Ahead of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra European launch, Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone – the Xiaomi 14 series has been spotted on the IMEI database. Folks at GSMChina spotted two upcoming Xiaomi flagships – the Xiaomi 14 and the Xiaomi 14 Pro on the IMEI database.

The IMEI database listing doesn’t reveal the moniker of the handsets but it does reveal the model number of upcoming Xiaomi smartphones. The variants of the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro that are spotted on the IMEI database are for Chinese as well as global regions.

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will be the successors of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro and are expected to be unveiled by the end of 2023 in Xiaomi’s domestic market – China.

The certification listing suggests that the Xiaomi 14 Pro had model numbers 23116PN5BC (C represents Chinese variant) and 23116PN5BG.

Whereas, model numbers 23127PN0CC and 23127PN0CG (G represents global variant) correspond to vanilla Xiaomi 14. On the basis of initial digits – 2311 and 2312 of these model numbers, we can speculate the Xiaomi 14 series to make a debut sometime in November or December in the Chinese market.

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Folks at GSMChina claim that the processor’s codename is pineapple. Qualcomm is yet to unveil Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC but going by a leak, it might make a debut by October 2023.

A few days back, noted Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station had revealed that the Xiaomi 14 Pro will be powered by a Qualcomm SM8650 processor.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is tipped to feature a 5000mAh battery unit. It might feature support for 50W wireless charging. The Xiaomi 14 Pro is said to come in two variants – flat screen and curved screen. The Xiaomi 14 Pro flat screen variant might feature support for 90W fast charging.

Realme is gearing up for the launch of the C53 as its new budget smartphone. The new Realme C-series smartphone will launch in Malaysia on June 6 and is likely to debut in other markets in the coming weeks. Realme has not confirmed any details about the phone’s India availability.

However, Indian customers are not missing out on the phone as the C53 is essentially a rebadged version of the Narzo N53, which was launched earlier this month in India. We say so as the official Realme Malaysia website has revealed the design and the key specifications of the phone.

The C53 has a flat frame and body. It will be launched in Malaysia in two colour options.

Realme today has announced the latest addition to its 2023 entry-level smartphone line-up with the all-new realme C53. Most interestingly, the company also revealed that the device will make its first debut in Malaysia next week on 6 June 2023, ahead of other markets around the world.

Apart from its design, a lot of details surrounding the realme C53, such as its specifications, are still kept under wraps.

Based on the provided promo image, the phone unmistakably shares an almost uncanny resemblance to current generation iPhones but with a textured finish on its rear panel, which the company dubs as “Shiny Champion”.

So far, there are only two colourways shown: Champion Gold and Mighty Black.
realme also revealed that its new entry-level smartphone will be the second device to come with the brand’s Dynamic Island-like Mini Capsule feature.

Imaging-wise, the new entry-level smartphone is said to feature a 50MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor, while the third module on its iPhone-like arrangement actually houses a flash unit. In front, found within the display’s punch-hole cutout is believed to be an 8MP selfie camera.

The bug affects regular and WhatsApp Business users on Android 12 and 13. The crash loop only happens when clicking on the chat containing the link.

Ahead of the launch, the CAD renders of the iPhone 16 Pro series smartphones were leaked. These smartphones will launch in September 2024, and the camera design and specifications were also tipped recently.

We’re currently looking forward to Apple’s annual iPhone refresh — the iPhone 15 — likely to be revealed in September. Leaks and rumours have provided valuable insight into the direction Apple is taking with its upcoming smartphone lineup.

A report originating from ChargerLab now suggests that the Cupertino-based electronics giant will offer the Qi2 wireless charging standard on the next-gen iPhones, unlocking 15W wireless charging for non-MagSafe chargers.

We’re taking this revelation with a grain of salt, given that the WPC (Wireless Power Consortium) took the wraps off the latest Qi2 charging standard only recently at CES 2023.

As iPhone users are likely aware already, the existing crop of iPhones, such as the iPhone 14, only supports 15W wireless charging on MagSafe-supported accessories. The phones can only charge at 7.5W while using a standard third-party Qi wireless charger.

If true, this move would signal a drastic shift in how Apple handles third-party charging accessories. The company usually likes to hold a firm grip on third-party accessories, restricting users to either buying an expensive MFi or Apple-certified product or facing the risk of not being able to use the device to its full potential.

A potential game-changer for third-party wireless chargers?

With the rumoured inclusion of the Qi2 wireless charging standard on the iPhone 15, a wide range of manufacturers would be able to sell supported chargers at a fraction of the MagSafe accessory’s price.

As we mentioned above, it’s too early to jump to conclusions since Apple usually isn’t the quickest to launch a newly released tech. But we’re hopeful to see this on board, considering the fact that other smartphone makers have long breached the 15W wireless charging barrier.

The previous limitation on wireless charging speed is similar to the restriction of non-MFi-certified products. MFi is a certification introduced by Apple where manufacturers are required to obtain a license to manufacture accessories for Apple.

The introduction of support for the Qi2 standard will bring down the cost of wireless chargers to one-third of Magsafe chargers. The wireless charging manufacturers wouldn’t be required to obtain MFi certification, which will help them to keep the costs low.

The Qi2 standard already supports wireless charging in iPhones. An official announcement from Apple is required to know the exact charging speed of Qi2 wireless chargers. Recently, a report revealed that Apple would upgrade the primary rear camera sensor on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus smartphones.

Apple used a 12MP sensor with the vanilla models since the launch of the iPhone 6S. The upcoming vanilla models will feature a 48MP sensor introduced with iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

However, according to a Weibo post picked up by news aggregator account “yeux1122” on the Korean Naver blog, the iPhone 15 series will be capable of open 15W wireless magnetic charging using non-MFM certified chargers, which are usually more affordable alternatives to those with Apple certification.

The rumor has not yet been verified as coming from a reliable source, but the claim does make sense given that Apple is contributing to a new version of the Qi open standard that works much like MagSafe.
