iPhone 18 Pro Leak Points to Major Main Camera Upgrade, Reliability of Viral iPhone 18 Design Images Questioned

0

Highlights

  • iPhone 18 Pro is tipped to feature one of the biggest camera upgrades ever with a larger main module requiring a thicker rear panel.
  • Leaks suggest a variable aperture system may be included though detailed specs remain unclear.
  • Viral iPhone 18 design images circulating online are likely edited renders and not authentic prototypes, raising doubts about their reliability.

iPhone 18 Pro could bring one of the biggest camera upgrades seen on an iPhone in recent years, according to a series of new leaks. Rumours about the device have been circulating for months but the latest information now suggests that the primary camera may be the improvement to look forward to in the upcoming iPhone Pro models. At the same time, a wave of alleged iPhone 18 design leaks has appeared on social media but reports indicate that many of these images may not be authentic. Here are more details.

iPhone 18 Pro Main Camera Could Receive Significant Upgrade

In recent years, Apple has increasingly differentiated its Pro-series iPhones by offering more advanced camera systems. That trend is expected to continue with the iPhone 18 Pro.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently stated that the iPhone 18 Pro lineup could feature “some of the biggest camera hardware upgrades in the lineup’s history.” However, there have been few details explaining what might justify such a major claim until now.

A new post from Weibo tipster Fixed Focus Digital may provide some answers. According to the tipster, the main camera upgrade planned for the iPhone 18 Pro has already been “confirmed.” The leak claims that the enhancement requires more than a 2mm increase in the thickness of the aluminium alloy rear panel area surrounding the camera system.

This suggests that the camera bump on the iPhone 18 Pro could become even larger than previously rumoured.

Larger Camera Module Reportedly Behind the Change

In response to a user comment, the same tipster stated that the increase in thickness is linked to an enlarged main camera module. While specific technical details have not yet surfaced, the report suggests that Apple may be introducing substantially larger internal camera components compared to those used in the iPhone 17 Pro.

Apart from a variable aperture system that has already been rumoured by multiple sources, no additional camera specifications have been revealed. However, the latest leak, combined with Gurman’s earlier comments points toward major improvements in image quality and camera performance.

Viral iPhone 18 Design Leaks May Not Be Real

Meanwhile, social media platforms have been flooded with images claiming to show Apple’s future iPhone 18 design. Many of these renders suggest that the standard iPhone 18 could adopt the camera layout of the iPhone 17 Pro while omitting the third telephoto camera.

Several well-known leaker accounts including MajinBu on X, have shared images allegedly showing a real iPhone 18 prototype already being tested. However, reports indicate that these images should be treated with caution.

With modern AI image-generation tools becoming increasingly sophisticated, distinguishing genuine leaks from edited images has become more difficult. However, scepticism has emerged regarding the authenticity of photos allegedly depicting a device that is still around nine months away from launch.

The origin of some of the viral images reportedly show that at least one silver “iPhone 18” image originated from the AppleLeaker account. The account itself reportedly clarified that the image was not an actual leak but rather an edited render created using the Object Eraser feature in macOS 27.

The image appears to be based on an iPhone 17 Pro with the third camera removed to visualise what a future iPhone 18 could look like if Apple reused the Pro model’s design. While such concept images are not unusual, problems arise when edited visuals are later presented as genuine leaks.

Reports suggest that many of the currently circulating iPhone 18 images fall into this category with no credible evidence currently supporting them as authentic prototypes.

Could the Standard iPhone 18 Borrow the Pro Design?

Although the current design leaks are reportedly not based on real hardware, the underlying idea is not entirely impossible. Apple has previously introduced features on Pro models before bringing them to standard iPhones a year later.

Examples include the Dynamic Island and the Action Button, both of which eventually expanded beyond the Pro lineup. As a result, some observers believe Apple could adopt elements of the iPhone 17 Pro camera design for the standard iPhone 18 in 2026.

Unconfirmed design details and specs of iPhone 18. (Source – Unconfirmed)

However, simply carrying over a large Pro-style camera bar while removing the telephoto lens could create unnecessary space on the rear panel. Because of this, some reports suggest Apple may instead draw inspiration from the iPhone Air design language for the future iPhone 18.

The iPhone Air’s camera layout is expected to accommodate a dual-camera setup and may also influence the design of a future iPhone Ultra model.

As of now, there are no reliable leaks confirming the final design of the iPhone 18 and much of the speculation remains based on edited renders rather than actual hardware.

Alongside the smartphone, Honor unveiled the Earbuds 5e in China. The earbuds feature a semi-in-ear design with stems and weigh around 4 grams each. They carry an IP54 rating for resistance against dust and water splashes.

The Earbuds 5e are equipped with 12mm dynamic drivers featuring diamond-like carbon diaphragms. The earbuds support the LHDC 5.0 codec and are Hi-Res Audio certified enabling 24-bit audio transmission.

For noise reduction, the earbuds feature adaptive active noise cancellation that automatically adjusts according to surrounding conditions. Honor claims the system can reduce noise by up to 52dB at its peak and delivers an average reduction of 28dB across various frequencies.

Each earbud includes three microphones that use AI-based algorithms to suppress background noise during calls. The system also supports wind noise reduction at speeds of up to 6m/s.

Honor claims the Earbuds 5e can deliver up to nine hours of playback on a single charge with active noise cancellation turned off. Combined with the 550mAh USB Type-C charging case, total battery life can reach up to 45 hours. When ANC is enabled, battery life drops to 5.5 hours on the earbuds and up to 28 hours with the charging case. Fast charging support is also included, with a 10-minute charge providing approximately three hours of listening time.

The earbuds come with several software-driven features although some advanced functions require a compatible Honor smartphone. These include AI-powered translation supporting 15 languages and a meeting assistant capable of transcribing and translating recordings.

OnePlus 16T Leak Suggests Compact Flagship With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Is in Development

0

Highlights

  • A new leak suggests OnePlus is developing OnePlus 16T aimed at the Chinese market.
  • The device is tipped to feature a 6.3-inch flat high-refresh display and Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (2nm) chipset.
  • OnePlus 16T could launch in Q1 2027 with a possible global variant (16s) later, though details remain unconfirmed.

Currently, the future of compact OnePlus smartphones outside China appears to be uncertain. Multiple reports have indicated that OnePlus may have dropped plans to launch the OnePlus 15s expected to arrive in India. But a new leak suggests that the company has not given up on the form factor altogether. Instead, it may already be working on the next-generation model, OnePlus 16T, for the Chinese market.

According to information shared by tipster Digital Chat Station, OnePlus is currently developing a new compact smartphone focused on delivering flagship-level performance. Although the tipster did not specifically reveal the device’s name, speculation points to it being the upcoming OnePlus 16T.

The handset is reportedly being tested with Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. The processor is expected to be built on an advanced 2nm manufacturing process, which could bring improvements in both performance and power efficiency.

The leak further claims that the device may feature a compact 6.3-inch flat display. While exact display specifications remain under wraps, the panel is said to support a very high refresh rate and will be suitable for smooth gaming, scrolling and everyday use.

At the moment, most of the hardware details are reportedly still being finalised.

Possible Launch Timeline

Based on the current timeline, the OnePlus 16T could potentially launch during the first quarter of 2027.

This prediction is largely based on the launch schedule of the OnePlus 15T, which was introduced in China in March this year. If OnePlus follows a similar release cycle, the rumoured OnePlus 16T could arrive around the same period next year.

While there is no confirmation regarding global availability, it remains possible that OnePlus could eventually introduce a OnePlus 16s in international markets.

More details about the device are expected to surface in the coming months as OnePlus continues its work on the project.

OPPO has revised the pricing of several smartphones in its portfolio and increased prices by up to Rs 3,000 across multiple models. The latest price adjustment affects devices in the OPPO A6, A6 Pro, and F33 series, making them more expensive for buyers planning to purchase these smartphones.

The revised prices are now applicable across the affected variants with some models seeing a price hike of Rs 2,000 while others have become costlier by Rs 3,000.

OPPO A6 Series Receives Price Hike

The OPPO A6 is powered by the MediaTek 6300 chipset and has received a Rs 2,000 price increase across all storage variants.

The 4GB RAM + 128GB storage model, which was previously available for Rs 21,999, is now priced at Rs 23,999. The 6GB RAM + 128GB variant has gone up from Rs 23,999 to Rs 25,999, while the top-end 6GB RAM + 256GB model now costs Rs 27,999, compared to its earlier price of Rs 25,999.

OPPO A6 Pro Also Becomes Costlier

The OPPO A6 Pro is also powered by the MediaTek 6300 processor and has similarly received a Rs 2,000 price increase.

The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version is now priced at Rs 28,999, up from Rs 26,999. Meanwhile, the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model now carries a price tag of Rs 31,999, compared to its previous price of Rs 29,999.

OPPO F33 Sees Biggest Price Increase

Among the affected smartphones, the OPPO F33 has received the highest price revision with all variants becoming Rs 3,000 more expensive.

The 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant now costs Rs 34,999 instead of Rs 31,999. The 8GB RAM + 128GB model has moved from Rs 34,999 to Rs 36,999, while the 8GB RAM + 256GB version is now available at Rs 39,999, up from Rs 37,999.

New Prices at a glance –

OPPO A6 4GB + 128GB ₹21,999 ₹23,999 ₹2,000
OPPO A6 6GB + 128GB ₹23,999 ₹25,999 ₹2,000
OPPO A6 6GB + 256GB ₹25,999 ₹27,999 ₹2,000
OPPO A6 Pro 8GB + 128GB ₹26,999 ₹28,999 ₹2,000

OPPO F33 8GB + 128GB ₹34,999 ₹36,999 ₹2,000
OPPO F33 8GB + 256GB ₹37,999 ₹39,999 ₹2,000

Why Oppo Is Increasing  Prices?

While OPPO has not officially disclosed the reason behind the latest price revision, smartphone manufacturers are now typically increasing prices due to several factors. These mainly include rising component costs such as memory chips.

Consumers planning to purchase any of the affected OPPO smartphones may now need to pay the revised prices, which are higher by up to Rs 3,000 depending on the model and variant.

Should You Still Consider These OPPO Phones After the Price Hike?

The Oppo A6 and A6 Pro share several key specifications including a massive 7,000mAh battery, MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, and a 120Hz display. The F33 sits a step above with a 120Hz AMOLED screen, the newer Dimensity 6360 Max processor and support for 80W fast charging.

With the latest price revision now in effect, potential buyers may want to compare them against competing options in the same price bracket. Smartphones such as the iQOO Z11x, POCO M8, and Realme P4 series could be a good alternative.

Oppo F33 continues to offer the most well-rounded package thanks to its AMOLED display, long battery life, fast charging capabilities, and robust durability credentials. However, with the top-end variant now priced close to Rs 40,000, it enters a highly competitive segment where alternatives such as the OnePlus Nord CE 6, Motorola Edge 70 Pro and Redmi Turbo 5.

All in all, the OPPO lineup still remains a compelling choice for users who prioritise battery backup and durability above everything else.

Nothing appears to be preparing to expand its smartphone portfolio in India with the introduction of a new device. The company has started teasing the upcoming handset through official channels indicating that a launch announcement may not be far away. Here’s what we know so far.

Nothing Teases New “4b” Smartphone Again

The Carl Pei company recently shared a teaser on X with the first glimpse of an upcoming smartphone. The teaser video showcases the outline of a handset and concludes with a pencil marked “4b” hinting that the device could launch as the Nothing Phone 4b.

Notably, the company has yet to officially confirm the device name, specifications or launch date.

Adding to the speculation, a dedicated Flipkart microsite for a new “b” series smartphone has also gone live. The listing confirms that the device will be available through the e-commerce platform once it launches in India.

Design Details Revealed Through Teaser

The teaser provides an early look at the phone’s design language. The device appears to feature a single rear camera setup. Like other Nothing smartphones, the upcoming handset seems to retain the brand’s signature transparent rear panel design. The teaser also reveals visible screws and internal design elements continuing the brand aesthetic that has become associated with the company.

The smartphone is further shown with a flat rear panel and rounded corners, a design that resembles the existing Phone 4a series.

CMF Projects May Be Moving Under Nothing Branding

The teaser arrives shortly after reports claimed that CMF has shifted its ongoing smartphone projects to the Nothing brand. One of these devices is reportedly scheduled to launch in India next month.

While it remains unclear whether that handset will debut as the Nothing Phone 4b, the timing of the teaser has fueled speculation that the two developments could be connected.

CMF has already confirmed that it does not plan to launch a new smartphone this year. The company has also postponed the successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, which makes the possibility of those projects moving under the Nothing branding more likely.

Earlier this year, Nothing founder Carl Pei revealed that the company would not launch a new flagship smartphone in 2026. Instead, the brand focused on expanding its mid-range portfolio.

With official teasers now live and a Flipkart microsite already in place, more details about this mystery smartphone are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.

Xiaomi Pad 9 Series Launch Timeline Remains Unclear

Previous reports from December suggested that the Xiaomi Pad 9 would receive a broader international rollout. However, the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro may reportedly skip launch in India.

The Pro variant is said to be in development with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor positioning it as the more powerful option within the lineup.

While the model numbering hints at an October debut, there remains a possibility that Xiaomi could unveil the Pad 9 series earlier in its home market.

Since current rumours indicate that the Xiaomi 18 family could launch in China this September, there is a chance that the Xiaomi Pad 9 series may also be announced at the same event. Anyhow, more details about both the smartphones and tablets are expected to surface in the coming weeks.
