The introduction of the Vivo V30 is a testament to this legacy, with Vivo ensuring the incorporation of numerous camera-centric features designed to elevate the user’s photography experience.
I tested out the phone’s camera in various conditions and here are my findings.
Vivo V30 Camera Features
Vivo V30 Camera Features
First things first, what kind of optical hardware does the Vivo V30 possess?
The device features a 50 MP AF Ultra Wide-Angle Camera offering a 119-degree perspective, combined with advanced AI Group Portrait technology and Aura Light for smart color temperature adjustment.
The main camera, also a 50MP sensor, incorporates Vivo Camera-Bionic Spectrum (VCS) technology for true colour reproduction and optical image stabilization (OIS) to ensure clarity under any conditions.
Additionally, the V30 boasts studio-quality Aura Light Portraits, addressing challenges in low-light conditions and complex lighting scenarios, and supports capturing group portraits through its 50MP selfie camera for enhanced clarity for up to 30 people, including an Eye AF Group Selfie feature to ensure sharp, detailed images across all subjects.
The colors it produces lean towards the more saturated side, giving the photos a vibrant and lively appearance.
Its shutter speeds are commendably quick, and the autofocus operates flawlessly, ensuring that every shot is sharp and clear.
There’s also a Pro mode in the camera app that allows you to properly fine-tune settings like ISO, Shutter Speeds, Exposure metering and more.
I was particularly impressed with how well it managed to capture portraits and intricate details, enhancing the overall quality of the photographs and providing a depth that truly brings images to life.
Vivo V30 Camera Overview: Ultra-wide Photography
Vivo V30 Camera Overview: Ultra-wide Photography
The Vivo V30’s 50MP ultra-wide sensor is truly remarkable for landscape photography, enabling full-resolution shots and typically defaulting to pixel-binned 12.5MP images similar to the primary shooter.
It excels in maintaining color temperature across various lighting conditions, ensuring consistent quality.
Notably, there’s no warping at the edges, which is often a challenge with ultra-wide lenses.
The focus distribution is even, complementing the fast shutter speeds and expansive field of view that captures more of the landscape.
The tap-to-focus feature is reliable, though there are instances of missing sharpness in objects alongside some oversharpening.
Vivo V30 Camera Overview: Selfies
Vivo V30’s 50MP selfie camera
Using the Vivo V30’s 50MP selfie camera has been a revelation in capturing selfies.
The camera comes loaded with features specifically tailored for selfie enthusiasts, including group selfies and eye-tracking to ensure facial features are captured in sharp contrast.
I’ve noticed the exposure behind my face is consistently even, with my facial features appearing slightly sharpened upon closer inspection.
The skin tones are accurately matched, making the facial portrait shots quite decent, especially in good lighting.
Additionally, the Aura flash feature for low light conditions significantly enhances the quality, ensuring selfies are well-lit even in less-than-ideal lighting situations.
Vivo V30 Camera Overview: Low-Light Photography
Vivo V30 Camera Overview: Low-Light Photography
As far as the Vivo V30’s low-light photography goes, while it showcases commendable capabilities, it doesn’t quite match up to its daylight performance.
There’s noticeable oversharpening, likely to counteract noise reduction, which can detract from the natural look of images.
Focusing in low light takes a tad longer, although the dedicated night mode is impressive, sometimes it tends to overexpose shots.
Shadows and HDR are decent, but lens flare can be an issue with bright lights.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Vivo V30 still impresses as a low-light photography tool.
From my initial time with the device, the camera has proven to be exceptional in daylight conditions, producing images with excellent clarity and detail.
The ultra-wide camera, in particular, stands out for its ability to capture wide vistas without sacrificing image quality.
Although I haven’t fully tested the device in low-light environments, the preliminary results are promising.
The various scene modes, including High resolution, Night, Portrait, and Dual View, among others, all indicate a versatile camera system ready to tackle any photographic challenge.
Read ahead for my full review which will go into greater detail of the phone’s photographic capabilities.
What was my experience of the camera capabilities of Vivo V30 after reviewing the phone ?
It forgoes a dedicated telephoto lens, instead offering dual 50MP sensors for both primary and ultra-wide-angle photography.
The main camera, equipped with “True Color” Camera-Bionic-Spectrum VCS technology, impresses with its vivid and colorful output, although the colors sometimes border on being overly saturated.
The addition of the Aura Light is a game-changer for portrait photography, providing a soft, evenly distributed light reminiscent of a mini Ring Light favored by live streamers and influencers.
Selfies taken with the 50MP front-facing camera are pleasing, supported by various selfie-centric modes and the high resolution allows for significant cropping without loss of detail.
Skin tones are accurately rendered, making it a solid choice for selfie enthusiasts.
The tap-to-focus feature is responsive, and the portraits produced are particularly striking.
The camera interface is user-friendly, albeit with many advanced features tucked away in the settings, which may not be frequently used by the average user.
The ultra-wide shots, while vibrant, tend to soften towards the edges, with a noticeable shift in color temperature under certain lighting conditions when compared to the primary camera.
Nevertheless, the overall vibrancy of the images remains appealing.
In low light, the performance is decent, though not the best in its class.
The Aura Light can brighten scenes effectively, but it sometimes detracts from the natural ambiance of the photo.
While focusing can be hit or miss in darker settings, the dedicated Night mode and the pronounced shadows it captures have their charm, offering room for improvement in low light capabilities.
In summary, the Vivo V30’s camera system, with its vibrant colour output and innovative Aura Light, makes it a strong contender for those prioritising photography in their smartphone choice.
It impresses with its 50MP ultra-wide and main sensors, offering rich details, vibrant colours, and consistent quality across various lighting conditions.
While its low-light capabilities and selfie camera features like eye-tracking and Aura flash enhance night portraits and group selfies, there’s slight room for improvement in sharpness and noise reduction.
Overall, the Vivo V30 is a robust photography tool, ideal for capturing moments with precision and clarity, showcasing Vivo’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of mobile photography.
What makes the Vivo V30 camera stand out in the smartphone market?
The Vivo V30 camera stands out with its 50MP Ultra Wide-Angle and main sensors, Vivo Camera-Bionic Spectrum technology for true color reproduction, Aura Light for smart color temperature adjustment, and advanced AI Group Portrait technology.
Can the Vivo V30 handle low-light photography well?
Yes, the Vivo V30 is designed to enhance night-time photography with its large sensor, optical image stabilisation (OIS), and studio-quality Aura Light Portraits, though there’s room for improvement in reducing noise and sharpening.
Does the Vivo V30 support professional photography controls?
Indeed, the Vivo V30 includes a Pro mode that allows users to adjust ISO, shutter speeds, exposure metering, and more, offering greater control over the photography experience.
How does the Vivo V30 enhance selfie and group portrait experiences?
The Vivo V30 enhances selfies and group portraits with a 50MP selfie camera featuring Eye AF Group Selfie and Aura flash for low light conditions, ensuring even exposure and sharp, detailed images.
Are there any special features in the Vivo V30 camera for landscape photography?
The Vivo V30 excels in landscape photography with its 50MP ultra-wide sensor, providing full-resolution shots, consistent color temperature across various lighting conditions, and an expansive field of view without edge warping.

Even so, the device doesn’t skimp on visual credentials, supporting Dolby Vision and HDR10+ for an enriched viewing experience.
I’m particularly impressed with the deep blacks and accurate color reproduction; the lack of any noticeable shift when viewed at angles is commendable.
Vivo V30 Dual 50MP cameras featuring innovative Aura Light for superior portraits

Vivo V30: Performance and Storage
In my experience with the Vivo V30, its performance has been nothing short of impressive.
At the heart of this device lies the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, equipping it with the prowess needed for any task I’ve thrown its way.
From multitasking with multiple apps open simultaneously to engaging in graphically demanding games, the Vivo V30 has managed it all smoothly, without any hint of stutter or lag.
The large vapor cooling chamber inside is a standout feature, ensuring the device stays cool to the touch even during extended gaming sessions, a testament to its well-thought-out design for heat management.
Benchmark tests confirm the Vivo V30’s capabilities, aligning with my personal experience of a seamless operation, whether for everyday tasks or high-end mobile gaming.
The device’s in-display fingerprint sensor deserves a mention for its reliability and speed, enhancing the overall user experience with its seamless functionality.
The dual-speaker setup, supporting Dolby Atmos, enriches the audio experience, though as I said before, I found myself wishing for a tad more volume.
Connectivity is another area where the Vivo V30 excels, with both SIM slots supporting 5G, ensuring fast and reliable connections without any issues.
This custom skin is quite dense, offering a multitude of customization options for both the home and lock screens, an array of widgets, and a notable amount of pre-installed applications, a common problem with most Chinese OEMs.
There is the presence of some unwanted game shortcuts cluttering the app drawer detracting from the otherwise smooth user interface.
Despite this, the abundance of third-party apps could be easily removed with a few taps, though Vivo’s own suite of apps often duplicated functionalities already provided by Google’s default apps.
While the interface is highly intuitive and customisable, one aspect that leaves room for improvement is Vivo’s commitment to software support.
The brand comes with a software promise of 3 generations of Android updates & 4 years of security updates.
This is a point of concern, as it potentially limits the device’s longevity compared to competitors like the OnePlus 12R, which benefits from a much more extended OS update cycle.
The Vivo V30 Pro boasts an impressive battery life, a standout feature that sets it apart.
With a generous 5000mAh battery nestled within its sleek frame, the phone effortlessly powers through a full day’s journey on a single charge.
The inclusion of 80W fast charging technology is akin to having a quick pit stop that ensures you’re back on the road in no time—merely 40 minutes to go from empty to full.
During my time with the Vivo V30 Pro, I consistently enjoyed about 6-7 hours of screen-on time.
This is remarkable, especially considering the device’s rapid recharging ability which juices up the phone in a jiffy.
Vivo V30: Final Verdict
Vivo V30: Verdict
The Vivo V30 is a pretty decent phone for its price.
It has a top-tier camera setup and despite some limitations in low light and ultra-wide shots, it excels with vibrant colour output and innovative features like the Aura Light for portraits.
The Vivo V30 features a slim profile and lightweight feel, complemented by intricate patterns on its back and curved glass edges, offering a sophisticated and premium look.
How does the Vivo V30 perform in photography?
With dual 50MP cameras and the unique Aura Light, the Vivo V30 excels in capturing vibrant and detailed photos, though it tends to oversaturate colors. The device performs well in various lighting conditions, including low light.
Can the Vivo V30 handle heavy gaming and multitasking?
Yes, the Vivo V30, powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor and equipped with up to 12GB RAM, offers smooth gaming and efficient multitasking capabilities.
What are the Vivo V30’s battery specs and charging capabilities?
The Vivo V30 comes with a 5000mAh battery supported by 80W fast charging, enabling quick recharges and extended usage times.
Are there any concerns with the Vivo V30’s software support?
While the Vivo V30 runs FunTouch OS based on Android 14, there is some uncertainty regarding the duration of future software updates, which might affect its longevity compared to competitors.

Rumoured 200MP camera could offer unmatched image clarity.
Expected to feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for superior performance.
A more user-friendly aspect ratio for both external and internal displays.
Potential design refinements include a slimmer, lighter build with premium materials.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is not too far away and there is speculation that the device will be announced in July alongside the new Z Flip 6.
Rumours surrounding the device have painted a rather clear picture of a device that could redefine the foldable smartphone experience.
Let’s dive deeper into the expected innovations and enhancements that might set the Galaxy Z Fold 6 apart.
Camera: A Potential Photographic Powerhouse
Camera: A Potential Photographic Powerhouse
One of the most exciting rumours about the Galaxy Z Fold 6 revolves around its camera capabilities.
Leaks suggest Samsung might be aiming for a significant upgrade in this department.
Twitter leaker Revegnus stirred the pot by suggesting that while Samsung may retain the image sensor from the Galaxy Z Fold 5, there’s also talk of equipping the Fold 6 with the same 200MP primary camera sensor found in the S24 Ultra.
This would represent a massive leap forward in photographic capabilities, allowing for unparalleled detail and clarity in images.
However, reports from GalaxyClub and insights from leaker Yogesh Brar hint at a more conservative upgrade, suggesting a 50MP primary camera, which aligns with the Galaxy S24’s specifications.
On the performance front, leaker Chun VN mentions that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be powered by the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, continuing Samsung’s tradition of integrating the latest and most powerful chipsets.
This upgrade would likely ensure smoother operation, better efficiency, and enhanced gaming experiences.
When it comes to battery life, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is rumoured to feature a slightly larger 4,600mAh battery compared to its predecessor’s 4,400mAh unit.
Additionally, reports from yeux1122 on Naver suggest a 5% increase in battery size, improved under-display camera technology with better aperture, and a visually more appealing design.
The possibility of up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage was also floated, though these specs require further confirmation.
Aspect Ratio Adjustments
Aspect Ratio Adjustments
Revegnus and analyst Ross Young have suggested some changes coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s external display aspect ratio.
It’s likely that both the foldable and cover displays will be larger, with the cover display potentially measuring 6.4 inches diagonally, up from the 6.2-inch display on the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
This modification would transition the cover screen to a 20:9 aspect ratio, offering a wider and more user-friendly interface compared to the previous 23.1:9 ratio.
Internal Display Changes
Internal Display Changes
The adjustment in the external display’s aspect ratio is more-or-less going to influence the internal screen’s dimensions, leading to a more squarish 1.08:1 aspect ratio.
This shift from the 5:6 aspect ratio found in the Fold 5 aims to enhance the viewing and usability experience when the device is unfolded.
A Slimmer and Lighter Build
A Slimmer and Lighter Build
Speculation from leaker Chun VN points to a design that is not only wider but also thinner and lighter, potentially measuring 11mm when folded.
The anticipated use of titanium in the build could contribute to a more premium feel and durability, alongside a thinner and more resilient hinge mechanism.
Price Expectations: What We Might See
Price Expectations: What We Might See
Given the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s pricing structure, which ranged from $1,799.99 for the 12GB/256GB model to $2,159.99 for the 12GB/1TB variant, it’s reasonable to speculate that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could follow a similar or slightly higher pricing strategy.
This assumption is based on the potential inclusion of advanced features like the 200MP camera sensor, increased battery capacity, and the latest Snapdragon processor.
However, without concrete price leaks for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or its variants, these figures remain speculative.
