It appears Oppo is working to further strengthen its position in the premium smartphone camera segment. A new leak suggests that the upcoming Oppo Find X10 Ultra could bring a significant upgrade to its dedicated 10x optical telephoto camera. Here are more details.
Oppo Find X10 Ultra Could Get a Larger 10x Telephoto Sensor
According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Oppo is preparing a substantial upgrade for the Find X10 Ultra. In a recent post on Weibo, the tipster claimed that the sensor used behind the 10x periscope telephoto camera could be upgraded to a significantly larger 1/1.95-inch sensor while retaining the same 50-megapixel resolution.

A larger sensor would allow the camera to capture more light potentially reducing image noise and improving image quality in challenging or dimly lit environments. The tipster also noted that the sensor is not expected to be the Sony LYT-600, although the exact sensor model remains unknown at this stage.
At present, details regarding the rest of the camera hardware, display specifications, and battery upgrades remain under wraps.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra debuted earlier in 2026 as one of the standout camera-focused smartphones. One of its key highlights is a Hasselblad-tuned camera system featuring a relatively uncommon 50-megapixel 10x periscope telephoto camera with a 230mm equivalent focal length.
The existing flagship is capable of delivering up to 20x “optical-quality” zoom through advanced image processing techniques. However, one area where the camera has faced criticism is low-light performance. The 10x periscope camera uses a relatively small 1/2.75-inch sensor and it struggles to match the low-light capabilities of the larger 3x periscope camera found on the same device.
Oppo Continues to Focus on Long-Range Photography

Oppo’s strategy appears aimed at strengthening one of its most distinctive camera features. The dedicated 10x optical zoom system already employs advanced periscope technology including quintuple prism reflection. Now, the company is looking to push smartphone photography closer to the experience offered by dedicated cameras.
The move could help Oppo stand out among photography enthusiasts who prefer true optical zoom performance over heavy digital zoom processing or added camera modules.
With the reported sensor upgrade, the Oppo Find X10 Ultra could emerge as one of the strongest long-range zoom camera phones on the market.
More details are expected to surface as the device moves closer to launch.
