OnePlus India has dismissed recent rumours suggesting that the company is preparing to shut down its operations in India in 2027. In an official statement, the company clarified that its business in the country continues as normal.

The clarification comes after reports claimed that OnePlus could gradually withdraw from several international markets as part of a broader restructuring by its parent company, Oppo. Separately, OnePlus has also announced that eligible smartphones will transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS 17 following the release of Android 17 later this year. At the same time, the company confirmed that it will wind down operations in select global markets.

OnePlus India Rejects Shutdown Speculation

Responding to the rumours, OnePlus India said, “OnePlus India continues to operate its business as usual, with all local operations on track. We urge the media to exercise restraint before amplifying unverified speculation”.

The statement makes it clear that the company’s operations in India remain unaffected for now. However, it does not provide any clarity regarding the brand’s long-term plans beyond 2026.

Reports Suggest Wider Oppo Restructuring

Earlier, a Bloomberg report claimed that OnePlus could first cease operations in the US and Europe before eventually expanding the restructuring to other international markets, including India. Citing a person familiar with the matter, the report said the move is part of a larger restructuring exercise being carried out by Oppo.

According to the report, OnePlus’ India exit is expected sometime in 2027.

The report further stated that Oppo is restructuring its smartphone business amid slowing growth across several international markets including the US, Europe and India. Rising component costs, particularly DRAM and memory prices, geopolitical challenges in the United States and an ongoing legal dispute involving Apple have reportedly contributed to the company’s decision.

It also claimed that Realme, another smartphone brand under Oppo, could exit the Chinese market as part of the same restructuring strategy. Oppo is expected to continue focusing on the Chinese market while strengthening its presence in Central Europe. Meanwhile, Realme devices could receive greater focus in Nordic countries such as Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland, where demand has reportedly remained strong.

Notably, this is the first report to suggest that India may eventually be included in Oppo’s restructuring plans. Previous reports had only pointed towards a possible withdrawal from the US and European markets, while OnePlus’ future in India remained uncertain.

The company’s future has been under discussion for some time. Earlier rumours had suggested that OnePlus could wind down its operations before it was eventually merged with Realme under Oppo’s umbrella. The latest developments also follow leadership changes at OnePlus India earlier this year, when Robin Liu stepped down as CEO as part of the company’s efforts to streamline local operations.

The Bloomberg report quoted its source as saying, “The change is happening as part of a larger restructuring to parent company OPPO, or Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications Corporation Ltd., said the person, who asked not to be identified discussing a private plan.”

The report also stated that OnePlus’ slower growth in recent years across the US, Europe and India, along with geopolitical concerns, has influenced Oppo’s restructuring strategy.

OnePlus Announced Transition From OxygenOS to ColorOS 17

Alongside the clarification regarding its India operations, OnePlus has announced a major software strategy change.

In a post shared on the OnePlus India Community Forum, the company confirmed that eligible smartphones will be able to voluntarily upgrade from OxygenOS to ColorOS 17 after the release of Android 17 later this year.

According to OnePlus, the move is intended to unify software development with Oppo, enabling faster software updates, improved software quality and better utilisation of shared research and development resources.

The company said users can expect a “more stable, reliable, and future-ready software experience” following the transition.

OnePlus also stated that it remains committed to delivering a fast, intuitive and user-focused software experience throughout the migration process. While an exact rollout timeline has not been announced, the company said details regarding eligible devices and the deployment schedule will be shared at a later stage.

OnePlus to Wind Down Operations in Select Global Markets

Separately, OnePlus also published a statement on the OnePlus US Community Forum confirming a broader global restructuring strategy.

Describing the decision as “by no means an easy call to make”, the company announced that future product launches in the US, Canada and Europe will come to an end as part of a proactive global strategy adjustment.

The company writes, “As part of the proactive global strategy adjustment, OnePlus has decided to conclude new product rollouts in North America. We know so many of you in the Community have backed OnePlus for years, and this news is going to be disappointing. This was by no means an easy call to make, and we wanted to come forward and be completely honest with the friends who have stood by us for so long.”

However, existing OnePlus users in these markets will continue to receive scheduled software updates, security patches, warranty services and after-sales support. The company also confirmed that customer service channels will remain operational and that it will continue to honour all existing consumer protection commitments.

The same tipster had earlier revealed that the Indian variant could arrive with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage as the base model. It is also expected to be offered in Blue and Dark Night colour options, while additional storage variants may be introduced later.

The Realme Narzo 100x 5G features a 6.8-inch HD+ (720 × 1,570 pixels) LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 180Hz touch sampling rate. The screen offers a 90.4 percent screen-to-body ratio, 254ppi pixel density, and up to 1,200 nits High Brightness Mode (HBM) brightness. The display is protected by Panda-1681 glass.

Powering the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 octa-core processor paired with an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It is available with up to 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.

For thermal management, the device is equipped with a 5,300 sq mm AirFlow Vapour Chamber Cooling System. The dual SIM phone runs Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16.

For photography, the Realme Narzo 100x 5G features an AI-powered dual rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, 75-degree field of view, and a 5P lens. On the front, it houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The phone also includes several AI-powered features such as AI Assistant for Notes, AI Eraser, AI-powered Portrait Lighting, and AI Pulse Light.

The phone packs a massive 8,000mAh battery with support for 45W SuperVOOC fast charging and reverse charging. According to the company, the battery can deliver up to 12 hours of gaming on a single charge.

The handset comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock for security. It also includes sensors such as an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, electronic compass, and proximity sensor.

Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C, GPS, A-GNSS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS.

Realme says the smartphone features ArmorShell Protection and has passed the MIL-STD-810H military-grade shock resistance test. It also carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.

The smartphone measures 166.4 x 78.2 x 8.8mm and weighs approximately 224g.

OnePlus appears to be preparing another budget smartphone for the Indian market. After recently launching the OnePlus N6, the company has now started teasing the arrival of the OnePlus N6x on Amazon India. The latest confirms that the handset could make its debut in the country soon. Here’s what we know about the upcoming smartphone so far.

OnePlus N6x Teased for India Launch

According to tipster Yogesh Brar’s recent X post, OnePlus is working on another smartphone in the N6 series, which will be called the OnePlus N6x. While an exact launch date has not been revealed, the tipster says the device is “coming soon.”

At the same time, OnePlus has also begun teasing the smartphone’s arrival through a dedicated page on Amazon India. This now suggests that an official announcement may not be far away.

Meanwhile, the tipster further claims that the OnePlus N6x will offer “familiar specs” hinting that it could share much of its hardware with an existing smartphone.

Although the specifications of the OnePlus N6x remain under wraps, the smartphone is expected to be positioned below the OnePlus N6 in the company’s lineup.

The OnePlus N6 is currently the brand’s most affordable smartphone in 2026. It sits below the Nord lineup including the Nord CE 6 Lite, which received a price increase in June. The OnePlus N6 is priced at Rs 22,999, while the Nord CE 6 Lite currently starts at Rs 25,999. The upcoming N6x is expected to further strengthen OnePlus’ budget smartphone portfolio.

This suggests that it could be priced under Rs 20,000, making it OnePlus’ most affordable smartphone in India. If launched below the Rs 20,000 price segment, the OnePlus N6x could appeal to buyers looking for an affordable OnePlus smartphone.

The smartphone has made its debut in Thailand, just weeks after the company introduced the Pova 8 5G in India. The new Pova 8 Pro arrives with a distinctive “Alive Matrix” rear panel, a 144Hz AMOLED display, and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset paired with up to 12GB RAM. Pova 8 Pro 5G – Price and Availability

The Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G has been introduced in Thailand in three memory configurations. The base model offers 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, while the 12GB RAM variant is available in 256GB and 512GB storage options.

The smartphone is priced at approximately Rs 25,000. Tecno is yet to announce the prices of all three variants, and the details are expected to be revealed later.

The handset is available in Arc White, Graphite Black, and Tundra Green colour options.

Pova 8 Pro 5G – Key Features

Newly unveiled Pova 8 Pro 5G features a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution (2644 x 1208 pixels). The screen supports a 144Hz refresh rate, 4,500 nits peak brightness, and 2592Hz PWM dimming. It also includes an in-display fingerprint scanner and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

The Pova 8 Pro 5G runs Android 16 with HiOS 16 on top. Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor. The octa-core chipset is built on a 4nm process and offers clock speeds of up to 2.6GHz, while graphics are handled by the Arm Mali-G615 MC2 GPU.

The biggest design highlight of the Pova 8 Pro 5G is its “Alive Matrix” design on the rear panel. Integrated next to the camera module. This secondary display houses 177 LED lights that illuminate for notifications, display the time, and show various animations. Users can customise the lighting effects, with support for 49 different animation styles.

For photography, the smartphone comes with a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 700C primary sensor with LED flash and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front, it houses a 13-megapixel selfie camera for selfies and video calls.

The phone packs a 6,500mAh battery, which Tecno says is designed to deliver a six-year lifespan. It also features self-repairing battery technology, which the company claims can restore 1 percent battery health after every 200 charging cycles. The battery is also designed to maintain its performance in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C.

According to Tecno, the battery can provide more than 27 hours of video playback on a full charge. The smartphone supports 45W fast charging and features a 5K IceShield VC cooling system to keep temperatures under control during intensive gaming and charging sessions.

Gaming-focused features include 4D game vibration, while the display is designed to remain responsive even with wet or oily hands. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and an infrared (IR) blaster, allowing the phone to be used as a TV remote.

The handset also carries IP69K, IP69, IP68, and IP66 ratings for protection against dust and water.
