Apple’s 20th Anniversary iPhone Pro Models Could Get Bigger Displays and Borderless Design

0
Apple's 20th Anniversary iPhone

Highlights

  • Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone Pro models are tipped to feature larger displays like around 6.4″ for iPhone 20 Pro and nearly 7″ for iPhone 20 Pro Max.
  • The lineup is expected to debut a borderless design with curved edges on all four sides and giving a nearly bezel‑free viewing experience.
  • Other major upgrades could include under‑display Face ID, a custom Apple image sensor, haptic buttons, A21 chipset, higher‑bandwidth memory and a pure silicon battery.

Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone lineup could arrive with larger displays than the current Pro models. The latest information suggests the company is testing bigger display panels for its future high-end iPhones while also working on a redesigned borderless look with curved edges on all sides. Here are more details.

Larger Displays for Next’s Year’s iPhones?

According to a post shared on Weibo by the tipster known as “Digital Chat Station,” Apple is currently testing two new display panels for its upcoming anniversary iPhone series.

One of the prototype panels measures around 6.4 inches and is said to have a chance of being used in the iPhone 20 Pro. The second panel is reportedly close to 7 inches and is expected to be intended for the larger iPhone 20 Pro Max, matching an earlier report about the device.

The leak further claims that Apple plans to increase the display sizes across the entire 20th anniversary iPhone lineup while keeping the same aspect ratio as existing models. The devices are also said to feature an entirely new borderless design with curved edges on all four sides.

This aligns with previous reports suggesting that the anniversary iPhones could offer an edge-to-edge display with curved glass on every side, delivering a nearly bezel-free viewing experience.

Apart from the larger displays and refreshed design, Apple’s anniversary iPhone models are expected to introduce several major hardware upgrades. These reportedly include under-display Face ID technology, a custom-designed Apple image sensor, haptic buttons, the A21 chipset, higher-bandwidth memory, and a pure silicon battery.

If the information turns out to be accurate, the 6.4-inch display on the iPhone 20 Pro would be a slight increase over the 6.3-inch screens found on the current iPhone 17 Pro and the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, which is not expected to receive a display size upgrade this year.

Apple last increased the screen sizes of its Pro models with the iPhone 16 Pro series in 2024. This was when the iPhone 16 Pro grew from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max expanded from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches.

Redmi has officially unveiled a special Redmi K100 Pro variant that features a glow-in-the-dark rear panel. Revealed via multiple official posts on Weibo, the unique design not only changes its appearance in different lighting conditions but also allows users to create illuminated patterns.

The newly introduced Glowing Firefly colour option comes with a fluorescent green finish that transforms after being exposed to light. Redmi says it has placed a special luminescent material between the phone’s glass back and the green ink layer, allowing the rear panel to function as a “light painting canvas.”

After absorbing light from a flashlight or another bright light source, the back panel glows in the dark and enables users to draw temporary glowing patterns on the phone. In normal lighting, the handset appears with a translucent green finish, while the glow effect becomes visible in darker environments.

To complete the design, Redmi has colour-matched the metal frame and camera module with the same green shade.

Besides the Glowing Firefly version, the smartphone will also be available in a Silver colour option.

Poco F9 Ultra, Poco F9 Pro and Poco X8 5G Receive

Highlights

  • Poco F9 Ultra, F9 Pro and X8 5G received Indonesia SDPPI approval, signalling imminent launch.
  • F9 Pro/Ultra previously spotted in IMEI and IMDA databases; expected in EEA, Turkey, Indonesia, Taiwan, Russia, Japan, but unlikely in India.
  • Poco X8 5G confirmed via SDPPI, NBTC, IMDA and is tipped to be a rebranded Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G.

Poco appears to be preparing for the global launch of several new smartphones. The Poco F9 Ultra, Poco F9 Pro and Poco X8 5G have now been certified by Indonesia’s SDPPI authority, hinting that their official debut could be getting closer. While the latest certification does not reveal any hardware specifications, it confirms the model numbers of all three upcoming devices.

According to the latest details shared by tipster Anvin @ZionsAnvin on X, Indonesia’s SDPPI certification platform has approved three upcoming Poco smartphones. The Poco F9 Ultra has been listed with model number 26077PC53G, while the Poco F9 Pro carries the model number 2607APCA5G.

The Poco X8 5G has also appeared on the certification website with model number 2607DPC18G.

All three smartphones received SDPPI certification on August 3, 2026.

The certification itself does not disclose any specifications or additional details. However, such approvals usually indicate that the devices are moving closer to their official launch.

Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Previously Spotted in Multiple Databases

The latest certification follows earlier reports that revealed the Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Ultra in the GSMA IMEI database. Those listings confirmed the same model numbers and suggested that both smartphones are being prepared for global markets.

According to previous reports, the two devices are expected to launch in regions including the EEA, Turkey, Indonesia, Taiwan, Russia, and Japan. Although India remains one of Poco’s biggest smartphone markets, earlier leaks suggest that the Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Ultra are unlikely to be launched in the country.

Before the latest SDPPI approval, both models had also received certification from Singapore’s IMDA platform. Their appearance on certification websites has come earlier than expected, especially considering that the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra were first spotted on IMDA and Thailand’s NBTC database in October before making their official debut in November.

The latest SDPPI certification also confirms the existence of the Poco X8 5G, a smartphone that many believed had been cancelled after the launch of the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max earlier this year.

Evidence of the handset was previously discovered in Xiaomi’s HyperOS source code by X user Kacper Skryzpek. The code reportedly revealed that the Poco X8 would feature a 50-megapixel primary camera along with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The smartphone is also expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G, which recently debuted in China.

Earlier, the Poco X8 also appeared on Thailand’s NBTC certification platform with the same 2607DPC18G model number. The listing confirmed support for GSM, WCDMA, LTE, and NR networks, indicating 5G connectivity. It also revealed that the handset is manufactured in China.

The smartphone has additionally been certified by Singapore’s IMDA, where its listing confirmed support for 5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC.
