Infinix Note 11 Review: A decent-looking budget phone with impressive performance

0
Infinix-Note-11-4

Expanding its Note series, Infinix has come up with Note 11 and Note 11S smartphones in India. With these launches, the Transsion’s popular smartphone brand has further augmented its position in the budget segment with loads of features, capturing the void created by Xiaomi and Realme which are now moving up the price scale. These new Note-series smartphones come with some significant improvements such as a fresh new design, an AMOLED display, XOS 10 along with other features. Here, we have the lower variant i.e. Infinix Note 11, priced at Rs 11,999, that we used for a couple of weeks before writing this review.

Design

Breaking away from tradition, the all-new Infinix Note 11 offers a fresh new flat-edged design with rounded corners, and has a matte-gradient finish on the back panel, which is a good transformation as it doesn’t attract fingerprint smudges. Kudos to its flat form factor, the smartphone will give you the feeling of iPhone 12/13 or Oppo Reno 6. It’s quite slim, having a thickness of 7.9 mm with plastic frame on all sides.

Akin to the frame, the rear panel is also made of a high-quality plastic which looks like a glass panel. We had the Glacier Green colour variant for review, although the handset also comes in Celestial Snow and Graphite Black shades. While the front is dominated by a big display having a dewdrop notch for the selfie camera, on the back you’ll get a rectangular rear camera module that houses three lenses – a big one on the top with two small lenses placed horizontally underneath.

The top of the Infinix Note 11 is plain, whereas on the bottom there’s a USB Type-C port, a primary microphone, speaker grills, and a 3.5mm audio jack. While the left side of the device comes with a SIM tray, the right panel offers a power button with a fingerprint sensor embedded on it along with volume rockers.

Overall, it’s a decent looking smartphone which will give you the feeling of a flagship device.

Display

The handset comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 92% screen-to-body ratio and 750 nits of peak brightness. The display comes with a 100% DCI-P3 Color Gamut and a 100000:1 contrast ratio. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The display, as per the company, is one of the biggest changes, which offers a more accurate and sharper colour and detail. Taken as a whole, the display is good for watching all kinds of content and gaming, and the animations are good and smooth.

Platform

The Infinix Note 11 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMCP storage which is expandable via the dedicated microSD card slot. The powerful processor has a CPU clock speed of up to 2 GHz. The smartphone is further backed by ARM Mali – G52 GPU, which is super clocked at up to 1 GHz. The handset has support for Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi, and GPS. It also has stereo speakers and runs Android 11 with XOS 10 on top.

In terms of performance, the processor is good enough for your daily usage and gaming sessions, and does not show any signs of slowing down. The Infinix Note 11 never heated up during my usage and there were no screen freezes. It could also multitask easily between multiple apps.

Besides, the smartphone offers some useful features like X Hide that allow users to hide their banking and financial apps, along with X Clone that duplicates apps. It’s worth use if you have two phone numbers and use WhatsApp on both of them. On the flip side, the smartphone is full of bloatware, which you’ll gradually learn to get rid of.

Cameras

The smartphone houses a triple rear camera setup with the combination of a 50MP primary camera with f/1.6 large aperture, a 2MP depth sensor, and an AI lens along with a Quad-LED flash. For selfies, it houses a 16MP AI camera sensor that sits underneath the waterdrop notch on the front.

Besides, it comes with a video camera with multiple features like Time-lapse video recording mode, Slow Motion video mode, even Bokeh video recording mode, which blurs the background, making the subject stand out by focusing on it. The camera app is straightforward and easy to use, and one can easily switch between different shooting modes.

The shots taken during daylight conditions were good with enough details, whereas they were of average quality in the low light conditions. The Super Night mode allows capturing bright and low noise pictures even in low light conditions. You can also record short videos and videos with up to 2k resolution. The similar story goes on with the front camera. Selfies shot in daylight were decent but average in low light, however thanks to the front flash that did help during night.

Battery

The Infinix Note 11 houses a massive 5,000mAh battery that keeps the smartphone running even after long hours of heavy usage. It’s further backed by a 33W charging support with a Type C charger. The battery backup is capable enough of surviving an entire day even after using it for long gaming sessions. The 33W charging is really fast and it takes nearly an hour to charge the device. Like its predecessors, the all-new Infinix handset stands tall in this department, offering an impressive performance.

Conclusion

The smartphone has got a decent design which will make you feel like holding an iPhone 12/13 in your hand, an impressive AMOLED display, a smooth processor that ensures a great gaming experience, and good cameras which are worth its price. Although it has a couple of bloatware which could be frustrating sometimes, the XOS 10 offered a good user experience. Overall, the smartphone is an upgrade over its predecessor and is a good deal at the given price point.

Amazfit-GTR-3-Pro-1

When it comes to smart wearables, Amazfit – a brand owned by Zepp Health (formerly Huami) – is a name to reckon with. The company recently launched three third-generation GT-series smartwatches, including its inaugural Pro variant called GTR 3 Pro in India. The all-new Amazfit GTR 3 Pro flagship that I had for review, comes with very strong fitness and health tracking credentials, besides offering a decent design and an extraordinary battery life at Rs 18,999. Let’s get into the detail of this smartwatch to find out how worthy it is for your needs.

Design and Build

The Brown Leather variant that we tried and tested looks like a normal watch, thanks to its sleek round body, made of lightweight and durable aircraft-grade aluminium alloy. It can be a perfect fit for you on any occasion and in any environment. The smartwatch comes with two sliders to lock the strap once you put the hook in place, which feels really nice. You don’t need to worry about its position or anything else anymore once you lock the strap of the watch.

You get two rotating buttons on the right side of the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro, which will help you navigate through the settings, features and different workout modes. While the top one brings up the menu, the bottom one opens up a massive list of workouts, sorted based on workout type. It’s very lightweight and will not cause any sort of irritation even in the sweaty weather conditions.

In terms of display, the timepiece sports a 1.45-inch AMOLED Ultra HD display with a screen-to-body ratio of 70.6%. The colours on display come out really good, and everything is easy to read on the screen. The responsiveness of the display happens to be one of the best things with this smartwatch, which does a decent job of adjusting the brightness automatically to meet the needs of your eyes.

Features and Functionalities

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro easily gets connected to you smartphone and will not take much of your time. It uses the company’s proprietary Zepp OS which is an organised and polished operating system that does the things well, as it’s smooth and has no noticeable lag. Upon pairing, the smartwatch will sync all of the data on the mobile app, and it will show your sleep data, workout data, and more in detail.

It offers a lot of features that you would expect from a modern timepiece, including an optical heart rate sensor, blood oxygen monitoring, many sport modes, smart assistant and more. In terms of workout, the list is all-inclusive and pretty much covers everything one can think of i.e. from running and swimming to winter workouts and esports. Many have automatic detection capability, which means you don’t have to worry about forgetting to turn on the required workout.

The BioTracker PPG 3.0 biometric sensor and the 1-tap health metric feature differentiate this smartwatch from rest of the crowd, as these measure four health metrics in under 45 seconds, including heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, stress level and breathing rate. Usually, one needs to run these tests separately, whereas in other cases, some of these metrics are measured automatically in the background. Although this smartwatch also does both, it’s nice to have the option to do a spot check when you want to.

The company offers more than 150 watch faces (including 15 animated and 23 editable ones) with matching always-on-displays. You also get a PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) tracker which is of a great help in understanding the amount of physical activity that you are doing. It’s a very useful tool, as it acts as a motivator as you gather points for your activities. Besides, you get features like app alerts, incoming call and more that you can activate with the help of the Zepp app. You can also set and change your daily activity goals with the Zepp app for your smartwatch.

Performance

In terms of performance, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro does a good job monitoring sleep, and the breakdown of different sleep metrics is displayed clearly in the Zepp app. The device measures heart rate 24/7, logs when it’s elevated and counts that towards your weekly goal of 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity. It performed well with regard to the heart rate accuracy during activities. It’s one of the the most accurate fitness gears I have reviewed till date, and has the potential to compete with others in the given price segment.

Battery Life

The smartwatch offers an excellent battery life of nearly 12 days with typical usage and six days with heavy usage. The sensors at the back pair well with the magnetic charger. One needs to ensure it is locked on when moving the charger around as it gets disconnected from the watch quite easily.

Conclusion

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is one of the best fitness wearables I have used till date. It offers a premium look with a decent display, good companion app, a great battery life, buttery smooth performance and loads of health features, many of which I couldn’t cover in this review. Moreover, you also get the option to access Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant, which is of a great help in today’s hands-free lifestyle. The smartwatch justifies its price and will not let you down.
