The Realme 16 Pro has already appeared online with details about its design and core specifications. Now, a new tip has reportedly revealed when the upcoming Realme 16 Pro series will launch in India. That’s not all, a leaked image of the Realme 16 Pro+ retail box is also making rounds online. Here’s what we know based on recent leaks.

Realme 16 Pro Series – India Launch Date Leaked

According to leakster Sanju Choudhary @saaaanjjjuuu on X (formerly Twitter), the Realme 16 Pro lineup is set to arrive in India on January 6. The series will include two models, which are the Realme 16 Pro and the Realme 16 Pro+.

The tipster also claims that the standard Realme 16 Pro will be offered with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Meanwhile, the Realme 16 Pro+ is said to feature a periscope telephoto camera, a notable upgrade considering the Realme 15 Pro, which was launched in July and did not include a telephoto lens.

The China variant of the Realme 16 Pro is expected to come equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, a massive 7,000mAh battery, a 200MP primary rear camera, a 50MP selfie shooter, and up to 16GB of RAM.

This capability previously appeared on the Realme 14 Pro+, while the Realme 15 Pro skipped it entirely (the company did not release a Realme 15 Pro+). With the feature returning, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Realme 16 Pro+ is priced higher than the Realme 15 Pro.

No confirmed specifications for the Realme 16 Pro+ have leaked so far. Speculation in China suggests that the Realme 15 series may have performed poorly in sales, prompting the brand to accelerate work on its successor.

More information about the Realme 16 Pro series is expected to surface as the launch date comes closer.

0

Highlights

  • IDC forecasts a 30% YoY growth for foldable smartphones.
  • The iPhone Fold is expected in late 2026 and is projected to capture 22% of unit share and 34% of market value in its first year with a premium price of around $2,400.

IDC’s latest report points to a breakthrough year ahead for foldable smartphones fueled by what it calls the “game-changer” arrival of the iPhone Fold in 2026. The market research firm expects foldable shipments to rise by an impressive 30% year-over-year, driven by new form factors and the long-awaited entry of Apple. Here’s more on this.

IDC on the 2026 Foldable Market

According to Nabila Popal, Senior Research Director at IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, “Next year will prove exciting for the foldable category with multiple launches pushing the market to 30% YoY growth from just 6% in the prior forecast.”

She adds, Samsung will kick start 2026 with the Galaxy Z Trifold, introducing tri-fold innovation to mainstream global consumers, building off the momentum of the successful Galaxy Z Fold7 in 2025. Huawei’s foldables running on HarmonyOS Next will also see strong growth, with shipments expected to almost double in 2026.”

But the highlight of IDC’s forecast is Apple’s debut in the foldable space, which the firm calls the real disruptor. According to the report, “the real game-changer for the category comes at year-end when Apple enters the foldable space, projected to capture over 22% unit share and a staggering 34% of the foldables market value in its first year, thanks to an expected average price point of $2,400.”

Those numbers signal a bold outlook for Apple’s debut foldable. Despite foldable phones being around for roughly seven years, IDC’s projections highlight how much space Apple still has to redefine the segment or how niche the category remains until now.

First iPhone Fold – What We Know So Far?

Apple’s supply chain movements reflect a major shift. Recent reports suggest the company is gearing up for what could be its most ambitious launch since the original iPhone. The iPhone Fold appears to be well beyond prototype stages with multiple indicators pointing to rapid development progress.

One of the biggest breakthroughs reportedly achieved is the removal of the visible crease that has plagued every foldable display so far. The device is rumoured to feature a 7.8-inch inner screen with no crease and a 5.5-inch external display. The inner panel may also house an under-display camera, a technology that could eventually influence future iPad and MacBook designs.

Apple has also revised its sales expectations upward. Instead of 6–8 million units, the company now anticipates demand of 8–10 million units in the first year. This suggests growing confidence in both consumer interest and production readiness.

On the manufacturing front, this launch marks Apple’s most complex supply chain operation to date. Samsung Display is reportedly preparing 7–8 million foldable OLED panels for the iPhone Fold, requiring entirely new production lines and advanced quality checks. Apple is also stockpiling key components well before the anticipated 2026 release including titanium frames and sophisticated hinge systems capable of withstanding long-term folding durability.

Supplier diversification plays a major role in Apple’s strategy. Lens Technology from China is expected to take the lead on ultra-thin cover glass, while U.S.-based Amphenol has been shortlisted as the primary hinge supplier. This aligns with the company’s growing China+1 strategy while reducing reliance on a single vendor for critical parts.

Pricing expectations are equally premium. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo projects the iPhone Fold to land between $2,000 and $2,500, while other reports narrow it closer to $2,400. The cost reflects the phone’s complex engineering including dual premium displays, titanium construction, crease-elimination technology, and advanced hinge materials.

With IDC forecasting steep growth and Apple preparing for a major entry into foldables, 2026 could become the defining year for the next generation of smartphone design.

FAQs

Q1. What growth does IDC predict for the foldable smartphone market in 2026?

Answer. IDC forecasts a 30% year-over-year growth in foldable smartphone shipments in 2026, up from just 6% in the prior forecast.

Q2. Why is the iPhone Fold considered a “game-changer”?

Answer. Apple’s debut foldable, the iPhone Fold, is projected to capture 22% of unit share and 34% of market value in its first year, thanks to its premium pricing around $2,400 and breakthrough design features like a crease-free 7.8-inch inner display and under-display camera.

Q3. What are Apple’s sales and supply chain expectations for the iPhone Fold?

Answer. Apple has raised its first-year sales forecast to 8–10 million units. The launch involves its most complex supply chain yet with Samsung Display preparing 7–8 million foldable OLED panels, titanium frames, advanced hinge systems, and diversified suppliers such as Lens Technology (cover glass) and Amphenol (hinges).

Instagram has introduced a new update that allows users to repost any public Instagram Story to their own profiles. Interestingly, this feature works even if you are not tagged in the original post. Announcing the new features in a post on Threads, Instagram’s official account wrote, “ever see a public story you’re not tagged in that you want to share to your own story? now you can.”

Here’s everything you need to know about the new features.

Instagram Allows Users To Reshare Any Public Story

The platform already enabled sharing regular posts to Stories back in 2018, following the initial launch of Stories in 2016. However, the Story resharing feature remained limited until now.

The “Add to your story” feature previously worked only when a creator specifically tagged another user with their @ handle. Without a tag, the only way to share someone’s Story was by taking a screenshot or recording your screen, which not only reduced image quality but also removed proper credit to the original creator.

The latest update eliminates these limitations, making Instagram’s sharing tools more aligned with familiar features like “Retweet” on X (formerly Twitter) or the “Share” function on TikTok.

How the New Story Reshare Works?

Instagram’s upgraded sharing system is built to improve how public content spreads across the platform.

The feature applies only to public accounts. Stories from private profiles will remain non-shareable, preserving their existing privacy rules. When users view a public Story, they will now see an “Add to Story” option, letting them instantly repost it. This sits alongside the usual options to share via DMs or external apps.

Meanwhile, any reshared Story will show the original creator’s username and link back to their profile, ensuring proper credit.

Privacy Options and Restrictions

Instagram has also included privacy protections for creators who prefer not to have their content circulated widely. Public account owners can head to the privacy settings and toggle the “Allow Sharing to Story” option. Turning it off removes the ability for others to share their public Stories, even if the content is visible.

The feature is currently rolling out globally for both iOS and Android users.

Starlink’s much-anticipated entry into India sparked fresh buzz this week after its local website briefly displayed what looked like official broadband plans. Screenshots of the pricing spread rapidly across social media, but the excitement was short-lived. The company has now confirmed that the prices were not real and were unintentionally pushed live due to a technical error.

Starlink Clarifies India Website Glitch

Lauren Dreyer, VP of Starlink Business Operations, addressed the situation on X, explaining that the leaked figures were simply placeholder data. She stated that the Starlink India website is not live” and added that the information seen online does not reflect what the cost of Starlink service will be in India.”

Dreyer reiterated that Starlink has not launched in India and is not accepting orders, contrary to early reports from several platforms.

The glitch displayed a residential plan priced at Rs 8,600 per month along with a Rs 34,000 hardware kit including the dish, Wi-Fi router, mounting equipment and cables. The page also mentioned unlimited data, 99.9% uptime, reliable operation during harsh weather and even hinted at location-based pricing and a possible business plan. Although those details were incomplete.

Despite the quick fix, the brief listing triggered widespread debates on affordability and rollout timelines.

When Will Starlink Launch in India?

Following Dreyer’s clarification, attention shifted back to the central question about Starlink’s official launch date. India remains in the “pending regulatory approval” stage on the company’s availability map, and while preparations have been underway for months, the service cannot go live without the government’s final clearance. However, industry chatter suggests progress is being made and Starlink appears confident about launching soon.

“We’re eager to connect the people of India with Starlink’s high-speed internet, and our teams are focused on obtaining final government approvals to turn service (and the website) on,” Dreyer said.

Starlink India Launch Plans

Reports indicate Starlink is laying the groundwork across several Indian cities. The company is said to be planning gateway earth stations essential for linking satellites to users in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Noida. This will help provide stable, low-latency connectivity once services begin.

Hiring activity has also increased. Starlink recently posted multiple job openings at its Bengaluru office, particularly in finance and treasury roles, signalling that backend operations are being prepared for the commercial rollout. Positions include Payments Manager, Senior Treasury Analyst, and Tax Manager.

Even before its launch, Starlink is attracting interest from state governments. Maharashtra has officially taken the lead by signing a Letter of Intent with Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited. The partnership aims to bring satellite broadband to remote regions such as Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Dharashiv, and Washim. The agreement was announced in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and IT Minister Ashish Shelar. Fadnavis welcomed the Starlink team in Mumbai, calling it an “honour” for the state to collaborate with the company.

Currently, the company is reportedly waiting Government of India’s final approval. Once cleared, Starlink will compete with Jio-SES and Eutelsat OneWeb, while also expanding India’s satellite internet ecosystem.

FAQs

Q1. Were the Starlink India broadband prices that went viral real?

Answer. No. Starlink confirmed the figures were placeholder data accidentally published due to a technical glitch.

Q2. Has Starlink officially launched in India yet?

Answer. Not yet. The service is still awaiting final government approval and is not accepting orders.

Q3. What preparations is Starlink making for its India rollout?

Answer. The company is building gateway earth stations in cities like Mumbai and Hyderabad, hiring staff in Bengaluru, and partnering with Maharashtra to expand satellite broadband to remote regions.
