OnePlus Nord 2T expected to be launched in India later this month

OnePlus Nord 2T

After global launch of OnePlus Nord 2T last month, the Company is reportedly preparing to launch the device in India. According to the reports, the brand is expected to introduce the OnePlus Nord 2T in India by the end of this month. However, any specific launch date is yet to be announced by the Company.

The design and specifications of the Indian version of the OnePlus Nord 2T is expected to be the same as its global variant. However, the Indian model may come with support for expandable storage that is not available in global model of OnePlus Nord 2T.

The global model of OnePlus Nord 2T is coupled with up to 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It does not offer expandable storage.

OnePlus Nord 2T specifications

Talking about the specifications of OnePlus Nord 2T, the smartphone is equipped with a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The punch-hole cut-out includes a selfie shooter.

The OnePlus Nord 2T runs on Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 custom skin out of the box. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset paired with up to 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Talking about the camera, the phone comes with a triple rear camera set up, including a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor. There is a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies.

The smartphone gets energy from a 4,500mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC charging support. 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, Beidou, Galileo, USB Type-C port, and an in-display fingerprint sensor are some of the other features that the OnePlus Nord phone offers globally.

Samsung is soon to come up with its launch event for its rumoured next-gen foldable. The event will take place in August with the announcement of the most-awaited- Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. We already have enough rumours going on about its design and specs but now it’s time for its launch date. Ahead of the launch, a renowned tipster has tipped the launch date along with the colour option for the upcoming Z-series. Here’s all that we know about it.

Galaxy Z Fold series launch date tipped

The South Korean tech giants are setting the stage for their upcoming Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event on August 10. The event is awaited for the announcement of the next-gen foldable series by the brand- the Z-series devices. Now, ahead of the launch, the popular tipster, Jon Prosser, has created a buzz by revealing the launch dates for this upcoming series.

Prosser has tweeted the expected Galaxy event launch dump that we might be going to witness in August. As per his tweet, Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event will be held on August 10 2022. The event will celebrate the arrival of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip, Watch 5, and Watch 5 Pro. Also, these devices will also be available to pre-order on the same date, and the sale for the sale will start on August 26, 2022.

Along with the price details, Prosser has also revealed the available colour options for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4. The smartphone is expected to come in three stunning colours- Phantom Black, Green, and Beige colour. While, on the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will come in colours like Graphite, Bora Purple, Pink Gold, and Blue.

Both the foldable phones will be unveiled on the upcoming August 10 and will go on pre-order on the same day as well. Also, these devices will only be introduced in selected markets starting August 26 2022.

Galaxy Z Fold 4: Expected specs

Earlier, some of the specifications for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 leaked ahead of its launch. The foldable smartphone is expected to sport a 7.6-inch 120Hz AMOLED foldable display and 120Hz HD+ display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it will have the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset as well. Furthermore, it is expected to host a 16MP under-screen camera.

Galaxy Z Fold 4: Expected specs

Coming to the rear camera structure, it will feature a triple camera array at the back with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP 3x telephoto camera. The cover screen will also feature a hole-punch cutout for the 10MP front camera. Talking about the battery, the Fold 4 will pack a 4400 mAh battery with 25W fast charging support as well.

Other significant launches at Galaxy Unpacked 2022

Along with the next-gen foldable series, Samsung is also planning to launch a couple of other gadgets and some new upgrades. Here is what to expect!

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series

The tipster has further claimed in his tweet that the Watch 5 series will debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The tipster stated that the Watch 5 will launch in 40mm and 44mm variants with all the available colour options. The Watch 5 40mm variant will launch in Phantom Black, Silver and Pink Gold colours. The 44mm variant, on the other hand, will launch in Sapphire, Phantom Black and Silver colours.

There will be a Watch 5 Pro as well, which will launch in two colours – Phantom Black and Silver. Like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, the Watch 5 series will be available for pre-order starting August 10 and go on sale starting August 26, according to Prosser.

Along with this, the tipster has also said that the brand will also introduce a new colour option for the existing S22 series. Samsung Galaxy S22 might also be announced in a lovely new Lavender colour at the event. The same will go live on August 26 2022.

Samsung’s ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ competition

South Korean electronics major Samsung has come up with the inaugural edition of a new youth-centric national education competition called ‘Solve for Tomorrow’, which is inviting India’s brightest young minds to come up with innovative ideas that can transform the lives of people and communities around them.

The citizenship initiative aims to provide support to youth in India aged 16-22 years from across cities, towns and villages to turn their ideas into action. The competition is inviting ideas in the areas of Education, Environment, Healthcare and Agriculture, the priority UN Sustainable Development Goals for India.

Support will include mentoring of the top 50 teams (individuals or teams of up to 3 members) by industry experts and Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) to help enhance their ideas, along with a boot-camp at IIT Delhi, a certificate of participation, and vouchers worth Rs 100,000 for online courses in design thinking, STEM, innovation, leadership, among others.

The top 10 teams will get the opportunity to visit Samsung India offices, its R&D centres and Samsung Opera House in Bengaluru where they will interact with young Samsung employees and researchers.

The annual program will end with the grand announcement of three national winners, who stand a chance to get mega support of up to Rs 1 crore and mentoring support for six months to take their ideas to the next level under the expert guidance of IIT Delhi.

Apple is offering the upgrade to the standard non-Pro MacBook as an option alongside the higher versions as well. Hence, if you have the standard models of MacBook starting in 2017 and later, it will feature the new macOS Ventura. It includes the MacBook powered by M2 and the 12-inch variant from 2017- MacBook Retina. Unfortunately, if you’re still stuck with the 2016 model and back, then you won’t be able to access or upgrade to Ventura.

iMac and iMac Pro

Since the iMac is available in two variants: The iMac and iMac Pro, we’ll talk about both the models here. So, the good news is the macOS Ventura is available with both the models from 2017 and newer. Mac Pro and Mac Studio

Mac Pro is one of the oldest models supported by the brand but still loved by many. Although these Mac never gets the Apple M1 or Apple M2 chipsets, they will the macOS Ventura upgrade. Ventura upgrade will be available on Mac Pro models from 2019 or later. While, on the other hand, Mac Pro’s popular replacement, the new Mac Studio will fully support the macOS Ventura upgrade. The users would have to keep in mind that the older Mac pro versions from the 2013 Mac Pro, will not work with the Ventura upgrade. These devices have outdated specs, anyway, though the design and upgradability have some people still using them.

Mac Mini

Now coming to the last offering from Apple, the Mac Minis will also get this upgrade. Users who are working with the MAC Mini models from 2018 and later are good to go with Ventura. Here’s a list comprising all the confirmed Mini models to get macOS Ventura by Apple.

One more point to be noted here is that the Mac mini models from 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009 are not going to work with Ventura. If that is the case with you, you’ll need to upgrade to the mentioned variants.

One thing to be noted here is that the list has changed quite a bit when compared to the current-generation macOS Catalina. The current macOS version supports Mac devices as old as 2015, even for the Mac Mini and Mac Pro which were launched back in 2013. However, it lacks support for some latest versions. Even the brand has dropped support for several older devices but the newer version has support for devices that were first launched about five years ago.

Summing up or keeping it simple, the good news is that if you have had a Mac device for the last five years, you should be good to go. Also, in any case, if the list gets changed or some new devices hets added by the brand, we will update this for you.

Just like all the previous years, the latest operating system is yet to be rolled out to the users. The same will be available for them once it is more stabilized. There is no specific date mentioned by Apple for the rollout of macOS Ventura, however, it will be available for the users in the second quarter of the year.

Google Maps to bring AQI checking: What’s inside?

Just like you, your Google Maps also wants you to breathe in fresh air only, hence, its is bringing AQI on both your iOS and Android smartphones. The feature will be available for users in the US on both iOS and Android.

As per the Google maps, “Entering the Air Quality layer will zoom out your current Google Maps view. Pins will appear over the largest locations, and you can tap any colour-coded dot to see a specific site. More details appear on the bottom sheet with an easy-to-understand text description”.

The new feature is expected to tell the user what they can expect from the air today. For instance, whether it’s going to be smoggy and smoky, so he/she should stay home. It is also going to help you to decide on your morning walk or picnic when the air quality is supremely good. So, it’s now time you can have some expectations, air-wise!

Google Maps air quality feature: Uses and significance

Google Maps air quality feature: Uses and significance

Currently, the feature is available only in the United States and certain parts of Canada. Now, one more important aspect of this latest feature is about the reliability of the data. So, this data comes straight from government agencies, primarily the EPA or the Environmental Protection Agency.

Maps also show air quality information from PurpleAir, a low-cost sensor network which can give you a hyperlocal view of conditions. However, the users would have to add this layer manually. To do so, users can simply follow these easy steps:

  • Tap on the button in the top right corner of their phone’s screen.
  • Then they have to select Air Quality under Map details.
  • The information from PurpleAir is also available on Nest displays and speakers.

This will allow the users to see details about active fires in the area, thanks to Google partnering up with the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC). High-voltage action on the anvil

This year’s league is set to engage gamers across the country in a high-voltage action with the most popular battle royale game, ‘BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI)’ which carries a big prize pool of Rs 1 crore.

The champion team will take home Rs 50 lakh, while the second and third-placed teams will bag Rs 25 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively. Top-16 teams will be awarded cash prizes and the Most Valuable Player Award winner will be richer by Rs 1 lakh.

The upcoming edition of India’s premier esports league, ESPL will kickstart registrations on June 15 and matches on June 21.

The first 12 teams, top-2 teams from the online event and top-10 teams from the invitational qualifiers, will progress directly into the final stage and compete for the top 2 spots in the final.

The teams ranked from 3 to 10 (7 teams) in the online qualifiers and teams ranked from 11 to 18 from invitational qualifiers will compete for the other top two spots available in the finals. The finals will also witness two direct invited teams competing and vying for the title.

Season 1 was already a hit

Inaugural season of the ESPL recorded more than one million registrations and 100 million-plus video views as the action was streamed LIVE on the official YouTube and Facebook channels of India Today and Aaj Tak and its websites.

Nath further said, “Every season we plan to do something different in order to take the league to the next level. The upcoming edition will also be action-packed, especially with players fighting it out on the BGMI esports maps which is a very popular title among the gaming community. This platform is for our athletes and they are equally excited.”

Professional athletes as well as esports enthusiasts above the age of 16 can participate in the ESPL Season 2. Instagram users under the age of 18 won’t be able to opt for the latter setting. There’s no date announced for this upcoming functionality, but it will be available to the users in the coming week.

Apple bringing New Passkey Feature

Apple’s ongoing WWDC 2022 has already unveiled the company’s latest upgrades and technologies coming in the future. Keeping with the same, iOS 16, iPadOS 16, tvOS 16, and macOS Ventura is soon to introduce the “Passkeys” feature to replace the traditional passwords. The same will help the users to sign in to any website or app without typing their long passwords.

As Apple explains in a support document on the feature, “Passkeys are built on the WebAuthn standard and use a unique cryptographic key pair for each website or account”. It is considered even more secure than passwords as they protect users from phishing, malware, and other attacks aimed at gaining account access. The whole Passkey concept relies on the iCloud Keychain, which in turn requires two-factor authentication for further protection. Apple says that transitioning away from passwords is going to take some time, but it will be working with developers to create a passwordless future.
