Vivo X500 Series To Launch on September 21, New Camera Tech and 4K 120fps Log Video Teased

Vivo has officially announced the launch date of its upcoming Vivo X500 series of smartphones. The company revealed that the new Vivo X500 lineup will be launched on September 21 with the announcement made during the Vivo Creator Festival.

Teasers of the upcoming smartphone lineup were showcased at the event suggesting that the X500 series will continue with the large circular camera module on the rear, similar to the previous-generation X-series smartphones. However, the new lineup is expected to bring major hardware and processing upgrades with a strong focus on professional-level photography and videography.

Vivo X500 Series Camera and Video Upgrades

The Vivo X500 series is set to introduce several notable camera hardware upgrades. Based on the technical information revealed at the event and earlier industry reports, the lineup will be the first smartphone series to feature the new Blueprint 900 image sensor.

Another major upgrade will be the inclusion of CIPA 7.0-standard optical image stabilisation (OIS). This stabilisation technology will be available on both the main camera and the periscope telephoto camera. Vivo is also adding an upgraded AI photography assistant that is designed to improve scene processing and help enhance the overall photography experience.

The X500 series is also being positioned as a major upgrade for smartphone video recording. The lineup is said to offer up to 17EV of dynamic range, while supporting 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding and the ACES (Academy Color Encoding System) standard.

The upcoming 2nm MediaTek Dimensity platform will also play an important role in the video capabilities of the series. It will provide dedicated hardware-level Log processing, allowing the phones to directly record and output 4K video at 120fps in 10-bit Log format.

For live streaming, the X500 series will support native 8K Live direct output. Platform-level support for uploading 8K live streams is also planned.

Vivo X500 Series Specifications

The Vivo X500 family is expected to include multiple models with the different variants offering distinct camera sensors, stabilisation systems and processors.

The standard Vivo X500 is expected to feature a 50-megapixel main camera using the 1/1.28-inch Sony LYTIA-828 sensor. It will be accompanied by a Sony LYTIA-610 telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The main model is also listed with CIPA 7.0-standard stabilisation.

The Vivo X500 Pro will also feature a Sony LYTIA-610 telephoto camera, although its complete specifications have not yet been revealed. It will also offer CIPA 7.0-standard stabilisation.

At the top of the lineup, the Vivo X500 Pro Max is expected to come with a 6.83-inch BOE Q11 2K display. The smartphone is tipped to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, which is based on a 2nm process.

For photography, the Vivo X500 Pro Max is expected to feature a 50-megapixel 1/1.28-inch main camera, a 200-megapixel HP0 telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor. The model is also said to feature 3-degree wide-angle gimbal stabilisation.
