Design and Built

As the first Review impression goes, the Oppo Find N2 is much lighter in case you wish to compare it to its predecessor Oppo Find N.

The Find N2 is thinner thanks to a newly streamlined hinge and in order to keep things aligned with modern smartphone trends, this foldable device is sharper with right angles and subtle design changes freshening up the edges.

Both sides are done up in Gorilla Glass Victus on the white and green colour models, while the black handset comes with a synthetic leather back.

The squad-wide body build makes the Oppo Find N2 perfect for one-hand operation. It is better for typing and running apps that don’t do well in alternative aspect ratios. The cover screen dominates the whole cover of the phone, which we are sure will satisfy all the streamers and scrollers. The device comes with a factory-installed screen protector to keep it from scratching when you form-flex it.

Open it up and things naturally get more interesting. Find N2 has a different design from the previous Oppo foldable smartphone reducing its radius and covering the whole display with a less reflective film. Oppo’s open-screen crease cloaking is also impressive and vastly improved compared to other competing smartphones.

Display

Oppo described these foldable screens on Oppo Find N2 as the golden ratio with a 17.7 by 9 aspect on the cover screen. This simply means it’s a good deal shorter and wider than the Samsung Fold 4.

So, here with Find N2, even basic things such as typing feel a lot more spacious and comfortable. On the inside, we have the 7.1-inch tablet screen which is not far off a square with its 9 by 8.4 size.

Both the cover and the tablet screens are 120 hertz but the main screen also now uses the more advanced LTPO Tech, which promises a better 120-hertz dynamic refresh. Oppo has also boosted the peak brightness up to 1550 nits. Taking advantage of the biggest screen we have oppos Flex form and in a handful of apps. Although mostly Oppo’s own stuff but you also have YouTube.

It utilises the extra space quite nicely, however, it doesn’t feel as fully formed as flex mode on Samsung’s foldable smartphone but it’s surely a good start. The phone is particularly handy for the camera as it uses its foldable design as a makeshift stand.

Performance

Probably the biggest upgrade on the Oppo Find N2 compared to the Find N is actually on the software. The relatively ancient Snapdragon 888 of the Find N has been upgraded to the Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4 nm). Now, the recently released Gen 2 would have been absolutely marvellous but this is still a huge upgrade.

Although, there hasn’t been a significant difference for the processor in Geekbench, in 3D Mark that tests the graphics were impressive. We’re looking at around an 80 boost. There are also two variants, one with 12 GB of RAM and 256 storage and another one is with 16 GB RAM and 512 internal storage.

Moreover, we have the latest Android 13 and ColorOS 13 software. Also, Oppo offers a solid three years of Android updates.

Oppo Find N2 Camera Review

Oppo Find N2 Review gets a five-lens camera setup with three on the back, one on the main tablet screen and one on the cover screen. The upgrade, however, is the 50-megapixel main camera that now uses the latest IMX 890 sensor, the ultra-wide anatella photo with sensors and higher resolutions. Oppo has also teamed up with Hasselblad for some Pro features including a bespoke pro mode that uses their colour science as well as a nostalgic and super tall x-pan photo mode.

Oppo has again decided on silicon Xmpu, which seems to be dropping in all Oppo smartphones recently launched. It’s basically an extra little AI chip which helps improve low light and HDR video details, the dynamic range and also the relatively low noise. Overall, this camera setup is definitely a big upgrade in the camera department for the upcoming Oppo foldable smartphone lineup.

Pathaan

Its OTT rights have been apparently bagged by Amazon Prime Video for Rs.100 crore, which is a little low for a Shah Rukh Khan film, who is making a comeback after a 5-year exile, with his last release being the critically and commercially panned Zero (2018).

The movie has been shot on multiple locations like India, Afghanistan, Spain, Italy, France, Russia, UAE, and Turkey, which can be expected of a spy thriller movie where the protagonist is a RAW agent.

The movie also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham playing key roles, alongside veterans like Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana lending able support to the project, as revealed in the trailer that showed Kapadia playing a RAW chief discussing Outfit X, a terror organization headed by John Abraham.

The trailer revealed Abraham’s character planning a terrorist attack in India, while Kapadia wants to get Shah Rukh Khan’s character Pathaan back from his exile, while Deepika’s character too is shown as another officer fighting Outfit X.

The movie is being helmed by Siddharth Anand as the director and stars Shah Rukh Khan in the main lead role of Pathaan, a RAW field agent, supported by Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, Adam Driver, and Ashutosh Rana, while Salman Khan is strongly speculated to make a cameo.

Aditya Chopra is producing the film under his family banner of Yash Raj Films, while Vishal-Shekhar have given the music for the venture, which has received mixed reviews from the general public, with one of its songs getting embroiled in a major controversy.

Will the Social Audio App Clubhouse Die?

0
Social Audio App

The Social Media ecosystem was anticipating a big shake-up in 2021 after a relatively new concept of virtual social interaction was introduced a year before. We are referring to the Clubhouse app – a social audio app that almost started the trend of audio-only mass interactions online. Every social media enthusiast would have heard of the social audio app the Clubhouse during that time as the buzz around it only because of its initial invite-only policy.

However, as we stand in 2023, how has the new concept of Social Audio in 2023 actually faired? And the question remains is – Will the Social Audio App Clubhouse Die? But before we get to that, let’s start by understanding more about Clubhouse, especially for those who may not know much about it.

Social Audio App

What is Social Audio App Clubhouse?

Clubhouse started off as the hottest new social media app, launched in 2020, with a completely new idea of connecting in the virtual world. If you are wondering what is it exactly, how you use it and whether you should sign up or not, here is everything you need to know about the app.

The key that separates Clubhouse from the tons of other social media apps competing for your attention is that Clubhouse is an audio-only platform. It would fall somewhere between podcasts and convention panels that can happen anywhere or anytime and users could participate in them.

The app started off as an invite-only social media app although currently, users only need an active phone number to be able to join. After the launch, the app quickly climbed up the later and initially got a lot of attention for housing really high-profile names on the service. From Elon Musk and Chris Rock to Oprah Winfrey and Mark Cuban, basically, the who’s who from tech to television and everything in between was present on the app.

Social Audio App

Will the Social Audio App Clubhouse Die?

There was a record 9.6 million app downloads in February, the number however saw a major drop to 2.7 million in March and 900,000 in April consecutively. Moreover, a reduction of close to 70 per cent was also recorded in the number of average monthly users. So, the question stands, why there is a decline and will the Social Audio App Clubhouse die?

According to a survey conducted by Business Insider, around 88% of the 5,000 Clubhouse users in the survey said they don’t use the app anymore because it was only “a fad.” This could be a valid criticism because the social audio feature was introduced to the user base more like a fashion than something you can get addicted to, which is actually the driving force behind most social media platforms.

Many industry experts have also suggested that it was the pandemic fatigue that drove people towards the audio-only feature because everyone was locked inside their house and craved genuine human interaction. The concept of hearing real people speak to each other in a social media setting actually made sense during the pandemic.

Other reasons that could have played a role in the downfall of the app are the initial iOS-only app version and the invite-only policy. Although Clubhouse now has an Andriod version and no more invites are needed to join, the initial gatekeeping somehow discouraged a large social media user base that may have joined the platform during its rise.

Whether Social Audio App Clubhouse will die or not is something only time will tell, but for the now the decline definitely doesn’t give any positive signs for the future of the app.

Introduction to VR, AR, MR and XR (Extended Reality)

Introduction to VR AR MR and XR

Extended reality is an umbrella term for technologies rising to revolutionise the course of the present and future in unimaginable ways. Facilitating an immersive world, extended reality refers to the spectrum of the virtual continuum. This means extended reality is where all the real and virtual combined environments are included. These environments include augmented reality, augmented virtuality, cross reality, and mixed reality. Virtual reality is also included in XR at the very end of the spectrum. Reality itself, however, is not included in extended reality which of course is at the opposite end. In this article, we are getting into the details of all other branches of technologies that actually create extended reality.

In simple terms, we have virtual reality (VR) that basically involves putting on a headset to enter a fully immersive 3D digital environment. Second, we have augmented reality (AR) which involves using a phone or glasses to overlay computer images on top of the real world. Lastly, we have mixed reality (MR), which is somewhat a combination of both VR and AR. Now, let’s try to understand each in detail and also understand the difference between MR and XR and AR.

Introduction to VR AR MR and XR

VR – Virtual Reality

VR has been growing in popularity for the past few years. It is basically a technology that immerses you in a 3D environment that seems real taking away the limitations of the real world to allow you to go wherever you want and see what you’re interested in. It’s a simulated experience used in various industries such as gaming, educational, entertainment, and corporate office environments to allow people experiences that otherwise may be impossible in real life situations.

Once inside the virtual environment, you can explore and interact with everything inside. Technology tricks our brains into believing that what we see and hear while wearing the VR headset is real. It places you inside a 3D-simulated environment shown in 360 degrees adding to the sense of realism. You can look around and see the simulated environment all around you. If the VR user takes a step, the scenery moves as if they are walking through a real environment. Moreover, sounds are also part of the experience.

Introduction to VR AR MR and XR

AR – Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality is actually overlaying digital elements onto the real world that we are seeing. While in virtual reality where users have glasses on and it completely blends out the environment to immerse the users in the digital world, here in augmented reality is basically where users can still see the real world but there are these augmented digital elements visible on top. The digital elements are annotations on texts or images over texts.

Users don’t necessarily need to use glasses for AR. A great example of augmented reality is Google Glass. It is where we look at things or people to get annotation or more information about it. With AR, users can now use simple tools like their smartphone cameras to scan a place to know more about.

Also Read: TSSC 2022: These emerging technologies have future shifting powers

Another great example of AR is the popular game Pokemon Go, which is probably the first widely used augmented reality game. It is where participants scan the world with their smartphone and the digital Pokemons pop up as they move.

Introduction to VR AR MR and XR

MR – Mixed Reality

Mixed reality is one of the most recent innovations around the concept of extended reality. This is basically a step further as it takes augmented reality to another level where users would be able to manipulate the digital images that are overlaid in the real world. A great example of this is the Microsoft HoloLens or the Lenovo Explorer. This is where the user is wearing a headset that allows you to see the real world where you can place digital objects. The mixed reality headsets are different from the headset used in virtual reality, which completely blanks out the world. So, by putting on a mixed reality HoloLens, you can use and place holographs into the real world such as your room.

In simpler terms, mixed reality technology is how you interact with these virtual reality digital objects superimposed in the real world.

The primary difference between AR and MR is that MR allows you to manipulate elements of the digital world by mixing them into the real world, which is not possible with AR. This is why MR is slated as the most innovative of the leading edge of these extended reality technologies.
