  • Full-screen videos now on Twitter
  • TikTok Route
  • Immersive Views

What are your views on TikTok? Are you fond of watching videos? Are you interested in seeing Twitter videos in full screen format? Find out.

In Brief

Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms we have today that led the revolution during the mid-2000s with the likes of Facebook and YouTube, which was soon to be followed by WhatsApp, Instagram, and many others.

Twitter is more or less regarded as a toxic platform nowadays where people constantly spew venom over things they hate and have no qualms in crossing their limits or going overboard in an apparent bid to force their opinions and thinking upon others.

Twitter

It looks like Twitter is all set to follow in the footsteps of TikTok as it has decided to start showcasing videos in full screen format and this will be welcome news for users that are fond of watching their favourite videos with a full screen so now Twitter feeds will be replete with them.

Until now, viewers had to be content with watching Twitter videos in a smaller screen but all thanks to the new media viewer of the social media platform, the viewers can now avail a highly immersive experience, as they can immediately switch to full screen mode.

Once you click on the video, you can retweet, like, share, and comment on it, which will be similar to the features of a TikTok video and if you think that the similarity ends there, then you’re wrong.

Users can now avail the Scroll Up gesture in order to continue watching more videos in a format similar to not just TikTok but also Instagram Reels and YouTube shorts, due to which you can explore more content.

You will also get a back-arrow option through which you can exit full screen mode and go back to your original feed although only those users who’ve installed iOS 16 in their iPhones can avail this feature in the initial stages while Android users have to wait awhile before getting it.

By bringing in this new change, Twitter is catering to viewers’ demands and following the trend, even though there will be brickbats from certain users who are far from pleased with this new feature.

For the unversed, Instagram had conducted initial tests for using the full screen mode for its entire feed, which was met with immense criticism, which soon escalated to a full-scale backlash, leaving Instagram with no choice but to roll back the decision.

Conclusion

It remains to be seen whether Twitter will receive the same response as its counterpart or will users will welcome the full screen feature like some others have done but it goes without saying that it will bring in a change in viewing videos as watching it in full screen is different from watching it in a small screen.

Telegram Premium

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Telegram Premium was previously priced at Rs.469 a month in India
  • The service grants improved functionality to paying subscribers
  • Telegram Premium was launched in global markets in June
  • Telegram Premium to Increase its Subscriber Base
  • It competes directly with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger

Brief Summary

When it comes to messaging applications, WhatsApp is the first name that comes to mind followed by others like Signal and Telegram even though they both have their own importance but are highly underrated when compared to their more erstwhile counterpart.

Telegram has acquired its own place in the messaging medium as there are numerous subscribers of the application in large numbers and its makers want to capitalize on its growing popularity among the masses.

The messaging app has come out with its monthly subscription service, Telegram Premium, which will make the application cheaper for all subscribers in India as the Dubai based company has announced a price change for its Indian users whilst the revised price is now circulating on the platform already.

Telegram premium

It has been many months since Telegram rolled out its premium service around early to mid-2022, which is being classified as a paid tier through which subscribers can avail new features, updates, and improved functionality, from other accounts and channels to faster speed downloading, which is a good way to raise revenue.

‘Telegram Premium is now available in your country at a discount. Premium subscribers unlock dozens of exclusive features’- This is the notification that Telegram has been sending to all its premium subscribers since the past weekend where they want to announce the slash of prices by a whopping 60% to all its users.

The massive slash in prices will increase the subscriber base of the premium service due to which Indian subscribers can gain access to larger 4G file uploads and download everything at faster speed, along with getting access to the ability to convert voice messages into text format.

Some readers might be astonished on hearing this but it is true that, from now on, a Telegram Premium subscription in India can be availed at Rs.179 per month, which is around 60% lower than the global price of the premium subscription when it came out in June 2022.

Up until the first week of October 2022, all the premium subscribers had to pay Rs.469 per month, which is quite higher than the revised price, and this is the reason why there are many people that want to subscribe to the Telegram Premium application immediately.

Conclusion

During June 2022, the premium subscriber count of Telegram service comprised of nearly 700 million active users, which has brought Telegram face-to-face with more popular messaging apps like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, which have over 1 billion and 2 billion active users, respectively.

Poco M5 Smartphone

  • Features
  • Specifics
  • Price

What are the qualities you look for before buying a new smartphone? How do you feel about Poco as a brand? What all can users expect from Poco M5? Find out.

Brief Summary

When it comes to the best smartphones, there are a slew of brands vying for public attention like Apple, Samsung, OPPO, Infinix, among others but today we are going to talk about a brand new smartphone model from Poco.

Poco is a highly underrated brand when compared to the aforementioned ones because it was launched only a couple of years back in August 2018. But no less efficient than them and we are going to talk about the latest Poco smartphone model that has come out in the market, which is Poco M5 launched in India on September 5, 2022.

Poco M5

When it comes to good looking smartphones, Poco M5 will join the list of its illustrious predecessors that has lived up to the reputation of being their worthy successor with all the necessary features and specifications that you can hope for.

Poco M5 has been very well received by many users who’ve liked its features and specifications along with the affordable price value, which was the main cause of concern for many people as they wouldn’t have been able to afford it due to budget constraints.

My Opinion on Poco M5

Poco M5 has come in a yellow, rectangular retail box with ‘POCO M5’ labelled in huge capital letters at the bottom left with the Poco Logo highlighted at the top right and the ‘Made in India’ campaign on the left.

At the bottom it is given ‘India’s #1 Quality Smartphone Brand’, which has become synonymous with POCO models as of late as almost every device is launched with this particular quote.

Upon opening the box, a yellow plastic box with the manual inside along with the instructions on how to handle it with care, as is the case with all electronic devices and gadgets.

The smartphone model is next and even though it is slightly heavy, the device is quite exquisite when it comes to design while at the bottom of the box, there is a 22.5W charging adapter, along with a USB Cable Type-C Port, TPU Protective Case, SIM Ejector Tool, along with the usual paperwork.

Upon first glance, Poco M5 is very beautiful to look at and doesn’t feel like a regular affordable smartphone that can be purchased easily as it comes with a textured finish that greatly resembles leather at the back panel that gives viewers a premium look and feel.

Poco M5

While its design is something that many would find similar to other brands of smartphones, it does have the necessary X-Factor despite being neither slim nor light smartphone but it is one of the best models in recent times that everyone should try out.

When I held it in my hand, I experienced a strange, inexplicable feeling, despite the slight heaviness of the handset, which is why I held it a little tight and briskly as though I was holding an expensive piece of glass.

A moment later, I started examining the model to see if it was everything that it was made out to be by its makers and found most, if not all, the features up my alley and came to the conclusion that it was indeed a worthy model.

While the handset is made of plastic, it is perfect for daily use due to its durability while the front screen has a Gorilla Glass 3 protection, which is something that every big smartphone should have nowadays.

Price, Features & Specifications of Poco M5

Poco M5 comes with a 6.9 inch LCD, FHD+ display screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Gorilla Glass 3 protection as mentioned above. It is powered by MediaTek Helio G99, which is enough to keep pace with the daily tasks such as social media apps, browsing, YouTube video surfing, and lastly, watching movies on the numerous OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar, Sony LIV, among others.

The general animations were something I found quite slick for my use, something I could not find with other smartphone models that have come out in the past few years and part of it was due to the 90Hz display that made for a snappy experience.

It is quite a good model that you can purchase in India under Rs.15,000 as the starting price is Rs.12,499 while the sales price is even lower at Rs.10,499, which is a worthy option for students, casual phone users, and people that want a secondary option that will come in handy for many days at a stretch.

It comes with two storage variants viz. 4GB RAM + 64GB internal capacity and 6GB RAM + 128GB internal capacity (which is this particular model) while its weight is 201g although the slight heaviness does make it feel it is a little more than that.

The MediaTek’s Helio G99 processor was unveiled in August 2022, which many people consider the lifeline of Poco M5, along with other smartphone models like Redmi 11 Prime, Infinix Note 12 Pro, among others.

Even though it is a 4G model handset, it has all the basis covered in the form of its features with a peerless design at such a ridiculously low price while the 90Hz refresh rate is a good choice for game lovers as they can enjoy the gaming experience a lot more while the display screen makes it perfect for watching videos and movies.

Now coming to the 50MP camera due to which the images have a natural depth of field while the app itself locks down the focus quickly while the textures in things such as walls and flowers are processed well and good, which is why the pictures are not smoothened out.

The portrait mode is also fine, which lends a shallow depth of field effect to the images but the natural colours and textures are quite jarring while the night pictures have artefacts and grain due to which you need to switch to night modes immediately as it solves the issue once and for all.

List of Specifications of Poco M5

Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones Review: Alternate Dimension

Sony
Sony

Highlights

  • Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphone
  • Features & Characteristics
  • Key Specifications

What are the things that you look for in a brand new headphones? Its features? Sound Quality? Design?. Let’s find out.

There are so many tech giants out there that consistently roll out one excellent device after another at regular intervals and 2022 has been no different where we have seen the likes of Apple, Samsung, OPPO, Infinix, etc. come out with topnotch smartphones, laptops, and other electronic gadgets one after another.

In this milieu, how can Sony be left out? Sony 1000X series of headphones is the latest device that the company has come out with in September 2022 that has left music and game lovers excited at the prospect of hearing their favourite songs and playing their favourite games in a whole new sound quality.

It is only to be expected that a massive tech giant, Sony in this case, will always churn out devices that are better than its predecessors in terms of quality, features, price, specifications and other noteworthy points.

Sony Headphone

Brief Summary

Music and gaming aficionados impatiently wait for new audio devices to come out but Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones have been long waited that almost every tech lover and user should know about because music is the only universal language in the world that every living being can relate to.

When it comes to headphones, there are but a handful of companies that come out with quality models with Sony always being somewhere at the top. The company has come out with its new model- Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones, which has met with good responses from all corners.

To live up to its fame and repute is not an easy task for a tech giant like Sony because with each successful device, the company’s responsibilities increase manifolds where they have to know the pulse of the audience, which keeps changing at the drop of a hat.

Sony WH-1000XM5 has a lot of expectation riding upon it as its predecessors where considered the ‘king of the hill’, which is why this new model has already taken the crown, and why not?

What will an illuminating design, new features, key specifications, and many other intriguing subsets to boast, of Sony WH-1000XM5 is, what you call, the new kid on the block.

Given the sky high expectations, one would expect for the new headphones to live up to the expectations of its makers and users but one needs to analyze the device in detail so that others would know whether it is worth purchasing or not.

Sony

My Opinion on Sony WH-1000XM5

Sony WH-1000XM5 comes in a large, square-shaped, cardboard box, which upon opening has a large black, zipped pouch inside and once you unzip it, the headsets are kept inside in all its glory.

Black coloured headphones that are light to hold and with Sony engraved on both handles, the device is quite an illuminating piece that is intriguing to look at first glance. Upon further examining, you find the power switch at the bottom along with the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) button of the left ear cushions with the charging slot to its right with USB C-Port.

The moment I put the cushions in my ears, I experienced a peculiar sensation as though a lot of background noise was blocked out while the ear cushions gave a soothing feeling the moment they came in contact with my ears.

The cardboard box did feel a little heavy upon holding it, which is mainly due to it’s size while the black box in which the headphones are kept appears to be a medium sized pouch but it is quite easy to hold without any heavy sensation but the hook at the top makes the box easy to hold with one finger.

Sony WH-1000XM5 is an apt device for music lovers and are fond of listening to their favourite songs throughout the day, which includes city-dwellers, office workers, college students, daily commuters, etc. but if those fond of attending calls for long hours and higher-bitrate Bluetooth audio, this is a worthy choice as it lives up to most of your expectations.

The device comes with a number of bells and whistles, while the fundamentals seem all right and although not perfect, Sony WH-1000XM5 can be classified as headphones that are highly ambitious in nature as the cans point at a number of features that have been already associated with a host of other headsets like, for example, Find My Device support, through Fast Pair and Android.

The headsets are clapped in Vegan Leatherette with a soft and smooth coating while the contact area with your head is extremely soft and therefore does not trouble upon putting on despite a good amount of friction caused.

It needs to be mentioned that the previous WH-1000X headsets pads have been quite incongruous on people with larger ears but in the case of WH-1000XM5, it is quite deep and wide enough to fit on larger ears like a T with no amount of discomfort to the wearer, unlike the previous models.

Device Control

The price of Sony WH-1000XM5 in USA is $399 while the main controls of this model is more or less the same as its last three iterations where on the right ear cup you have the capacitive touch panel.

The following table will make things clearer:

Action Function
Swipe up Volume up
Swipe down Volume down
Swipe forward Track forward
Swipe back Track back
Hold (center) Voice assistant
Double tap center Pause / resume
Cup hand Ambient sound pass through

For turning on the headphones, you need press and hold the power button for a few seconds following which it will start pairing mode and you can pair it with other devices via Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth 5.2 with SBC, AAC, LDAC, and also comes with many wired connectivity options.

By toggling the ANC mode, you have to press the NC/AMB button where you can select ANC, ANC off, or Ambient Sound modes where the latter will allow you to hear all the things that are going around you as the outside noise is piped in via microphone array.

If you want to make the best use of your headphones, you need to get the Sony Headphones Connect App for your handset as it is essential for optimizing ANC, 360 Reality Audio, and custom equalizer through which settings are directly saved.

Sony WH-1000XM5 has come with a massive improvement as far as overall noise attenuation is concerned, which is not limited to ANC performance, due to which you can isolate your ears from outside background noise and since ANC can do only so much and no further, it is much preferable to block sound out than cancel it.

Sound Quality on Sony WH-1000XM5

A unique quality of ANC headphones is that they have strong bass, which doesn’t bode well for midrange and WH-1000XM5 considerably boosts bass too much whose emphasis is noticed immediately while the midrange, from 300Hz to 1050Hz, sounds completely off as the sound is drowned due to loud noise.

There is no equalization, which is why the sound of stringed instruments, horns, woodwinds, and even higher vocals sound quite dull when compared to your favourite songs.

Coming to battery life, the tests have concluded that Sony WH-1000XM5 yields 31 Hours and 53 minutes when ANC is on, which is a bit better than the battery life of 30 hours that Sony had advertised with much fanfare but upon disabling ANC and re-testing improved the result by more than 20 hours as the total battery life was now 53 hours and 6 minutes.

Sony

Conclusion

All in all, a device well worth considering if you want to take it to office, work from home, or outside travels. There might be budget constraints as $400 are a lot of money but well worth it when you test it yourself.

However, if you’re a gym savvy individual and obsessed with fitness and love going out in heavy rain, then this model is not for you as it does not have an IP rating so don’t risk it as it might get spoilt.

With great ANC performance and decent sound quality, it is well worth spending your money on and the pros far outweigh the cons.

Highlights

  • Safety Check measures in IOS 16
  • Importance of Feature
  • Privacy Settings

What is iOS 16? What is safety check feature? How will you use it in your iPhone? Find out.

In Brief

The new iOS 16 operating system has been receiving many positive reviews since it came out in August 2022 although there were also a few that were somewhat disappointed with some of its features.

Whenever a new device is launched with upgraded features, people are quick to analyze its pros and cons so that they’re sure that they’re spending their dough in the right place, a practice that has become prevalent in the last few years.

iOS 16 is also a new operating system that has its fair share of features that are in upgraded format when compared to the previous operating system but there is one that is of utmost importance, which is the iPhone Safety Check feature that many users need to know about.

iOS 16

First off, it is well known how many users are wary of sharing their locations with apps and other individuals, which is why Apple has allowed its users the liberty to revoke sharing sensitive information to others, which also includes access to their iPhones via passcodes and Face ID.

With the help of the safety check feature, users can immediately adjust or completely revoke all the permissions from a single location because nobody wants to look up all the settings that are in the device as it takes a lot of time to search for.

There are two ways through which the Safety Check works- Emergency Reset and Manage Sharing & Access. You need to tap ‘Quick Exit’ while checking Safety Check so that the screen is closed immediately and you can leave the Settings app.

There are times when you’re asked by friends or family as to what you’re doing on your iPhone and you don’t want to reveal that you’re revoking data sharing and other things that require permission.

Noted Points

For using safety check on your iPhone, you need to follow some important points and we’ll discuss both of the aforementioned ways on how to work the feature so that users will understand the whole process easily.

  • Emergency Reset: It is the feature through which users can stop sharing any kind of access granted to other apps and individuals so that you can immediately stop sharing data access to other parties like location, which also includes other apps through which your location can be traced. Hence it is called Emergency Reset.

For activating Emergency Reset, you need to go to ‘Settings’, then ‘Private Security’ where you will find ‘Safety Check’ where you then tap on the ‘Emergency Reset’ option and verify your identity via Face ID/Passcode, and finally tap ‘Start Emergency Reset’.

Once it is done, your smartphone will not be able to share location data, images, or any other information, with other users or web applications. Then, you tap on ‘Reset People & Apps’ following which you confirm by tapping ‘Reset’.

All your safety devices will be signed into the Apple ID where you can select any if you want to sign out and remove Apple ID from them. After selecting the devices, you tap on ‘Remove Selected Devices’ but if you haven’t chosen any, then simply tap ‘Skip’.

While setting up phone numbers in your account that are reliable and trustworthy, you can do it easily but the numbers should be your own and in case of others, they can be removed instantly, following which you tap ‘Continue’.

Now, for setting up emergency contacts, they have to be people of implicit trust like family members and friends that you can count on or rather, who are willing to take a bullet for you and vice versa.

Emergency contacts will notify you during any emergency situation that you’re in where you desperately need to use the Emergency SOS feature on your iPhone and then you can add your contacts.

  • Manage Sharing & Access: This option is for those who want to remove permissions and sharing settings for a particular group of people. For operating the feature, you need to go to ‘Settings’, then ‘Privacy & Security’, and ‘Safety Check’.

First of all, you can check the number of people you have shared your info and remove people with whom you no longer wish to share any information whatsoever like location, phone access, etc. among others.

You can also remove the apps that have access to your data and remove them when they’re no longer of use.

For verifying trustworthy contacts, you can immediately remove those that you don’t think are trustworthy any longer and add those that you think are.

Once it is done, your iPhone will prompt you when its time to update your Apple ID password in case an unreliable person has access to it. You can immediately change it so that they don’t get further access.
