The Aadhaar card has become one of the most sought-after documents these days. Ranging from banking needs to hotel check-in, and a host of other places where producing your Aadhar card is mandatory.

Aadhar card works as a proof of residence and allows users to get benefits under various schemes offered by the government. Additionally, having an Aadhar card is a necessity for getting other documents and services such as a passport and a bank locker among others.

Gone are the days when you needed to visit an Aadhar center to get a hard or soft copy of your identity proof. E-Aadhar can be easily downloaded by using Aadhaar numbers, dates of birth, and enrollment numbers.

The e-Aadhaar card is a password-protected electronic copy of your Aadhaar that is digitally signed by the UIDAI, which in turn assures its authenticity. You can download e-Aadhar from the official website of the UIDAI. Follow this step-by-step guide to download e-Aadhaar card online.


How to download e-Aadhaar card using Aadhaar number

Step 1: Visit the Aadhaar official website or https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/genricDownloadAadhaar.

Step 2: Now select the ‘Aadhaar Number’ option.

Step 3: Fill in your 12-digit Aadhaar number, security code, and then click on the ‘send OTP’ option to get the one-time password. You will get the OTP on your registered mobile number. So, it is advised to keep your mobile number updated on the Aadhar record.

Step 4: Now you need to enter the OTP and click on the ‘Verify and Download’ option.

Step 5: After completion of the verification process, you will be able to find a password-protected PDF of the Aadhaar card in your Downloads folder. You need to enter an eight-character password to open the file. The password will be a combination of the first four letters of your name in capital letters and year of birth in YYYY format.


How to download e-Aadhaar Card using date of birth

Step 1: Visit Aadhaar website, https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/retrieve-eid-uid.

Step 2: You need to enter your full name and registered e-mail ID or mobile number. Then add the security code.

Step 3: After filling the details, you need to click the ‘Send OTP’ option.

Step 4: Fill in the OTP received on your mobile number and click on the ‘Verify OTP’ option.

Step 5: An alert message saying that the Aadhaar number has been sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 6: Open the e-Aadhaar page on the official UIDAI website

Step 7: On your registered mobile number, enter your 28-digit enrolment ID or 12-digit Aadhaar number, the security code and the tap the ‘Send OTP’ option.

Step 8: Enter the OTP that you received on your registered mobile number and tap the ‘Verify and Download’ option to download your e-Aadhaar card.

Steps to download e-Aadhaar Card using enrolment number

Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website, www.uidai.gov.in.

Step 2: Now, you need to click ‘Download Aadhaar’. After selecting the option you will be redirected to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/genricDownloadAadhaar.

Step 3: You will be asked to fill in your 28-digit enrolment ID and security code. After filling all the details click on the ‘Send OTP’ option to generate an OTP.

Step 4: Now enter the OTP and click on the ‘Verify and download’ option. You will be able to download a copy of the e-Aadhaar card on your device.
