Apple will no longer repair iPhones marked as stolen, missing

Apple will no longer fix iPhones that have been reported stolen or lost through the GSMA Device Registry. This means that Apple Store staff and Apple Authorized Support Providers will refuse to repair iPhones that have been identified as lost in the MobileGenius or GSX systems that they use to provide customer service.

According to an internal memo obtained by MacRumors, Apple will now check the GSMA Device Registry database to see if an iPhone has been recorded as lost before proceeding with the repair process. If an iPhone is “reported as missing” in the database and company’s internal systems, the technicians must deny the repair.

What’s GSMA Device Registry?

The GSMA global register is a database of serial numbers and associated statuses of the devices, such as lost, stolen, and fraudulent. The register also specifies whether or not an item is on a payment plan. The state of registered devices informs what actions should be taken by individuals who handle them. For example, if a device is reported stolen, it will be denied network connection and will not be purchased or sold. This data is useful in cases of device theft, digital fraud, and security concerns.

Samsung inks MoU with Western Digital to create an ecosystem for zoned storage solutions

To standardize and drive broad adoption of next-generation data placement, processing and fabrics (D2PF) storage technologies, South Korean tech giant Samsung has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Western Digital. This partnership is aimed create widespread alignment and stimulate awareness for important storage technologies.

Under the MoU, Samsung and Western Digital will work together to create an ecosystem for zoned storage solutions.

With such collaborations, industry will be able to focus on countless applications that create greater value for customers.

This will also help end-users to get the confidence that these emerging storage technologies will have support from multiple device vendors as well as from vertically integrated hardware and software companies. In future, these initiatives will be expanded to include other emerging D2PF technologies such as computational storage and storage fabrics including NVMe™ over Fabrics (NVMe-oF).

Motorola Frontier to come with Samsung 200MP sensor: Details inside

Lenovo-owned Motorola is scheduled to debut its next flagship phone, the Motorola Frontier, after introducing a succession of budget and mid-range phones in the G-series.

This forthcoming flagship phone could be the world’s first 200MP smartphone, according to the report. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset can also be used in this phone.

On the other hand, the Lenovo China’s General Manager for Mobile Phones Business Department has released a snapshot of a 125W Motorola Charging Adapter. Motorola’s Moto Frontier smartphone is expected to include 125W rapid charging capability.

The Motorola Frontier will include a 6.67-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 memory can be used by the company. The Motorola Frontier is expected to come pre-installed with Android 12. It could be powered by a 4,500mAh battery with 125W rapid charging capabilities.

The Motorola Frontier’s camera module appears to be identical to that of the Xiaomi 12, with the primary sensor at the top and two standard sensors at the bottom, based on the images. A tiny strap with an LED flash and the words ‘200MP HP1 OIS f/2.2 aperture’ is attached to the camera module. This image confirms that Motorola’s forthcoming flagship phone would have a larger camera sensor.

To recall, tipster Evan Blass revealed the design of the upcoming smartphone from various angles. According to the renders, the Motorola phone has a curved display and a curved back. A hole-punch cutout for the front camera can be seen in the centre of the display. The volume rocker and power button are located on the right side of the Motorola Frontier.

The back panel has edge-to-edge horizontal strips, the Batwing logo in the centre, and a rectangular camera module in the upper left corner. The USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and SIM card tray are located at the bottom.

It gets amassed so often that looking for specific content becomes so difficult. However, Twitter has just come up with a solution.

Twitter has rolled out its latest feature where users can search for any specific message in their DM’s. Earlier, they did have the access to search their DM’s, but it was only limited to searching other users or groups, you’re a part of!

Twitter said in a tweet that users would be able to utilise the search bar to look for certain terms and names in their inbox. When users search in the DMs, Twitter will provide three options: People, Groups, and Messages. The new functionality allows users to search for specific messages.

Last year, Twitter announced the addition of a search bar for DMs to its Android app, as well as the ability to search for a particular material in DMs. The DM search function in Twitter’s iOS app was released two years before the Android app.

Twitter announced earlier this week that users on iOS would be able to capture GIFs using the in-app camera. Users may share GIFs by pressing and holding the record button, then tapping the photo symbol, then the camera icon, making sure to pick the GIF mode. As expected, the release is coming just after the launch of the GT 2 Pro. The tweet also suggests that the specifications of the Indian 10 Pro variant will be similar to the one launched in China last year. Anyways, we will see that once the device reaches our hands!

Microsoft convincing more game developers to use Azure

For quite some time now, Microsoft has been persuading many game creators to join its Azure cloud computing service. It even introduced numerous new initiatives and services geared exclusively at them.

Sticking to the ideation, Microsoft has announced the Azure Game Development Virtual Machine on March 24, 2022. It allows game creators to test and build games in a production-ready cloud environment. On Microsoft’s virtual machines (VMs), game creators will be able to get started straight away using tools like Unreal Engine, Perforce, Incredibuild, Visual Studio, and Blender, as well as software development kits (SDKs) including Microsoft Game Development Kit (GDK), PlayFab, and DirectX.

According to Microsoft officials, the pre-built Game Development Virtual Machine allows developers to set up game development workstations or establish servers in less than five minutes. It also has a customised Game Dev VM that may be used as a basis image for creating bespoke workstation setups or building servers.

“We’re committed to making Azure the cloud of choice for game creators, so expect to see additional investments in the future, including: more powerful compute and GPUs; tighter partner integrations with improved cloud-native authentication; better end-to-end examples and documentation on running your game dev pipeline in Azure; better options for cloud pipelines leveraging Xbox development and more,” said Ben Humphrey, Principal Software Engineer for Azure in today’s blog post about the VM.

Azure is a free service that gives game creators access to Microsoft tools and infrastructure for creating cross-platform games. This programme offers free validation and integration services, as well as instructional resources and Azure professional assistance. The ID@Azure initiative was first released as an invitation-only limited beta test in December. It is currently available to the general public.

Microsoft’s xCloud game-streaming service also function on Azure. Game creators have access to Bing Maps, Microsoft Mesh, Bing Maps, Azure AI, PlayFab developer services, and other Microsoft cloud technologies for constructing and managing their games.
