phones, which sold 126 million units worldwide. It is also the part of Nokia’s iconic series which attained the most popular cult status due to its extreme durability.
Furthermore, it was fairly built with sturdy construction and embodied with the right features and processor. As the first mobile phone to allow users to send three SMS messages in one, it also proved incredibly popular with teenagers, students and anyone else with plenty to type. It also featured a 2MP camera with a microSD slot.

Tell us which one was your favorite and what other models we can add here! Do let us know the hits or miss from Nokia that feel right to you.

The inaugural edition of this tri-nation cup was held completely online and the three month long tournament registered a total viewership of 130 million+ video views across the social channels of India Today Gaming (ITG).

“For us it’s a new thing…we used to play for the sake of entertainment. But people are making a career out of it now. There are analysts for them, there are discussions around it and even coaching is provided to make them understand the nuances of the game. Not only the players but many people are now associating with it in order to be something. It is relatively easy for me to understand the demands and effort. I would suggest to these players that if you love esports then put in your hard work and become so strong that no one can beat you,” said Harbhajan Singh, former India cricketer.

The winning team took home a cash prize of Rs 35 lakh, while the runner-up bagged Rs 15 lakh. The Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) was given to Daksh Garg, aka Mafia of Total Gaming esports Team. Ajay Sharma, aka FozyAjay of Total Gaming, was awarded the Best IGL of the Championship. Nepal’s Team Khelmandap Brotherhood won the best underdog team while India’s Radhe Thakur was adjudged as the Best Clutcher of the Tournament. The fans voted Total Gaming as their favorite team. All the individual awardees received Rs 50,000 as prize money.

“The best part is everyone can participate in these games…like how for India and Pakistan matches we had the pressure to win, the same pressure was on these (esports) players…the traditional rivalry of India vs Pakistan matches like in cricket, hockey or kabaddi is high so the competition will be high, and it will continue in esports also,” stated Inzamam-ul-Haq, former Pakistan cricket captain.

The World Esports Cup had Infinix Smartphone as the presenting sponsor and was played under the aegis of gamer-centric campaign #GameHaiToFameHai with Tiger Shroff as the inimitable brand ambassador that encouraged players to showcase their top game and get recognised by the gaming industry.
