Windows 11 allows insiders Rip CDs through Media Player

Microsoft has been on a roll since quite some time by churning out something new every now and then. The latest news is that it is rolling out app dates to insiders regarding Windows 11 that includes the addition of ripping CDs through media player.

Audio CD

This will allow the media player to rip CDs thereby gaining the ability to save content data in a number of file formats. Microsoft has also revealed new updates regarding the camera app, Movies and TV app for insiders running Windows 11.

The camera app has a glossed look to give it a contemporary feel that aligns with Windows 11 apart from gaining support for scanning QR codes and bar codes and a few other conveniences.

We could play CDs through the media player app thanks to Microsoft back in March but now with the added support of ripping content from CDs has indeed brightened things up several notches.

Microsoft has also added new features in the Movies & TV app to make movie watching an entertaining experience on Army64 devices through which you’ll get a superior performance compared to previous versions.

Samsung India is eyeing $1 billion this year through M-Series smartphones

Samsung India, a tech giant in electronics, is aiming for a huge surge in fortunes by aiming for an extremely difficult, if not impossible, target of selling Galaxy M-Series smartphones worth $1 billion this year, revealed an insider.

samsung

The first of the year was a good one for the company as revealed by Aditya Babbar, senior director and production management head as there was a 20% year-on-year growth in terms of value.

The number of users for M-Series smartphones was 42 million back in 2019 but Samsung India has much bigger plans in store for their loyal fanbase for 2022 as they hope they achieve the $1 billion target by the end of the year through the launch of Galaxy M13 and Galaxy M13 5G.

M13 5G will have 6GB internal memory and 128GB external memory whose starting price will be around Rs 15,999 while M13 will start from Rs 13,999 with a 4GB internal memory and 64GB external memory and last but not least, the external storage for M13 series will be 1 terabyte.

With an unprecedented growth in value market from 20% in 2021 to 22.6% from January to May 2022, as per Counterpoint Research, Samsung is hoping to go bigger and better to recover from the setback of losses incurred due to Covid-19.

Android Smartphone users issued ‘Warning remainder’ from Whatsapp CEO

Whatsapp CEO Will Cathcart issued a warning to all Android smartphone users in a long thread of tweets where he asked users not to download fake or modified versions of the app as he feel they might violate Whatsapp data privacy and security measures.

whastapp

Company researches have also discovered a devious Android app that goes by the name of ‘Hey Whatsapp’ that claims to promise newer features and fast speed when in fact it is a scam that aims to steal personal info stored in their users’ smartphones.

Cathcart claimed that he has discussed this problem with Google and has worked out a solution to give a strict retaliation to these devious apps as now they can be detected and disabled through Google Play Protect on Android.

The CEO also advised users to encourage friends and family to only use Whatsapp from a reliable app store and delete any other versions of Whatsapp as it can become a serious problem in the future.

Such third party versions are poor copies of Whatsapp that violate its terms and service whose sole aim is to steal personal information by invading the phones of gullible users and use it for their devious interests.

While this warning is for everyone due to Whatsapp having billions of users globally, India is one of its biggest markets as well as for Google’s Android operating system due to which it is a big target for frauds.

Android Talkback Screen Reader Setup

Android Reader

We all know the importance of having a mobile phone in our lives. It becomes an even bigger necessity for people that are physically disabled. Those who are visually impaired need to keep a mobile phone handy in case of an emergency.

They have a problem in reading and typing messages on their mobile phone, which is why a screen reader is an important tool that’ll help them out in this matter as it can read texts and image descriptions in a number of devices.

Android phones and tablets too are have this feature, which is extremely helpful for people that have poor eyesight or are visually impaired but now they can manage typing and reading very easily on their smartphone.

TalkBack is the name of the screen reading tool for most Android devices that you can enable and disable at will with the help of some simple steps. Samsung users would be aware of TalkBack by the name of Voice Assistant as it is labelled in older versions like One UI 3.1 but the following steps are for people that use Samsung devices.

Steps

The procedure for enabling TalkBack feature is the same for all Android devices with the help of following steps following which it will be enabled and perform the tasks it is meant for.

The first step is to go to the Settings option on your Android phone and click on the option ‘Accessibility’.

Next, you select the screen reader, which will be under the name ‘TalkBack’ and toggle the option ‘Voice Assistant’, which might be labelled as ‘Use TalkBack’.

A shortcut way of turning on TalkBack is by holding down both the volume rockers of your smartphone/device for 3 seconds and if you haven’t enabled this way, the device will ask you to enable it.

Once this shortcut way has been activated, you can use the buttons for three seconds to operate TalkBack.

Sometimes the device may not tell you about the shortcut option so in such circumstances you can go to the Settings option and alter your screen description and how you speak about the list.

You may customize your menu by enabling vibration feedback but this is only for those that use TalkBack on a frequent basis.

Google Assistant is also a good option for enabling TalkBack but first you must make sure that the command features of its voice are enabled. Google Assistant can be activated through the Google app where you select your profile pic at the top right hand corner of the screen and go to Settings where you click on Google Assistant.

Android Reader

You need to select Hey Google & Voice Match following which you need to say “Hey Google, Activate TalkBack” so that it activates immediately and then “Hey Google, turnoff TalkBack” to disable it.

Aadhaar Face Authentication Service App launched by UIDAI

The Aadhaar card has become the very identity for an official citizen of India. It forms the core basis of all its holders through which they now have a specific identification number that will help determine their legality as citizens.

Adhar card

UIDAI has now come out with a new process for verifying the identity of all Aadhaar card holders, which is the Face Authentication Service app through which the real identity of the holder will be confirmed.

It is the RD Service app for Aadhaar face authentication through which the Aadhaar Authentication Use Agencies or AUA will capture the live person’s face for authenticating the process.

This new process is a revolutionary feature as the genuine identity of the cardholder is validated and recorded in the UIDAI database which is already captured at the time of Aadhaar enrolment.

This will help in nabbing frauds that create a fake identity using details of another person’s Aadhaar card and get all the benefits and schemes that are meant for its true owner.

iPhone iOS
iPhone iOS

The official release of iOS 16 is just around the corner with many rumour mills speculating that it will come out by the end of the year 2022 and along with the regular updates, Apple also announced some new features that will make this new model unique in itself.

The new iOS 16 will have built-in keyboard haptics so that the user can feel the vibrations while typing the keys, which were earlier occurred only when you typed an incorrect passcode or key and holding on to the screen to open a file to reveal its contents, but not the keyboard.

IPhone users have a chance to rejoice because with the keyboard upgrade they need not download a third party software as they can now accept haptics for which the credit goes to the Taptic Engine Technology by Apple.

Keyboard haptics will come in handy as it will keep track on what you’re typing and whether it is correct or not, which makes it a viable confirmation tool to rely upon. For those that keep their phone silent all day, keyboard haptics will act as a substitute for clicks without letting anyone know that you’re typing.

iPhone iOS

Enabling Feature

Upon downloading iOS 16 on your iPhone, haptics is disabled so you need to enable the feature through the following steps.

First you go to ‘Settings’ option and tap ‘Sound & Haptics’ following which you scroll down and select ‘Keyboard Feedback’ and finally, you have to tap the toggle so that Haptics is enabled.

You can also simultaneously disable the sounds of the keyboard on your iPhone once the device update is complete.

It is quite an interesting feature that you can try out that will help improve your typing skills.
