OnePlus is gearing up to launch two new Nord series smartphones in India. The company has confirmed that it will launch the Nord 3 and the Nord CE 3 5G on July 5 in the country.
The OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G will be the more affordable smartphone of the two launching next week in India.

The company has started to drop teasers of the mid-range smartphone ahead of the launch.
OnePlus has already revealed the rear panel design of the phone. Now, the latest teaser confirms the performance unit details of the Nord CE 3 5G.

OnePlus will most likely launch the first smartphone in India with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G SoC.

The SoC is based on a 6nm fabrication process and claims to offer up to 5 per cent improved CPU performance over Snapdragon 778G+ SoC.

Meanwhile, a recent leak revealed that the device will sport a tall 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED display. It will offer a flat display, which will offer support for a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 950 nits of brightness.

There will be a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera with support for optical image stabilisation (OIS), which is also found in the flagship OnePlus 11 5G.

OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G: Specifications Leaked So Far

The OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G will launch as a new mid-range smartphone in India. It will likely be a smartphone priced around Rs 25,000 in India.  OnePlus has not confirmed any details about the phone’s launch in India.

Meanwhile, tipster Sharma claims that the India variant of the Nord CE 3 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G SoC, which offers some incremental improvements over the much more popular Snapdragon 778G SoC. The device is said to launch in India with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM.

It will also have support for up to 16GB of RAM-vita, which is OnePlus’ way of saying virtual RAM.  There will be some gaming-centric features, such as HyperTouch and HyperBoost.
The phone is also said to pack a beefy 5000mAh battery.
It will offer support for 80W fast charging out of the box. The Nord CE 3 5G is also tipped to sport a tall 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED display.

In a new development, we have spotted the Redmi Pad 2 with the model number 23073RPBFC on the Geekbench benchmark database.

The Android tablet has been spotted on the FCC certification website previously, which has revealed some key details of the Pad 2.
The listing on the FCC website reveals that the Redmi tablet will launch with three storage options.

Let us take a quick look at the Redmi Pad 2 Geekbench scores and specifications.

Redmi Pad 2 managed to score 415 points in the single-core round of the Geekbench 6 benchmark test. Whereas, in the multi-core round test, the upcoming Redmi tablet bagged a score of 1411 points.

The benchmark database listing reveals that the Redmi Pad 2 will be equipped with an octa-core CPU. Out of eight cores, 4 cores will be clocked at 2.40GHz and the remaining 4 will be clocked at 2.40GHz.

The listing further reveals that the SoC on the Redmi Pad 2 has a codename Bengal, this means that the Redmi Pad 2 will come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor.

This is the same processor that we have seen on the Oppo Pad Air. Last year’s Redmi Pad was powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor. So, the inclusion of Snapdragon 680 on the upcoming Redmi tablet seems like a downgrade.

The Redmi Pad 2, as per the Geekbench listing, will come pre-loaded with Android 13. It will feature 4GB of memory.

Previously FCC listing had revealed that the Redmi Pad 2 will come in three memory-storage configurations – 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB, and 6GB + 128GB.

It will boot MIUI 14 out of the box as revealed in the FCC listing.

A few weeks ago, the key specifications of the Redmi Pad 2 were tipped. As per the leak, the Redmi Pad 2 will feature a 10.95-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution. It is said to offer an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

The Redmi Pad 2 has appeared at another regulatory agency, following the unreleased tablet turning up at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in May.

Now, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has certified the tablet for sale in the US as 23073RPBFL, a slightly different model number than 23073RPBFG that passed through the EEC. Either way, the tablet’s arrival at the FCC implies that Xiaomi is planning a global launch.

The FCC’s publication of initial certification documents also comes a month after Kacper Skrzypek shared various Redmi Pad 2 specifications, including the usage of a Snapdragon 680 chipset.

According to the FCC listing, Xiaomi has created the Redmi Pad 2 in three memory configurations, starting with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Alternatively, there will be 128 GB variants with 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM; for reference, the Redmi Pad features a MicroSD card reader, which we imagine that its successor will retain.

While it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will release all memory variants, it tends to streamline its lineup outside China. For example, Xiaomi only sells the Redmi Pad with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in the UK.

Additionally, the FCC reveals that the Redmi Pad 2 supports Wi-Fi 5 and runs MIUI 14, likely the Android 13 variant. With the Redmi Pad 2 racking up an increasing number of certifications, it would seem that Xiaomi will unveil the tablet soon. The Google Pixel 7a is one of the best budget phones you can get right now. Launched at I/O 2023, the device packs a handful of upgrades from its predecessor, including a beefed-up 90Hz display refresh rate.

While this still pales in comparison to the 120Hz displays on phones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, it’s a decent addition on a sub-$500 phone. However, the display on the Pixel 7a may not be operating as intended, especially in sunny conditions, as per one Reddit user.

Redditor pawlikx_iron noticed the 90Hz refresh rate comes down to 60Hz when in broad daylight, adding that it goes back up to 90Hz when they are under shade. This implies a correlation between sunlight exposure and the lowering of the device’s refresh rate.

Sunny conditions naturally make the phone hot, with one individual in the comments suggesting that the drop in the refresh rate could be due to the Pixel 7a’s built-in thermal throttling mechanism.
However, the affected user claims their Pixel 7a feels “cool, not hot.” Google is yet to comment on this behavior.

But this doesn’t necessarily mean you can never use your Pixel 7a in sunny conditions. As one user points out in the replies, all you need to do is head over to Developer options from your Pixel 7a’s Settings and toggle Force peak refresh rate.

A quick search for this toggle within the Settings app would work, too. You can follow Google’s instructions to enable Developer options on your Pixel 7a if you haven’t done so already

The Pixel 7a’s display has a refresh rate up to 90Hz, which switches to 60Hz depending on the phone’s usage and power management.

If the temperature outside is hot, then it would make sense for the Pixel 7a to automatically drop the refresh rate to 60Hz. This is because a higher refresh rate leads to more battery consumption.

But this wasn’t the case for this Pixel 7a user. It isn’t clear yet why this happens but it could be due to outdoor brightness affecting the phone’s display.

This might also not affect many users, except for those who are deeply concerned about the scrolling experience on their Pixel 7a. And for such users who wish to have this, then they can make some adjustments. This is by setting 90Hz as the default refresh rate setting for the Pixel 7a from the Developer options, and turn on ‘Force peak refresh rate’.

You will have to first enable Developer options by going to Settings > About phone > Build number. Then tap on Build number till you see the message that says, “You are now a developer!” You can then change certain settings available under Developer options.

It was revealed last week that Google may be using a slightly slower version of the Tensor G2 chip on the Pixel 7a compared to the one used on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

Shortly after launch users noted that the Pixel 4 was having issues maintaining a 90Hz refresh rate — and the problem was lighting conditions. Setting the screen brightness below 75% caused a dip to 60hz, except in conditions with sufficient ambient lighting, with Google noting this was a power-saving move. Shortly after this news broke Google released updates to ensure 90hz was available in more lighting conditions.

It’s not clear whether Google will do anything similar with the Pixel 7a, but there is something you can do about it at home. As one Reddit user points out, heading into Developer options will reveal an option to Force peak refresh rate. That should force your phone to stick to 90Hz in all conditions, though you should be aware that excess heat will affect power efficiency and could damage your battery over time.

Developer options are hidden by default, but it can be revealed by heading to Settings > About phone > tapping Build number seven times and entering your PIN. You can then find the Developer options menu in the System menu of the settings, or by searching for it.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has been rumoured to be in the works since the launch of the Galaxy S23 series earlier this year, but there’s no official confirmation from the company yet. It appears the phone will launch in the coming months.

According to SmartPrix, in collaboration with tipster OnLeaks, the Galaxy S23 FE may feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC instead of an Exynos SoC. The publication has also leaked the phone’s renders, likely based on a prototype.

The renders highlight a striking resemblance between the Galaxy A54 and the Galaxy S23 FE. Going by previous ‘FE’ models, we can expect this model to feature a mix of plastic and metal body to keep the price more affordable.

The render also showcases a white model, though there could be more options. The Galaxy S23 FE may feature a flat display and three cameras on the back.

The phone may measure 158 x 76.3 x 8.2mm, which makes it relatively bulkier than the vanilla S23. The latter measures 146.3×70.9×7.6 mm.

In terms of specifications, the Galaxy phone may come with Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, which also powers the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The new S23 series carries Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Storage configurations may include options of 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB and 256GB of storage.

The rear camera system may include a 50-megapixel sensor and the front may have a 12-megapixel snapper. Other features include a 4500mAh battery with 25W charging and an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The report suggests the Galaxy S23 FE may launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 series at the end of July. However, it is likely that Samsung may restrict the phone to select markets, which may or may not include India.

That’s because the country already has a Galaxy A54 for Rs 40,999. Whereas, the Galaxy S23 costs Rs 74,999 for the base storage variant.  On the other hand, the Galaxy S23 FE will cover the Rs 50K segment if it launches.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, the next smartphone in the Galaxy S23 series, has surfaced in renders, thanks to @OnLeaks. This has a familiar design that coincides with the other phones in the S23 series, and still retains triple rear cameras.

Based on the renders, the bezels are larger than the S21 FE. It is said to measure 158 x 76.3 x 8.2mm, making it slightly taller and thicker than the S21 FE which measures 155.7 x 74.5 x 7.9mm, even though the S23 FE is said to retain the 6.4-inch screen.

The company would also launch the device in 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. Previously, iQOO had revealed that it would equip the device with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

The chipset has ARM Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710 and Cortex-A510 cores. The flagship SoC from Qualcomm will pair with Adreno 730 GPU. iQOO also adds that the device will feature an Independent Gaming (IG) chipset.

iQOO claims the device can charge up to 50% in under 7 minutes. The reports reveal that iQOO would price the device between Rs 38,000 and Rs 43,000.
