The long-awaited arrival of 5G reached its finishing point with the commencement of the 6th edition of Asia’s largest digital technology forum- India Mobile Congress (IMC), today. The illustrious moment of bringing 5G to the nation breathed to life with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of the four-day mega telecom event at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. As 5G begins its service today, technological advancements are to explode at an exceptional rate in various sectors such as Healthcare, Edu-Tech, Agriculture, Defence, Industry 4.0, and Financial Technology. The four-day event that starts today and ceases on October 4, 2022, will present first-hand experiences of how the change will follow through.

Accelerating country’s digitization agenda, the launch of 5G has garnered worldwide attention as it vows to make India a global manufacturing destination. International conversations have been stirred and all eyes are on the country to see the digital dreams and ambitions of 1.4 billion people become a reality. Startup programs in Drone Applications, Robotics, Metaverse, and Cloud Gaming are also going to be highlighted at IMC. The event is not only specified to unlocking innovations but also spans across the spectrums of networking with several ecosystem players exhibiting their themes and beliefs through trials, demos, announcements, etc.

Bringing together the telecom grandmasters, the inauguration ceremony witnessed key speakers from all domains. “Prime Minister’s vision of an Atmanirbhar India propelled the advent of 4G & 5G and by the end of this decade, will also give rise to 6G,” said Shri Devusinh Chauhan, Minister of State for Communications, Government of India. On the other hand, pointing out the success of 4G and dictating how it was a digital force to reckon with during the Covid outbreak, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Founder and Chairman, Bharti Enterprises turned from the focus on the roll-out of 5G and tossed light on how the robust 4G networks supported various communities through the pandemic. He said, “The vision of digital India arrayed the 5G discussion and accelerated 4G by not allowing the miseries of the pandemic to stop the heartbeat of the nation.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi did a quick observational survey of the inventions at display and aided the demonstration of several prolific use-cases of 5G services. He interacted with a student from SGS School, Uttar Pradesh, who belonged to a group of students who have recently experienced virtual reality-based education in Metaverse. The interaction took place with the Hologram innovation, marking new ways of education through a virtual environment and showcasing 5G’s effect in immersive, interactive and experiential learning. “On behalf of India’s Government & Telecom Industry, 130 crore Indians are receiving the gift of 5G today. 5G has knocked on India’s doors marking the advent of a new age and endless possibilities,” shared Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the audience.

Originated in the year 2017, Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) is etched in the annual calendars of telecom events today. With each edition, it is expanding in size, stature and impact. The Indian Mobile Congress is a joint effort by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). They have put together Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, and other leading telecom companies under one roof- to become an epitome of technology demonstrations and innovations that is effortlessly presented with thought leadership. The forum is now open for everyone who resonates with India’s curiosity to catapult into a leading economy of the world!
