Google’s latest Best Phones ad campaign paints the iPhone 14 Pro as being jealous of the Pixel 7 Pro Promises Some Humour When Phones Talk

Best Phones Forever

HIGHLIGHTS

* Google has released its latest Best Phones Forever ad campaign.
* The campaign shows the Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro talking as best friends with a cameo from Pixel Fold.
* It’s a 5-ad series with Pixel features highlighted over iPhones.

What you need to know

Best Phones Forever

* Google’s new #BestPhonesForever highlights the differences between its Pixel 7 series and the latest iPhone 14 series.
* Google highlights its ability to unblur photos, capture the night sky, and even its free VPN service to Pixel 7 owners.
* The company also shows off its new Pixel Fold, a form factor Apple has yet to adopt.

Google woke up ready today as the company started a new campaign to raise awareness about the difference between Pixels and iPhones. The company launched a new #BestPhonesForever campaign on Wednesday, with several videos to go along with it.

In the series of five videos, we follow the friendship of a Google Pixel 7 Pro and last year’s iPhone 14 Pro.

The two are simply living life, albeit with a spoonful of shade. One video highlights the things the Pixel can do that the iPhone wishes it could, with the Pixel 7 Pro at one point saying, “I can unblur your photos for you. We don’t have to tell anyone,” when the iPhone shows admiration for its sharp photos.

Google also takes a small jab at Apple over its blue bubbles for text messaging, reminding us about the company’s unwillingness to incorporate RCS chats.

Best Phones Forever

The videos highlight various features that the Pixel holds over the iPhone. Google even teases Apple’s continues use of the Lightning port, although that might soon change to USB-C after the EU’s order rolls through.

The videos are actually pretty amusing to watch, although they’re undoubtedly going to add fuel to the iOS vs. Android wars that have raged on since the beginning of time.

Google also pokes fun at Apple’s lack of a foldable phone, after having just launched itself with the new Pixel Fold. The Fold quite literally flashed the iPhone after asking if it noticed anything different about the phone.

You can watch the full campaign series of #BestFriendsForever on the MadeByGoogle and Google Pixel YouTube channels, as well as the company’s Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook pages.

Best Phones Forever

Google’s latest #BestPhonesForever ad campaign is a refreshing take on the Pixel-iPhone rivalry. As you can guess, the campaign is a take on best friends forever. Unlike Samsung —the company known for brutally trolling iPhones in its ads— Google is taking the fun and friendly route showing Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro as best friends.

In the entire series, iPhone could be seen wishing it had the features of the Pixel. The ad highlights features like Astrophotography, built-in VPN, battery sharing, and more. Let’s take a look at what the campaign is all about.

Google is amping up the cringe with its latest ad campaign for its Pixel phones. The star is the Pixel 7 Pro, which is having a series of conversations with what looks like an iPhone 14 Pro in a case. So far so weird. But wait, there’s more! Much, much more.

See, the iPhone is jealous of the Pixel, because the Pixel can do so many things it can’t. Or something like that. The robotic voices definitely don’t help lower the cringe levels here, not even a little bit.

So let’s start our viewing session with a video in which the iPhone says all it has to show after so many years of existence is the color of a bubble. And then dies.

Best Phones Forever

Hilarious, right? The next one is about astrophotography. The iPhone can’t see as many starry things as the Pixel. But it wants to use the flash to compensate, the poor thing.

Next up, the iPhone is freaking out about public Wi-Fi, since it doesn’t have a VPN like the Pixel. Hackers are everywhere. Hackers and airplane mode.

In this one, the iPhone is dead again, but the Pixel comes to the rescue by wirelessly charging it. Cue cringy innuendo.

And finally, the Pixel 7 Pro steps away to let the Pixel Fold have the spotlight, although the iPhone pretends like it’s talking to the same device as before, which this one clearly isn’t. So… there’s that.

Somehow, despite all of the constant mockery the iPhone gets, we’re supposed to think these two (or actually, three) are still going to remain “#BestPhonesForever”. Get it? It’s like “Best Friends Forever”, but not. Because they’re phones. Phones that talk. To each other. About each other. Not cringe at all.

Google Takes Jab at Apple in Its Latest Funny Ad Campaign

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

The new Best Phone Forever ad campaign shows iPhone 14 Pro and Google 7 Pro talking as best friends. The first video in the series (embedded above) is name Plateau and shows the beginning of the banter between the two phones.

The video starts with Apple saying how it’s now fourteen and Pixel 7 Pro saying it’s legendary. iPhone 14 Pro can be seen wishing for the features like 30x zoom, astrophotography, AI image processing, and more.

Pixel then mentions how the Blue messages bubbles are so cool, hinting at the popularity of iMessage, but iPhone says that it has to show for its 14 years of existence.

As you can see, the first video in the series sets the tone for the entire campaign. You can see Pixel 7 Pro praising the iPhone 14 Pro but with backhand compliments, which are not offensive. As you can guess by now, the four following ads are of the same tone.

The next video is Seeing Stars highlighting the astrophotography mode on Pixel 7 Pro. We can see iPhone wishing it could see the stars like Pixel does, taking night sky pictures using flash, and more.

iPhone 14 Pro Max Vs Pixel 7 Pro

What makes the video funny is the Pixel 7 Pro asking if iPhone is sending some message to extraterrestrials with its flash and iPhone responding with, “No, I am using night sight, with my night light.”

The third video, Sketchy Wi-Fi, is about the built-in dedicated VPN service Google rolled out for Pixel 7 users in December. Notably, Google also offers the same VPN service to Google One subscribers.

We can see iPhone 14 Pro being paranoid about hackers on public Wi-Fi and being astonished at Pixel 7 Pro’s VPN being free.

Case in point, Apple doesn’t have a dedicated VPN on devices, and third-party VPN apps are expensive.

The fourth video in the series, called Lifesaver, is the most hilarious one, where the iPhone is seen lying dead because of streaming the friendly football coach series (Ted Lasso reference).

iPhone 14 Pro
iPhone 14 Pro

The Pixel 7 Pro is seen flipping the iPhone over and lying on top of it to revive using the Battery Share feature. Notably, iPhones are notorious for fast-draining batteries and have been the butt of the joke for this for too long.

The last video in the series is Opening Up, where the Pixel 7 Pro is replaced by Pixel Fold, asking iPhone if it can notice anything new about the Pixel.

This is where the comedy callback is expertly placed by the media agency, with iPhone recollecting all features mentioned in the ad series but not spotting the obvious. The video ends with the Pixel Fold unfolding and asking iPhone if it wants to play games, clearly taking a jab at no foldable iPhone in Apple’s portfolio.

While Google’s #BestPhoneForever ad campaign is a quirky and friendly take on the rivalry, it is a double-edged sword taking a jab at Apple in every ad. It remains to be seen how Apple will react to the campaign.

1) Google’s new Mac vs. PC-esque Pixel ads argue the iPhone has plateaued [Video].Details?

Ans) The last time a Google ad explicitly went after the iPhone was in 2019 with “Phone X.” Google is back with a “Best Phones Forever” campaign of five ads that highlight what features the Pixel has over the iPhone.

The premise of this ad series is a talking iPhone 14 Pro (Siri-esque voice) and Pixel 7 Pro, as well as Pixel Fold, (Google Assistant-esque) that have decided to “stop being rivals and start being friends.” There’s a “Get a Mac“ vibe to this ad campaign where the PC in 2006-09 was portrayed by John Hodgman and Justin Long was the Apple computer.
Despite that set-up, this is, of course, an ad used to highlight what features the Pixel has over the iPhone. The most biting one is “Plateau,” where the iPhone insinuates that it, especially with the 14 series, has plateaued:

iPhone: Well, when I turned fourteen, I started to see things… differently.
Pixel: Wow, fourteen! The big one-four.
iPhone: When I was your age, people were showing me off to their friends.
Pixel: They still do! You’re legendary.
iPhone: It’s not the same. The way their friends compliment your photos, “So sharp!”
Pixel: I can unblur your photos for you; we don’t have to tell anyone.
iPhone: Just stop. Astrophotography mode, Call Assist, 30x Zoom. You can do so many things I may never be able to.
Pixel: No, don’t say that!
iPhone: It’s true. I’m actually jealous of your… your… AI.
The line about the iPhone “never be(ing) able to” is a bit strong since camera innovation is always an area of continued improvement while hitting the iPhone on its generational age is pretty strong. iMessage is, of course, addressed and insinuated as the iPhone’s only key feature while it ends with a knock about the current lack of USB-C:
Pixel: But what about your blue bubbles? They’re so blue.
iPhone: The bubbles! The bubbles! Is all I have to show for all my years on Earth the color of a bubble? I mean, millions of people have waited in line for me.
Pixel: Right!
iPhone: I’ve been the most popular lighter at concerts for over a decade.
Pixel: Preach!
iPhone: I’m in the pockets of some of the most-[CHIME OF BATTERY DYING] Pixel: Ah, quick! Somebody get a lightning charger!
There are dedicated ads about astrophotography (where the Pixel says “Andromeda“), reverse wireless charging (with a Ted Lasso reference), and the Pixel’s free Google One VPN (for five years).

The final ad is called “Opening Up,” with the 7 Pro replaced by a Pixel Fold and the reveal being the bigger inner screen.

2) Google’s Humorous New Pixel Ads Argue the iPhone Has Plateaued.Details?

Ans) Google today launched a humorous “BestPhonesForever” ad campaign that pits the latest Pixel smartphones against the iPhone, painting the ‌iPhone‌ as an old, outdated phone that was once great, but can no longer keep up with the younger smartphones (via 9to5Google).

There are a series of five ads. In “Plateau,” the ‌iPhone‌ laments being 14 years old and unable to keep up with Pixel features like 30x zoom, astrophotography, and AI. The Pixel smartphone comforts the ‌iPhone‌ by mentioning the ‌iPhone‌’s blue bubbles.

“The bubbles! The bubbles! Is all I have to show for all my years on earth the color of a bubble? I mean, millions of people have waited in line for me,” bemoans the ‌iPhone‌. Eventually, the ‌iPhone‌ runs out of battery, and the Pixel phone is left calling for a charger. “Ah quick! Somebody get a Lightning charger!”

In another ad, the two smartphones are star gazing and the ‌iPhone‌ is lamenting that it isn’t able to see the stars like the Pixel can with its astrophotography mode, while a third ad makes fun of Apple’s privacy stance on public WiFi.

“I’m freaking out! Quick, get off the public Wi-Fi,” says the ‌iPhone‌ dramatically. “There are… hackers, in this place.” The Pixel smartphone reassures the ‌iPhone‌ that the Pixel has a built-in VPN that keeps it safe, a function not available on the ‌iPhone‌.

In a fourth spot, the pixel smartphone suggests shooting some videos before noticing that the ‌iPhone‌ has a dead battery. The Pixel uses Qi-based charging to charge up the ‌iPhone‌ on the fly. A final video sees the ‌iPhone‌ jealously recounting all of the Pixel’s features. The Pixel shows off its latest feature, folding technology, and the ‌iPhone‌ faints in shock. “What year is it? Do we have flying cars yet?” asks the ‌iPhone‌.

Google is using the “BestPhonesForever” tag with the new campaign, which is highlighting the Pixel Fold. Google came out with the Pixel Fold back in May, with the smartphone priced at $1,800. Apple has not yet come out with a foldable smartphone and there is no word on when the company plans to do so.

Apple rolls out iOS 16.5.1 update, fixes ‘critical’ security flaw on iPhones: Here’s how to download & Why You Should Update Your iPhone Right Away

HIGHLIGHTS

* Apple is rolling out iOS 16.5.1 update to iPhone 8 and later models.
* The new update brings two new security updates and lightning to USB 3 adapter fix.
* The Cupertino-based tech giant is also rolling out iPadOS 16.5.1, macOS 13.4.1, and watchOS 9.5.2 updates.

iPhone users, you should update your device to the latest software update. Apple has rolled out iOS 16.51, which among other features, fixes two critical security flaws.

According to a report by The Washington Post, these security flaws had been used to hack iPhones in Russia. Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky had flagged off the security flaws and Apple has thanked them for pointing it out.

 iOS 16

Kaspersky had pointed out that “the malicious code installed after infection had 24 commands, including extracting passwords from Apple’s Keychain, monitoring locations, and modifying or exporting files,” as per The Washington Post report.

In its release notes, Apple said that “an app may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited against versions of iOS released before iOS 15.7.”

The second security flaw is related to the Webkit and Apple noted “Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.”

The update is available for iPhone 8 and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 5th generation and later.

 iOS 16

As for the overall update, the release notes note that “this update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users. It also fixes an issue that prevents charging with the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter.”

Apple is rolling out the iOS 16.5.1 update to iPhone users worldwide, less than a couple of months after iOS 16.5 came out.

 iOS 16

Notably, iOS 16.5 broke the charging support for lightning to USB 3 camera adapter, which the latest update fixes.

Additionally, iOS 16.5.1 also brings bug fixes and security patches to address security vulnerabilities that may have been actively exploited. This is the reason why those who have iPhone 8 or newer model must update their iPhones to iOS 16.5.1.

iOS 16.5.1 Brings Security and Camera Adapter Fixes

 iOS 16

Apple is rolling out the latest iOS 16.5.1 update to all those who have iPhone 8 or newer. The changelog states, “This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users. It also fixes an issue that prevents charging with the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter.”

Like every other x.x.1 iOS update in the past, iOS 16.5.1 is also a minor update but brings significant fixes for security vulnerabilities.

 iOS 16

It’s advised to download and install the latest update as soon as possible after it’s available on your device.

According to the official Apple security support webpage, the new update brings fixes for two security vulnerabilities, which might have been actively exploited by bad elements. These include kernel and WebKit vulnerabilities.

The kernel vulnerability exposed the core of the iOS code to malicious applications that could execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges to gain third-party unrestricted access to the system.

 iOS 16

On the other hand, the WebKit vulnerability also leads to arbitrary code execution, which allows a third party to hack your device or steal sensitive data.

Apple has received reports of both these vulnerabilities being exploited actively and hence fixed the issues in the latest update.

However, the company notes that these vulnerabilities were actively exploited on iPhones and iPads running iOS 15.6 or older. Therefore, those who are on iOS 16 are already safe. But for an extra measure, it’s best to update to iOS 16.5.1 as soon as possible.

How to Update Your iPhone to iOS 16.5.1?

 iOS 16

Those on iPhone 8 and newer should be able to update their device to the latest iOS 16.5.1 immediately. Follow the steps below to update your iPhone.

3. Click on the Software Update option.
4. You should see the iOS 16.5.1 update.
5. Tap on Download and Install.

Who are eligible for iOS 16.5.1 update?

 iOS 16

Apple says that the list of eligible iPhones include iPhone 8 and later. The Cupertino-based company has also rolled out iPadOS 16.5.1 which is available for iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 5th generation and later.

2) Apple rolls out iOS 16.5.1 update, fixes ‘critical’ security flaw: Here’s how to download?

Ans) Apple has released iOS 16.5.1 update for the iPhone users. The update comes with fix for a critical security which, as per a report by The Washington Post, had been used to exploit iPhones in Russia.

The security flaw was detected by Russian security software maker Kaspersky Lab. It said that the attack happened by sending an iMessage with a malicious attachment. The attacker, as per the security firm, can infect the user’s device and run the code without ever seeing the message.

Sharing more details, Kaspersky said that the malicious code installed after infection had 24 commands. These were commands like extracting passwords from Apple’s Keychain, monitoring locations, and modifying or exporting files, says the report.

In its release notes, Apple says that the iOS 16.5.1 update fixes two critical security flaws. The company says that it is aware that an app may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. It also knows of “a report that this issue may have been actively exploited against versions of iOS released before iOS 15.7.”

Faqs

1) Newest Tech Gadgets for Summer Travel.Details?

Ans) Travel is all about technology, from GPS and Waze, to Airbnb and, well, airplanes. But beyond these basics? That’s when it becomes essential to equip yourself. During the busy summer travel season, the right gear can keep you hydrated, ventilated, and entertained, allowing you to relax into a Nantucket beach vacation easily, or insulate you from the worst insults of a red-eye to Omaha.

Technology starts low. As in—below the waist. Yes, flying in a suit in the 1960s was glamorous, but who wants to sweat through tweed? Instead, try the ventilated support of Lululemon’s ABC Jogger WovenAir, which wicks sweat without compression.

Should turbulence dress your pants with cranberry cocktail, rinse and hang-dry at destination with the Flexo-Line travel clothesline, which can be strung across anything short of the San Francisco Bay. Finally, fortify your baggage with a TSA-approved lock and a Cincha travel belt, which guarantees your tote bag won’t spill its guts—and the $50 SPF inside it—on the jetway. Now, here’s the high tech.

Kindle Scribe (16 GB)

Light weight, long lasting battery, and a larger screen than previous models make the Amazon Kindle Scribe a travel necessity for bookworms. As the name suggests, Scribe also allows for users to draw on the screen or write notes directly onto, for example, their favorite passages of a novel.

Google Pixel Fold

Baggage restrictions get more severe by the day. Why not leave the tablet at home? The Google Pixel Fold unfurls into a 7.6-inch tablet on stainless-steel hinges, with a powerful camera—here, 48 megapixels. With up to 72 hours of battery life, you might endure your entire long weekend getaway on one charge.

Apple AirTag 4 Pack

Even organized types misplace things while hustling out the door. Cut down on the panic with the Apple AirTag, which wirelessly transmits the location of crucial items to your phone. Tag your wallet! Tag your passport! Tag your kids! All the info is encrypted, so your valuables can betray their whereabouts to you alone.

Ostrichpillow Heated Neck Wrap

If you ask really nicely, or bring a forged doctor’s note, a flight attendant might agree to heat up this compact, clay-bead-filled neck wrap in the nut-warming oven, allowing it to provide soothing radiant heat to the tension-prone muscles in the neck. If not, its pleasing weight is enough to comfort.

Anker 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafe

Anker is the king of aftermarket charging solutions, and this Apple-specific block makes wrestling with a thatch of dingy white cables a thing of the past. The block doubles as a phone stand, turning your airplane tray table into a mini cinema.

Nothing Phone (2) Price & Storage Options In Europe Leaked Ahead of Launch: Check Nothing Phone(1) Successor Flagship Pricing & Specifications

0
Nothing Phone (2)

HIGHLIGHTS

* Nothing Phone (2)’s alleged pricing and storage options in Europe have been leaked.
* The smartphone will reportedly come in two colour options.
* Here’s a look at how the Nothing Phone (2) could be priced according to this leak.

Nothing Phone (2) is one of the most anticipated smartphones, and it’s coming on July 11th. The company has been revealing bits and parts about the phone gradually but there have been several leaks around it as well.

Now a leak reveals what’s supposed to be the storage options and pricing of the Nothing Phone (2) in Europe.

Nothing Phone (2)

The leaked pricing of the Nothing Phone (2) suggests an almost double increase, which implies we can expect more than just a chipset (which has already been confirmed) and storage upgrade.

Nothing Phone (2) Price and Storage (Rumoured)

Nothing Phone (2)

The Nothing Phone (2) will be available in two storage variants, and in two colour options.
According to a report by French publication Dealabs Magazine, the Nothing Phone (2) will start at €729 (Rs 65,600 approx) for the base model with 256GB storage.

The smartphone is also said to come in 512GB storage, and this variant will cost €849 (Rs 76,400 approx). The leak comes from a French source, but the prices across Europe are expected to be consistent.

For context, the Nothing Phone (1) came in three variants, but all with 256GB storage. If this leak is indeed true, the Nothing Phone (2) will be getting a 512GB variant for the first time.

Nothing Phone (2)

The Nothing Phone (1) launch price was €469 for the entry-level model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is almost half of the leaked price of Phone (2).
In terms of colour options, the Nothing Phone (2) will come in white and black just like the Nothing Phone (1).

This isn’t the official pricing, and it’s also for the European market so it will be different for other markets including India. There’s less than three weeks to go for the Nothing Phone (2) launch so we’ll know the official pricing soon.

Nothing Phone (2) Specifications (Expected)

Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing has so far confirmed a few things about its upcoming phone, and we’ve also come across leaks and rumours. So here’s a roundup of what we know so far about the Nothing Phone (2).

* Display: The smartphone’s display is confirmed to be 0.15 inches bigger than the Nothing Phone (1) which means it will be a 6.7-inch screen as compared to the latter’s 6.55-inch display.
* Processor: Nothing Phone (2) is confirmed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.
* Battery: The smartphone is also confirmed to pack a 4,700mAh battery.
* Software: On the software front, the Nothing Phone (2) will most likely run Android 13-based Nothing OS 2.0 out of the box. It will also received three years of Android updates and four years of security updates.
* Cameras: The Nothing Phone (2) could come feature a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS). There’s also no word on whether it will be a dual or triple camera setup. For selfies, we could see a 16MP front camera on the Nothing Phone (1).
* Others: The company has shown the design of the Nothing Phone (2)’s USB Type-C cable which is going to be a transparent one. In India, the smartphone will be available via e-commerce platform Flipkart.

Nothing Phone (2) pricing and storage options in Europe leak ahead of launch

Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing is yet to release its smartphone for 2023 called Nothing Phone (2) and this time around, it appears to be almost a proper flagship. We say almost because it will employ last year’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC instead of the more recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

In any case, pricing is expected to go up significantly but by how much? Thanks to a French media outlet, we have the pricing of two Nothing Phone (2) storage options – 256GB and 512GB.
The former will likely be paired with 8GB of RAM and will set you back €729 while the beefier 12GB/512GB version will ask €849.

That’s a near-double increase suggesting that there’s going to be more than just a chipset upgrade in store for us.

For reference, the Nothing Phone (1)’s launch price was €469 for the entry-level model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

And even though the leak comes from France and it’s about the French market, prices across Europe will be almost identical.

1) Nothing Phone (2): Flagship pricing leaks with 512 GB storage option for Phone (1) successor.Details?

Ans) According to a reliable leaker, Nothing has priced its second-generation smartphone for 55% more than last year’s Phone (1). Equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset and sporting a familiar design, the Nothing Phone (2) is rumoured to launch with 256 GB and 512 GB of storage variants.

Nothing is well into its Phone (2) teaser campaign, with the company even going so far as to showcase the smartphone’s USB Type-C cable. While Nothing has not even announced a Phone (2) release date yet, @billbil_kun has revealed European pricing that may surprise Nothing fans. For context, the Phone (1) starts at €469 in the Eurozone with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Reportedly, Nothing will not offer the Phone (2) with 128 GB of storage. Instead, there will be 256 GB and 512 GB variants that @billbil_kun expects Nothing to mate to 8 GB and 12 GB of RAM, respectively. According to the leaker, the Phone (2) will start at €729, including taxes. Meanwhile, the 512 GB edition is said to cost €849,

Arguably, a more appropriate point of comparison with the cheapest Phone (2) SKU will be the 8 GB/256 GB version of the Phone (1), which retails for €499. Even then, the entry-level Phone (2) is €230 more expensive than the equivalent Phone (1) SKU.

Hence, the Phone (2) will only slightly undercut current flagship smartphones, such as the Pixel 7 Pro and the OnePlus 11. In other words, Nothing has moved on from selling mid-range smartphones in a single generation, with a 55% price increase between the cheapest Phone (1) and Phone (2) SKUs.

2) Prices for the Nothing Phone (2) reportedly leak in Europe.Details?

Ans) The highly anticipated Nothing Phone (2) and Nothing OS 2.0 are scheduled to be released on July 11th. While we don’t know the exact details of what the device will look like, the little we know points to it having a higher set of specs than its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (1).

One other detail about the device that has been kept tight-lipped is the price tag. Carl Pei, Founder and CEO of Nothing, has been extremely cautious and meticulous with his marketing tactic of bringing the second iteration of the Nothing Phone to the U.S. smartphone market. We only get bits and pieces at a time, building up the hype and speculation on how much more of an upgrade the Phone (2) will be over the Phone (1).

However, new info has come to light via the French publication Dealabs Magazine, which is shedding some light on what the Nothing Phone (2) will reportedly cost in Europe. According to the source, they were able to get their hands on the price for the two variations of the phone that will be sold in France.

According to previous leaks, the Nothing Phone (2) is expected to be released in both a 256GB and 512GB tier, and this most recent leak corroborates that. In France, the 256GB base model is expected to cost 729€, which roughly converts to $796 USD. That’s an $800 USD price tag, which puts this device slightly under other flagships sold in the U.S., with similar storage capacity, such as the 256GB Pixel 7 Pro ($999 USD), the 256GB Samsung S23+ ($999 USD), and the 256GB iPhone 14 Pro ($1099 USD).

Similarly, the leak states that the 512GB version of the Phone (2) is priced at 849€, which roughly converts to $930 USD. Both of these tiers are supposed to have a black and a white variant, just like the original Phone (1) did.

So far, the only specs that have been confirmed for the Nothing Phone (2) are that it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, come equipped with a 4,700mAh battery, and include support for three years of Android system updates and four years of security updates. Based on what little info we currently have, it is difficult to discern if the rumored price tag is warranted when compared to the competition.

However, Pei has clearly stated that he intends for the Nothing Phone (2) to be a premium device that can compete with the big dogs, with a special interest in attracting iPhone users. At $300 USD less than the current iPhone and the allure design-wise that the first Nothing Phone was, Pei may be uniquely positioned here to enter the highly competitive U.S. smartphone market.

Samsung Galaxy M34 5G: Leaked Specifications

Samsung Galaxy M34 5G

The Samsung Galaxy M34 5G will be one of the new mid-range smartphones launching soon in India. The phone’s design has been officially teased. The Amazon microsite reveals that the Galaxy M34 5G will launch in India in two colours — Blue and Green.

The teaser video shows that the phone will sport a triple-camera setup on the back. There will be three circular cutouts, each housing a camera sensor. Next to the camera sensors is the LED flash module.

The phone’s frame and rear seem to be curved. One of the teasers also shows that the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner below the volume rocker.

In addition to the above details, tipster Abhishek Yadav has listed some of the specs of the phone. Based on the leaked specifications, it is likely that the Galaxy M34 5G will be a rebadged version of the Galaxy A34 5G.

The phone will likely feature a 6.6-inch sAMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. It will offer support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is likely to sport a notch at the top for the front camera.

It will feature the latest Android 13 update and have a layer of One uI 5.1 on top. Other specifications include support for Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, USB 2.0 Type-C port, etc. The phone will likely weigh around 199 grams and measure 8.2mm in thickness.

Samsung Galaxy M34 5G: Expected Price in India

Samsung Galaxy M34 5G

Samsung will announce the price of the Galaxy M34 5G at the launch. Looking at the leaked specs, we can expect the Galaxy M34 5G price in India to start at under Rs 25,000 for the base model.

The Galaxy M33 5G, its predecessor, was launched at a starting price of Rs 18,999 for the base 6GB + 128GB storage option. Looking at the number of upgrades, coupled with an increase in the cost of components, it would not be a surprise if the Galaxy M34 5G receives a price bump over the outgoing model.

iOS 17

HIGHLIGHTS

* Passkey support works anywhere you can use your Apple ID.
* Apple ID is automatically assigning a passkey for login purposes.
* Apple ID passkey support will work on both Apple and non-Apple devices.
* Starting with iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma, users with an Apple ID will automatically be assigned a passkey.
* This passkey can be used to sign in to their Apple ID on the web.
* iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma are currently in the developer’s beta testing phase.

Apple is one of the big tech companies that see passkeys as the future of logging into websites and apps. It has been offering support for passkeys for quite some time and has now expanded the same to Apple ID.

Yes, you read that right. The Cupertino-based tech giant has released passkey support for Apple IDs with the latest iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma beta builds. The good thing is that it will work on both Apple and non-Apple devices.

iOS 17

Apple has announced that starting with iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma, users with an Apple ID will automatically be assigned a passkey. This passkey can be used to sign in to their Apple ID on the web.

Apple says that this change will allow users to sign into any Apple web property using the designated passkey for their Apple ID and it can be used with Sign in with Apple on the web. iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma are currently in the developer’s beta testing phase and a public release is expected to take place next month.

Apple Passkey on iOS 17, iPadOS, and macOS Sonoma

iOS 17

* Users running beta versions of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma can test it on iCloud.com and appleid.apple.com starting today.
* This will be available for all supported devices running on the latest Apple software later this year.
* Security is one of the major strengths of Apple and this works across all devices, including iPhone, iPad, MacBooks and others as well.
* This Passkey will eliminate the need for a password when signing into various web-based Apple pages.
* Apple users have relied on their Apple ID and password to log in to Apple websites like Apple Store, iCloud and others.
* This made the accounts vulnerable to threats such as phishing and hacking as passwords are often stolen.
* Users can now replace Passkeys with Face ID or Touch ID to authenticate the login pages of Apple pages as well.

Passkeys are Much More Secure

iOS 17

Passkeys are much more secure compared to passwords, according to Apple. “A passkey is a cryptographic entity that’s not visible to you, and it’s used in place of a password. A passkey consists of a key pair, which—compared to a password—profoundly improves security.

One key is public, registered with the website or app you’re using. The other key is private, held only by your devices,” Apple explained in a post.

There are reports suggesting that Apple Passkey support will be expanded to third-party apps and websites that support the “Sign-in with Apple” feature. The timeline for this is not clear at the moment.

Passkey Support for Apple ID in Beta Testing

iOS 17

Apple has reportedly expanded passkey support to Apple IDs with the current iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonomo beta versions.

It means beta testers of these software builds can now sign into their Apple IDs without entering the password.

iOS 17

It is found to be working on Apple websites like iCloud.com, apple.com, appleid.apple.com, and apple.com/shop/bag.

It is safe to assume by the team Apple releases stable software builds, the feature should work across all websites that offer the option of signing in with Apple ID. As for what is the passkey, Apple ID is said to be generating and assigning it to your account automatically.

What is Passkey?

iOS 17

Per Apple, a passkey consists of a key pair where one key is public and another key is private. The public key is registered with the website/app you are using and the private key is held only by your device.

Since a public key is unique for each website/app and the private key always stays on your device, a passkey is considered to be a more secure way of logging into websites as compared to passwords.

A user does not have to create or remember a passkey which makes it convenient to use as well. You can read our explainer on passkeys to know about them in detail.

How to Use Passkey with Apple ID?

iOS 17

The first step is to ensure that you are running the latest iOS 17 beta or macOS Sonoma beta. Next, you need to visit an Apple website that allows signing in with your Apple ID.

Enter your registered email address and you should see a new “Sign in with iPhone” button alongside the existing option of entering the password.

iOS 17

Click on this new button and you will see a QR code. Scan the code using your iPhone and then authenticate yourself via Face ID or Touch ID.

This way, you will be able to sign in without entering the password. It is important to note that since the feature is currently in beta testing, the user experience may not be smooth and it could actually be a hit or miss based on the device you are using.

Apple IDs now support passkeys — if you’re on the iOS 17 or macOS Sonoma betas

iOS 17

It appears that passkeys are now supported for Apple IDs, but only if you have the first beta for iOS 17 (or iPadOS 17 or macOS Sonoma).

Beta users of Apple’s operating systems then have the ability to sign in anywhere that supports signing in with your Apple ID — covering not only Apple.com and icloud.com, but also anywhere else your Apple account is linked to — sans passwords, using just the biometrics on their iPhone or MacBook and a dream.

It works anywhere that supports signing in with your Apple ID. For example, if I want to sign in to Reddit and look at my favorite John Oliver-themed subreddits, I can tap the “Continue with Apple” button on the sign-in screen, and I’ll be given the option to sign in by scanning a QR code with my iPhone.

The feature appears to work on any Apple device — I was able to use a passkey successfully in Chrome, Safari, and Arc. When trying on a Windows PC in Chrome, the same “Sign in with iPhone” button showed up, but the request timed out when I scanned the QR code. On an Android phone, I didn’t see the button at all.

Once you’ve created the passkey on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, it syncs across all of your Apple devices, letting any of them use the biometric logins set up on that system to sign in with your Apple ID.

Since passkeys aren’t exclusively the domain of Apple, once it’s fully launched, you should be able to generate them on non-Apple devices for passwordless sign-in with your Apple ID, too, using Android or Windows using either the Chrome or Edge browser, which each support passkeys.

iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma Add Passkey Support to Your Apple ID

Starting with iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma, users with an Apple ID will automatically be assigned a passkey, allowing them to sign into their Apple ID with Face ID or Touch ID instead of their password on various Apple sign-in pages, including icloud.com, appleid.apple.com, appstoreconnect.apple.com, and more.

Passkeys are a more secure alternative to passwords. Apple explains:
A passkey is a cryptographic entity that’s not visible to you, and it’s used in place of a password.

A passkey consists of a key pair, which—compared to a password—profoundly improves security.

One key is public, registered with the website or app you’re using. The other key is private, held only by your devices.

Passkey support for Apple IDs will also be available for third-party apps and websites that support the “Sign in with Apple” feature.

Users running beta versions of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma can test this functionality on supported Apple sign-in pages starting today, but it does not yet appear to be available for everyone.

All users with an Apple ID will be able to sign in with a passkey once the software updates are released to the public later this year.

Passkey support on the Apple ID page was spotted earlier by Twitter user @aaronp613.

Faqs

1) What are passkeys?

Ans) Passkeys can replace traditional passwords with your device’s own authentication methods. That way, you can sign in to Gmail, PayPal, or iCloud just by activating Face ID on your iPhone, your Android phone’s fingerprint sensor, or with Windows Hello on a PC.

Built on WebAuthn (or Web Authentication) tech, two different keys are generated when you create a passkey: one stored by the website or service where your account is and a private key stored on the device you use to verify your identity.

Of course, if passkeys are stored on your device, what happens if it gets broken or lost? Since passkeys work across multiple devices, you may have a backup available. Many services that support passkeys will also reauthenticate to your phone number or email address, or to a hardware security key if you have one.

Meanwhile, other services like Gmail won’t let you completely remove the password from your account yet, just in case. Apple and Google’s password vaults already support them, and so do password managers like 1Password and Dashlane. 1Password has also created an online directory listing services that allow users to sign in using a passkey.

2) Apple ID supports passkeys on iOS 17, iPad OS 17, and macOS Sonoma. Here’s how to test it out?

Ans) Apple is automatically assigning a passkey to users with the latest software updates announced at WWDC 2023.

The iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma updates will enable users to sign into their Apple ID on the web with a passkey instead of a password. Apple has been making moves towards using passkeys as a more secure method of accessing your accounts.

Unlike a traditional password that can be easily stolen or hacked, a passkey is a unique key that’s tethered to your device. Instead of typing in a password, a passkey authenticates your identity through a pin code or biometric scan like Face ID that’s already associated with your device.

Now, instead of trying to remember yet another password, you can sign into Apple web sites with a passkey. Apple ID passkeys also work with any site that is linked to your Apple ID, so you might see this option on other sites that have the option to login with Apple.

The latest software updates are currently in developer beta, which is free to install. But if you don’t want to deal with beta-related bugs, the passkey feature will be available when iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma are publicly released later this year. If you have the developer beta, here’s how to try it out using iOS 17.

Install the developer beta

For the first time, Apple has made developer betas free and available to everyone, instead of requiring a $99 membership to the Developer Program. For a quick primer on how to install iOS 17, take a look at this guide.

Passkeys are available to test out on Apple’s cloud storage site iCloud, and the Apple ID site, which lets you access Apple services like Messages, FaceTime, the App Store, and the Apple Store from the web. Click sign in to get started, and enter your Apple ID.

Choose ‘Sign in with iPhone’

Once you’ve entered your Apple ID, you’ll be prompted with an option to enter your password or sign in with your iPhone. As you’ll see here, this option says it requires iOS 17 or later.

Scan the QR code

Choosing this option generates QR code. With the device that has iOS 17 installed, scan the QR code and tap the link that says “Sign in with a passkey.”

Sign in with Face ID

On your iPhone, a window will pop up prompting you to sign in with Face ID. Click continue. Behind the scenes, Apple is generating a unique code that authenticates your device and connects it to your Apple ID. From here, you’ll be signed in without the need to enter a password.

3) iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma automatically generates Apple ID passkeys, now available on Apple․com and iCloud․com

Ans) You can now forgo entering your password on icloud.com and apple.com domains thanks to newly added passkey support. When running iOS 17 on an iPhone, any Apple site on the web can rely instead on Face ID or Touch ID to authenticate your login.
As part of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma, your Apple ID is automatically assigned a passkey that can be used for iCloud and Apple sites.

If you’re running iOS 17 on your iPhone, you can try it out now. Just go to any sign-in page with an apple.com or icloud.com domain, like appleid.apple.com or www.apple.com/shop/bag, and look for the Sign in with iPhone button after your enter your Apple ID email address.

We’ve tried this from Safari on the Mac, although you can use passkeys on non-Apple devices as well. Once you select Sign in with iPhone, a QR code is presented that you scan with your iPhone. If you scan the QR code from the Camera app, you can tap the yellow link box to invoke Face ID or Touch ID to authenticate your identity on the web without ever entering your password.

Passkey is an industry-wide effort to create a more secure authentication system for our digital lives. Password best practices include using strong, unique passwords for every digital account, but passkeys provide a simpler method that relies on your smartphone to authenticate your account credentials.

“Based on FIDO Alliance and W3C standards, passkeys replace passwords with cryptographic key pairs,” explains Apple. “These key pairs profoundly improve security.”

3. The device will pack a much bigger battery than the outgoing model.
4. Realme Pad 2 has received BIS certification

Realme Pad 2 India launch seems imminent. The reason behind it is that the tablet has received approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India.

Last month, the device was approved by the Bluetooth SIG authority. These certifications suggest that the Realme Pad 2’s launch could be a couple of weeks away.

Realme Pad 2

To recall, Realme entered the tablet market in India by announcing the Helio G80-powered Realme Pad in September 2021. Last year, in April, the company unveiled the Realme Pad Mini with the Unisoc T616 chipset onboard.

In May 2022, the Realme Pad X was made official as the company’s first-ever 5G-enabled tablet. Let’s take a closer look at the limited information available about the upcoming Realme Pad 2, which has been revealed through its BIS and Bluetooth SIG certifications.

Realme Pad 2

Realme is working on the launch of the Pad 2. The upcoming Realme tablet will be a budget offering in various markets. It will debut as a successor to the Realme Pad, which was launched last year in India and some other markets.

Realme has not confirmed any details about the launch date of the tablet. However, it looks like the launch is imminent as the Pad 2 has visited the FCC certification website.

Realme Pad 2

The listing on FCC confirms some key details about the upcoming Android tablet from Realme. It reveals the battery specifications and fast charging details of the budget tablet.

Let’s take a look at the Realme Pad 2 specifications, features and other details revealed ahead of the launch.

Realme Pad 2: FCC Listing Hints at an Imminent Launch

Realme Pad 2

The Realme Pad 2 will take on the upcoming Redmi Pad 2, which is rumoured to launch soon. The Realme tab has visited the FCC website ahead of its launch. According to the listing on FCC, the Pad 2 has the model number RMP2205.

It reveals many details about the device. For starters, the tablet will pack a beefy 8360mAh battery under the hood. The battery capacity is much more than the original Realme Pad, which packed a 7100mAh cell.

Realme Pad 2

The FCC listing further revealed that the Pad 2 has support for 33W fast charging out of the box. This again will be an upgrade over the outgoing model’s 18W fast charging support.

In addition to the battery specs, the FCC listing reveals that the Pad 2 will support Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. It also shows a design schematic of the tablet, which has curved corners and a circular cutout at the top left corner for the rear camera setup.

Realme Pad 2

We expect the budget Android tablet to feature a single rear camera.

The Pad 2 has also been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website with the model numbers RMP2204 and RMP2205. It does not reveal any specs but hints at an imminent launch of the tablet in India.

The device is likely to get some more upgrades other than the battery and charging tech. We can expect the tablet to sport a slightly taller display and feature an upgraded chip over the outgoing model.

Realme Pad 2

The Realme Pad came with a 10.4-inch LCD with a 2000×1200 resolution and 360 nits of brightness. It featured a MediaTek Helio G80 SoC with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The Android tablet features an 8MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. It also offered a quad-speaker setup and came in two variants — Wi-Fi and LTE. It would not be a surprise if the Pad 2 also offers the same connectivity options.

Lastly, we can expect the Pad 2 to boot Android 13 out of the box and have a layer of Realme UI for Pad on top.

The company is likely to announce the launch date of the upcoming Android tablet soon. We will share more details as and when available.

Realme Pad Specifications

Realme Pad 2

The Realme Pad has a 10.41-inch IPS LCD panel that offers a resolution of 1,200 x 2,00 pixels, a 5:3 aspect ratio, and 360 nits of brightness. The Helio G80-powered device comes with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage.

Realme Pad 2 Tablet Gets Certified: When Is India Launch?

Realme Pad 2

The Realme Pad 2 has been spotted at the Bureau of Indian Standards. The next-generation Android tablet has cleared its certification via BIS with two different model numbers including RMP2204 and RMP2205.

The Realme Pad 2 tablet’s BIS certification listing has been first spotted by TheTechOutlook.

The dual model numbers suggest the company could launch two different versions of the Realme Pad tablet. One could be the sole Wi-Fi-only model, while the other could be the Wi-Fi+ LTE model.

Realme Pad 2

This isn’t the first time we got came across the developments surrounding the Realme Pad 2 tablet. Previously, it cleared certification via Bluetooth SIG. Both RMP2203 and RMP2205 model numbers were listed at the Bluetooth SIG certification website.

The BIS certification listing of the Realme Pad 2 tablet only reveals the model number and not the hardware features. However, the Bluetooth SIG website listing revealed Bluetooth 5.3 wireless network support in addition to the model number.

Realme Pad 2

While the Realme Pad 2 tablet has started getting certified via different mobile authentication websites, there is no exact date announced for its launch.

We only are certain of its upcoming India debut in the coming months. Realme could introduce the Pad 2 tablet by the end of 2022, but this is just anticipation.
