Twitter-Elon Musk Lock Horns for Upcoming Legal Battle; Company Approves Takeover

Elon Musk

Twitter is one of the biggest social media platforms we have today with billions of subscribers worldwide where everyone comes together to share their thoughts and opinions on various matters.

It is said that the social media revolution led to print and electronic media becoming obsolete and today, in 2022, we are living in times when media is no longer the reliable/trustworthy fourth pillar of democracy it once was.

However, good times don’t last long and the same goes for Twitter as well because it is now in troubled waters after Elon Musk decided to purchase the platform for a whopping $44 million.

twitter

In Brief

Twitter was at the head of all other platforms during its launch in the mid 2000s and quickly became a platform for many people to vent out their suppressed thoughts that were otherwise lost in the dim of more vocal and powerful voices.

However, over the years, it has been mired in controversy due to becoming a hub of trolls that merely vent out their frustration that have nothing to do except constantly criticize successful people on the platform.

But nowadays, the platform is truly in a soup after Elon Musk came up with the offer of purchasing it and approached the company’s founders to strike a deal of a jaw dropping $44 million.

Twitter shareholders has approved of the offer from Elon Musk when they unanimously voted in favour of the deal in early September 2022, which is quite interesting to note as the legal battle between Tesla CEO Musk and Twitter is just a month away on October 17, 2022.

It was in early 2022 when Musk decided to purchase Twitter for a lump sum amount and everyone was shell shocked when he backed out from the deal later in July 2022, a decision that was met with raised eyebrows from common folks and tech experts alike.

Musk seems to have changed his mind as he no longer wants to go ahead with the deal and has therefore written to Twitter multiple times asking them to terminate the deal once and for all.

The reason given by Musk was that Twitter had given an undisclosed amount to a former employee who was reportedly a whistleblower named Peiter Zatko, which Twitter countered that the payment did not breach the terms and conditions of the deal whatsoever.

Conclusion

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see when Twitter and Tesla engage in a courtroom battle beginning October 17 and how this case moves forward as arguments and counter-arguments will be presented from both parties that will lead to interesting twists and turns.

Vedanta Announces Semiconductor Project Worth $20 Million, Selects Gujarat

0
Vedanta
Vedanta

India comprises of 28 states and 7 union territories with Gujarat being considered the most developed state of all by many people. The state has some of the most beautiful monuments and infrastructures that trump many others from other states of India, and that’s saying something given the land mass and diversity of the country.

Vedanta Limited

The latest addition to the monuments was the ‘Statue of Unity’ that was inaugurated on October 31, 2018 on the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose statue is now the tallest in the world at 182m, thereby surpassing the Statue of Liberty by a wide margin.

The state has many other achievements to its credit that cannot be summed up in one article but the latest feather in its cap of accolades is that Vedanta Limited, a multinational mining company based in Mumbai, has selected the renowned state for its upcoming semiconductor project that is in the pipelines for quite some time now.

Brief Summary

Vedanta Limited is going to start the semiconductor project in conjunction with Foxconn, which is an electronics manufacturer based in Taiwan and is worth $20 million for which the company has already acquired financial &non-financial subsidies, capital expenditure, and electricity from Gujarat to start the semiconductor plants.

The project was held up for quite some time as Vedanta Limited needed nearly a 1,000 acres of land with a 99-year lease along with fixed prices for raw materials, including power and water, which prompted other states like Maharashtra and Karnataka, among others, to reach out to the company to volunteer to host the ambitious project.

Although Vedanta Ltd hasn’t yet specified the city or area of the project, it is being highly speculated to happen in Ahmedabad, which will include the display along with semiconductor facilities, and the company wants to leave no stone unturned to get going with the project without further ado.

Both Vedanta Ltd. and Foxconn are due to sign the memorandum of understanding to give the green signal to the ambitious project, so one can expect an official confirmation from either or both sides any time by the end of September 2022.

Vedanta

Conclusion

If the project proves to be successful, then Gujarat will become perhaps one of the best states not just in India but the entire world, given the infrastructure, economy, healthcare, and other advanced facilities it has in comparison to other states of India.

Once the memorandum of understanding is signed between both companies, the project will go ahead and set a huge benchmark for creating semiconductors and will put Gujarat miles ahead of other states.

Even though the company was founded in October 2020, it has achieved a considerable amount of success in less than two years, which is no less than a herculean achievement thereby setting a benchmark for upcoming ventures to follow although given the stiff competition from other brands, it will be difficult to match up to their level.

It was launched by Carl Pei, who is also a co-founder of OnePlus, on 27 January 2021 with extremely high level of hopes as many of its investors were sceptical about the project given that it was launched in the midst of a global pandemic but Mr. Pei was firm in his belief that it will work out fine.

WazirX Bank Accounts Defreeze by Enforcement Directorate; Details Inside

WazirX Bank Accounts
WazirX

We are living in the age of digital India where everything has taken on a digital format and that includes currencies as well. Gone are the days when netizens used to rely on cash for payment because the current central government of India is firm on making the country a cash-less economy, a move that has achieved great success in the post-demonetization phase.

Today more than 95% of payments in India are done through cards and UPIs, which is the short form for Unified Payment Interface and it includes platforms like PayTM, BHIM App, Phone Pay, Google Pay, and others.

The cryptocurrency revolution too happened around a decade back that shot platforms like Bitcoin into the stratosphere thereby allowing others to follow suit as well. India too came up with its own crypto trading platform called WazirX that achieved considerable success with many people relying upon it.

Brief Up

However, WazirX has been going through a rough patch after coming under the radar of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is considered the watchdog for any financial crime happening in India, which froze all its bank accounts worth Rs.64.67 crores citing financial irregularities.

There is good news for the platform in this regard as the latest buzz is that ED has now decided to defreeze their accounts and allow them to continue with their banking operations, which will be an immense sigh of relief for the owners.

WazirX Bank Accounts

ED was investigating the company for 16 fintech companies and instant loan apps by conducting searches and raids on Zanmai Labs, the company that supervises and operates WazirX in India, as they suspected that the companies were bogus.

WazirX, to be on the safer side, provided full cooperation to the authorities by providing all the necessary documents and details of the accused companies that were using the platform for quite some time.

The company was quick to clarify that it had nothing to do with the accused companies by claiming that the platform was being misused by nefarious elements due to which the fintech companies are now being searched from top to bottom by ED, which is conducting all the KYC/AML checks even though it has no legal authority to do so.

WazirX had to go through massive flak from its users who felt that they had been betrayed and started leaving the platform one by one and the company became notorious for engaging in financial fraud.

However, now with their bank accounts unfrozen, the company is ready to start over a new leaf and reaching out to its users on a larger scale because for now, they are free to go about their business as before.

Indian National Cinema Day on September 16; Rs.75 per Ticket

0
Indian National Cinema Day
Movie Tickets

If there is one thing that the people are India are obsessed about, it is cinema with cricket being a close second. These two have been the formidable forms of entertainment in the country for a long, long time.

Indian National Cinema Day

Indian Cinema is now more than a 110 years old and continues to remain a massive craze like no other with its movie stars acquiring almost demi-god like status. Hindi and South cinema are the biggest in the country when it comes to budget.

The South Indian film industry comprises of four languages- Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. 2022 has been an excellent year for the industry with RRR and KGF: Chapter 2 becoming the highest grossers of all time.

Brief Summary

Indian movies have been globally popular although it is stereotyped in the western countries where people know it as ‘Bollywood’ that only makes musical song and dance numbers all the time and it is heartening to see the stereotype getting shattered slowly but surely, which is good as westerners will get to realize the full potential of the industry.

India’s National Cinema Day is set to happen on September 16, 2022, but what is different this year is the massive price drop for the tickets, which is now Rs.75, and this will be for all the theatres in the country, which is an occasion to celebrate the successful opening of all theatres in the post Covid-19 era.

It is a discount offer valid for 24 hours that will be available at more than 4,000 theatres that will be participating for the event and encourage movie obsessed fans to spend a day at the event to watch their movies and elevate artistry to a whole new level.

The biggest national theatre chains of India are PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, among others that have been invited by the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) to screen the biggest releases of the week, which is their way of thanking the general public for reviving the sagging theatre business and making it afloat again.

All the films released during that day will cost the same, irrespective of the language, but it won’t include the additional taxes levied upon online purchases that include websites and third-party apps.

BookMyShow is a relevant website in India that charges additional interest fees along with GST on top of the Rs.75 but if you don’t want to spend that much, then you have no choice but to stand in long queues waiting for your turn.

Brahmastra, which was released on September 9, too will be screened at the event along with a few trailers of upcoming releases and TV ads while Hollywood enthusiasts can watch Spider-Man: No Way Home.
