A new leak has once again sparked discussions around Apple’s long-rumoured plan to bring under-display Face ID to the iPhone. According to the latest claim, Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce the technology with the iPhone 18 Pro in 2026. Here’s the full story.

Under-Display Face ID in iPhone 18 Pro

Speculation around this feature began when the iPhone X debuted with the notch. Since then, reports have frequently suggested that Apple would eventually hide the Face ID system beneath the display. The rumours grew louder in 2025 with a September leak hinting that under-display Face ID was planned for the iPhone 18 Pro followed by a contradictory report in November stating otherwise.

The latest update on what Apple is planning for future iPhone displays comes from leaker account name Smart Pikachu on the Chinese platform Weibo. The tipster claims that Apple is testing a new display process that could make the feature possible.

Depending on translation, the method involves either “stitching” or “spliced” micro-transparent glass, a concept similar to existing micro-perforated or nano-patterned glass solutions previously used to enhance infrared transmission. The report was first highlighted by MacRumors and suggests that this technology may be advanced enough for suppliers to begin preparing for production.

While Smart Pikachu has no established track record with Apple leaks, they have reportedly been accurate with Android-related hardware information in the past.

Under-Screen Biometrics Still Complicated

This leak specifically refers to Face ID shifting under the display. However, moving the TrueDepth system beneath the panel may not completely eliminate the notch, as it currently houses more than just the Face ID module including the proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and the front-facing camera.

The uncertainty mirrors similar conflicting claims about under-display Touch ID, especially regarding the rumoured iPhone Fold set for 2026. Some sources say the foldable device will include the technology, while others deny it.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo firmly maintains that under-display Touch ID is unlikely for the foldable model, arguing that its thinner form factor would make such integration difficult. Instead, Kuo believes the device will rely on Touch ID embedded in a side-mounted button similar to the iPad Air.

FAQs

Q1. What new feature is Apple reportedly testing for the iPhone 18 Pro?

Answer. Apple is said to be preparing under‑display Face ID using micro‑transparent glass technology, targeted for the 2026 iPhone 18 Pro launch.

Q2. Will iPhone 18 Series under‑display Face ID completely remove the notch?

Answer. Not entirely. The notch also houses sensors like proximity, ambient light, and the front camera, which may still require space.

Q3. What about under‑display Touch ID in future iPhones?

Answer. Conflicting reports exist, but analyst Ming‑Chi Kuo believes the rumoured iPhone Fold will instead use a side‑mounted Touch ID button.

iPhone 16 Named The Best-Selling Smartphone Globally in Q3 2025, Apple and Samsung Domination Evident, No Samsung Flagships in Top 10

0

Highlights

  • The iPhone 16 lineup captured the top four global spots in Q3 2025 with the standard iPhone 16 leading at 4% share.
  • Samsung filled positions 5–9 exclusively with Galaxy A-series models, driven by its “Awesome Intelligence” AI features.
  • No flagship Galaxy S device made the list, highlighting a shift toward affordability.

Apple and Samsung once again filled all 10 slots on Counterpoint Research’s list of the best-selling smartphones for the third quarter of 2025. However, the split between the two brands tells a very different story this year. While both companies secured five positions each, Apple swept the top four places with its premium iPhone 16 lineup. This was in sharp contrast to Samsung, which did not place a single flagship device in the top tier.

The research highlights that the standard iPhone 16 remained the best-selling smartphone globally in Q3 2025, commanding a 4% volume share. This marks the model’s third straight quarter at No. 1. Even more notably, the entire top four was dominated by the iPhone 16 family including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and iPhone 16e. This was despite the series typically seeing a slowdown as consumers await newer releases.

Another standout was the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which secured the 10th position even though it hit the market near the end of the quarter. Its late entry and immediate traction signal extremely strong demand for Apple’s newest, most premium offering.

Samsung’s performance skewed heavily toward its affordable lineup. The company occupied fifth to ninth place with its Galaxy A-series models, led by the Galaxy A16 5G, followed by the Galaxy A06, Galaxy A36, Galaxy A56, and Galaxy A16 4G. Unlike previous years when the base Galaxy S24 made the Q3 2024 leaderboard, Samsung had no premium smartphone appear in the 2025 list.

Counterpoint Research suggests that Samsung’s push to add AI-powered features to its midrange portfolio through its “Awesome Intelligence” initiative could be fueling these sales.

According to the report, “The mid-price segment’s presence in the top-10 best-selling smartphones is expected to remain strong, driven by the growing integration of GenAI features. It adds that these upgrades boost competitiveness, improve user value, and help narrow the experience gap with flagship models.

The absence of the Galaxy S25 from the rankings may reflect early seasonal weakness as customers anticipate the Galaxy S26 series. Still, it marks a significant gap for Samsung, as none of its top-performing models this quarter carried a wholesale price above $600.

The report also noted an important milestone that 5G smartphones dominated the top five spots for the first time, underscoring what Counterpoint calls “a key consumer preference across regions” during Q3 2025.

Overall, Apple’s premium strength and Samsung’s midrange momentum defined the quarter, painting a clear picture of current global consumer buying trends.

FAQs

Q1. Which smartphones dominated global sales in Q3 2025?

Answer. Apple’s iPhone 16 lineup took the top four spots, with the standard iPhone 16 leading at 4% share.

Q2. How did Samsung perform compared to Apple?

Answer. Samsung relied entirely on its midrange Galaxy A-series (A16 5G, A06, A36, A56, A16 4G), filling positions 5–9, while no flagship Galaxy S device made the list.

Q3. What key consumer trend was highlighted in the smartphones global sales in Q3 2025 report?

OnePlus Pad Go 2 – Unboxing and First Impression

0

Highlights

  • The OnePlus Pad Go 2 in-the-box accessories include a USB-C cable, 45W charger and documentation.
  • Other features include a 30.63cm display, MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra, OxygenOS 16.0.1, AI productivity tools, 8MP cameras and a 10050mAh battery with 33W fast charging.
  • It is set to launch on 17 December.

After much anticipation, the OnePlus Pad Go 2 is finally here. While there is still some time before this model hits the stores, we have managed to get our hands on it at MyMobiles. So, before we share the full review, here’s our first impression of the latest Pad Go 2 and a surprise unboxing.

OnePlus Pad Go 2 Unboxing

Pad Go 2 comes in OnePlus’ signature red and white retail box. The packaging is minimal and feels sturdy enough to protect the device. Opening the lid reveals the tablet sitting right on top. Underneath, the brand has neatly packed the accessories. You get the tablet itself, a USB-C cable, a 33W fast charger and the usual documentation.

Overall, the unboxing experience is clean, simple and gives a good sense of the Pad right from the start.

OnePlus Pad Go 2 Design

So, do you remember the 2023 OnePlus Pad Go? Well, if you don’t, we suggest you go back and take a look at that before we share more about the design of this successor. We feel it’s important to take a look back because it gives a positive initial impression of the new Pad Go 2.

Our first thought while getting the pad out of its box was pleasant. The dual-tone back finish is gone and instead, we have this classy appearing pad that feels premium right from the start. The design can remind you of some of the other competitive brands, but it’s definitely an upgrade in the design department.

We have the unit in Lavender Drift colour. It is a classy soft lavender hue that looks great. It has a subtle shine and a matte finish, which does an excellent job of resisting fingerprints and smudges. Altogether, the colour choice and back panel finish aren’t random and elevate the overall look of the pad. It is definitely a welcome change from the regular blacks or greys we usually get in this category.

The back panel follows a minimalist aesthetic with only a subtle OnePlus logo in the centre and the single camera lens top right-hand side corner. The camera lens placement also feels like a design upgrade when you compare it to what we have seen in Pad Go. The camera module sits neatly in the corner without sticking out too much. The buttons are placed comfortably on the right side with the power button on top.

The in-hand feel is also very robust. The boxy build with rounded corners and sharp edges makes the pad quite easy to hold. The pad is slim and lightweight with proper weight distribution.

All in all, when it comes to design, the OnePlus Pad Go 2 makes a good first impression with its slim profile and lightweight feel. It looks premium and the design adds to the overall durability.

OnePlus Pad Go 2 Features and Performance

Large 30.63cm display gives OnePlus Pad Go 2 strong start.
Large 30.63cm display gives OnePlus Pad Go 2 strong start.

When it comes to features, the OnePlus Pad Go 2 makes a solid first impression with its large 30.63cm display. The moment you power it on, the screen size immediately feels suited for entertainment, reading, and work-heavy tasks. It has that spacious look you expect from a modern productivity-focused tablets.

It runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra and OxygenOS 16.0.1. The pad feels smooth and responsive at first glance. The setup process is quick and the UI looks clean with the familiar OxygenOS layout adapted nicely for a bigger canvas. We will share more about its gaming performance and related experience in our full review.

There is an AI suite with tools like AI Write, AI Translate, and AI VoiceScribe, making it clear the brand wants this model to double as a smart productivity companion. These tools are easy to access and feel integrated rather than add-ons.

8MP dual cameras with clean design perfect for video calls.

The cameras are 8MP front and 8MP rear shooters. The front camera looks well-placed for video calls, and the rear module sits neatly without any major bump.

10050mAh battery with 45W charging delivers long, reliable all-day performance.
10050mAh battery with 45W charging delivers long, reliable all-day performance.

The 10050mAh battery is standard and should be capable of handling long hours of use without frequent charging.

It also comes with a 45W charger inside the box even though the Pad supports 33W.

Overall, the OnePlus Pad Go 2 feels solid at first glance. It is a practical, modern-looking device that feels ready for both entertainment and productivity right out of the box. We still have to wait for a few more days to know more about the price, which will definitely be a factor in the final verdict.

Stay tuned for our in-depth hands-on review where we will share more on the display, hardware, camera and battery performance.

Google has officially rolled out its Gemini 3 Deep Think model to select users, expanding its advanced AI lineup just weeks after the global launch of Gemini 3 Pro. It is positioned as Google’s next-generation reasoning-focused model and aims to tackle highly complex and niche problems across logic, mathematics, science, and multi-step reasoning. However, access to the model is restricted to the company’s most premium subscription tier.

Gemini 3 Deep Think Now Available for AI Ultra Subscribers

In a blog post, Google confirmed that the new large language model (LLM) has been released exclusively for users subscribed to the Google AI Ultra plan. The company described the model as designed for problems that challenge even the most advanced state-of-the-art models.”

Only a small group of users paying Rs. 24,500 per month for the Google AI Ultra subscription can access the model. They can enable it through the Gemini website or app by choosing “Deep Think” in the prompt bar and selecting Gemini 3 Pro from the model picker.

Powered by New ‘Parallel Reasoning’ Technique

Google says Gemini 3 Deep Think’s performance is driven by a new method called parallel reasoning. Unlike traditional models that follow a single chain of thought, Deep Think evaluates multiple solution paths simultaneously. It then refines the results through iterative rounds and selects the most coherent final answer.

Interest in Gemini 3 Deep Think has surged since its initial mention last month, largely driven by its standout benchmark results. Google highlighted two tests in particular that contributed to the model’s early attention.

The first is Humanity’s Last Exam, a notoriously tough academic reasoning benchmark. Google claims Gemini 3 Deep Think scored 41 per cent without tools, the highest score to date and significantly above other AI models.

The second is the ARC-AGI-2 benchmark, an advanced reasoning test focused on visual puzzles that require code execution for solutions. Google reports a score of 45.1 per cent, calling the achievement “unprecedented.” Notably, the test is also viewed as an indicator of a model’s progress toward artificial general intelligence (AGI).

FAQs

Q1. Who can access Google’s Gemini 3 Deep Think model?

Answer. Gemini 3 Deep Think is available exclusively to Google AI Ultra subscribers, costing Rs. 24,500 per month.

Q2. What makes Gemini 3 Deep Think different from other AI models?

Answer. It uses a new parallel reasoning technique, evaluating multiple solution paths simultaneously and refining results to deliver more coherent answers.

Q3. How has Gemini 3 Deep Think performed in benchmarks?

Answer. The model scored 41% on Humanity’s Last Exam and 45.1% on ARC-AGI-2, both unprecedented results that highlight progress toward advanced reasoning and AGI.

Meta’s Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 smart glasses recently went on sale in India, but the company’s next big wearable launch will now take longer than expected. A new report suggests that Meta has postponed its highly anticipated mixed reality smart glasses, code-named Phoenix, as the company aims to refine the product amid intensifying competition in the MR space. Alongside this, Meta is also said to be preparing a “limited edition” wearable reportedly named Malibu 2. It is expected to debut in 2026 and is in early development stages of its next-generation Quest headset. Here’s what we know so far.

According to Business Insider, which cites an internal memo from Maher Saba, VP of Reality Labs Foundation, Meta has moved the Phoenix mixed reality glasses launch to 2027. The product was initially slated for release in the second half of 2026, but the company now believes it needs additional time to refine the experience.

Another internal memo from metaverse leaders Gabriel Aul and Ryan Cairns highlights the reasoning behind the delay. They stated that extending the timeline is “going to give us a lot more breathing room to get the details right.”

They added, “there is a lot is coming in hot with tight bring-up schedules and big changes to our core UX, and we won’t compromise on delivering a fully polished and reliable experience.”

The news comes shortly after Meta launched the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 smart glasses in India, priced at Rs. 39,900. Co-developed with EssilorLuxottica, the AI-powered smart eyewear made its global debut in September as the successor to the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1.

This design choice reportedly improves comfort, reduces overall weight, and enhances thermal management. The form factor is said to resemble Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

Malibu 2 Wearable Expected in 2026

VP Maher Saba also mentioned that Meta plans to introduce a new “limited edition” wearable device in 2026, internally referred to as Malibu 2. Beyond this, Meta has already started working on its next-generation Quest headset, which is expected to deliver major improvements in both performance and cost efficiency.

In a memo, executives Gabriel Aul and Ryan Cairns revealed that the upcoming Quest will prioritise immersive gaming and will represent a “large upgrade” over current models.

Answer. Meta has delayed the Phoenix mixed reality glasses to 2027, moving it from the originally planned 2026 release to allow more time for refinement.

Is Apple’s Chip Architect Johny Srouji Leaving?

Bloomberg report states, Johny Srouji — senior vice president of hardware technologies and one of Apple’s most respected executives — recently told Cook that he is seriously considering leaving in the near future, according to people with knowledge of the matter. Srouji, the architect of Apple’s prized in-house chips effort, has informed colleagues that he intends to join another company if he ultimately departs.”

The report adds that his planned departure isn’t linked to retirement but rather a potential career shift.

Srouji has been instrumental in Apple’s silicon dominance. Under his leadership, Apple successfully transitioned the Mac lineup to its custom M-series processors and moved to in-house cellular modem and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth solutions.

In an effort to retain him, Apple has reportedly offered Srouji substantial compensation and expanded responsibilities. The company has also raised the possibility of promoting him to Chief Technology Officer, which would make him the second-most powerful figure at Apple. However, the report suggests Srouji “would prefer not to work under a different CEO,” hinting at concerns around future leadership.

If Srouji leaves, he would become the fifth major Apple executive to exit in a short span. Earlier this week, Alan Dye (design lead), John Giannandrea (AI chief), Kate Adams (general counsel), and Lisa Jackson (environment and policy VP) all confirmed their departures. Bloomberg further notes that long-time executives Dierdre O’Brien (retail chief) and Greg Joswiak (marketing SVP) are also expected to retire soon, given their decades-long careers at the company.

These developments come amid a major organisational reshuffle at Apple, widely believed to be part of the company’s preparation for Tim Cook’s eventual retirement as CEO.

Srouji joined Apple in 2008, during a crucial phase when the company decided to begin designing its own chips. Over the years, he rose to become the head of Apple’s hardware technologies division. He led the teams responsible for the A-series chips powering iPhones and the M-series processors that now run MacBooks and iPads. His work also enabled Apple to significantly reduce its reliance on Intel, ultimately redefining Apple Silicon’s balance of performance and efficiency.

The newly introduced C1 and N1 chips in multiple Apple devices this year were also developed under his guidance, further strengthening the company’s independence from third-party suppliers.

What Would His Exit Mean for Apple?

In case Srouji leaves, experts believe it would be a major setback for Apple. Known for his low-profile yet powerful leadership style, he has played a central role in shaping Apple’s hardware-software synergy and long-term silicon roadmap. His influence ensured that Apple devices functioned cohesively through tightly integrated internal components.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Update – Official Firmware Leak Confirms Major Redesign, Wireless Charging Upgrade Also Expected

0

Highlights

  • Firmware leak shows Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra will feature a pill-shaped camera island.

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series has been making headlines for months with multiple leaks teasing a significant design overhaul. While early renders suggested the brand was moving away from its signature floating camera rings. However, nothing was confirmed until Samsung accidentally revealed the new look themselves. That’s not all, we also have an update on possible wireless charge specs upgrade.

Galaxy S26 Series – Renders Leaked

Somewhat official-looking renders of the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra were discovered inside a One UI 8.5 test firmware by Android Authority. These images aren’t final marketing visuals, yet they clearly confirm the redesigned camera layout.

All three models tagged internally as M1 (S26), M2 (S26+), and M3 (S26 Ultra) now feature a raised, pill-shaped camera island with individual circular cutouts for each lens. This marks a full shift to the same visual language seen on Samsung’s Z Fold lineup since 2021, replacing the separate floating lenses of the Galaxy S25 series.

These internal tags match previous leaks tied to Samsung’s “Miracle” project, which covers the entire S26 family. The series is also expected to ship with One UI 8.5 pre-installed based on Android 16. Meanwhile, Galaxy S25 users are reportedly set to receive the One UI 8.5 beta in the second week of December.

image

If earlier renders hold true, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will also adopt softer, more rounded corners, moving away from the sharper, Note-style silhouette that has defined past Ultra models and bringing it visually closer to the rest of the lineup.

The leaked firmware images may not be polished, but their legitimacy gives them weight. Now that Samsung’s own software has revealed the redesign, speculation about the camera layout can finally end.

Galaxy S26 Series May Finally Get Faster Wireless Charging

Alongside the design leak, there’s another promising development for Galaxy fans. Samsung may finally be ready to break past the long-standing 15W wireless charging cap on its flagship phones.

image

New certifications and retailer listings reveal a Samsung Magnetic Wireless Charger (model EP-P2900), which reportedly supports up to 25W wireless charging. If accurate, this would be Samsung’s fastest wireless charging solution yet. The charger features built-in magnets for Qi2/MagSafe-style alignment, allowing the phone to snap into place for more reliable charging.

The accessory is said to come in dark grey and will support Galaxy S, Galaxy Z, and Galaxy Buds devices. It’s also expected to replace the older square EP-P2400 pad with a new circular design compatible with updated Qi2 coil layouts.

However, the faster speeds might not reach every S26 model. Leaks suggest only the Galaxy S26 Ultra will offer 25W wireless charging, while the standard S26 and S26+ may remain at 15W. This fits Samsung’s long-running pattern of keeping premium features exclusive to the Ultra variant. It also remains unclear whether Samsung has resolved the S Pen interference issues seen in older models when used with magnetic accessories.

Wired charging differences are also expected. According to reports, Galaxy S26 Ultra could be up to 60W (Super Fast Charging 3.0), Galaxy S26 Plus up to 45W and Galaxy S26 could support 25W wired charging.

FAQs

Q1. What major design change is coming to the Galaxy S26 series?

Answer. The Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra will feature a raised pill-shaped camera island with circular lens cutouts, replacing the floating lenses of the S25 series.

Q2. Will the Galaxy S26 series support faster wireless charging?

Answer. Yes, leaks suggest the Galaxy S26 Ultra may support 25W wireless charging, while the S26 and S26+ could remain at 15W.

Q3. What are the expected wired charging speeds for the Galaxy S26 lineup?

Answer. Reports indicate 60W wired charging for S26 Ultra, 45W for S26+, and 25W for the standard S26.
