  • OnePlus Open offers the best folding display with high brightness and color accuracy.
  • Outshines competitors with advanced camera sensors and great images.
  • Enhanced gaming experience with 240Hz touch sampling rate.
  • Offers Open Canvas software and extended Android update support.

Folding phones have become something of an enigma now.

Everyone wants to try something different and every day it feels that new OEMs emerge who have perfected the complex manufacturing of folding hardware.

But there are always problems.

Samsung took 5 generations to figure it out.

A couple of Chinese makers have now a few iterations of their respective folding devices under their belt.

However, there was never that perfect folding phone, something you would recommend buying outright, no matter the outlandish cost.

Until now, when OnePlus became the latest entrant into the folding phone market with a breath of fresh air that they termed: OnePlus Open.

Not the best name, granted. The OnePlus Open sounds more like a live event than the name of Rs 1,40,000 smartphone.

Yes, that is the price.

There’s nothing budget about this device.

But perhaps that’s what OnePlus wanted.

Showcase its absolute premium hardware, wrap it up in a folding screen, and present it to the world as a technological marvel.

I have been using this device for a few weeks now and I have some thoughts.

In this review of the OnePlus Open let’s find out if this is the best folding phone in the market.

OnePlus Open: Design and Build

OnePlus Open: Design and Build
OnePlus Open: Design & Build

What instantly stands out about the OnePlus Open is the design.

It deviates from the taller dimensions of Samsung’s Galaxy Fold series and avoids the shorter, passport-like dimensions seen in some other foldables in the global market.

Instead, it finds a middle ground, potentially appealing to users who are looking for a balance between size and portability.

Apart from that, the phone’s physical aspects also contribute significantly to its overall user experience.

The Emerald Dusk colour variant, with its matte finish, offers a less slippery grip and added protection against scratches and fingerprints.

However, there is a protective case inside the OnePlus Open box, a feature omitted by competitors like Samsung and Google.

Durability is understandably a concern when people talk about folding devices.

OnePlus’s claim that the device survives at least a million folds (approximately 547 folds per day over five years) should definitely alleviate some concerns.

In practice, the device held up well during a two week testing period despite the form factor being generally conspicuous and attracting attention.

Furthermore, the OnePlus Open’s IPX4 rating for water resistance, while not as high as the Galaxy Z Fold5’s IPX8, still provides a degree of durability assurance.

The final touches on the device include the power button on the side along with the volume rockers that are positioned just above it.

I will talk about the extremely large camera hump on the back as well, later in the review.

OnePlus Open: Display Proficiency

OnePlus Open: Display Proficiency
OnePlus Open: Display Proficiency

OnePlus has ensured that both the cover and main screens are of top quality.

The cover screen of the OnePlus Open, often referred to as the external screen measures 6.3-inch in size that not only offers a super-smooth 120Hz refresh rate but also achieves a remarkable peak brightness of 2600 nits.

What’s more it’s almost in the perfect aspect ratio to operate it without unfolding the display, a trick many OEMs have yet to master.

But coming now to the main attraction, which is definitely the phone’s inner display, a massive 7.82-inch screen, that matches the cover screen in quality and performance.

The immediate difference you will notice with contemporary foldable devices is the lack of crease in the middle.

It was basically imperceptible until you were directly looking for it.

In fact, it didn’t even feel it when gliding my fingers over it.

The display is fine in all regards, be it colour accuracy, brightness levels, or contrast ratios.

I watched so much content on the device that I was more or less giddy with joy everytime the device touched my hand.

It’s no exaggeration to say that this is the best folding display to ever grace the markets. OnePlus has done a stellar job despite its novice nature in the world of folding devices.

However, the screen does get dinged pretty easily, being made of plastic and all, so advise caution when using it too extensively.

The inclusion of a quad-speaker setup, support for Dolby Vision, and the Cinematic ‘Reality’ Audio feature make this the ideal portable video streaming companion.

Sure the aspect ratio is 1:1, not very ideal for most content that is shot in 16:9. However, just a tap and those black borders on the top and bottom are reduced by half.

It isn’t too much of a stretch to say that the OnePlus Open is a multimedia master.

A Complete Camera Overview

OnePlus Open: Display Proficiency
OnePlus Open: Camera

The OnePlus Open’s camera system is not an afterthought and in fact, can be considered a standout feature.

It boasts an array of lenses that cater to a variety of photographic needs, elevating the device’s camera capabilities above many of its competitors in the foldable segment.

The primary 48MP camera, equipped with a Sony LYTIA 808 sensor, utilizes stacked-sensor technology to enhance light capture and processing.

This results in faster and more efficient photography, especially in well-lit conditions. Crisp visuals and excellent dynamic range were given in sunny outdoor conditions.

That much is expected from nearly Rs 1,50,000 devices.

The 64MP telephoto lens, with its 3X optical zoom, is particularly noteworthy for its large sensor size, unprecedented in foldable phones.

In my day-to-day usage, it produced sharp, natural images with rich bokeh effects, maintaining clarity even at higher zoom levels like 6x.

Additionally, the 48MP ultra-wide camera and the 32MP and 20MP selfie cameras on the outer and inner displays, respectively, offer versatility and quality, suitable for various photographic scenarios.

Even the colour temperature settings are quite optimised so that they are at par with the primary LYTIA sensor, which is commendable.

OnePlus has made a proper effort to optimize the camera experience on the OnePlus Open, particularly with the long-standing integration of Hasselblad’s tuning and colour science.

This partnership is evident in the camera’s performance, with images displaying Hasselblad’s signature colour accuracy and vibrancy.

In my analysis of photos captured, the handset’s ability to snap scenes with a natural colour balance and avoid over-saturation while maintaining detail and clarity, is quite extraorindary.

Apart from that, the telephoto lens especially shines in low-light conditions, bringing out depth and detail that rival even traditional flagship cameras.

The camera app’s default settings, offering magnifications like 0.6x, 2x, 3x, and 6x, are thoughtfully chosen to suit most photographic needs, from wide landscapes to detailed portraits.

As for the video shooting skills, the device does a more than decent job with its 4K@120 fps footage but it still is little match for the iPhone’s prodigious ability to capture cinema-grade footage

The overall camera performance of the OnePlus Open, particularly in broad daylight, is impressive.

It captures scenes with stunning colour accuracy, depth, and clarity, a testament to the device’s advanced sensor technology.

However, the camera’s performance in low light and its capability to reduce noise while retaining details, however, are areas where it slightly lags behind flagship models from brands like Samsung, Apple, and Google.

Nevertheless, the OnePlus Open represents a significant step forward in addressing the common issue of subpar camera quality in foldable phones.

With its warm and punchy tones, versatile lens options, and Hasselblad’s unique filters and XPan mode for panoramic shots, the OnePlus Open not only competes with but in some aspects, surpasses its counterparts in the foldable smartphone market.

OnePlus Open: Performance and Features

OnePlus Open: Display Proficiency
OnePlus Open: Performance

The OnePlus Open demonstrates exceptional performance, largely attributed to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, identical to the one found in several other high-end Android flagships this year.

Coupled with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, this configuration ensures a robust and efficient operational experience.

In benchmarking tests, the OnePlus Open performs on par with other devices using the same processor.

You can check out our test scores on the top and you will find that whatever the task thrown at the OnePlus Open, the device performs exceptionally well.

Its gaming performance stands out, particularly with its 240Hz touch sampling rate, offering a more responsive experience than competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.

However, a minor increase in temperature is noticeable when using the camera app for prolonged periods, a common trait in modern smartphones but not a significant concern.

During my routine use, the device exhibited seamless performance across various applications, from app-switching to gaming and media consumption.

The device’s 120Hz display on both the cover and main screens contributes to a fluid and responsive user experience.

However, the phone’s orientation sensitivity, a trait inherent to Android’s design, can be a minor inconvenience.

Apps that support a tablet-like layout often require the device to be in landscape mode for optimal display, and determining the correct orientation on the OnePlus Open can sometimes require readjustment.

This contrasts with devices like the Google Pixel Fold, which opens directly into landscape mode.

Other features on the device of course include the quad-speaker setup, an exceptionally loud implementation that makes audio consumption quite a joy to behold.

The side-mounted fingerprint sensor is also solid and unlocks the device in a jiffy. No problems were faced from my side with the phone’s network capabilities.

OnePlus Open: Software Support and UI

OnePlus Open: Display Proficiency
OnePlus Open: Software Support

The OnePlus Open operates on Oxygen OS 13.2, which brings a slew of app enhancements and features tailored to maximize the utility of the phone’s large inner display.

It borrows heavily from the interface and customizations seen in the recently launched OnePlus Pad, offering a familiar user experience with added functionalities.

A standout feature is the Open Canvas software, which allows users to open and use up to three apps side by side in a split-screen format.

This feature is particularly user-friendly, offering intuitive gestures like a four-finger pinch to view all open apps simultaneously and a spread-out gesture to exit Full View mode.

Also, OnePlus has very carefully thought out the UI with its integration of a floating taskbar for enhanced usability.

The ability to split apps on the main screen is of course well received leveraging the foldable format for increased productivity.

In terms of software support, OnePlus promises four years of major Android updates. This means the OnePlus Open is expected to receive updates up to Android 17 by 2027.

Additionally, security support extends a year longer, ensuring the device remains protected from vulnerabilities until 2028.

While this extended support window is commendable, it is worth noting that the industry trend is shifting towards even longer support periods, as evidenced by Google’s recent promise of seven years of software support for its Pixel 8 series.

OnePlus Open: Battery Life and Charging

OnePlus Open: Battery Life and Charging
OnePlus Open: Battery Life and Charging

Battery life is a significant aspect of the OnePlus Open’s overall performance, especially considering the demands of its dual screens.

Equipped with a 4805mAh battery, this foldable phone does well in terms of battery longevity, consistently lasting over a day on a single charge under mixed usage.

Staying true to the OnePlus brand’s reputation for quick recharge times, the OnePlus Open packs in a 67W fast charging support, allowing it to recharge from empty to 100% in approximately 50 minutes.

This rapid charging capability means minimal downtime, ensuring users can quickly return to full battery capacity without long waiting periods.

Unlike many flagship phones, the OnePlus Open also includes a fast charger in the box.

In practical use, the OnePlus Open’s battery performance holds up admirably against traditional candybar phones.

My day-to-day with the device included browsing, gaming, streaming, and work-related tasks, on both the displays.

However, intensive usage, especially watching HDR videos on a larger inner screen, can impact battery life more significantly.

OnePlus Open: Final Verdict

OnePlus Open: Final Verdict
OnePlus Open: Final Verdict

The OnePlus Open, priced at Rs 1,39,999, is arguably the best foldable smartphone currently available.

This premium device justifies its high price tag through a combination of cutting-edge technology and exceptional performance.

Surpassing its competitors in several key areas, the OnePlus Open is a compelling package for those seeking the pinnacle of foldable phone technology.

No phone is without its flaws and while there are some drawbacks on the Open, such as the 1:1 aspect ratio which may not suit all types of content, and the higher susceptibility to screen damage due to its plastic composition, these are overshadowed by its strengths.

The phone excels with its superior camera setup, featuring Hasselblad tuning and high-end sensors, excellent software, powerful performance, and premium design.

Additionally, the audio and display quality is more than remarkable, enhancing the overall multimedia experience.

The OnePlus Open checks all the boxes for what a premium foldable phone should offer: innovative design, a brilliant display, robust performance, and a versatile camera.

It’s not a device for the casual user due to its price and advanced features, but it comes highly recommended for power users with deep pockets who demand the best foldable technology.

Reasons Not to Buy the OnePlus Open

High Price Point: At Rs 1,39,999, the OnePlus Open is a significant investment.

This high cost makes it a less feasible option for budget-conscious consumers or those who might not require the advanced features that this premium device offers.

Unique Aspect Ratio: The 1:1 aspect ratio of the main display, while innovative, might not be ideal for all types of content, especially those designed for more standard aspect ratios.

Durability Concerns: The use of a plastic screen, while common in foldable phones, raises concerns about the device’s long-term durability.

This necessitates careful handling and might deter users who prefer more rugged or durable smartphones.

These actions include viewing or using passwords or passkeys saved in the iCloud Keychain, a crucial element in password management for Apple users.

Stolen Device Protection is an opt-in feature accessible in the iOS 17.3 beta. Users can activate it by navigating to Face ID and Passcode under the Settings menu.

The stable version of this upgrade is expected to be released to all users in January or February.

This feature is a response to reports of thieves exploiting a vulnerability in Apple’s software, allowing them to reset the Apple ID password and gain access to the user’s digital life.

These incidents, highlighted by the WSJ report, often occurred in public spaces like bars, where thieves observed users entering their passwords before stealing their devices.

An Apple spokesperson, in a statement to CNBC, emphasized the company’s commitment to evolving security measures:

“As threats to user devices continue to evolve, we work tirelessly to develop powerful new protections for our users and their data. iPhone data encryption has long led the industry, and a thief can’t access data on a stolen iPhone without knowing the user’s passcode. In the rare cases where a thief can observe the user entering the passcode and then steal the device, Stolen Device Protection adds a sophisticated new layer of protection.”

According to the latest report coming from The Elec, a big name in the smartphone supply-chain world, the S24 Ultra will feature a 200MP main camera sensor, an upgrade from the 200MP HPX sensor on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Additionally, it will include a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a new 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and more importantly a 10MP telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom.

However, as with all things leaked, better to wait for the official launch than buy into rumours that are not yet substantiated.

Even so, the S24 Ultra is shaping up to be an enigmatic offering in the flagship world.

What are the rumoured camera specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra?

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to significantly upgrade its camera system. Rumours suggest it will feature a 200MP main camera sensor, which is an improvement over the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200MP HPX sensor.

Additionally, it’s anticipated to include a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a new 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

Notably, the device is also expected to retain the 10MP telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom, a feature first introduced in the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

What are the expected specifications and features of the Galaxy S24 Ultra?

Beyond its advanced camera system, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is projected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen 3 processor and may offer up to 24GB of RAM.

It’s also speculated to support the S-Pen, suggesting continuity in its hybrid design. The device might feature a 144Hz display with QHD+ resolution, ensuring top-tier visual performance.

How is the Galaxy S24 Ultra expected to perform in the market?

Market projections for the Galaxy S24 Ultra are optimistic. Samsung estimates that the S24 Ultra could account for about 45% of the total sales volume of the Galaxy S24 series.

This expectation is based on the sales trends of previous models, such as the Galaxy S23 series, which reportedly surpassed the sales of the Galaxy S22.

What design changes can we expect in the Samsung Galaxy S25 series?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series, under the guidance of Ilhwan Lee from the MX Design Team, is expected to undergo a significant design refresh.

This change is anticipated to bring more innovative and possibly luxury-inspired aesthetics to the flagship series.

Are there any rumours about the camera specifications of the Galaxy S25 Ultra?

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumoured to feature a 200MP primary camera with a new 1-inch image sensor, 0.8µm pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, and in-sensor crop zoom, potentially setting a new standard for smartphone photography.

When is the Samsung Galaxy S25 series expected to launch?

While the exact launch date is not confirmed, Samsung is considering releasing the Galaxy S25 series earlier than usual, potentially around December 2024, following the earlier launch of the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024.

What does the appearance of the Galaxy S24 Ultra on BIS certification suggest?

It suggests that Samsung is in the final stages of preparing for the device’s launch, making it imminent.

What makes the titanium frame of the Galaxy S24 Ultra unique?

The titanium frame would be a pioneering feature for Samsung, offering unparalleled strength and lightweight appeal compared to the current aluminum frames.

This premium material is anticipated to enhance the device’s durability while maintaining a sleek design.

Will the titanium frame increase the cost of the Galaxy S24 Ultra?

If Samsung transitions to titanium, the frame cost could potentially increase by up to five times due to the higher price of titanium and production yield challenges.

However, the final impact on the retail price will depend on Samsung’s ability to manage these production costs effectively.

How many titanium frames is Samsung planning to produce, and why?

Samsung has reportedly set a target to manufacture 15 million titanium frames, which aligns with the number of Galaxy S23 Ultra units shipped.

This suggests a dedicated implementation of titanium frames for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, indicating the model’s exclusive and premium status.

Will the inner frame of the S24 Ultra also be made of titanium?

While the outer frame of the S24 Ultra is rumored to be titanium, the inner frame is expected to remain aluminum.

This design choice mirrors the construction seen in certain premium iPhone models, balancing durability with cost-effectiveness.

What is the new speaker design on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra?

The upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to feature a long strip design for its bottom-firing speaker, replacing the six pill-shaped holes used in previous models.

What chipset will the Galaxy S24 Ultra feature?

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, as per its recent Geekbench listing.

Will there be an Exynos variant for the S24 Ultra?

  • The ROG Phone 8 expected to feature a pro-level camera system.
  • Anticipated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
  • Predicted specs include 65W fast charging, Android 14 OS, and a large battery.

Asus is surprisingly setting the stage for a potential revolution in smartphone photography with its upcoming ROG Phone 8.

In fact, Asus is so confident in its ability that it is offering users the chance to participate in a blind photo test.

What exactly is Asus cooking with the ROG Phone, a device traditionally known for its gaming-first approach?

Blind Photo Test – A Unique Approach

Asus’s recent post links viewers to a blind test featuring several sets of photographs.

The ambiguity surrounding the origin of these photos – whether they’re all taken by the ROG Phone 8 with varying software enhancements or not – is a different matter.

Asus’s approach is multipronged: it not only engages users but also serves as a strategic move to refine their camera technology based on real user preferences.

The feedback gathered from this blind test is set to play a crucial role in shaping the direction of camera upgrades for future Asus devices.

Whether it concerns hardware or software enhancements, the ROG Phone 8 will benefit.

Now traditionally, gaming smartphones like the ROG series have prioritized performance over camera quality.

However, Asus seems to be changing gears with the ROG Phone 8.

Hinting at a pro-level camera system is a shift that indicates Asus’s intention to make the ROG Phone 8’s camera competitive with other high-end smartphones, like the Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro.

Asus does not have the best history with optics, at least with the ROG lineup.

The ROG Phone 6 and 7 maintained consistency in hardware, with the latter harnessing the power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

With the ROG Phone 8, Asus appears to be targeting a more comprehensive upgrade, focusing on enhancing the camera system to match, if not surpass, its competitors in the gaming phone market.

The handset is slated for a showcase at an event on January 8 at CES 2024.

The company has teased a glimpse of the phone’s design, which shows the improved design, at least from the outline visible in the teaser image.

As for what else to expect, the device is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, positioning it among the fastest Android phones on the market, not a surprise given Asus’ history.

ASUS Upcoming ROG Phone 8

The ROG Phone 8 is confirmed to support 65W fast charging, which is consistent with its predecessors.

The phone is expected to run on Android 14, likely topped with ASUS’s ROG UI.

In terms of storage and memory, it’s anticipated that the base model could start with at least 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The ROG Phone 8 might continue to offer a large battery, possibly around 6000mAh, which has been a standard in previous ROG phones.

The usual gamer-centric design and features, including enhanced cooling mechanisms and possibly a high-refresh-rate display, are all expected features at this point.

We’ll know more as the day of launch approaches.

There is always a looming threat of using a password that anyone can easily predict. Here are some best practices that you can follow to set up a strong password –

Go for Complex combinations

Go for Complex combinations
Go for Complex combinations

To ensure you have a strong password, you need more characters and at least 20 is what most experts would suggest.

The ideal password should typically include uppercase, lowercase and special letters in combination.

What you should do is avoid using your name, birth date or any other recognisable personal identity detail in the password. This always makes passwords easy to crack.

Avoid Reusing Old Passwords

There are only so many new combinations that we can come up with, right?

And yet it is extremely important to avoid reusing your old passwords.

One of the most common ways hackers hack into your account is by attempting to break into using your password on every account linked to your name.

Try to Revisit Your Passwords

Just monthly prepare a routine and revisit your passwords.

Make sure you check your old passwords during this routine.

It is always suggested that you do this exercise for accounts you no longer use.

Use a Password Manager

While storing passwords in one Word or Excel file safely in a corner of your personal computer might seem convenient and safe, a password manager can perform this task with zero to minimal intervention.

It might not seem like a big task but it can be chaotic so, use the password manager that aids in selecting, storing, and retrieving complex combinations for your accounts.

FAQs

Q1. How do hackers guess a password?

Answer. Although there are multiple ways, brute force is a common method of password cracking.

It uses a bot to repeatedly guess random passwords until it finds the right one.

These bots can try hundreds of passwords a second – but they are more likely to guess passwords that include dictionary words (also known as a dictionary attack) or passwords that are short.

Q2. Can hackers crack into my Instagram account password?

Answer. Yes, Instagram hacking methods involve social engineering and malicious software, such as keyloggers and phishing tactics.

Third-party apps and compromised platforms can also be used to hack Instagram accounts.

Q3. What are some of the features of a strong password?

Answer. A strong password should have the following –

  • At least 12 characters long but 14 or more is better.
  • A combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Not a word that can be found in a dictionary or the name of a person, character, product, or organization.
  • Significantly different from your previous passwords.

How to protect yourself online?

Use Two-Factor authentication everywhere, Multifactor authentication if available.

Password managers are also a secure option along with physical authentication FIDO key. Never use one password for multiple services, this is very common, probably because it’s a task to remember all passwords.

However, if one account gets compromised, you will lose access to other accounts as well.

How do hackers find out your password?

Hackers use multiple tools and methods to ‘crack’ your password.

Brute force is one such method where hackers would use automated scripted tools that try multiple passwords usually from a password list containing many words.

Then comes the more complex ‘Dictionary attack’, where hackers again use scripts for automation, lists of usernames and passwords available on the darknet or leaks, and run them on the login prompt.

Both these techniques are highly time-consuming. However, these common passwords can be broken in a matter of seconds.

While these techniques are remotely executed and very time-consuming, hackers have other ways to trick you into sharing your password.

Phishing, Malware, keyloggers and scam calls (social engineering), Man in the middle attack are a few of the common techniques used.

If you find your Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter passwords change one day, it might not be a hacker, it could be someone you know.

This is known as ‘Spidering’, where the threat actor, befriends the victim intimately in order to find out key details that people use to secure themselves, like your birth date, your pet’s name, your mother’s maiden name, or even your first school or phone number. These questions are commonly found in password recovery sections.

What are other password trends?

A look at the top 200 most commonly used passwords in India reveals the practice of using religious names and entities for online security.

Some commonly used passwords in this regard are krishna, sairam, omsairam, jaimatadi, saibaba, ganesh and more. Most of these can be compromised by threat actors within 2 minutes.

People in India also tend to use their names as passwords. Some examples of this include sachin, abhishek, rajesh, sandeep, sweety, ashish, manish, hariom, anjali, suresh, prakash and more. All of these, and other such passwords, can be broken into within half an hour, the report mentions.

Then there are phrases that people often like to use as passwords. iloveyou, goodluck, jaihanuman, success, rockstar, girlsrockz, pass@123, lucky123, Senti123 are some of these. If you use such a password too, know that it can be hacked into extremely easily by hackers.

How to know if my mobile is hacked?

If you suspect your mobile device might be hacked, watch out for unusual activities such as unexpected battery drain, slow performance, unfamiliar apps, or excessive data usage. Following are some of the things to be kept in mind –

Be wary of unauthorized access to accounts or unfamiliar charges. Check for strange pop-ups, messages, or calls.

Keep an eye out for unexplained changes in settings or security warnings can also be red flags.

Install a reputable antivirus app to scan for malware.

If you notice any unusual signs on your mobile, it’s crucial to run a security scan, update your software, and change your passwords immediately. Consulting a cybersecurity professional can provide further assistance and peace of mind.

What to do if your phone is hacked?

If you suspect your mobile phone has been hacked, here are some actions you can perform before getting professional help –

Turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data to prevent further unauthorized access. Immediately change passwords for email, social media, and banking accounts.

Use a reputable antivirus app to scan your device and remove malware. Ensure your phone’s operating system and apps are up-to-date to patch vulnerabilities.

Inform your mobile service provider about the hack for additional support.
Regularly monitor your accounts for suspicious activities and report unauthorized transactions immediately.

If the situation escalates, consult a cybersecurity expert or tech support for professional assistance.

How to prevent your phone from getting hacked?

To prevent phone hacks, update your device regularly, install reputable antivirus software, avoid clicking on suspicious links or downloads, use strong, unique passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and be cautious of public Wi-Fi.

Additionally, refrain from granting unnecessary app permissions, and stay vigilant against phishing attempts and suspicious messages or calls.

How do hackers get usernames?

The easiest and most common way that hackers get passwords is from data breaches, in which huge amounts of user data has already been leaked or stolen from companies.

This data, which often includes usernames and passwords, is compiled into databases and may be sold on the dark web or downloaded freely on forums.

Why do hackers take Instagram?

Most hackers do this immediately so they can keep control of your account for themselves. They may even hold your Instagram account for ransom and request bitcoin or other plunder for you to get it back.

If that’s the case, you’ll need to report the activity to Instagram by following the step-by-step instructions here.
