New Messaging Feature
WhatsApp

Introduction

WhatsApp always caters to the needs of its users, which is why it continuously upgrades its platform with new features. It has come out with a new messaging feature called Message Yourself that is quite a unique one.

Highlights

  • WhatsApp coming up with new features is no surprise but this new messaging feature is something different
  • It is an end-to-end encrypted feature where none except the user can see the chats, not even WhatsApp
  • Users will find it quite handy as beta testers are quite impressed with it, which means it will be launched very soon.

WhatsApp New Messaging Feature Introduced

In order to stay relevant in the public eye, a movie star has to continuously change his persona to suit the change of times, a product has to keep upgrading its qualities to enhance its shelf life, and a smartphone application has to keep upgrading to new features to cater to the fickle tastes of the public.

WhatsApp is arguably as well as inarguably the most popular messaging platform we have in this day and age, despite receiving stiff competition from rivals like Telegram and Signal, both formidable messaging apps in themselves that have more than a significant following.

WhatsApp has been in existence for more than a decade but has carefully come out with new features at regular intervals so as to keep the viewers’ interest in it going, which it has done wonderfully.

An application’s new features form the core basis of its existence in public view, which is why WhatsApp continues to stay relevant. The newest addition is the New Messaging Feature where users can continue messaging themselves without the need to create any group or use another WhatsApp account.

New Messaging Feature

This feature was first introduced to the beta version of WhatsApp that many users found useful, due to which it will be available for normal users as well, which they can get access to by upgrading their WhatsApp to the latest version.

Users will be happy to know that it is end-to-end encrypted, which means that they and they alone can see their chats, as not even WhatsApp can be privy to anything, which means that you can use chats to save texts, links, documents, relevant notes, for yourself.

While Notes App is a significant option to do so, WhatsApp has now merged the Message Yourself feature into their application and while Telegram had a similar feature, WhatsApp had begun testing for it in October, whereas Telegram has had it since its release.

Conclusion

Users need to search for the latest WhatsApp version on Google Play Store or Apple App Store to see if the feature is available or not, while those who haven’t received any update need to patiently wait until they get it.

Elon Musk’s Delay in Paying Salary for November Sparks Outrage

Elon Musk

Introduction

There have been many elaborate changes that Elon Musk has brought on Twitter ever since taking over the platform on October 28, 2022, which means that he has done a lot in the past month.

Highlights

  • Elon Musk has delayed paying November’s salary to his laid off employees, which didn’t bode well with them
  • The payday is 28th of every month but it seems that no laid off employee has been paid until now
  • Some of the European Twitter staff, like Ireland and Netherlands, have been paid on time but not those from UK and Germany.

Elon Musk’s Dilly Dallying on Payday Sparks Employee Ire

From the day Elon Musk took over as the owner of Twitter, he swore to bring in reforming changes so as to instill some sanity in the company, which can be seen in the past month itself as he has laid off thousands of Twitter employees all over the world.

It appears that the Tesla CEO wants to start out with an iron fist from day one itself as his no-nonsense attitude baffled many people, as employees started getting laid off for non-performance or insubordination, while the remaining ones were warned to work harder with ‘high intensity’ or risk similar consequences.

Now things to be getting out of hand as employees are having a tough time and are showing no effort to hide their anger and disappointment. To add insult to injury, some European employees have not even received their salary for November 2022.

Many UK employees received an email on November 25 informing them that they’re due on November 28, which was sent to all employees of the EMEA region, while everyone also receives monthly pay slips, but it appears that Twitter staff from UK and Germany weren’t paid on the 28th.

Delay in paying salary

Twitter immediately sent an email to all its current and former employees that the payments had been made to their Twitter bank accounts, while the non-payment of wages was speculated due to the a delay in interbank settlement, for which there is an ongoing investigation that the employees will be informed of soon.

Many Twitter employees have voiced their displeasure over the wages issue, while some have shared their bank account screenshots as proof as they’re now facing overdraft issues.

There were also many ongoing discussions in Slack groups between the current and former employees where it was suggested that more than 80% of staff had not been paid by around 1pm UK time.

Conclusion

Given the backlash from former employees, it is hoped that the matter will be sorted out soon and everyone who hasn’t been paid will be paid because Elon Musk seems to have trying times ahead the way he is going.

Elon Musk Focuses on Child Safety; Single Staff Member Issue

Elon Musk's Poll
ELON MUSK

Introduction

Elon Musk, ever since taking over Twitter, has vowed to revolutionize the platform by making sweeping changes on the platform, which can be seen in the past month, with the latest one being Child protection as his primary focus.

Also Read: Elon Musk Tweets Photos of Guns and Diet Coke on Bedside Table

Highlights

  • Twitter CEO has decided to make Child Safety a major priority on Twitter as one of his reforming changes with the company
  • The problem is that the Child Sexual Abusive Material (CSAM) is being handled by a single staff member after massive layoffs
  • The issue might become big due to the massive layoffs that Musk has ordered in the past month

Elon Musk’s Priority of Child Safety Under Problem

Elon Musk is a name that everyone is familiar with but one that has been frequently used in the past year or so as the billionaire entrepreneur has engaged in a legal tussle with Twitter as the latter has filed a case against him following his backing out of a deal to purchase the social media giant for $44 billion.

It goes without saying that Twitter has become a cesspool of uncertainties ever since the Tesla CEO took over as the company’s CEO last month on October 28, 2022, where there is little job security while users cannot be sure regarding the launch of the next feature.

As of now, Musk has undertaken a top priority of making Twitter a safe haven for children as he wants to bring, in his own words, some sanity in the company but there is a huge problem that he seems to have overlooked.

child safety

Apparently, after the massive employee layoffs and staff resignations, the one key team that has been tasked with moderating Twitter’s Child Sexual Abusive Material (CSAM) has only one member left as the permanent employee.

Given the situation, it remains a big question mark as to how Elon Musk can hope to protect children when the department tasked with handling it has only one staff member left.

There were four Singaporean employees, as CSAM is based in Singapore, who specialized in child safety that had resigned in November 2022 itself, and the issue is that it is the Singapore team that handles Twitter’s busiest markets, Japan included.

It is the job of Twitter’s child safety experts to review CSAM content with groups like Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), UK, and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), US, providing backend support.

Conclusion

The experts have to scan and identify images posted and shared on Twitter while the above groups only work with the internal CSAM team as they focus on the final product and have no access to Twitter’s internal data.

Since the team has only one staff member left, Musk cannot claim child safety as a priority as the department is depleted and he can only focus his attention on it when it has a significant number of members.

Google Pixel Buds Pro Review: Better Late Than Never

0
Google Pixel Buds Pro

The new Pixel Buds Pro is Google’s foray into the premium category of TWS earbuds where other competitors like Sony or Apple are some of the best names in the industry. Google is also featuring active noise cancellation for the first time in one of its earbuds. Combining the ANC with new custom drivers and improved battery life, Google Pixel Buds Pro seem to be ticking every checkbox that will make it one of the best products in the target category. Let’s find out more in our detailed Google Pixel Buds Pro review.

Google Pixel Buds Pro review

So first of all, the case that Google Pixel Buds Pro come in is similar to the previous model. And what needs to be reiterated is that these Pixel Bud cases are highly underrated. It is nothing like those other wireless headphones’ thick or large cases that always seem too big with no stylish finish. This is a compact and well-made case.

Although the white colour might get a little dirty after a while, that’s probably a thing that can be overlooked. The case also has a super satisfying magnet to open and close along with being IPX2 splash-resistant. The case sports a USB-C port at the bottom but can also be wirelessly charged using any Qi wireless charger. You can also charge it on the back of your phone if it supports power sharing.

Coming to the design part, Pixel Buds are not really known for design innovation, are they? Just like the last three Pixel Buds, this one looks similar with changes so minute that the average user would never notice. Though once you put them on, you might feel the design change that the eyes post probably will miss. The wingtips that are meant to keep the buds tucked in the last Pixel Buds are nowhere to be found here. This, however, may come as a piece of good news for those who were annoyed by their presence last time.

In an oval shape design, the buds come in four colours i.e. Coral, Charcoal, Fog, and Lemongrass.

Google Pixel Buds Pro

But how does it sound? In simple user-friendly terms, it sounds good. They come in a single 11mm dynamic driver inside each earbud which allows a proper balance of high and low sounds. The sound exudes a sort of warmth maintaining appropriate instrument separation. For music lovers, the full fledged equaliser in Pixel Buds Pro would be an added feature.

This is also the first earbuds by Google to have active noise cancellation. And like all ANC, here too it depends on how well the earbuds fit the ear. To assist in situations where fit is not up to the mark, Buds Pro has what they call a custom silicon powered “Silent Seal” inside the buds. These adapt to ears in order to provide optimum noise cancellation.

Another aspect where Google Pixel Buds Pro scores well compared to other competitors in the segment is its good battery life. As per the brand, Pixel Buds Pro comes with 7 hours of playback when active noise cancellation is turned on. With turned the feature on, for those who are not really bothered by the outside noises, the Pixel Buds Pro would easily have an 11 hour smooth run.

Google Pixel Buds Pro Specifications

  • Bluetooth 5.0, SBC/AAC codec
  • 11mm drivers
  • Active Noise Cancelling, Transparency Mode
  • IPX4 water resistance (case is IPX2)
  • USB-C wired charging, Qi wireless charging
  • 7hr battery life, 20hr including case with ANC on (11hrs, 31hrs respectively for ANC off)
  • 5 min charge of buds in the case gives 1hr listening time with ANC on
  • Features: multipoint, in-ear detection, customisable touch-and-hold functionality,
  • Only Charcoal colour is available in SG.
