Disney CEO Bob Iger said the new tech will enhance the Disney+ viewing experience, noting that when the headset launches early next year, users will be able to access the streaming service.

“We’re constantly in search of new ways to entertain, inform and inspire our fans by combining extraordinary creativity with groundbreaking technology to create truly remarkable experiences,” Iger said during Apple’s WWDC 2023 keynote on Monday. “And we believe Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary platform that can make our vision a reality.”

WWDC2023The demo reel for the collaboration between Disney and Apple included 3D visuals of a basketball court, showing how users could be immersed in sports contests from home, as well as immersive National Geographic content that placed the viewer in the middle of the ocean.

“It will allow us to create deeply personal experiences that bring our fans closer to the characters they love,” Iger said. “This platform will allow us to bring Disney to our fans in ways that were previously impossible.”

The sizzle reel also showcased Mickey Mouse springing to life in a living room, a fireworks show from Disney’s theme parks erupting in a kitchen and fans watching Star Wars content from a planet’s surface.

Apple Vision Pro Will Come with Disney+ Streaming Service

Apple announced that the Vision Pro would give its users a stellar cinematic streaming experience for Apple TV content. Users can also play their favourite Apple Arcade games on as big a screen as they want with their favourite controller.

However, the Disney partnership takes the cake as the Walt Disney Company is the world leader in the entertainment industry. Bob Iger took the stage to announce the collaboration and demonstrate how Vision Pro will change the streaming experience from sports to movies.

Disney+ streaming service owns content across various platforms – Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. Iger revealed that Vision Pro users can enjoy immersive content on these platforms with AR-based environments matching the movie being watched and more.
Iger announced that the Walt Disney Company would be developing immersive entertainment experiences for Vision Pro, including new ways of watching sports.

During Iger’s announcement, there was a sneak peek of the sports viewing experience on ESPN. The preview showed that the new Apple Vision Pro headset would show five different game streams at the same time.

Users can use spatial computing gestures to toggle between them quickly. In case users focus on just one match, they can check multiple angles of the same game, including court-side views, detailed player stats, and other information about their favourite teams and league. Apple Vision Pro will also offer in-depth replays of favourite moments from a game.

At this point, it’s yet to be known how much of this experience will be available on the launch day of Vision Pro next year. However, the future of streaming looks promising for Apple Vision Pro buyers.
