WhatsApp is apparently working on introducing a few additional features to both the regular and business versions of the app. In a future upgrade, the Meta-owned instant messaging service will allow users to build Communities. Group admins will have more control over the new Communities feature, and they will be able to join groups together. Users will be able to set a cover photo for their profile in a future WhatsApp Business update, although the capability may not be available for regular WhatsApp accounts.

WABetaInfo, a site that follows WhatsApp’s progress, has provided an image of the app’s UI that illustrates how WhatsApp Communities would be launched when the feature is released to users. Communities, as shown in the screenshot, will bring all of an admin’s groups together in one area, allowing users to manage them more conveniently. Furthermore, Communities will allow WhatsApp users to communicate with all of their contacts at once.

“It will be possible to reach everyone at once by sending messages to all participants of those groups linked to the community,” the blog site wrote in a post. A similar interface is being developed for WhatsApp’s Android-based app as well.

Another report by WABetaInfo states that WhatsApp Business is getting a new feature that will allow users to upload a cover photo to their profile, similar to Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn. The functionality is presently being developed and may take some time to implement. Regular WhatsApp users, however, may not be able to use the feature, according to the report.

WhatsApp is also working on a feature called Cover Story, which is similar to Communities. Users will be able to choose a cover photo for their profiles with this functionality. According to sources, the corporation intends to add a camera button to the Business Settings. “When other people (including standard WhatsApp user accounts) visit your business profile, they will be able to see your cover photo,” the blog site added. This feature is being developed for WhatsApp’s Android and iOS-based business apps.
