OnePlus has officially confirmed the launch date of its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16. The phone will launch in China on October 12 and the Chinese brand has already revealed several gaming-focused technologies ahead of the event. After the new white colour image leak, the latest updates put gaming performance at the centre of the OnePlus 16 with features including a new Fengchi Game Core, a self-developed esports triple-chip system, an 185Hz ultra-high refresh rate and DLSS 4-generation-style superframe technology. OnePlus 16 Launch Date Confirmed for October 12
OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will launch in China on October 12. Alongside the launch date, the company has revealed some of the phone’s key gaming technologies.
The OnePlus 16 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen6 built on a 2nm process, according to the latest announcement. The phone will also support an 185Hz ultra-high refresh rate and feature a new-generation Fengchi Game Core designed for gaming performance and power efficiency.
OnePlus is also introducing a new-generation self-developed esports triple-core system along with DLSS 4-generation-style superframe technology aimed at delivering smoother gameplay.
OnePlus 16 Gets Triple Esports Chip System
The OnePlus 16’s self-developed esports solution consists of three dedicated chips:
- Super Display P4 Screen Chip
- Wi-Fi / Esports Network Chip G3
- Lingxi Touch Chip T3
These chips are designed to handle different aspects of the gaming experience including display performance, network connectivity and touch response.
OnePlus is also highlighting native 185FPS gaming on the OnePlus 16. The company says the feature will be supported in games including Game For Peace, Arena Breakout, Nizhan Future, CrossFire Legends, Lost Light and Naruto Mobile, among others.
The combination of the high refresh rate, dedicated gaming chips and superframe technology is expected to help the phone deliver smoother gameplay while keeping power consumption under control.
OnePlus 16 Display, Camera and Performance Details
The OnePlus 16 had previously been confirmed to support a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate, although the latest gaming announcement highlights an even higher 185Hz mode for supported gaming scenarios.
Earlier reports also suggested that the phone could feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display and a large 9,000mAh battery. The flagship has reportedly scored 5,384,433 points on AnTuTu V12. The reported score includes 1,458,283 points in the CPU test, 2,010,584 points in the GPU test, 766,362 points in the memory test and 1,149,204 points in the UX test.
Earlier leaks had pointed towards the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, but OnePlus’ latest announcement now points to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen6 for the upcoming flagship.
OnePlus has already confirmed a 200-megapixel HPE primary camera for the OnePlus 16. It will be joined by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with OIS and 3X zoom.
The phone will also introduce the company’s LUMO Imaging system. It will include the LUMO Color Palette and Open Gate support, while video recording will support up to 4K at 120fps along with Dolby Vision and LOG recording.
The camera system will also offer several new shooting modes. These include Master Mode for film-like control over light and shadows, High-Resolution Mode for improved clarity and 65:24 Wide-Field Mode for a more cinematic aspect ratio.
OnePlus 16 Colours and Storage Options
Previous official teasers have confirmed colour options for the OnePlus 16 in China. These include Dark Forest in black finish, Mars Masterpiece with a light orange finish and Tomorrow Starlight in grey. The Mars Masterpiece and Tomorrow Starlight versions are expected to feature a unique pattern on the rear panel.
OnePlus is also expected to offer the phone in four memory and storage configurations including 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB.
