The iQOO Z9x 5G was on showcase quite recently in China.

Now it appears the affordable handset could make its way to the Indian market soon.

The Chinese variant features a 6.72-inch 120Hz LCD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, a 6,000mAh battery with 44W charging, and a 50MP triple rear camera setup.

In China, the 8GB+128GB model of the Z9x 5G is priced at CNY 1,199 (around Rs 13,800).

Recent Bumble research shows women’s experiences have evolved, especially regarding empowerment in online dating.

Keeping true to Bumble’s mission, equality remains a priority in relationships with the overwhelming majority (92%) of women stating it is a top marker in romance.

However, how women define equality has evolved with almost 9 in 10* (88%) single women surveyed on the app globally stating that today, equality is about personal choice and autonomy to decide what’s right for you.

After billions of first moves and countless Bumble success stories, Bumble continues to prioritize community-first feedback with solutions that make dating better for women.

This builds upon the company’s decade of leadership in addressing issues that impact women online, including banning body shaming and gender-based hate, launching features to combat non-consensual lewd content, and leveraging AI to automatically block spam, scam, and fake profiles.

According to research, the majority of women (60%) surveyed use Bumble because they believe the app delivers a better experience for them.

The Evolution of Make The First Move

Beginning today, women on Bumble have even more choice in how they connect with the launch of Opening Moves.

The new feature gives women the option to set a question that their matches can respond to, creating a new way to engage with connections while keeping women in control.

Nearly half of women* (46%) surveyed on Bumble shared that having more ways to start a conversation would make their dating app experience even better.

Women can use one of Bumble’s recommended Opening Moves, or craft their own.

For nonbinary and same-gender connections, either person can set and respond to an Opening Move.

“We have always believed that when you make dating better for women, you make it better for everyone. In listening to our community, many have shared their exhaustion with the current online dating experience, and for some, that includes making the first move.

We’re also hearing from women that empowerment today is not only about control but it’s also about agency, and we’re excited to offer more choice in how women make the first move with our new Opening Moves feature,” said Lidiane Jones, CEO of Bumble. “We want to evolve with our community, shifting from a fixed approach to giving women more options in how they engage.”

“Bumble has been leading in addressing the challenges of online spaces, introducing industry-first features like Private Detector™ to identify unsolicited lewd images, AI and machine learning to identify scams and spam, and comprehensive Community Guidelines.

This latest launch reflects the first step in our continued commitment to making dating better for women, creating space for people to establish relationship dynamics that work for them,” Jones continued.

During testing, Bumble found that Opening Moves improved meaningful conversations on the app by increasing chat initiation and reply rates, as well as lengthening time spent in conversation.

Expanded Compatibility and Stronger Curation

Relationships look different for everyone, but more than 2 in 3 (68%) of women surveyed stated that they struggle with people not being upfront about their dating intentions.

Bumble’s data also shows that women want to learn more about a potential match before they connect, with nearly 80% swiping right once they have viewed the entire profile.

To help people better communicate what they are looking for now, not just in the future, the app has updated its Dating Intentions badges to include everything from ‘fun, casual dates’ and ‘intimacy without commitment’ to a ‘life partner’ and ‘ethical non-monogamy.’

Faqs

What prompts can users set to be answered by their matches?

Some prompt examples include:

What does your perfect weekend look like?
What’s your favorite karaoke song?
What’s something about you I wouldn’t know from your profile?

Are there any more features that Bumble is launching?

The Bumble spokesperson said along with “Opening Moves” the app is releasing the following features:

Dating intentions: Users will be able to specify what type of relationship they are looking for.

The options include:

Long-term relationship
Life partner
fun, casual dates
intimacy without commitment
ethical non-monogamy
marriage
For You (previously called Best Bees): Will give users four curated profiles based on the users’ preferences and previous matches.

Profile commonalities: Do you like talking your dog for a walk or visiting a local bookstore for a new good read? Bumble will now show what you have in common with another user at the top of their profile. This feature will also include Spotify artists for all the music lovers out there.

Photo requirement: Users will now have to put four photos on their profiles in order to boost their chances of getting a match.

What if a Bumble user does not like the response their match gave to the ‘Opening Moves’ question?

The Bumble spokesperson explained that women have the option to reply or leave the person on read.

What is Empowering message of women make first move ?

As online dating becomes increasingly central to the way modern relationships are formed, Bumble hopes its latest updates will cement its position as the platform that puts women’s needs and comfort first in the search for romantic connections.

“Our core principle remains the same,” stresses Selby: “Empowering women in every connection and in every relationship.”

Overall, with its modern new look and enhanced functionality for making the first move, we reckon Bumble has a strong chance of continuing to stand out in an increasingly crowded dating app market – especially with this new branding under its belt.

Firstly, it’s been expertly executed and has a fresh, original, and youthful feel to it (not a bad feat for a 10-year-old app).

Secondly, because the driving central concept behind it (dating that puts women first) is so clear and powerful, it does most of the hard work all by itself.

Vivo V30e Review: A Mid-Range Smartphone with Premium Camera Prowess

Highlights

  • Vivo V30e features a 50MP Sony IMX882 primary and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.
  • It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.
  • Boasts a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Supports 5500mAh battery with 44W fast charging.

I recently got my hands on the Vivo V30e which has just launched today and I think that Vivo is on to something here.

Anticipation runs high with this device as it packs some promising specs and features, especially in the camera department,  that could shake up the mid-range segment.

In this review, I will dive deep into everything from its design and display to performance and battery life, to see if this mid-range spec-sheet maestro is a real-life champ as well.

Vivo V30e: Unboxing

Opening the box of the Vivo V30e reveals the smartphone itself, a 44W fast charger, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, a set of documentation, and a protective case.

Everything you need to get started is neatly packed, providing a straightforward and enjoyable unboxing experience.

Vivo is now one of the only high-end OEMs to provide a complete unboxing experience.

Vivo V30e: Design and Display
Vivo V30e: Design

The Vivo V30e boasts a sleek design with a weight of 188 grams and a thin profile of just 7.75 mm.

It comes in Velvet Red and Silk Blue, both of which have a premium feel thanks to the mineral glass back.

I actually have the latter of the two and let me tell you that Vivo’s elegance is unmatched in smartphone design.

The phone feels sturdy and robust in hand, though the splash-proof IP64 rating might leave some wanting more robust water resistance.

Also, I would’ve liked to see some stereo speakers on offer seeing that nearly everyone in the segment has it.

Vivo V30e: Design and Display
Vivo V30e:  Display

The display is also a standout feature, with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen offering a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels.

The bezel-less design with a punch-hole display achieves a 90.33% screen-to-body ratio, providing an immersive viewing experience.

However, the brightness under direct sunlight could be better, despite the vibrant colour output and sharpness provided by the 388 ppi density.

Vivo claims of a 1,300nits peak brightness but that perhaps only shows up when viewing HDR content.

Nonetheless, the gentle curves on the sides reduce the presence of bezels and expand the viewing field.

Vivo V30e: Cameras

Vivo V30e: Cameras
Vivo V30e: Cameras

Vivo V30e’s photography capabilities are powered by a dual rear camera setup featuring a 50 MP Sony IMX882 primary wide-angle camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide angle camera.

The images captured are crisp with saturated colours, and the camera performs exceptionally in good lighting conditions, as expected.

The phone also supports Dual Video recording, enhancing content creation flexibility.

There are several modes for users to try but most like me will be casual users opting for the standard point-and-shoot experience.

It’s a good thing that the camera can do that quite effectively.

The 8MP ultra-wide, like any other mid-range offering, is decent when used in plenty of light.

On the downside, low-light performance could improve, and the ultra-wide camera tends to lose some detail at the edges.

I am impressed with the 50 MP front camera that also packs in an autofocus feature, making it great for selfies with good detail and colour accuracy, though some might find the skin smoothing effect a bit aggressive.

The Vivo V30e packs a well-rounded camera experience which has some shortfalls, but nothing to dissuade you from snapping images.

Vivo V30e: Performance

Under the hood, the Vivo V30e is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor and 8 GB of RAM.

This setup handles everyday tasks with ease and supports decent gaming performance.

There’s also 256GB of internal storage that should take care any long-terms usage you have in mind.

However, intensive applications may not run as smoothly, and some may notice minor lags with more demanding games.

That is to be expected, however, given the nature of the chipset.

Vivo V30e: Performance and Features
Vivo V30e: Features

It doesn’t exactly endear to heavy-duty users but then again that is not the phone’s target demographic.

Benchmarks and throttling tests do not raise any red flags on the handset.

As for the features, of course, 5G is a big part of the handset.

The single bottom-firing speaker doesn’t exactly set high standards although I do like the fingerprint sensor’s fast response.

Vivo V30e: Software and Battery Life
Vivo V30e: Software and Battery Life

The Vivo V30e runs on Android v14 with Vivo’s custom Funtouch OS, providing a user-friendly interface with ample customization options.

The software is generally smooth, though occasional bloatware could detract from the experience.

That is to be expected from Chinese OEMs but I think Vivo can be relied upon more than the others for software longevity.

Finally, there is the battery life which is a significant plus, thanks to the 5500 mAh battery supporting 44W fast charging.

It comfortably lasts a full day with moderate to heavy use, and the fast charging can quickly replenish the battery, though some might miss the absence of wireless charging.

Vivo V30e: Final Verdict

Vivo V30e: Final Verdict
Vivo V30e: Final Verdict

The Vivo V30e is a well-crafted mid-range smartphone that right kicks off a premium design with solid performance, particularly shining in its camera capabilities.

With a 6.78-inch AMOLED display and robust battery life supported by 44W fast charging, it caters well to everyday needs and moderate use.

While it excels in many areas typical of a mid-range phone, it slightly falters under heavy application loads and lacks stereo speakers, which are becoming common in this segment.

Nonetheless, I think the Vivo V30e makes itself known as a strong contender for anyone seeking a reliable smartphone with a strong focus on photography and design, offered at a competitive price point.

Segment-leading 50MP Sony IMX882 OIS main camera
50MP EYE AF selfie camera

vivo, the innovative global smartphone brand, today launched its newest addition to the V-series lineup in India – the vivo V30e, which is India’s slimmest smartphone with a 5500mAh battery.

The device also features a segment-leading 50MP Sony IMX882 OIS main camera, Studio Quality Aura Light, and 4K video recording capabilities for both front and rear cameras.

The V30e features a refined design aesthetic with an ultra-slim 3D-curved display for an improved in-hand feel.

It is available in two colors, Velvet Red and Silk Blue, enhancing the smartphone’s luxurious design.

How is the design of Vivo V30e?

Luxe Design with an Ultra-Slim 3D Curve Display

Building on vivo’s design legacy, the vivo V30e offers a great combination of colors, materials, and finish to create a distinct luxurious design for this segment. The striking gem-cut camera module exudes style and sophistication.

The overall design of the phone, which includes a 6.78-inch ultra-slim 3D curved display, a screen-to-body ratio of 93.3%, and a 190-gram weight results in a very light, but secure, in-hand feel. At 7.65 mm, it is the slimmest phone to feature a 5500mAh battery.

The luxury-inspired colors—Velvet Red and Silk Blue—further add to the smartphone’s appeal.

How are the camera capabilities of Vivo V30e?

The Portrait Powerhouse

The vivo V30e’s camera module is headlined by a 50MP OIS Sony IMX 882 sensor – making it a portrait powerhouse.

The new sensor’s light sensitivity is improved by 30% over its predecessor. This light sensitivity is further improved with the help of OIS (10,000 stabilization movements per second), further increasing the level of light intake by six times, compared to a camera module without OIS.

Combining this with a 1.6 μm pixel size with 4-in-1 pixel binning – the camera system delivers stunning results during day or night.

To further enhance portraits in low light, the phone features an upgraded Studio Quality Smart Aura Light, which provides a light output area that is nine times larger than a regular smartphone flash.

It can adjust its brightness and color temperature based on the surrounding ambient light varying from 1000 Kelvin to 9000+ Kelvin. This results in great-looking portraits in challenging lighting conditions.

The main camera can also double up as a 50mm prime-focal length portrait lens which deploys a lossless-2x zoom-in.

Additionally, vivo’s proprietary new HD portrait algorithm results in clearer portraits with better texture. With its finely tuned portrait algorithm and natural bokeh effect, the camera is capable of producing portraits that can closely resemble DSLR cameras.

The vivo V30e also houses a 50MP Eye Autofocus Selfie camera that produces poster-quality photographs with details that are sharp and clear.

The ultra-high pixel count ensures the images delivered are crisp even after zooming in. It is also equipped with Eye autofocus and upgraded focusing algorithms, to ensure that your all-important selfies are never out of focus.

It also offers a host of other features including a Color Adaptive Border, which adds another layer of personalization for images, 4k recording in front and rear cameras, Ultra-stable video, and a dedicated Vlog Movie Creator Mode to simplify every stage of vlog production.

How is the performance & battery life of Vivo V30e?

Super Smooth Performance and Large Battery Life

vivo V30e comes equipped with the largest battery ever in a V-series product, housing a 5500mAh battery coupled with 44W Flash Charge, delivering a stress-free and dependable battery backup.

vivo’s software and hardware enhancements ensure that the V30e offers double the industry standard battery lifespan, providing a healthy battery for up to four years.

The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon® 6 Gen 1 (4 nm) Processor that offers a seamless multitasking experience.

The 5G chipset will also provide a faster network experience thanks to the 5G network aggregation.

It further gets up to 12GB extended RAM on the back of vivo’s innovative memory management technology, utilizing unused ROM space as extra RAM.

The smartphone runs on Fun Touch OS 14 which combines vivo’s design-driven values with exciting personalization options, advanced privacy features, and enhanced security protection.

The V30e comes with a software promise of 3 generations of Android updates and 4 years of security updates.

Aligned with the government’s Make in India vision, all V30e devices will be manufactured at vivo’s Greater Noida facility, which employs around 10,000 men and women, ensuring all vivo devices sold in India are made by fellow Indians.

WhatsApp is expanding its community tools with a new way for users to organize events within group chats.

Announced on Wednesday, the Facebook-owned messaging app is introducing an event creation feature that allows anyone in a group to set up an event that others can RSVP to.

Mark Zuckerberg, announced the news on his WhatsApp Channel, saying “If you’re in a WhatsApp Community, you can now create events in your groups and reply to admin announcements. Over the next few months more groups will be able to create events.”

As explained by WhatsApp: “With events it’s now easier for people to plan their get togethers directly in WhatsApp, whether it’s setting up a virtual meeting or birthday dinner. Anyone can create an event and others can respond so the whole group knows who is coming.”

In a blog post, WhatsApp stated: Since launching Communities, it’s been exciting to see how people with common interests – neighborhoods, school associations, hobbyists and more – use the feature to keep groups that belong together connected and organized. To help bring communities even closer together, we’re introducing a new way for people to organize events on WhatsApp, and launching organized replies to Announcement Groups so members can respond to important updates from admins.

Once an event is created, it will appear on the group’s info page and those who plan to attend will receive a notification as the event date approaches.

This new event planning capability is initially rolling out to groups within WhatsApp’s Communities feature, with a broader release to all groups coming in the months ahead.

In addition to event planning, WhatsApp is also enabling replies in Announcement Groups within Communities.

Administrators can now send updates that community members can respond to, though notifications for these replies will be muted by default to prevent disruptions.

Restricting Spam Accounts

WhatsApp is testing a new account restriction feature designed to combat abuse and spam

“By restricting accounts rather than outright banning them, WhatsApp aims to offer users an opportunity to correct their behaviour without causing them to lose access to their data entirely. By imposing a temporary restriction, WhatsApp can address problematic behaviour without permanently banning users from using WhatsApp, minimising significant disruption to the messaging experience,” mentions the report.

“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.10.5 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on an account restriction feature,” WABetaInfo reported.

Alongside these Community updates, WhatsApp is testing a new account restriction feature designed to combat abuse and spam.

As discovered by the sleuths at WABetaInfo, some accounts exhibiting suspicious behaviour may temporarily lose the ability to initiate new chats as a penalty.

Those with restricted accounts will see a notification when attempting to message someone new, informing them that their account privileges have been limited due to violations of WhatsApp’s terms of service.

The restriction is meant as an alternative to outright banning accounts, which can lead to data loss.

By keeping restricted users on the platform in a limited capacity, WhatsApp hopes to curb abusive activities while still allowing them to receive messages from existing chats.

It remains to be seen how broadly this restriction system will be implemented.
