The Vivo X90 series launch date in India is April 26th, and Flipkart has now confirmed the availability of the new smartphones on its platform. Other than Flipkart, the Vivo X90 is expected to also sell through the company’s online store.

The flagship Vivo X90 series, which has already debuted in China and in some markets internationally, features three phones in total — Vivo X90, Vivo X90 Pro, and Vivo X90 Pro+.

The company, however, hasn’t confirmed if all three models are arriving in India as well. The Flipkart teaser also doesn’t shed any light on this information. There are speculations though that only the Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro will launch in India since the Vivo X90 Pro+ is available only in China.

Vivo X90 series

For those interested, the Vivo X90 series India launch is scheduled to take place at 12 noon on April 26.

Vivo has been teasing the Vivo X90 series India launch for the last few days. The company recently revealed that the Vivo X90 series will launch on April 26 in the country. Ahead of the launch, the Vivo X90 series micro-site has gone live on the e-commerce portal Flipkart. This confirms that the Vivo X90 series will be sold exclusively via Flipkart in India.

The Vivo X90 series launch micro-site on Flipkart doesn’t reveal the monikers of the smartphones that will be launched on April 26. However, the micro-site mentioned Vivo X90 Series, so the company will surely launch more than one X90 series smartphone in the country. To recall, the Vivo X90 series was launched back in November in the Chinese market and was introduced in February in global markets.

The Vivo X90 Pro sports a 50MP Sony IMX 989 sensor with a 1-inch sensor size and OIS support. The smartphone also gets a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor which adds ultra-wide-angle functionality. It also has a 50MP Sony IMX758 sensor with 2x optical zoom.

The Vivo X90 series smartphones are equipped with 32MP front selfie shooters. The Vivo X90 has a 4810mAh battery unit. Whereas, the X90 Pro has a 4870mAh battery. These devices support 120W fast charging. Vivo X90 Pro also supports up to 50W wireless charging.

The Vivo X90 series smartphones boot the latest version of Android, that is Android 13. On the security front, these devices feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Vivo X90 series smartphones also pack stereo speaker setup but lack the 3.5mm audio jack. The Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro weigh 200 grams and 215 grams respectively.

2) What is Vivo X90 & Vivo X90 Pro prices & availability?

Ans) The Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro have been officially launched in Malaysia today in a single storage configuration of 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM each. The vanilla X90 is priced at MYR 3,699 (approx. Rs 70,000) while the X90 Pro costs MYR 4,999 (approx. 95,000).

As for the colour options, the standard X90 comes in Breeze Blue and Asteroid Black, and the X90 Pro in a single Legend Black vegan leather option.3 Early buyers of the devices can grab a free Vivo TWS Air along with a Protection Plus plan that includes 1 year of extended phone warranty, 1 year of screen crack protection, and 1 year of battery warranty.
Indian pricing of the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro will be revealed at a later date when the handsets are officially unveiled in the country.

3) Vivo is a company from which country?

Ans) Dongguan, China

4) What is the price of Vivo X90 and X90 Pro?

Ans) The cost will be between Rs 69,221 and Rs 99,162.

5) How is the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro camera?

Ans) The Vivo X90 will have three cameras placed up at the back. A 12MP ultrawide lens and a 12MP portrait sensor will be used in addition to the 50MP core sensor. The Vivo X90 Pro, on the other hand, has a 50 MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultrawide sensor.

6) How is the Vivo X90 Pro battery?

Ans) The X90 Pro has a 4,780-mAh battery, which can be replenished with a bundled 120-watt charger or a 50-watt wireless charger (sold separetly). The phone offers two charging modes, fast charging and balanced mode. Vivo says the X90 Pro can be charged to 50% in 8 minutes and 10 seconds using the former mode. Balanced mode is apparently ideal for everyday charging, and takes 29 minutes to revitalize the battery to a full charge, according to Vivo.

7) What is the X90 Pro’s odd design choice on the back?

Ans) For a phone in 2023, the X90 Pro’s design appears relatively ordinary from the front. The rectangular display has curved edges and features a a punch-hole cutout in the center housing the selfie camera. But flip it over, and you’ll see a narrow bar running through the width of the chassis (below the camera module).

No, it’s not a camera bar as seen on Google’s Pixel 7 lineup, it’s simply a flat bar emblazoned with the words “Xtreme Imagination” running across the rear of the phone.
Frankly, it makes for a bizarre choice that undermines the overall design of an otherwise sleek phone. Above this perplexing bar, is the circular camera bump housing three lenses. There’s also bold vivo branding at the bottom.

8) What is the X90 Pro’s Zeiss lenses?

Ans) Vivo says this phone gives you a piece of pro photography equipment in your pocket. That’s why it makes sense that the company has flexed its camera partnership with Zeiss, a 176-year old company considered a pioneer in optical photography. There are three cameras on the X90 Pro: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel portrait camera and a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens.

9) What are the New Vivo X90 Pro features?

Ans) Vivo changed an array of features from the phone’s predecessor, the V80 Pro. Apart from swapping out the chip from Qualcomm to a Mediatek one, it ditched the ultrasonic fingerprint reader, telephoto camera and reduced display resolution. The 3D Sonic Max feature was one that set the X80 Pro apart from a number of Android flagships, so it’s disappointing to see it go.

HIGHLIGHTS

* Apple may discontinue some older-generation iPhones after iPhone 15 series launch.
* The company traditionally discontinues a number of iPhones after launching the next gen lineup.
* The iPhone 15 series is expected to be launched in the second half of 2023.
* Apple may scrap iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max this year.
* Additionally, it may stop selling iPhone 11 and iPhone 12.
* That leaves us with iPhone 13, iPhone SE (2022), iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus.

As tech giant Apple is gearing toward the new generation of iPhones, it is speculated that the company might discontinue some older generation iPhones after the launch of the iPhone 15 series. Every year, Apple gets rid of some of its older models to make room for the new iPhones.

This time, it might be the Pro models from the iPhone 14 series, along with some other older-generation iPhones. Apple is likely to discontinue some of its existing smartphones after launching iPhone 15 series. There is no official announcement on the same, but every year the company discontinued old iPhones after the launch of the new devices.

Apple IPhone Updates

Notably, the iPhone 15 smartphone series are expected to have four models, such as iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra).
Earlier, the company discontinued iPhone 11 and the iPhone 12 mini after the launch of the iPhone 14 series last year, which also means that there is a high chance that it might stop selling some of its old devices or come up with discounts on the devices.

According to a new report by Tom’s Guide, the Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to discontinue iPhone 12, iPhone 13 mini, 14 Pro Max, and the iPhone 14 Plus. Again, the company has not shared anything yet, which means we have to wait until September to know more about the discontinued devices.

To those unaware, currently, the company is selling eight models such as iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12, and the iPhone SE.

Take a look at it.

List of iPhones that Apple might discontinue

List of iPhones that Apple discontinue

Apple is currently selling the iPhone 14 lineup, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, the iPhone 12, and the iPhone SE (2022). However, after the iPhone 15 series comes out, it is speculated that Apple might discontinue the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the iPhone 12, and the iPhone 13 mini indicating that we will be left with the iPhone 13, the iPhone SE (2022), the vanilla iPhone 14, and the iPhone 14 Plus.

Last year, after the launch of the iPhone 14 lineup, the company discontinued the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 11 in several markets, including India.

It was surprising to many users when Apple discontinued the Pro models last year. This was unexpected because Apple usually only discontinues older generation Pro models and keeps the latest generation “Pro” iPhones in its lineup.

iPhone 15 Series Launch

Apple iPhone 15

Apple is gearing up to unveil the iPhone 15 in the month of September or October (precisely in the second half of 2023), which will include the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which will be launched as iPhone 15 Ultra.

It is also speculated that the company is planning to bring several new features, including Dynamic Island to all the models, revamped design and a lot more, in the upcoming series. You can read about the developments of the iPhone 15 series here.

Faqs on Apple IPhone Updates

1) What has been the Apple Sales In India?

Ans) Meanwhile, the company has managed to hit $6 billion in sales in India by the end of March 2023, according to a Bloomberg report. This means there is a 50 percent jump in the overall revenue, as Apple reported $ 4.1 billion in March 2022 end. This clearly shows that Apple has increased its share in the premium market in India.

Apart from that, the company is all set to launch two stores in Mumbai on April 18th and in Delhi on the 20th.

The move is expected to help Apple to increase its sales in the country. It is worth noting that Apple saw huge demand for iPhones and iPads from India during the pandemic. This could be a reason why Apple is focusing on the Indian market.

2) Will Apple Launch Mixed-Reality Headset Soon?

Ans) Meanwhile, the company is all set to bring or launch the first mixed-reality headset in June at its WWDC 2023 event. In addition, the company might showcase new Macs along with Socs. Plus, the tech giant is likely to bring iOS 17, and iPadOS 17, and the Watch
OS UI is likely to receive a new makeover.

3) What are the phones which are being discontinued after iPhone 15 launch?

Ans) The iPhone 15 series official launch is months away, but we are getting new information through leaks almost every week. Similar to last year’s lineup, the new series will likely include four models – the vanilla iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra). However, like every year, new iPhones mean some old iPhones will be discounted. A new report by Tom’s Guide suggests that Apple might discontinue at least four phones following the launch.

Currently, Apple officially sells the iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE (2022). The new report suggests that Apple might scrap iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 mini after the iPhone 15 series launch. That leaves us with iPhone 13, iPhone SE (2022), iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus.

The speculation looks mostly accurate since Apple adopted a similar strategy following the launch of the iPhone 14 series last year. The company ditched the old-gen Pro models to boost the sales of new ones. It also ditched iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 mini.

Otherwise, the older existing models would receive a price cut of up to $100. In India, Apple may consider slashing the price by Rs 10,000. Here is how iPhones (for the base 128GB storage) are currently priced: -iPhone 14: Rs 79,900
-iPhone 14 Plus: Rs 89,900
-iPhone 14 Pro: Rs 1,29,900
-iPhone SE: Rs 49,900
-iPhone 13: Rs 69,900
-iPhone 12: Rs 59,900 (64GB)

Meanwhile, Apple is expected to launch its first mixed-reality headset at the upcoming WWDC 2023 event on June 5. According to Apple analyst and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will introduce the device at WWDC 2023, though the actual sale may take place at the end of the year. Gurman has also added that the upcoming WWDC would see one of its biggest launches. Apple will reportedly showcase new Macs with its proprietary SoCs.

How you switch off your iPhone may change with iPhone 15 Pro models: ‘Action’ Button to Replace Role of Volume Buttons When Performing a Power Off/Force Restart

0
iPhone 15 series

HIGHLIGHTS

* The iPhone 15 series is expected to see a change in design.
* The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max/ Ultra will likely feature an ‘Action’ button.
* The button will be used to click pictures, power off or force restart the device.

Tech giant Apple is expected to bring some noticeable changes in the upcoming iPhone 15 series. It is still unconfirmed what changes we might see in the upcoming series, but what we know is that there might be a new “Action” button on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max/ Ultra.

According to a tipster, the “Action” button in upcoming Pro models will be used to click pictures, power off or force restart the device.

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will introduce a new button press combination to power off and force restart the devices, according to an anonymous source who claims to be privy to details about the smartphones ahead of launch.

iPhone 15 series

On newer iPhone models such as the iPhone 14, users currently power off their device by simultaneously pressing the Side button and either volume buttons, while the same buttons are used in another combination to perform a hard reset.

However, with the mute switch expected to be dropped in favor of a potentially customizable “Action” button, this latter new button will take on the role of the volume buttons when powering off/resetting the iPhone 15 Pro models, according to the leaker who goes by the Twitter alias @analyst941.

iPhone 15 series

“The volume up and power button will no longer be used to power off the device, or ‘force-restart’ it,” claimed the leaker in a tweet.

“The sequence remains, but the combination will be changed to action and power button.” In a follow-up tweet, the leaker also claimed that the “Action” button will replace the volume up button for taking photos in the Camera app, with force-sensitivity enabling a light press to auto-focus the camera, a hard press to take a picture, and a hard/long press to record video.

At this point, it’s important to take the second claim about Force Touch sensitive functions with a pinch of salt. Several other sources have indicated that Apple has encountered technical issues with capacitive buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro models and will now delay them for a later version of the iPhone.

iPhone 15 series

For what it’s worth, @analyst941, who has been the source of previously accurate pre-launch information, disputes this claim and believes they are still coming to the iPhone 15 Pro.

A unified volume button was also a design planned for solid-state technology, but Apple is said to be opting to stick with the current design now that solid-state buttons have been delayed.

For more on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, we have a dedicated iPhone 15 Pro roundup that aggregates everything we’ve heard so far, and we also have a separate iPhone 15 roundup that gives a better idea of the differences between the Pro and non-Pro models.

‘Action’ button on the iPhone 15 Pro models

iPhone 15 series

The latest iPhone models, including the iPhone 14, can be powered off by pressing the Side button and either volume buttons at the same time. To perform a force reset, users need to use a different combination of the same buttons. The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models may no longer have a mute switch, as it is rumoured to be replaced by a customisable “Action” button. In this case, the new button will serve as the volume button when turning off or resetting the device.

What more will the iPhone 15 ‘Action’ button do?

iPhone 15 series

In a subsequent tweet, the tipster said that the “Action” button will replace the volume up button in the Camera app for capturing images, with force-sensitivity allowing a light press to auto-focus the camera, a hard push to snap a picture, and a hard/long press to record video.

Action button use in Camera

* Light press: auto-focuses the camera
* Hard press: captures photo
* Hard, Long-hold press: captures/records video

However, multiple sources in the past said that the tech giant has found technical challenges with the capacitive buttons on the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models and will now delay them until a later edition of the iPhone.

iPhone 15 series

A recent report also indicated that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max/ Ultra would have conventional buttons, and the solid-state idea was scrapped at the last minute. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 15 Pro is currently undergoing Engineer Validation Test (EVT) and may still go through design changes before its final release.

There are various rumours circulating about the upcoming iPhone models. However, the company will reveal the new features of the iPhone 15 series only upon its release in the second half of this year. The series will consist of four models – iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, likely to be renamed iPhone 15 Ultra.

Ans) Apple first created a user-programmable Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. A lot of us said at the time that we’d love to see one on the iPhone, and a report last month seemed to indicate that we’d be getting our wish.

The leaker also refers to the new mute button as an “action” button. This suggests that it will be user-programmable, like the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. Many people keep their iPhones muted at all times, relying on vibrations for alerts, so may wish to use the button for something else.

This went hand-in-hand with expectations that Apple was going to replace both the volume buttons and mute switch with capacitive buttons. However, subsequent reports suggested that Apple ran into production issues with this, and has now decided to stick to mechanical buttons for now.

Haitong Tech analyst Jeff Pu has heard from sources familiar with Apple’s supply chain that the company may switch back to the classic volume button design on the iPhone 15 Pro since the new solution would have a much more complex design […] Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has just corroborated Jeff Pu’s report.

2) What is Uncertainty about the Action button?

Ans) All of which left us wondering how this might affect the planned Action button. My view at the time was that if Apple had to backtrack on the capacitive buttons, then the most likely fallback was to stick to the existing setup for now.

If Apple does abandon the solid-state plans, what about the Action button? Does it mean that Apple would revert to the existing setup, including the mute switch? Or is there still the possibility of replacing it with a mechanical Action button?

That would be my hope – but not, sadly, my belief. While I can accept that we’re still early enough for Apple to postpone a decision on whether or not to go ahead with a planned change, I’d very much expect the fallback position to be “keep things as they are.”

3) Leaker claims it’s going ahead, with camera control?

Ans) However, @analyst941 seems to think Apple is going ahead with the iPhone 15 Pro Action button, and has described how it can be used to control the camera.

Within the camera app, the action button (formally; mute switch) will replace the volume up button for taking a photo. Action button use in Camera:

Light press: auto-focuses the camera
Hard press: captures photo
Hard, Long-hold press: captures/records video
However, they also say this: If you missed it, or don’t understand how the capacitive button can be “light” or “hard” pressed: again, the capacitive buttons (incl. action) will be Force-sensitive.

Which suggests that, unlike Jeff Pu and Ming-Chi Kuo, they think Apple is still going ahead with the plans for capacitive buttons.

The leaker also says that an Action and Power button combo will replace Volume Up and Power for the power-off/restart menu.

Faqs on Vivo X 90

1) What are Vivo X90 and X90 Pro Expected Specifications?

Ans) The phones could feature a 6.78 inch AMOLED curved display. It will have a refresh rate of 120Hz. On the front, it will likely have a punch hole in the middle.

Under the hood, the X90 and X90 Pro could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 CPU. Plus, both offerings will boast a Vivo V2 chip.

The phones will likely have 8 GB and 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB of storage.

Vivo’s flagship handsets will likely run on FunTouch OS 13 based on Android 13. Vivo X90 is anticipated to come with a 4,810 battery and 120W charging.

The X90 Pro could have a 4,870mAh battery with 120W charging and 50W wireless charging support. Coming to optics, the X90 could have a 50MP primary lens with OIS, 12MP ultra-wide and 12MP telephoto lens on the back. The X90 Pro will have a 50MP primary lens and 50MP and 12MP secondary camera. Speaking of security, an in-display fingerprint reader is tipped on both phones.

The price bracket of the series tipped by Brar is 60 to 90 thousand. Pricebaba reports the launch date to be April 26th in India. According to the platform, the X90 and X90 Pro are available in global markets. On the other hand, the Vivo X90 Pro is only China-exclusive as of now.

As for the colour options, the standard X90 comes in Breeze Blue and Asteroid Black, and the X90 Pro in a single Legend Black vegan leather option. 3 Early buyers of the devices can grab a free Vivo TWS Air along with a Protection Plus plan that includes 1 year of extended phone warranty, 1 year of screen crack protection, and 1 year of battery warranty.

Realme 11 Pro Series

HIGHLIGHTS

* Realme 11 series is confirmed to launch in May.
* The Realme 11 Pro+ is expected to arrive with a 200MP primary camera.
* Realme 11 lineup should also debut in India as well.

Several new smartphones are expected to launch in May in China. The Vivo S17 series, Oppo Reno 10 lineup, and Honor 90 series are expected to break cover in May and become available for purchase during the 618 online shopping festival in June in the country.

Today, Realme released a poster to confirm that it will announce the Realme 11 series in May .

The poster does not reveal anything significant about the Realme 11 series. The round design that can be seen in the image suggests that the Realme 11 series will be equipped with a circular camera module. To recall, the Realme 11 Pro was recently seen with a round camera module in the images that surfaced through its TENAA certification.

After rumours and leaks, Realme has now officially confirmed the Realme 11 series will launch in China in May. While the poster image released by the brand doesn’t reveal much else about the hardware, we see a circular camera module.

Realme 11 Pro Series

This doesn’t come as a surprise considering the TENAA certification images recently revealed the Realme 11 Pro featuring a round camera module. The exact launch date of the phone hasn’t been revealed but there should be more teasers coming our way.

It is possible that Realme might introduce the Pro models first and then eventually go about the vanilla Realme 11 variants. The phones will also debut in India since they bagged the BIS certification.

Realme 11 Pro Series

Realme 11 Pro Series

The TENAA certification showed the Realme 11 and Realme 11 Pro+ would come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED FD+ display. There are chances the Pro models might come with a curved screen.

Both the devices are expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC coupled with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage. The phones are likely to boo Android 13 OS out of the box.

The Realme 11 and Realme 11 Pro+ could pack a 5000mAh battery and 67W fast charging support (33 on the vanilla Pro version). However, China’s 3C listing showed they would come with 100W and 67W charging speeds.

REALME 11 PRO

Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging and data sync. They could come with an in-display fingerprint sensor for security.

As for the cameras, the Realme 11 Pro is tipped to come with a 100MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary sensor. On the other hand, Realme 11 Pro+ is expected to arrive with a 200MP camera, an 8MP secondary lens and a 2MP tertiary sensor. We should learn more details about the phone going forward until then stick around.

FAQ’s on Realme 11 Series

1) What are the details of Realme 11 Pro 5G and Realme 11 Devices Listed on BIS Website?

Ans) Two new Realme devices have been listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website with RMX3771 and RMX3761 model numbers. The former model number belongs to the Realme 11 Pro 5G, going by the past record from the Bluetooth SIG certification listing. The RMX3761 model number could be the Realme 11 device.

However, there is no confirmation if the device will be 4G or 5G yet. Since the devices have already bagged the 3C certification, TENAA, and Bluetooth SIG website in addition to the BIS certification, we are expecting the device to be launched soon in India. However, there is no confirmation of the launch from the company yet.

Specification-wise, the standard 11 Pro 5G is said to come with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ screen with up to 12GB RAM and 1TB storage options. The phone is tipped to feature a large 4,780mAh battery and offer 67W fast charging. The Pro+ model in the Realme 11 lineup is likely to offer a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 200MP main camera, and 100W fast charging support. Both phones are expected to launch with Android 13 OS.

Currently, there is no information on the vanilla Realme 11 model. In a separate report, PriceBaba has reported that the Realme RMX3760 (likely Realem 11 series device) FCC documents. As per the report, the device will feature a 5,000mAh battery and 33W fast charging. We can expect the Realme 11 series to be launched in the second half of 2023.

2) When is Realme 11 phones coming to India?

Ans) Realme’s smartphone business relies chiefly on budget and mid-range smartphones. The brand also has several flagships planned but they don’t quite get the same consumer attention as the more affordable offerings. The Chinese company appears to be ready to soon launch new smartphones under the Realme 11 series. The lineup should include Realme 11 Pro+, Realme 11 Pro, and likely a standard Realme 11.

Today, the Pro model along with the vanilla Realme 11 has bagged Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification with model numbers RMX3771 and RMX3761. The listing did not reveal anything interesting about the two devices except confirming their India launch.

While the Realme 11 Pro has been spotted on many certification sites recently, there has been relatively little information available about the standard Realme 11 as it has appeared in fewer listings.

Reports suggest the Pro phone will get a 6.7-inch Full HD+ screen with up to 12GB RAM and 1TB onboard storage.

It is rumored to come equipped with a sizable 4,780mAh battery and a 67W fast charging capability. The device will likely debut with the Android 13 out of the box. The handset’s camera specifications and chipset remains unknown at this time but more details are expected to surface in the near future.

OPPO rollable phone design with ‘invisible’ cameras leaked via patent image filings

0
OPPO rollable phone

HIGHLIGHTS

* OPPO files the rollable phone’s design patent at China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA)
* The patent images suggest the phone might come with an in-screen camera sensor.
* The rollable phone might come with a design that might expand in both directions.

After launching the OPPO Find N2 and OPPO Find N2 Flip, the Chinese giant is reportedly working on something big this time. The company has started prepping a new rollable phone, according to a report by industry sources citing the patent site CNIPA.

Rollable technology is fascinating considering the actual form factor changes with just one tap. LG a while ago innovated the tech with a smart TV and a phone, while Motorola showcased a new rollable phone at MWC 2023 this year.

The patent listing shows the complete design of the OPPO’s rollable phone, which suggests there could be an in-display front camera sensor. Check out the complete details.

OPPO Rollable Phone

OPPO rollable phone

The OPPO rollable phone has a typical candy bar design from the outlook. You can see the rear camera module on the back and an LED flash. The volume rocker and power buttons are on the right spine.

The front of the phone is flat with square edges. We don’t see the front camera sensor, which means it could be placed within the screen. The Type-C port and speaker grilles can be found at the bottom.

Now coming to the point, the rollable phone will probably expand from the right edge but there are chances, the device rolls from both sides and the screen expands in two directions since the screen is seen coming out in both ways.

There will be a specific touchpoint or task, which when enabled will expand the screen. Since the design is still in the patent stage, we’re not sure whether there will be a commercial phone with the same design.

The OPPO rollable phone is listed on China’s certification site China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The patent was filed back in December 2021 and it was approved on April 14th this year.

Faqs on Oppo

1) OPPO Rollable Phone -Everything we know till now ?

Ans) Recently, Oppo launched its foldable phones Find N2 and Find N2 Flip in the global market including India. At the same time, the company has gone a step ahead and started preparing for its rollable phone. The OPPO Rollable Phone has been listed on the Chinese patent site CNIPA and it looks quite stylish. Talking about the design of this rollable rollable phone of Oppo, initially it looks like a simple bar phone.

At the same time, you will not even see the rear camera in the back panel. When the phone is rolled, the triple rear camera emerges from the back side. Along with this, the display of the phone also becomes bigger. The most important thing can be said that with the screen being bigger than the front, the camera comes out openly from the back. By the way the camera is in the cover only. On the other hand, if you look at the front, the camera is not visible anywhere on the screen. In such a situation, we can expect that there will be an invisible selfie camera in the front as well.

Looking at the back panel of the phone, it can be guessed that this device rolls from both sides and the screen comes out big from both sides. But the best thing about this design is that the back panel is not separating directly from both sides, rather the company has tried to give a little new style to it, which makes it special. As far as ports and hardware buttons are concerned, it can be clearly seen that the volume rocker and power button are given on the side panel. At the bottom, you see the loudspeaker grill and the USB Type-C port.

This rollable phone of Oppo has been listed on China’s certification site China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). Although the patent for this was filed in December 2021, it has been approved on 14 April. After this it can be expected that the company can start more work on this design. The patent clearly states that this drawing patent filed by Oppo is for a mobile phone and the focus is on the design of the phone.

15-Inch MacBook Air With M2-Like Chip Spotted in Developer Logs: May Launch at WWDC 2023 in June with New Apple MacBook Models & Mixed Reality Headset

0
WWDC event 2023

HIGHLIGHTS

* Apple is likely planning to launch several new products at the WWDC event.
* The WWDC event 2023 will begin on June 5th and will end on June 9th.
* The company might unveil a new 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2-like chip at the event.

Tech giant Apple is planning to unveil a slew of products, such as iOS 17, and a mixed-reality headset, at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will take place from June 5th to June 9th, 2023.

However, a new Bloomberg report indicates that the upcoming event might also see the launch of a 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2-like chip. Developer logs show that Apple has started to test the new laptops with third-party apps from the App Store to make sure they work well together.

With less than two months two go until WWDC, the rumors keep pouring in. After hearing about iOS 17 last week, we now have some details on the hardware Apple plans to bring to the big show, and the anticipated AR headset might have some supporting acts.

WWDC event 2023

According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, Apple has several new MacBooks in the pipeline, “at least some” of which will be announced during the June 5 WWDC keynote. Gurman doesn’t share much in the way of specifics, other than to state the somewhat obvious point that the new June laptops “probably won’t boast major new M3 chips. Instead, they’ll run something in line with the current M2 processors.”

That likely means the 15-inch MacBook Air, which has been rumored for months and is reportedly already in production, is on the way. It will be Apple’s first 15-inch laptop since 2019, when the 15-inch MacBook Pro was discontinued and replaced with the 16-inch model. The new Air will reportedly have an M2 processor, possibly with an M2 Pro option, with a similar design and specs to the 13-inch model.

However, Gurman’s report indicates that more than one M2-based MacBook will be released at WWDC, which could mean Apple is planning to refresh the current M2 MacBook Air or 13-inch MacBook Pro as well.

15-inch MacBook Air launch expected at WWDC

WWDC event 2023

The test logs show that Apple is getting ready to release a laptop with a similar processor to current models but a bigger, higher-resolution screen. This model is probably the 15-inch MacBook Air that Apple planned to release this year.

Like the current M2, the chip in the upcoming laptop has eight main working cores and ten graphics cores. It has the same 8 gigabytes of memory as the current MacBook Air. The CPU still has four cores for high speed and four cores for low power use. The version of the Mac operating system that is on the Macs being tested is macOS 14, the report said.

Aside from the bigger MacBook Air, Apple is also working on bringing the 13-inch Air model, the 24-inch iMac, and the basic 13-inch MacBook Pro. However, it is unsure whether the company will unveil any of them during the WWDC event or not.

Apple WWDC Event: What to expect

WWDC event 2023

Apple is expected to reveal several new products and updates during the upcoming WWDC 2023 event. These include the mixed-reality headset, xrOS operating system and software development kit, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, a significant watchOS 10 update, and new MacBooks.

According to reports, the upcoming headset will feature Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) capabilities, and users will be able to switch between modes using a digital crown-like control knob. It is expected to come equipped with an external battery pack that must be worn by the user on their waist.

Faqs on Apple MacBook Air

1) 15-Inch MacBook Air With M2-Like Chip Spotted in Developer Logs ?

Ans) An unreleased 15-inch MacBook Air with a processor “on par” with the M2 chip has been spotted in App Store developer logs, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The long-rumored laptop will likely be released by WWDC in June.

The report indicates that the chip in the new MacBook Air configuration spotted in the logs has an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, just like the M2 chip, along with 8GB of RAM. The laptop has the model identifier “Mac 15,3” and is listed as running macOS 14, which is expected to be announced at WWDC alongside iOS 17 and other updates. The new Air is also listed with a display resolution equal to that of the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

There have been conflicting reports about which chip the 15-inch MacBook Air will use, but the developer logs and Gurman saying the M3 chip is “coming later” suggest that the initial 15-inch model will be powered by the M2 chip, like the 13-inch model.

A larger MacBook Air was first rumored in 2021, with production of 15-inch display panels reportedly ramping up in recent months. It’s unclear exactly when the laptop would be released, but it will likely be announced by WWDC, which begins June 5. Apple announced the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip at WWDC last year. Apple is also working on an updated 13-inch MacBook Air, according to Gurman.

2) What does the lineup of Mac Models include for WWDC 2023?

Ans) The lineup includes a 15-inch MacBook Air, refreshes of 13-inch MacBook Air and 24-inch iMac, and an entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro. Alongside, the company is also readying its first Mac Pro with in-house chips and updated high-end MacBook Pro models.

3) New MacBook Air 15-inch Might Feature This Chipset: Details?

Ans) Apple is likely to launch its new 15-inch MacBook Air at WWDC 2023. Ahead of the launch, some key details about the laptop have leaked. Gurman, in its new Power On newsletter (via), has revealed that an unreleased 15-inch MacBook Air has been spotted in the App Store developer logs.

The report reveals that the laptop features an SoC, which is “on par” with the M2 chip found in the 13-inch model. It has an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, just like the M2 chip. The laptop also packs 8GB of RAM under the hood.

As per the logs, the 15-inch model has the identifier “Mac 15,3.” It is running macOS 14, which will be unveiled at WWDC 2023. In addition to the above details, the logs also revealed that the 15-inch variant has the same display resolution as the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

There have been reports in the past suggesting the 15-inch Air model features Apple’s upcoming M3 chip. However, it looks like the bigger Air will get the same M2 series chip found in the 13.6-inch variant.

As per the report, the 15-inch Air will be announced at WWDC, which is slated to kick off on June 5. Apple announced 13.6-inch variant of the MacBook Air at WWDC 2022. The 15-inch model is likely to have the same design elements as the 13.6-inch variant, which received a refresh last year. It will feature a flatter frame made of metal. There will be a notch display at the top. The screen is likely to be 15.6-inch in size and feature the standard IPS LCD panel.

Apple is also likely to offer only two USB Type-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The bigger Air is unlikely to get an SD card port or more than two USB Type-C Thunderbolt ports, which only the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models feature.

Alongside the 15-inch model, Apple is also reportedly working on an updated version of the 13-inch Air. At WWDC 2023, Apple is also likely to launch a new Mac Pro with a powerful version of the M2 chip called the M2 Ultra and an updated iMac, which has not been refreshed since 2021.
