Vivo V27, Vivo V27 Pro Specifications

Vivo V27 series

The upcoming Vivo V27 series smartphones will sport a curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, based on the teasers and leaks that have surfaced so far.

Aside from that, both of these devices’ displays are said to support HDR10+ and Full HD+ resolution.

The Pro model is rumoured to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 processor, while the base V27 model may be powered by an octa-core Mediatek Dimensity 7200 SoC that was recently announced.

Both of these devices are expected to run the Android 13 operating system out of the box and feature 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage.

Talking about the connectivity and security features, both handsets are said to include support for 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and also come with an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, and 66W fast charging brick.

OnePlus 11 Concept phone unveiled with Active CryoFlux cooling technology at MWC 2023: OnePlus Makes The Future Feel Cool but we will never be able to buy it

* OnePlus 11 concept phone comes with a brand-new cooling technology

* OnePlus 11 concept phone comes with a unique design inspired by the Active CryoFlux cooling technology
* OnePlus showcased its latest innovation, OnePlus 11 Concept, in Barcelona.
* The OnePlus 11 Concept is based on the OnePlus 11.
* The OnePlus 11 Concept phone features a glass unibody design.

OnePlus today unveiled the brand’s much-teased OnePlus 11 concept phone at MWC 2023. The primary innovation the brand has introduced with this concept phone is Active CryoFlux, a cooling technology that can reduce the phone’s temperature up to 2.1℃.

Just to make it clear, as it goes with other concept phones, this phone will not be made available for sale but elements from it can be used in future phones from the brand.

Apart from unveiling the concept phone, the brand also showcased the recently launched OnePlus 11 5G – and how the device leverages in-built AR and ray tracing capability, thanks to the brand’s co-development of technology with Qualcomm and Perfect World Games.

First, let’s dive into more details about the OnePlus 11 concept phone.

OnePlus 11 Concept: First Impressions

OnePlus 11

Initially, when we first saw the leaks and teasers of the OnePlus 11 Concept, we had dismissed the phone for having LEDs attached to the back, just like the Nothing Phone 1, and that’s about it.

We thought ,what would be the concept here, with blue party lights attached to the back? To think of it, we were wrong.

Of course, at first glance, the rear of the OnePlus 11 Concept looks cool, as you see these pipelines of blue light flowing across the rear of the phone. But there’s so much more to it than just the pretty lights.

OnePlus 11

The OnePlus 11 Concept introduces the industry’s first Active Cryo Flux cooling technology in a smartphone, which in simple terms means you’re getting PC-like liquid cooling in the palm of your hands in this compact device called your smartphone.

So, how this tech works? OnePlus has fitted two micropumps around the camera region, which sucks the heat generated from the chipset.

That heat is then dissipated via the icy-cold liquid that is flowing through the visible pipelines in blue.

Sounds cool, and looks even cooler! Now, OnePlus claims that with the liquid cooling tech on the OnePlus 11 Concept, one will be able to game efficiently, with the temperatures decreasing by up to 2.1 degrees Celsius, thus improving the frame rate by 3-4 FPS during gameplay.

Additionally, while charging also, the cooling tech can bring the phone’s temperature down by up to 1.6 degrees Celsius, shaving off 30-45s from the charging time.

Of course, this being a hurried event — like the way are at the MWC — we didn’t get to see any demos of the claims that the company made, but what I did get to see was the phone in person.

And apart from the practical benefits the liquid cooling technology brings to the table, the OnePlus 11 Concept is a thing of beauty to gaze at.

The rear of the OnePlus 11 Concept is fitted with transparent glass, that features quad-curved corners.

And since it is a transparent glass, you get to see all the liquid-cooling action right in front of your eyes as you hold the phone with its back facing towards you.

OnePlus 11 Concept is a looker and especially the blue halo ring around the camera only adds to the character of the phone.

But, again, one should not forget that more than the looks, the blue lights actually hold relevance and function.

With all said, the OnePlus 11 Concept is a “concept” phone, like concept cars.

It is not for sale. It is based on the OnePlus 11, though. Although the company did not comment on the specs or features, it is safe to assume that on the inside, the concept phone is the OnePlus 11.

This means you are likely to have the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood, LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage along with OxygenOS 13 at the helm.

OnePlus 11 Concept Phone – Active CryoFlux Cooling Technology

As we mentioned above, the Active CryoFlux cooling technology reduces the phone’s temperature up to 2.1℃, as per the company.

Apart from this, the tech has been claimed to improve the frame rate by 3-4 fps during gameplay sessions.

Notably, the Active CryoFlux has also been claimed to bring the phone’s temperature down when charging by up to 1.6℃ – shaving off around 30 seconds to 45 seconds from the charging time.

“Determined to push the limits, OnePlus miniaturized the industry-grade cooling capability of gaming PCs into a smartphone. The state-of-the-art Active CryoFlux functions with the industrial-grade ceramic piezoelectric micropumps at the center, connected to pipelines sandwiched between an upper and lower diaphragm. The micropump takes up an area less than 0.2cm2, enabling the liquid to circulation around the pipelines without significantly increasing a phone’s weight and thickness,” the brand said in its release.

In terms of design, the OnePlus 11 Concept takes inspiration from the Active CryoFlux and has a rear cover that shows the micro liquid flowing through the pipelines, which is completed with a magnetron-spluttering coating where metal and alloy are deposited in tiny amounts onto the case using an electric field.

“The same aesthetic is found in the camera lens. The icy-cold Active CryoFlux liquid flows through the camera in a halo, and the lens area is surrounded by Guilloché etching, a very precise decorative technique that engraves an intricate pattern. This process is used in the design of several luxury timepieces,” OnePlus said in its release.

The phone comes with a glass unibody design with a deeply curved panel for a thinner bezel with a side pull-up height of 5.04mm.

OnePlus 11 5G Announcements

OnePlus shared that the OnePlus 11 5G, supported by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, comes with support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing which is able to simulate real-time light effects.

Till now, the only other phone series to support this tech was the Samsung Galaxy S23 series.

OnePlus announced its partnership with Perfect World Games and showcased ray tracing in the Tower of Fantasy gameplay on the OnePlus 11 5G.

Further, the brand shared that the OnePlus 11 5G is the first Snapdragon Spaces™-ready phone. The Snapdragon Spaces™ XR developer program essentially allows for developers to bring their XR ideas to life and explore the full potential of cutting-edge head-worn AR.

Nokia Changes Iconic Logo For 1st Time In 60 Years, Signals New Strategy to Mark the beginning of a New Era

Nokia Logo Change

HIGHLIGHTS

* Nokia has unveiled a new brand logo for the first time in 60 years of its existence.
* The new logo has five different shapes that form the word ‘Nokia’.
* The iconic Blue colour has been changed to various new colours depending on the use.

Nokia, for the first time in its existence of 60 years, has announced a change to its brand identity with a completely new logo.

The new logo has five different shapes that form the word ‘Nokia’. The iconic Blue colour has been changed to various new colours depending on the use.

In an interview with Reuters, Chief Executive Pekka Lundmark, said “There was the association to smartphones and nowadays we are a business technology company.”

Lundmark set out a strategy after taking over the position at the Finnish company in 2020, which included the mantra of reset, accelerate, and scale.

According to the company, the reset stage is now complete, so Lundmark said the second stage is now beginning.

Nokia still wants to grow its service provider business, where it sells equipment to telecom companies; the main focus is now to sell gear to other enterprises.

Nokia Logo Change

Nokia Logo Change

“We had very good 21 percent growth last year in enterprise, which is currently about 8 percent of our sales, (or) 2 billion euros ($2.11 billion) roughly. We want to take that to double digits as quickly as possible.“
– Chief Executive Pekka Lundmark

Technology firms are partnering with telecom gear makers such as Nokia to sell private 5G networks and gears for automated factories to customers. Nokia plans to review the growth path of its different businesses and consider alternatives, including divestment.

The signal is very clear. We only want to be in businesses where we can see global leadership,” Lundmark said.

Nokia aims to take on Microsoft and Amazon by moving forward with automation and data centres.

“There will be multiple different types of cases, sometimes they will be our partners. sometimes they can be our customers. and I am sure that there will also be situations where they will be competitors,” said the top executive.

Lundmark says that India is its fastest-growing market that has lower margins and this is a structural change.

Nokia expects North America to be stronger in the second half of the year.

Iconic Nokia logo Redesigned

According to Reuters, the new logo comprises five different shapes forming the word ‘Nokia’. The iconic blue colour of the old logo has been dropped for a range of colours depending on the use.

Finnish manufacturer of 5G equipment, Nokia redesigned its logo to avoid being associated with mobile phones, a sector it left almost ten years ago.

CEO Lundmark said that Nokia is no longer just a smartphone company, but a “business technology company.”

He was speaking ahead of a business update by the company on the eve of the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) which opens in Barcelona on Monday and runs until 2 March.

Besides unveiling a new logo, the brand also outlined how it expects networks to evolve in the next seven years or so, and how it is planning to evolve in line with these changes.
According to Livemint, the CEO said in an interview,

“We want to launch a new brand that is focusing very much on the networks and industrial digitalisation, which is a completely different thing from the legacy mobile phones.”

HMD Global Oy continues to sell mobile devices with the Nokia brand. Once Microsoft Corp., which acquired the company in 2014, stopped using the name, HMD obtained the rights.

Nokia Logo Change

Change in Strategy

While Nokia still aims to grow its service provider business, selling equipment to telecom companies, its main focus is now to sell gear to other businesses.

“We had very good 21 per cent growth last year in enterprise, which is currently about eight per cent of our sales, (or) 2 billion euros ($2.11 billion) roughly,” Lundmark said. “We want to take that to double digits as quickly as possible.”

Major technology firms have been partnering with telecom gear makers such as Nokia to sell private 5G networks and gears for automated factories to customers, mostly in the manufacturing sector.

Lundmark said that Nokia will focus on adding market share in the company’s business by serving wireless service providers with network equipment.

Nokia now has “the ammunition and the tools,” according to him, to gain market share without compromising margins.

This has been made possible by limits placed on Huawei Technologies Co., a Chinese rival, after some European governments forbade the business from supplying components for 5G networks, according to Livemint.

Nokia also plans to review the growth path of its different businesses and consider alternatives, including divestment.

According to Telecoms,

CEO Lundmark said, “We see the potential of digital to transform business, industry and society with an opportunity for significant gains in productivity, sustainability, and accessibility.

Our market-leading critical networking technology is increasingly needed by customers and partners in every industry. We see a future where networks go beyond connecting people and things.

They’re adaptable, autonomous and consumable. They are networks that sense, think and act, and they maximise the opportunity of digitalisation.”

“Today we share our updated company and technology strategy with a focus on unleashing the exponential potential of networks – pioneering a future where networks meet cloud. To signal this ambition, we are refreshing our brand to reflect who we are today – a B2B technology innovation leader. This is Nokia, but not as the world has seen us before,” the CEO added.

“The signal is very clear. We only want to be in businesses where we can see global leadership,” he said.

Market Competition

Nokia’s move toward factory automation and datacentres will also see them locking horns with big tech companies, such as Microsoft & Amazon, reported Reuters.

“There will be multiple different types of cases, sometimes they will be our partners … sometimes they can be our customers… and I am sure that there will also be situations where they will be competitors.”

The market to sell telecom gear is under pressure with the macro environment denting demand from high-margin markets such as North America, being replaced by growth in low-margin India, pushing rival Ericsson to lay off 8,500 employees.

“India is our fastest growing market that has lower margins – this is a structural change,” Lundmark said, adding that Nokia expects North America to be stronger in the second half of the year.

Additionally, Nokia decided against following in the footsteps of its rival Ericsson AB, whose $6.2 billion purchase of Vonage Holdings Inc. was motivated by a similar need to expand its business.

The Finnish company just ended its more than ten-year struggle in junk status by regaining an investment-grade BBB- rating from S&P Global Ratings.

Lundmark believes there is still more to be done, particularly with regard to the operating margins of the business, as per Livemint.

“We are not happy yet with where we are,” he said.

Brands who Changed their Names to Signal Strategy Shift

Facebook – Meta

In October 2021, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the social media giant will change the name of its holding company to Meta, in a rebrand that came as the company faced several public relations crises.

Zuckerberg outlined that the new name goes with the company’s virtual-reality vision for the future, according to The Guardian.

Dunkin’ Donuts – Dunkin

In an effort to reinvent itself, the business dropped the word “Donuts” in 2019. The corporation intended to pay homage to the chain’s beverage sales, which made up more than half of its revenue, even while customers would still recognise its colours and typography, as per Economic Times.

This pocketable device can connect up to 32 devices to the Internet over Wi-Fi 5 (ac at 867Mbps), its 2,150mAh battery can last up to 8 hours of operation (standby time is up to 300 hours).

Last on TCL’s list of MWC launches are a couple of tablets which appear to be targeted toward Europe for the time being.

The NXTPAPER 11 is a tablet/e-reader hybrid sporting an 11-inch color 2K display powered by TCL’s latest NXTPAPER 2.0 tech, which increases the brightness by 150% compared to v1, offering up to 500 nits and an overall better reading experience.

The onboard 8MP front camera enables the NXTPAPER 11 to make video calls or capture self-portraits and there will be plenty of lasting power for those selfies with a mammoth 8,000mAh battery and the option to reverse charge your other devices.

Quad speakers and dual microphones are also on-board.

TCL Linkzone 4G

Customers across select regions of Europe can get the NXTPAPER 11 starting from $249 (€235) in May. TCL didn’t provide a US launch date for the NXTPAPER 11.

The TCL Tab 11, on the other hand, is designed for those who prefer a “conventional tablet experience.” It features an 11-inch 2K display, the same MediaTek Helio P60T SoC as frin the NXTPAPER 11, plus 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage.

The hardware is crammed into a 6.9mm thick body, weighing just over 1lb (462 grams).
TCL said it will make the tablet available in 4G and non-4G versions. There’s an 8,000mAh battery inside the Android 13-running Tab 11.

Much like the NXTPAPER 11, the Tab 11 supports TCL’s T-pen stylus which will be available separately.

The company says it will launch Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE variants of the tablet in May, starting from $179 (€169) and $209 (€197) across Europe, with no word on a US release date at this point.

MIUI 14 announced for global markets – Check out list of Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco Eligible Devices & MIUI14 Expected Features

Xiaomi 12 Pro

HIGHLIGHTS

* Alongside the Xiaomi 13 series, Xiaomi also announced the list of devices that would soon receive the latest MIUI 14 update.
* The list mostly includes the high-end Xiaomi devices and some mid-range Redmi devices.
* More devices are likely to be added to the list soon.

Xiaomi finally launched its Xiaomi 13 series of smartphones in the global market during the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023.

The Xiaomi 13 series includes the vanilla Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Lite, and Xiaomi 13 Pro smartphones.

At the very end of the launch event, Xiaomi also announced a list of smartphones that would soon be receiving the latest MIUI 14 update.

Xiaomi had earlier confirmed that MIUI 14 will be officially rolling out in India starting today. The list, consisting of a total of 18 smartphones, mostly includes the high-end Xiaomi smartphones, but some mid-range Redmi devices have made it to the list as well.

Though an actual rollout date has not been confirmed, we now have a tentative timeframe during which (at least) these devices should receive the MIUI 14 update. Let’s take a look.

MIUI 14 Expected Features

Reimagined Home screen

You can arrange your home screen in your way. Using tabular icons, big folders, widgets and wallpapers to not only stylize your own home screen, but also make it look clearer and easier for your everyday use.

Flexible and intuitive design

On-Device Privacy

Introducing card-style design on your display just help to present your information more efficiently, just like Post-it notes but only more organized.

Back-end optimization

On-Device Privacy

MIUI is lighter than ever with optimized system resources that take up less storage and optimized overall system memory usage to free more memory. The rarely used apps will be auto-compressed by MIUI 14. Notifications are not permanent Now. If you do not need them any more, just close them.

On-Device Privacy

On-Device Privacy

Sensitive items are processed without leaving your device. MIUI 14 minimizes such risks by using on-device privacy protection mechanisms that allow the processing of sensitive items directly on your device.

On-device privacy protection mechanisms allow MIUI 14 to recognize text on images quickly and accurately by using the capabilities of your device. On-device privacy is available for 10+ system services.

Connected devices

Connect devices seamlessly and switch in a snap. Sync the app you are using between your smartphone and tablet, with a simple click from your task bar. Drag and drop, it’s so easy to transfer files between devices.

Xiaomi MIUI 14 update rollout (global): eligible devices

MIUI 14 Expected Features

MIUI 14 Supported Devices

Xiaomi’s software update policy remains hazy as ever, so it’s difficult to ascertain exactly what devices will get treated to the new update. The company’s Product Support Policy Overview says that it maintains security updates for 2 years, but there are some models that can be supported for 3 years.

Based on this, we’ve arrived at the following list. The list contains the names of devices that are almost certain to receive MIUI 14, but there can be others that may have been missed. Do note that MIUI 14 may or may not be based on Android 13 on your device.

Xiaomi Phones Eligible for MIUI 14

As seen in the image above, the list mostly includes Xiaomi-branded devices, namely:

1. Xiaomi 12T Pro
2. Xiaomi 12T
3. Xiaomi 12 Pro
4. Xiaomi 12
5. Mi 11 Ultra
6. Mi 11i
7. Xiaomi 12X
8. Xiaomi 12 Lite
9. Xiaomi 11T Pro
10. Xiaomi 11T
11. Mi 11
12. Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE
13. Mi 11 Lite 5G
14. Mi 11 Lite

That said, the brand has added several Redmi smartphones to the list as well. Below are the Redmi devices that are confirmed to receive the latest MIUI 14 update soon:

1. Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G
2. Redmi Note 10 Pro
3. Redmi Note 10
4. Redmi 10 5G

The very last tab confirms that Xiaomi intends to add more devices to the list, and post the first batch rollout, we can expect other Xiaomi/Redmi devices to follow suit, and, in all likelihood, more devices from the brand will receive MIUI 14 sometime during Q2, 2023.

It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi rolls out Android 13 alongside the MIUI 14 update to all the devices in the list or it makes the MIUI 14/Android 13 combo available to select devices for now.
