Redmi and Astro Boy are together! Xiaomi has officially collaborated with the Astro Boy for its upcoming Redmi Note 11T. The brand has teased the upcoming smartphone via a Weibo post. The device is planned to launch in its native market on May 24, 2022.

Instagram getting a fresh typeface

Along with its updated logo, the brand also debuted its new typeface. Instagram Sans. The new typeface will be used across its brand and through other media formats such as advertising campaigns. The new typeface was designed “with our heritage in mind and includes multiple global scripts”.

Realme has all geared up to launch its first domestic tablet PC- Realme Pad X Tablet on May 26, 2022. The gadget is launching in its home country China with some fresh features and specs. Although there’s no official information about the price of the upcoming Realme Pad X 5G, some leaks have been around the gadget. It might be a budget option under INR 30,000 in India. The gadget will be up in the arena with Xiaomi and Huawei.

Generally, Realme Pad starts from INR 13,999 and goes up to Rs 17,999 in India. Coming to the Realme Pad Mini is retailing between INR 10,999 and INR 14,999. So, looking at this range overview, we can expect the Pad 5G to come under INR 30,000 in India. Another thing to note here, if the Realme Pad X goes on sale in India, it would compete with Samsung. Why? Because it also offers a number of popular Android tablets in the given segment.

 Coming to the specifications, Realme’s CMO confirmed that the upcoming Realme Pad X 5G will pack the Snapdragon 870 processor to power its CPU. This is also the same, found in the Xiaomi Pad 5. It is also expected to have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ SoC variant as well, dubbed the Master Explorer edition in China. Furthermore, the device will have a 2.5k LCD Display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2,520×1,680 pixels, (confirmed via Weibo post). It will also feature a 120Hz refresh rate on top.

Realme Pad X: Expected specs

Talking about connectivity, the Realme Pad 5 is said to host 5G connectivity for its users. Now, this is what makes it more different from the Xiaomi Pad 5 as it lacks the 5G connectivity. This is also going to be one of the distinct features why people would choose it over the Xiaomi Pad 5. Some more images on Weibo also suggest that it will sport quad-chamber speakers and volume rockerz as well.

Coming to the battery power of this gadget, it will host 8,360mAh battery power to manage all the multi-tasking well. Realme Pad X is also speculated to feature a Stylus in the box.

Furthermore, talking about the storage and RAM options, the latest Realme Pad 5 5G will come in two storage variants. The 4GB RAM variant will pack 64GB storage and the 6GB RAM variant will feature 128GB storage onboard. The renders also suggest that the tablet will feature a single camera at the front. However, there’s no information on the detailed lens pixels and aperture. So, this is going to be really interesting how the brand is planning to project the lens details.

With all the leaks going around specs and price, it is only fair enough to talk about what are the colour options available with the tablet. So, as per the Weibo leak, the Realme Pad will come in three stunning and gorgeous colour options: Bright Chessboard Green, Star Grey, and Sea Salt Blue (Translated version). The Chessboard Green looks more like a real chessboard with bright and neon hints of green all over. The black looks more on the matte side with some greyish detailing on the camera side. Finally, the elegant and easy Blue colour. The Realme stylus is also seen in a White finish in the official image.

With an aim to build a comprehensive administrative support system for citizens to access resources and essential services that are digitally inclusive, citizen engagement platform MYGov has announced that citizens will now be able to use the MyGov Helpdesk on WhatsApp to access the Digilocker service.

As part of the new initiative, citizens from across the country will be able to download or access the documents such as PAN card, Driving License, CBSE Class X Passing Certificate, Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC), Insurance Policy – Two Wheeler, Class X and XII Marksheet, Insurance Policy Document (life and non-life available on digilocker) with ease and convenience, from the safety of their homes. Creating and authenticating the Digilocker account will also be possible through WhatsApp.

The decision has been taken to help promote digital inclusion and efficient governance. Availability of the MyGov Helpdesk on WhatsApp will help citizens to get access of governance and government services at their fingertips.

To access the DigiLocker services on WhatsApp, users from across the country need to send ‘Namaste or Hi or Digilocker’ to +91 9013151515.

MyGov Helpdesk

Earlier known as MyGov Corona Helpdesk, the MyGov Helpdesk was launched in March 2020. According to Government claims more than 80 million people have reached out to the helpdesk. The helpdesk has also been used to download Covid vaccine certificate by more than 33 million people. Covid vaccination appointments is also done through the helpdesk.

DigiLocker

The service on WhatsApp will digitally empower millions by helping them access authentic documents and information, right from within their phones. More than 100 million people are already registered on Digilocker and government has issued over 5 billion documents including digital copies of Ration Cards for 15 States and Marriage Certificates for 17 States till date.

DigiLocker, a flagship initiative of Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) under Digital India programme, is aimed to provide access to authentic digital documents to citizen’s digital document wallet. DigiLocker is also in consultation with Passport Seva for the issuance of Passport.

The DigiLocker allows users to get access of important and authentic documents anytime, anywhere. It also allows faster service delivery including government benefits, employment, financial Iiclusion, education, and health. Digital Document Exchange with the consent of the citizen is also done through the DigiLocker.

Aimed at the concept of paperless governance, DigiLocker reduces the administrative overhead by minimizing the use of paper and curtailing the verification process. Government agencies are able to secure trusted issued documents. The platform also acts as a secure document exchange platform. This pair of chips will be among the first Wi-Fi 7 solutions to hit the market, allowing device makers to deliver cutting-edge products with the latest connectivity technology.

Filogic 880 is a complete platform that combines a Wi-Fi 7 access point with a new advanced host processor solution to provide the industry’s best router and gateway solution for operator, retail and enterprise markets. It offers a scalable architecture that can support up to penta-band 4×4 with a maximum speed of 36Gbps. Filogic 380 is designed to bring Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to all client devices, including smartphone, tablet, TVs, notebooks, set-top boxes and OTT streaming devices. The chip’s dual concurrent 2×2 capability will be optimized “out-of-the-box” for these devices as MediaTek also supplies the corresponding platform solutions. The Filogic 880 platform includes a 6nm Wi-Fi 7 access point solution with:

  • Support for key Wi-Fi 7 technologies such as 4096-QAM, 320MHz, MRU and MLO
  • Flexibility to scale to penta-band 36Gbps speeds
  • Support up to 10Gbps in one channel

Last year, India Smartwatch Market witnessed record 274% growth and local brand Noise remains leader. Thanks to increased health awareness, affordable prices, growth of new entrants, discount schemes and numerous launches of feature-packed products throughout the year led to record growth of over 274% YoY in 2021 shipments.

Noise led the market in 2021 with a 27% share and over 278% YoY growth. Portfolio expansion towards lower price points, emphasis on community building, designing products according to preferences backed by a strong consumer database, and new alliances and partnerships helped the brand become the market leader. Four out of the top 10 models in 2021 were from Noise. The ColorFit Pro 2 remained the brand’s most popular smartwatch. Noise was followed by boAt and Fire Boltt.

MediaTek launches first mmWave chipset for seamless 5G smartphone connectivity

MediaTek Dimensity 1050 and 930

Fabless semiconductor major MediaTek today announced the Dimensity 1050 system-on-chip (SoC), its first mmWave 5G chipset that will power the next generation of 5G smartphones with seamless connectivity, displays, gaming and power efficiency. Through dual connectivity using mmWave and sub-6GHz, the Dimensity 1050 will deliver the speeds and capacity required to provide smartphone users with an incredible experience, even in some of the most densely populated areas.

The Dimensity 1050 combines mmWave 5G and sub-6GHz to fluidly migrate between network bands, and is built on the ultra-efficient TSMC 6nm production process with an octa-core CPU. Supporting 3CC carrier aggregation on sub-6 (FR1) spectrum and 4CC carrier aggregation on mmWave (FR2) spectrum, the Dimensity 1050 will be capable of delivering up to 53 per cent faster speeds and greater reach to smartphones compared to LTE + mmWave aggregation alone. The SoC integrates two premium Arm Cortex-A78 CPUs with speeds reaching 2.5GHz and the latest Arm Mali-G610 graphics engine.

“The Dimensity 1050, and its combination of sub-6GHz and mmWave technologies, will deliver end-to-end 5G experiences, uninterrupted connectivity and superior power efficiency to meet everyday user demands,” said CH Chen, Deputy General Manager of Wireless Communications Business Unit at MediaTek. “With faster, more reliable connections, and advanced camera technology, this chip delivers powerful features to help device makes to differentiate their smartphone product lines.”

In addition to 5G optimizations, the Dimensity 1050 offers Wi-Fi optimizations alongside MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0 gaming technology to ensure lower-latency connections with the new tri-band – 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz – that extends game time and performance. Additionally, high-end UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 memory ensure ultra-fast data streams to accelerate apps, social feeds and faster FPS in games.

Additional features of the Dimensity 1050 include:

  • Support for True Dual 5G SIM (5G SA + 5G SA) and Dual VoNR.
  • Super-fast 144Hz Full HD+ displays with intense, vibrant colours through MediaTek’s MiraVision 760.
  • Dual HDR video capture engine, enabling users to simultaneously stream with the front and rear cameras.
  • Excellent noise reduction for superb low-light photos and MediaTek’s APU 550 improves AI camera actions.
  • Wi-Fi 6E support for superior power efficiency and 2×2 MIMO antenna brings faster, more reliable connections.

MediaTek also announced two additional chipsets to expand its 5G and gaming chipset families:

  • The Dimensity 930 enables 5G smartphones to download data faster and stay connected regardless of location with 2CC-CA, including mixed duplex FDD+TDD for higher speeds and greater reach. Designed to capture vibrant details, it is equipped with MiraVision HDR video playback and display for 120Hz Full HD+ displays and HDR10+ video. Additionally, HyperEngine 3.0 Lite gaming enhancements bring intelligent multi-network management to ensure lower latency for smooth user experiences and maximized battery life.
  • The Helio G99 powers incredible mobile gaming experiences on 4G/LTE for higher throughput rates and better power efficiency compared to the Helio G96. This SoC will be available to customers in the second quarter of 2022.

Smartphones powered by the Dimensity 930 will be available on the market during the second quarter of 2022; additionally, smartphones using the Dimensity 1050 and the Helio G99 will be on the market in the third quarter of 2022.

However, the price is not yet disclosed by the brand, but looking at the previous models in the lineup, it will be a budget smartphone.

WhatsApp is dropping support for these older iPhones

Meta-owned WhatsApp is soon going to drop its support from the iPhones running on iOS 10 and iOS 11. As per a fresh report published on WAPBetaInfo, the platforms have started giving warnings to the users who are still using the older iOS versions. These older versions are usually available on the older models, namely the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c. Hence, the advisory suggests that these variants will not be to access WhatsApp after October 24, 2022.

Users with the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, or iPhone 6s need not worry for now, as iOS 12 is still supporting the App. WhatsApp has also updated its FAQ page with these guidelines, saying, “We support iOS 12 or newer, but we recommend using the latest version available.”

Xiaomi and Leica’s co-developed flagship coming in July

Xiaomi has officially confirmed its association with the renowned German camera brand Leica for its upcoming flagship. The smartphone maker finally stated that their first co-developed phone will arrive in July this year. According to Xiaomi, the partnership with the legendary image and innovative technology is the beginning of a new era of mobile photography the world is waiting to witness in the coming July 2022. The announcement comes fresh from Xiaomi’s Twitter account for its first partnership with a camera brand. Leica is quite famous with the smartphone brands as it has previously worked with Huawei, Sharp, and Panasonic as well.

Realme Pad X tablet set to launch on May 26

Realme has finally unveiled its upcoming Realme Pad X, the company’s most recent Android tablet. The tablet will be available in China first, with a global release to follow.
