The presentation is straightforward and efficient, ensuring that you have everything you need to start using the device immediately.

Nothing here is particularly surprising, but the attention to detail in how everything is arranged speaks volumes about Vivo’s commitment to a user-friendly experience.

It features dimensions of 16.436 cm × 7.510 cm × 0.745 cm and weighs about 186g, making it comfortable to hold and use.

The device is encased in glass, offering a premium look and feel, and available in eye-catching colours: Andaman Blue, Peacock Green, and Classic Black.

I got the Peacock Green colour and it looks gorgeous.

The display is a standout feature, with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen that boasts a peak brightness of 2800 nits, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a resolution of 2800 × 1260 (FHD+).

In my limited time with the phone, the panel ensured vibrant colours, deep blacks, and smooth transitions, whether you were browsing the web, playing games, or watching videos.

The curves on either side of the panel do lend it a premium appeal and the reworked camera island on the back adds to the aesthetics, promising to be a focal point in my full review.

Vivo V30: Camera Capabilities

The Vivo V30 is equipped with an impressive camera setup designed to cater to photography enthusiasts.

The front features a 50 MP AF camera, while the rear setup includes a 50 MP AF+OIS main camera alongside a 50 MP AF wide-angle camera.

This combination of all three lenses being 50MP shooters should promise great versatility in capturing high-quality images across various scenarios.

From my initial time with the device, the camera has proven to be exceptional in daylight conditions, producing images with excellent clarity and detail.

The ultra-wide camera, in particular, stands out for its ability to capture wide vistas without sacrificing image quality.

Although I haven’t fully tested the device in low-light environments, the preliminary results are promising.

The Vivo V30 marks a significant milestone as the first phone in India to harness the power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor.

During my short time with the device, it lived up to expectations, delivering flawless processing across a variety of tasks.

Whether it was navigating through the UI, launching apps, or indulging in intensive gaming sessions, the Vivo V30 handled it all without a hitch, making me a believer of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset.

The device comes with several RAM and storage configurations, giving you the option to suit your needs.

Available configurations include 8 GB + 128 GB, 8 GB + 256 GB, and a top-tier 12 GB + 256 GB variant.

However, even with this consideration, the amount of RAM and storage on offer I feel is ample, and allows for smooth multitasking.

Vivo V30: Software, Features, and Battery

In terms of features, the Vivo V30 is equipped with a host of capabilities that enhance the user experience.

Funtouch OS 14 Global, based on Android 14, is a user-friendly interface with a plethora of customisation options.

My usage of the software skin revealed no drawbacks of note, but I will test it out more thoroughly.

The device supports a wide range of network bands, ensuring excellent connectivity whether you’re on 2G, 3G, 4G, or the latest 5G networks.

It’s also designed with dual SIM users in mind, featuring 5G+5G Dual SIM Standby capability.

The device also includes Wi-Fi (2.4G, 5G), Bluetooth 5.4, USB Type-C, and GPS support, although it lacks NFC and FM radio functionalities.

Battery life is another area where the Vivo V30 aims to impress, with a 5000 mAh battery complemented by 80W fast charging support.

It has been Vivo’s signature trait to cram in large batteries in a rather thin chassis size.

My usage for the time being has been promising as far as the battery life goes, but let’s see what happens in the full review.

Vivo V30: Verdict

My initial impressions reveal a device that not only continues Vivo’s tradition of offering exceptional photography capabilities at a competitive price but also sets a new benchmark in performance with the first introduction of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor in India.

The device’s ample RAM and storage options, along with its robust feature set including 5G+5G Dual SIM Standby and 80W fast charging, further enhance its appeal.

Upon lifting the lid, the first thing that meets your eye is the handset itself, its elegant design and prominent features immediately catching your attention.

Tucked underneath the handset, you’ll find the 45W charger, neatly placed.

Accompanying the charger is a USB Type-C cable, a crucial accessory for powering up the device and transferring data.

A separate section of the box houses a transparent silicone cover.

The box also contains standard documentation, offering vital details about the device, and a SIM card removal tool, a necessary gadget for installing your SIM card into the phone.

Holding the Realme 12 5G for the first time, I was impressed by how cleanly it retained the signature look that set its older siblings apart.

In my opinion, this choice contributes a lot to its premium feel and also ensures that the device stands out in its price segment.

The craftsmanship is evident in every aspect of its construction, from the sunburst dial, which creates a light gradient UV texture, to the polished PVD edges that further enhance its appeal.

I have with me the Twilight Purple colour combination which looks just lovely shimmering in the sunlight.

Weighing in at just 188g and with a slim profile of 7.69mm, the device is remarkably comfortable for extended use.

Moving on to the display the Realme 12 5G is equipped with a 6.72-inch FHD+ screen.

It boasts a 91.4% screen-to-body ratio and the colour reproduction is decent, thanks to its capability to display 16.7 million colours.

Moreover, the 120Hz refresh rate eliminates any blur during fast-paced scenes in games or while scrolling.

The flexibility of having 6-level dynamic refresh rates (45Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz) is also a thoughtful touch.

On the flip side, while the display of the Realme 12 5G is impressive in many respects, it’s only fair to address a few aspects where it falls short of expectations.

First, despite the commendable peak brightness of up to 950 nits, I couldn’t help but feel that the overall brightness could be slightly better in outdoor usage.

Another noteworthy point is that the display technology used here is not AMOLED.

At this price point, AMOLED screens have become increasingly common, offering deeper blacks and more vibrant colours compared to the LCD panel found on the Realme 12 5G.

Additionally, there’s a slight off-axis color shift noticeable when viewing the screen from an angle.

Although this is a common trait among LCD panels, it’s something that could have been mitigated with better technology or calibration.

Despite these drawbacks, the display of the Realme 12 5G remains a strong selling point for everyday use, gaming, and media consumption.

Realme 12 5G: Camera Exploration

Exploring the camera capabilities of the Realme 12 5G, I do appreciate the device’s dual-camera optical setup.

The highlight is a 108MP sensor with a 24mm equivalent focal length and an f/1.8 aperture, which proved to be a powerhouse during my daylight photography excursions.

Its fast shutter speeds and decent focusing capabilities made capturing high-quality images a breeze.

The dynamic range was particularly commendable, ensuring that photos captured in daylight were not just good but impressive.

The ability to take up to 3X optical zoom crop-ins without significant loss of detail, thanks to the high megapixel count, was a feature I found incredibly useful for capturing distant subjects with clarity.

However, the addition of a 2MP portrait camera felt somewhat superfluous to me.

In a time when software can adeptly handle background separation and portrait effects, a dedicated macro shooter might have been a more practical choice.

The portrait shots, while decent, didn’t stand out, underscoring my belief that software alone could achieve similar, if not better, results in background separation.

Night photography with the Realme 12 5G was as expected for its price bracket.

The AI-based scene detection that attempted to brighten images was a welcome feature, though I noticed focusing speeds took a hit in low-light conditions.

Night mode was more than decent, enhancing my image details to a large degree, albeit sometimes oversaturating colours more than my preference.

The front-facing 8MP selfie camera delivered detailed selfies and supported my video calling needs adequately.

While the Cinematic Bokeh mode was hit-or-miss, standard portrait mode shots generally looked good.

Daylight photography with the Realme 12 5G’s camera setup was where it shone brightest, offering a level of detail and color accuracy that is competitive at this price point.

Although it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the Realme 12 Pro+ in terms of color accuracy or detail.

As for the performance of the Realme 12 5G, I find myself pleasantly surprised by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ 5G chipset at its core.

This processor, featuring an 8-core configuration with two A76 cores at 2.2 GHz and six A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, strikes a balance between handling demanding tasks smoothly and ensuring energy efficiency for prolonged battery life.

Although the Realme 12 5G may not boast the most powerful processor in its price range, its performance is commendably solid and is evident from the 95% of its maximum performance being maintained even under significant load.

Also, I think the option of expanding the RAM virtually is a growing trend that all OEMs should adopt.

The top configuration offers up to 6GB of RAM plus 256GB of storage, with the possibility of 6GB more via virtual swap.

The Realme 12 5G introduces the upgraded Mini Capsule 2.0, enhancing user interaction and visual appeal across several functionalities.

It incorporates dynamic animations in music playback, showing a rhythm bar that changes color with the music for an immersive experience.

The weather feature provides timely updates with a unique animation once daily post 6 AM, offering a glance at the day’s weather as the device is unlocked.

For calendar events, I get animation alerts for upcoming activities with details on start times, subtly enhancing time management.

Additionally, an upgraded step counter animation is also there but I do have doubts concerning the veracity of its results.

What I don’t like is the constant ads being pushed after installing an app.

Apart from that the bloatware issue in RealmeUI persists.

The Realme 12 5G’s battery life and charging capabilities are pretty good. The device is equipped with a massive 5000mAh battery and offers satisfactory endurance, comfortably supporting extended usage without frequent recharges.

I got about 6 hours of screen-on time with moderate usage, which is something I expect at this price range.

This capacity is particularly notable given the device’s rather form factor and what I found more impressive was the 45W SUPERVOOC charging technology, which rapidly powers the device to 50 percent in just about 30 minutes.

Realme 12 5G: Final Verdict

The Realme 12 5G feels like a noteworthy contender in the competitive sub-Rs 20,000 segment, providing me with a balance between performance, design, and features.

Even without its premium pricetag it’s a robust offering in terms of design, display, camera capabilities, and battery life.

Through my experience, it delivered on several fronts, offering a versatile and satisfying user experience that is hard to overlook for its price point.

With an attractive introductory price tag of Rs 1,999, expectations were high as I delved into what this device had to offer.

The packaging was neat and functional, housing the earbuds, a charging case, USB-C cable for charging, extra ear tips for a customized fit, and a user manual.

Everything one needs to get started was included, setting a positive tone for what was to come.

The first thing that struck me about the Z40 Ultra was its minimalist yet sophisticated design.

Holding them, I felt a sense of premium craftsmanship that isn’t always present in products at this price point.

The earbuds fit snugly in my ears, providing a secure fit that instilled confidence during my jogs and workouts.

As mentioned there are a variety of silicon tips available so that you get the size that fits you.

The touch controls responded with precision to my inputs, making the interaction seamless and intuitive.

Their lightweight design meant I could wear them for hours without any discomfort, a crucial aspect for someone who uses earbuds extensively throughout the day.

It is also very easy to take the earbuds out of the case.

Speaking of which the case itself has a stealthy matte-black colour combo and textured material on the outside.

Diving into the features, the Z40 Ultra proved to be more than just a pair of earbuds.

The active noise cancellation feature was a game-changer for me.

Whether I was in a crowded cafe or amidst city traffic, it allowed me to immerse myself fully in my music.

The dual device connectivity enhanced my productivity, letting me switch between my laptop and smartphone effortlessly.

The inclusion of features like fast charging and IPX5 water resistance not only added to its versatility but also to its durability, making it an all-weather companion.

Unfortunately, the Z40 Ultra does not have any kind of companion app on iOS so customisation is a bit of a limit with these TWS.

Boult Z40 Ultra: Sound Quality, ANC, and Microphone

Diving into my experience with the Boult Z40 Ultra, the sound quality immediately stood out.

Boult talks of a SonicCore Dynamic processor in the Z40 Ultra which assists with the audio enhancements.

The balanced sound signature, with its emphasis on clarity and detail, made every genre of music I played through them resonate beautifully.

Listening to “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish, the bass felt deep and punchy, enriching the song’s moody ambiance without overshadowing the mids.

The balanced mids brought out the warmth and clarity in “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, making it feel like a personal performance.

When it came to classical pieces like Beethoven’s “Symphony No.9,” the crisp highs illuminated the symphony’s intricate details, showcasing the Z40 Ultra’s capability to deliver a broad and immersive soundstage.

The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology enhanced this experience further by effectively muting up to 32dB of external noise, allowing me to lose myself in the music, regardless of my surroundings.

It provided an immersive listening experience that few earbuds in this price range can match.

Moreover, the microphone quality significantly bolstered my call experiences.

The quad-mic setup with environmental noise cancellation (ENC) ensured my voice was transmitted clearly, reducing background noise effectively.

Whether I was in a noisy café or amidst city traffic, calls were crystal clear, making the Z40 Ultra not just a fantastic musical companion but also a reliable tool for both personal and professional communication.

The ENC also proved invaluable for voice assistant commands, recognizing them accurately even in noisy environments.

There’s also some low latency mode for gaming but I couldn’t test that out thoroughly.
