Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-Powered Moto X40’s AnTuTu Score Out, Beats Dimensity 9200

Moto X40

While the speculations around Motorola launching Moto X40 soon in the Chinese market are high, the device had its AnTuTu benchmark scores revealed recently. Lenovo Group General Manager for Mobile Division Chen Jin recently revealed that Moto X40 has scored a whopping 1312901 points in the AnTuTu benchmark test.

The results have tech enthusiasts excited since this is a much higher score than the 12661012 points scored by MediaTek Dimensity 9200 in the same test. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Moto X40 is one of the first few smartphones that are being launched with the processor. MediaTek Dimensity 9200 is a segment rival of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and such difference in their AnTuTu scores definitely pose the latter as a clear winner.

Chen Jin made the revelation by sharing a screenshot of the AnTuTu benchmark scoreboard of the Moto X40. This score in itself gives a basic idea of what the users should expect from Qualcomm’s flagship SoC. The scores make it quite evident that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 would perform a tad better in comparison to the MediaTek Dimensity 9200.

As mentioned earlier, Moto X40 is one of the first few devices to have been powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.  Other than Moto X40, there is Vivo X90 Pro+, the iQOO 11 lineup, the Xiaomi 13 series, and also the OnePlus 11 to come out with the same processor this year. All these smartphones are going to be the flagship devices of the respective brands. Similar to Moto X40, all these devices will also record their AnTuTu score in order to give customers a clear idea of what to expect from them.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is basically a 4nm chip that features 2.8GHz 2 x Kryo Cortex-A715 performance cores, a 3.2GHz Cortex-X3 prime core, 2.8GHz 2 x Kryo Cortex-A510 performance cores, and 2.0GHz Kryo efficiency cores.

Moto X40

Although there is still some time before we will get to see the full reveal of the Moto X40 and its specifications, the rumours mill has been doing its job. If several leaks and tips are to be believed, the device will sport a 6.67 inch OLED FHD+ resolution display, 10-bit colours with curved edges on all four sides. After the device was spotted at TENAA, many tech bloggers speculated that Moto X40 will have under display fingerprint scanner and will most likely run on the Android 13 OS based MY UI 5.0.

Other rumoured features of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Moto X40 include up to 18 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage, a heavy duty 5,000mAh battery capacity couple with 68W fast charging. Moto X40 will be further equipped with a triple rear camera setup with a 50 megapixel (main) + 50 megapixel (ultra-wide) + 12 megapixel (telephoto) on the back. It will have a 60 megapixel selfie camera on the front also. Moreover, the latest Qualcomm flagship chip, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, provides up to 8K video capture capability along with playback. The smartphone, however, only supports up to 4K display.

Highlights

  • FIFA World Cup 2022 began on November 20
  • Viacom-18 bagged the official broadcasting rights for the FIFA World Cup
  • The court’s interim injunction shall operate for a period of four weeks

In Brief

FIFA World Cup 2022 kicked off on November 20, 2022 with much fanfare and adulation among football enthusiasts for whom this is no less than a festival that they can enjoy once every four years.

India has no dearth of football aficionados either because there is enough home-grown talent here that can easily be compared to the best of international footballers.

But FIFA World Cup is, after all, FIFA World Cup that has a massive fan following in India because the sheer volume of people watching FIFA World Cup on their Smart TV’s and online is too big to be measured, which was expected to be the same in 2022 as well.

However, the Madras High Court has restrained the internet service providers and TV Cables in certain countries from telecasting football matches that will take place at the Qatar-based world cup, which will surely spell bad news for FIFA lovers.

This year, Viacom-18 Media has bagged the official broadcasting rights for FIFA World Cup 2022 and has now filed a civil suit in court to remove the ban but the Madras HC has passed interim orders on the application that arose from the suit.

As soon as the court granted the injunction, there has been a prima facie case that has been made by the petitioner, who is the copyright owner in the FIFA event and he feels that there will be no compensation parameter for him due to the telecast of the world cup.

FIFA

Madras HC has ordered the interim injunction citing copyright infringement as they feel that the restraining order will prevent communication, copying, displaying, transmission, showing, hosting, downloading, or uploading the world cup in any way, shape, or form.

Due to this, the court feels that it is necessary to block web pages/websites whenever the situation calls for it and this is one such situation where the interim injunction is necessary, the time period of which is four weeks, which is up to December 16, 2022.

Countries like India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, among others had gained the license and media rights, like exclusive TV, Radio, and mobile transmission rights to telecast FIFA World Cup 2022 in these territories by the Federation Internationale De Football Association (FIFA).

Conclusion

Under the circumstances, there are many cable services and internet service providers that are involved in illegal activities like unauthorized retransmitting, streaming, and recording audio-visual clips and full sports events that can cause huge economic loss and damage to the federation, which is why the restraining order has been initiated.

Prepaid Recharge Plan by Bharti Airtel at Rs.155; Details Inside

Bharti Airtel
Bharti Airtel

Highlights

  • Bharti Airtel may roll out the plan across India based on market result
  • In Haryana and Odisha, Airtel has now started offering the Rs. 155 plan
  • Bharti has taken the industry’s first step in implementing a tariff hike

In Brief

5G services were launched in India on October 1, 2022 at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) held in New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the event was also graced by the who’s who of the tech industry, along with other politicians in the central government.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, two of the biggest telecom giants in the country, took the responsibility of spreading 5G network all around, beginning with 8 metropolitan cities, which included Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, among others.]

Bharti Airtel has a minimum monthly prepaid recharge plan, which is a service plan of 28 days by 57% to Rs.155 in Haryana and Odisha, which is not the first time as the telecom giant increased the minimum recharge offer from Rs.79 to Rs.99 in select cities back in 2021.

Under the previous recharge plan at Rs.99, Bharti Airtel offered 200MB data while the call rate was Rs.2.5 paisa per second, while Airtel has increased it two Rs.155 in both Haryana and Odisha, as mentioned, with unlimited calling at 1GB data and 300SMSes as perks.

Bharti Airtel

This new plan is under trial phase, which is why it is being started in two states in the initial stages, although the company has decided to roll it out all over India depending on its results in the first two states.

It is highly likely that Bharti Airtel will end all 28-day calling plans with data and SMS that are below Rs.155, implying that if an SMS service is included in the monthly plan, the customer has to recharge their phone with a Rs.155 voucher.

It appears that Bharti Airtel wants to implement hikes in tariff while keeping the current market situation in mind, but now it all depends on how well it is received in Haryana and Odisha, failing which the company has no choice but to move back to Rs.99 pack.

Conclusion

It remains to be seen whether this new prepaid recharge plan will reap any benefits or not because it is impossible to gauge the mood of the public and whether they will see this plan as beneficial for them or not.

Bharti Airtel always has enough riding upon itself so it needs to carefully implement such plans while keeping public sentiments in mind otherwise it will not bode well for the company.

Jio Cinema Ruins FIFA World Cup 2022 Streaming in India with Glitch-Ridden Stream

FIFA World Cup 2022

FIFA World Cup 2022, the most highly anticipated sports event, had a grand opening in Qatar this week with much fanfare and grandeur. However, the football festival started on a not-so-fun note for Indian viewers who planned on streaming the inaugural match on Jio Cinemas App. The online streaming platform suffered constant glitches and intermittent lags throughout the game. The inaugural match was played between Ecuador and the host country, Qatar.

Jio Cinemas, the flagship streaming app of Reliance Jio, has the online streaming rights for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the company is providing free access to its platform for Indian football fans to enjoy the event. However, it appears that the streaming platform wasn’t really prepared to handle the stream on such a huge scale and a lot of difficulties cropped up for viewers across the country. The unexpected error encountered during the live stream along with frequent glitches and buffers. Many fans also complained of low quality video whenever the stream was working.

Miffed fans across the country were quick to turn to social media to voice their disappointment. One of the viewers tweeted, “Streaming is lagging a lot. I even missed the first two goals of this year’s FIFA world cup. Really disappointed.” Another user said in their tweet, “Wow #JioCinema you guys should have tested your servers before putting in your bid for broadcasting #FIFAWorldCup in India. Pathetic service.”

One viewer noted how offering free streaming to viewers would mean nothing if the services are poor, “Can’t even watch 1 min. I subscribed to Voot for the matches. I don’t mind paying instead of this. Very disappointed.” At the same time, another user also pointed out, “Did upgrade the #JioCinema app, no improvement. Still stuck after 3-5 seconds. Awful experience.”

FIFA World Cup 2022

Many viewers even posted buffering videos and screenshots to validate all the issues they were facing trying to stream the game. One viewer posted a video that showed how the live stream started buffering right before an important goal. Soon, negative hashtags against Jio Cinemas started trending on Twitter with the disappointed fans trying to vent their frustration by noting everything that was wrong with Jio Cinema’s streaming service.

Following the backlash on a large scale, the Reliance owned streaming platform had to come out, acknowledge the multiple issues faced by the viewers during the live stream, and tweet an apology. The company, however, tried to apologise with light hearted TikTok meme in an effort to keep the temperature down. The company tweeted, “We are continuously working to give you a great experience. Please upgrade your app to the latest version to enjoy #FIFAWorldCupQatar2022. Apologies for any inconvenience.”

Fans, however, were not really convinced by Jio Cinema’s apology and the light hearted approach of sharing memes while being regretful didn’t really work with the disappointed fans. “At 300 Mbps broadband connection, the picture is getting stuck again & again. It is a very bad experience. Now even @SonyLIV seems superb in comparison to this. It’s gonna be a horrifying experience for Indian fans. Get ready to be disappointed,” wrote one such disappointed Jio Cinema user.

There have been many speculations surrounding the upcoming Xiaomi 13 that has been much awaited for a long time and many users have constantly expressed their disappointment at not being able to get any information about it.

Among the many rumours, one of them was Xiaomi in talks of skipping the ’13’ moniker and launching the flagship model as Xiaomi 14, although it turned out to be untrue, but it is expected to come out in the next few weeks.

The supply chain too has revealed certain specifications surrounding the model along with a name change but there are reliable tipsters that are closely connected to inside sources in the company that know the skuttle bug of what is going on, one of whom has totally refuted all such rumours as fake and baseless.

Apart from this, a leaked image has surfaced online which many experts have confirmed to be Xiaomi 13, which reveals a dummy phone made of aluminum that is flat and has squared edges but due to the Xiaomi flagship, the company had no choice but to do away with the round edges.

Xiaomi 13 images that have come out closely resemble an iPhone and that isn’t just due to the squared edges but also the new design on the rear like a camera bump, which again closely resembles the camera modules of an iPhone, the only difference being that this bump occupies more space on the rear than an iPhone.

The Chinese tech giant wants to make sure that Xiaomi 13 is quite different from all its predecessors which is why there are many features and newer upgrades that users can expect from the upcoming flagship model.

Coming to camera, Xiaomi 13 may come with a 50MP primary rear camera setup, along with an optical image stabilization (OIS) and will be powered by a Sony IMX-8-series image sensor.
